WHAT: Dating shows... I was bullied.
WHERE: Between Okinawa & Neo Tokyo.
WHEN: Throughout the remainder of July (listen, it's a production)!
WARNINGS: Partial nudity, alcohol, potential suggestive topics, and will update 'em as I see 'em!

Throughout the city of Neo Tokyo and even Okinawa, there will be advertisements posted by the hundreds (and spam mail to your oculars by an equal number), desiring candidates for a show. While the aftermath of vegas and other bleak instances might have led way for people practicing some semblance of moderation— opposite to that, the people also need their entertainment, don't they?

Fortunately, there will be an influx of dating shows looking for people to appear. They are offering a fairly decent amount of money and are even offering luxury experiences for free for participants. In this economy and food shortage??? Okay, the food may be lacking, but they do make up for it in various activities they have planned, where people can kick back, relax, and romance?

While there will be any number of shows looking for interested parties, these are the main shows/premises:

  SPEED DATING  

As the label suggests. People will be expected to sit down and switch through several partners. In their hands will be a card labeling who they encounter and a place to leave a check mark. They will also be given a list of questions that can be answered.

  PARTNER SWAP  

People can be on a show and swap partners. This doesn't necessarily need to be romantic, either. Have a friend you want to show up with, cool. The only rules are that the pairs who enter together cannot stay together during the duration of the show.

  SINGLES INFERNO  

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be trapped on a deserted island with other hot singles? Well, now you no longer have to wonder. They will need to cook and fend for themselves here with minimal activities or distraction— but, isn't that the point? All you need to focus on is each other! (* They will be ferried to an outer island by Okinawa). While on the island, which they label as inferno, it's also a rule that one cannot speak about their age, occupation, or any such personal details. All of this will be reserved for "paradise." To go to paradise, two individuals will need to pick one another, and if they do — they are able to go on to completed various luxury experiences together.

For those who would rather find paradise in inferno together, you can presume there are tents that act as shared dormitory quarters where contestants will stay together.

  DATE ME  

People are free to use this for just general dates. Maybe, you just want to finesse the system and enjoy a fun all-expense-paid for date in which you get to eat like relative kings and enjoy various experiences. Feel free to use anything in the setting to your desire.

  SKINSHIP STARTER  

... a show where you get paid the more skinship you do. Don't do anything you wouldn't do in a Wendy's though. (That's not how the saying actually goes).

  COMMENTARY PANEL  

Every good dating show needs those who simply sit and commentate, right?

* It can be assumed any of this is just open to general CR you want to spend time with, too. This is just supposed to be a silly log for chances for characters to get to know one another! Characters are more than welcome to assume they stumble upon this by accident, think it's just a basic job and can't leave, film or unfilmed (minus the commentary prompt), and whatever else! Feel free to tag freely, threadjack, etc!

[ That would require them to actually talk about their relationship, beyond Aki saying 'I like you' and Tsuru literally crying it on him.

Aki knows he's not going to make it home alive. He's painfully aware of it, and his stomach is in knots. He wants to do well by Tsurumaru, but he doesn't think it all matters, and he feels... Unsure.

Nose wrinkling, he looks away. ]

We don't talk about it.

[ oh... hm. that is a conundrum, because wriothesley would've told her that she's enough - only for her to be too stubborn to believe it. this is definitely something they could easily hash out, but she doesn't want to come across as needy... ]

I get it. But...

[ she lets out a drawn-out sigh. wings, she already feels like a broken record with this one tried-and-true advice already. this really is her job now, huh. ]

Well, it's none of my business. But I think it's important enough to bring up to them anyway.

[ Aki frowns, shaking his head, looking away for a moment, crossing his arms as he sighs. ]

If it's necessary.

[ It's hard, isn't it? Liking someone. Aki still shifts, a little uncomfortable, not sure of himself. ]

I've never really dared anyone before. It's new.

[wheft]

It's always necessary.

[ WHY DONT PEOPLE TALK IT OUT, damn...... can't be her. ]

But it's not like I'm one to talk, sometimes. This is my first time too. I still feel like I'm stumbling my way through it.

[lifeprice]

[ Cannot be him either. ]

I didn't expect to live all that long, so dating wasn't important.

[ He leans back, patting his pockets. Cigarettes where... ]

But I like him.

[ she's going to sympathize for a moment there. she too was expected to die, and back then, she could've ended it all too and never come back.

but his sudden frankness knocked her off-kilter a little, blinking rapidly at him. ]

Am I... allowed to know who he is?

[ Ah.

It's not as if they're keeping it a "secret", but Aki is a little shy and embarrassed. They're not even officially 'together', but are together in every other sense, so...

He blinks and glances away. ]

Tsurumaru.

You're probably aware of it by now, right? That he's a sword.

I’m aware.

[ Aki is avidly refusing to think about the time he couldn’t kiss Tsuru due to his surgery and kissed the hilt of his sword instead. Totally normal behaviour. Nothing strange.

He’s dying. ]

I’ve seen it.

[wheft]

[ that's so romantic, though.............. ]

His... original form?

[ whoa. ]

Have you used him yet? [ wait no ] I-I mean, you know. Holding him like a weapon and such.

I took care of it in the hospital. Before…

[ He waves his hand shyly. Before they were a thing.

Sometimes, you just have to worship someone so intensely they can’t help but love you? ]

Not yet. I’ve been relying on my rocket launcher in the missions.

[wheft]

[ ah, right. she forgot he had that. crazy.

she's silent for a while, as if satisfied of the answer she'd somehow gotten from him. though obviously that's not all. ]

...Does he feel the same?

[lifeprice]

[ Aki purses his lips.

He doesn’t know how to answer that.

It’s strange, to be talking about it with someone else, but this isn’t a conversation he’s ready to have with Denji, and he can’t harass Tsuru about it. He knows the other man well enough now: it would ruin things.

Still, his expression goes tense. ]

I think he likes me enough.

[wheft]

[ he says that, but he doesn't sound too happy about it. she would know, because she's usually smile when asked.

but of course, that's none of her business. and thus: ]

Then that's good enough. [ is it ever enough? no. but right now, people like them take what they can get. ] He must be fun to be with.

He is.

[ That, at least, he can talk about. There’s no denying that being around Tsurumaru is fun, and Aki sinks back into his chair. ]

I didn’t have much time for it with my job before, but being here with Denji and Tsuru… I remember what being happy is like.

[ a small hum. ]

I get what you mean all too well. I... never thought I'd get into something like this either.

[ it's a little embarrassing when the topic suddenly veers towards her, which is why she's the one doing most of the asking instead. hurray for evasion tactics!! ]

It was an accident. I didn’t intend to like him at all.

[ Sometimes you do a fake date mission with a guy and then torture a prisoner together and it just brings you into unexpected romance.

Oof. ]

Was it the same for you?

[ now that got a chuckle out of her. ]

I couldn't even stand him the first time we met. Took me a while before I could call him my friend.

[ her gaze is warm as she focuses her attention to whatever's unfolding in front of them. ]

I was terrified for a while. That I'd lose our friendship right there if I said anything.

I thought Tsuru was irritating.

[ Ooh… Nickname.

Aki’s lip twitches a little. ]

I thought the same. It almost did, but that was more my own fault than anything he did.

[wheft]

[ she blinks. ] Your fault?

I thought he was in love with someone else.

[ That was pretty stupid of him. ]

[wheft]

[ ...ah. ]

But he wasn't.

[ Look. He literally was like 'I'll never forget him', 'he's too special to forget', that kind of stuff... ]
