WHAT: Dating shows... I was bullied.
WHERE: Between Okinawa & Neo Tokyo.
WHEN: Throughout the remainder of July (listen, it's a production)!
WARNINGS: Partial nudity, alcohol, potential suggestive topics, and will update 'em as I see 'em!

Throughout the city of Neo Tokyo and even Okinawa, there will be advertisements posted by the hundreds (and spam mail to your oculars by an equal number), desiring candidates for a show. While the aftermath of vegas and other bleak instances might have led way for people practicing some semblance of moderation— opposite to that, the people also need their entertainment, don't they?

Fortunately, there will be an influx of dating shows looking for people to appear. They are offering a fairly decent amount of money and are even offering luxury experiences for free for participants. In this economy and food shortage??? Okay, the food may be lacking, but they do make up for it in various activities they have planned, where people can kick back, relax, and romance?

While there will be any number of shows looking for interested parties, these are the main shows/premises:

  SPEED DATING  

As the label suggests. People will be expected to sit down and switch through several partners. In their hands will be a card labeling who they encounter and a place to leave a check mark. They will also be given a list of questions that can be answered.

  PARTNER SWAP  

People can be on a show and swap partners. This doesn't necessarily need to be romantic, either. Have a friend you want to show up with, cool. The only rules are that the pairs who enter together cannot stay together during the duration of the show.

  SINGLES INFERNO  

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be trapped on a deserted island with other hot singles? Well, now you no longer have to wonder. They will need to cook and fend for themselves here with minimal activities or distraction— but, isn't that the point? All you need to focus on is each other! (* They will be ferried to an outer island by Okinawa). While on the island, which they label as inferno, it's also a rule that one cannot speak about their age, occupation, or any such personal details. All of this will be reserved for "paradise." To go to paradise, two individuals will need to pick one another, and if they do — they are able to go on to completed various luxury experiences together.

For those who would rather find paradise in inferno together, you can presume there are tents that act as shared dormitory quarters where contestants will stay together.

  DATE ME  

People are free to use this for just general dates. Maybe, you just want to finesse the system and enjoy a fun all-expense-paid for date in which you get to eat like relative kings and enjoy various experiences. Feel free to use anything in the setting to your desire.

  SKINSHIP STARTER  

... a show where you get paid the more skinship you do. Don't do anything you wouldn't do in a Wendy's though. (That's not how the saying actually goes).

  COMMENTARY PANEL  

Every good dating show needs those who simply sit and commentate, right?

* It can be assumed any of this is just open to general CR you want to spend time with, too. This is just supposed to be a silly log for chances for characters to get to know one another! Characters are more than welcome to assume they stumble upon this by accident, think it's just a basic job and can't leave, film or unfilmed (minus the commentary prompt), and whatever else! Feel free to tag freely, threadjack, etc!

[ Ratio is used to dinners with his actual partner, though they are often more lavish than this, with a menu of expensive, rich foods and a pleasant atmosphere. The homey, casual style of this dinner is quite different. He's never been treated to another's home cooking. Is this how other people go about dates? He will be taking mental notes as the night progresses. Sorry Rover, you have absolutely no chance at winning this man's heart...

Anyway, he was expected to contribute as well. He ends up bringing alcohol, which is a usual staple of the dinners he's familiar with. It's an expensive one too—at least, it's expensive on this planet. To Ratio, this might be one of the cheapest wines he's ever purchased. Not in terms of money, but in terms of quality. With the show's budgeted money, of course, because he is not spending a single cent of his personal income on this farce. ]

I agree. Those are qualities that arise with intelligence and critical thinking.

[ He's eying the red colour of that chicken... and frowns. ]

I am capable of feeding myself.

I'm not doubting you. But it is an intimate thing to be allowed to feed someone. It's not necessarily about ability.

[ the wine seems expensive, though she doesn't really drink that often. it's a good thing the producers only expect her to ... 'drink as much as it's entertaining'. whatever that means. if it's for the show, sure. she can handle a glass or two.

in any case the wine's strong flavour would be a nice counterbalance to the spice of the chicken, though rover has eaten this dish so often that she barely even discerns the spice anymore. ]

Let's try it. [ go on. have a bite .... ]

[ It can be intimate, that is true, but he can hardly imagine his actual partner trying this for any reason other than to tease him. But it is not as if he suspects she intends the same. This is a show, regardless of the setting, and she is merely fulfilling a role.

As must he, much to his growing horror, confronted with the unmistakably spicy chicken, the burn of which he can smell now that it is so close to his face. ]

I-I do not believe this will agree with my palate.

[ He nudges himself away from the chicken, trying not to admit his weakness to spice. But really, at this point, he's only making himself look kind of pathetic... ]

You haven't even tried. How can you tell?

[ he's judging his cooking so harshly. rover just shakes her head, her tone taking on some slight disappointment as she continues to press on - ]

Besides, it's not like I'm asking you to finish the entire plate. I'm asking you to try it.

[ it's a very reasonable request. the spicy chicken is waiting .... ]

[ He could just turn it down anyway, show be damned. Though his partner asked him to go along with the show, it wasn't as if there was a prize waiting at the end, or a punishment for breaking character. ]

...and... the spice level?

[ Look, Rover. You have to understand. He can't handle spice whatsoever. Please, spare him. ]

It's rather mild.

[ she says this, but there are bits of the chili pepper that are visible on the meat itself. mild ... for whom? is probably the better question here.

with apologies to his partner, maybe today is the day the doctor becomes a patient. how the turntables turn. ]

[ Mild. Right. He knows of the increasing tolerance to spice that those who regularly consume it have. Even read up on the biological and psychological mechanisms behind the effect as part of his leisure reading. This woman is most certainly underestimating the effect the spice will have on a person who rarely consumes spicy food.

He could firmly refuse. He has no qualms about appearing rude, even on a broadcasted show where producers, directors and who knows how many people expect otherwise of him. The expectations of others have rarely influenced his behaviour.


He is going to regret this decision, he knows, but he decides on it anyway. His eyes flash for a moment to request one of the show's crew prepare a drink that will help him weather the pain after. ]

...Very well. Just a bite.

[ And he leans in to take a bite of the chicken. ]

[ The spice hits almost immediately and he slaps a hand over his mouth as he starts to cough. Help. Water. Milk. Give him something to drink, please. ]
