WHAT: Dating shows... I was bullied.
WHERE: Between Okinawa & Neo Tokyo.
WHEN: Throughout the remainder of July (listen, it's a production)!
WARNINGS: Partial nudity, alcohol, potential suggestive topics, and will update 'em as I see 'em!

Throughout the city of Neo Tokyo and even Okinawa, there will be advertisements posted by the hundreds (and spam mail to your oculars by an equal number), desiring candidates for a show. While the aftermath of vegas and other bleak instances might have led way for people practicing some semblance of moderation— opposite to that, the people also need their entertainment, don't they?

Fortunately, there will be an influx of dating shows looking for people to appear. They are offering a fairly decent amount of money and are even offering luxury experiences for free for participants. In this economy and food shortage??? Okay, the food may be lacking, but they do make up for it in various activities they have planned, where people can kick back, relax, and romance?

While there will be any number of shows looking for interested parties, these are the main shows/premises:

  SPEED DATING  

As the label suggests. People will be expected to sit down and switch through several partners. In their hands will be a card labeling who they encounter and a place to leave a check mark. They will also be given a list of questions that can be answered.

  PARTNER SWAP  

People can be on a show and swap partners. This doesn't necessarily need to be romantic, either. Have a friend you want to show up with, cool. The only rules are that the pairs who enter together cannot stay together during the duration of the show.

  SINGLES INFERNO  

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be trapped on a deserted island with other hot singles? Well, now you no longer have to wonder. They will need to cook and fend for themselves here with minimal activities or distraction— but, isn't that the point? All you need to focus on is each other! (* They will be ferried to an outer island by Okinawa). While on the island, which they label as inferno, it's also a rule that one cannot speak about their age, occupation, or any such personal details. All of this will be reserved for "paradise." To go to paradise, two individuals will need to pick one another, and if they do — they are able to go on to completed various luxury experiences together.

For those who would rather find paradise in inferno together, you can presume there are tents that act as shared dormitory quarters where contestants will stay together.

  DATE ME  

People are free to use this for just general dates. Maybe, you just want to finesse the system and enjoy a fun all-expense-paid for date in which you get to eat like relative kings and enjoy various experiences. Feel free to use anything in the setting to your desire.

  SKINSHIP STARTER  

... a show where you get paid the more skinship you do. Don't do anything you wouldn't do in a Wendy's though. (That's not how the saying actually goes).

  COMMENTARY PANEL  

Every good dating show needs those who simply sit and commentate, right?

* It can be assumed any of this is just open to general CR you want to spend time with, too. This is just supposed to be a silly log for chances for characters to get to know one another! Characters are more than welcome to assume they stumble upon this by accident, think it's just a basic job and can't leave, film or unfilmed (minus the commentary prompt), and whatever else! Feel free to tag freely, threadjack, etc!

the added context helps, somewhat. the doctor must be that big of a deal back home, enough for someone from corporate to admire him this much for those humanitarian efforts. imagine being that much in love, though....... ]

It's more like... I didn't even know I have standards until recently. Relationships weren't really a high priority for me, who did nothing but survive.

Most certainly. So, now that you don't have to worry about things like not dying, what would you say your 'type' is? No one with an ego, obviously.

[ wow, imagine not being worried about not dying here. she knows better than to correct him though, at least not right now.

her gaze goes back to the spectacle in front of them. ]

Someone who has a lot of meat in them. Sturdy, built, whatever you call it. Having visible scars on them is a plus, too. It shows how strong they are and how much they've endured up to this point.

[ at least physical traits are easy to pin down for her. she knows what she wants. there was a reason why she used to sleep with toji back in the day, after all. ]

( look, kaiju are just giant monsters. aventurine doesn't think those are particularly dangerous, given that the closest he's come to dying has either been at his own hands or the hands of other people. aventurine turns his gaze to the contestants, measuring up the outsiders to see which ones come close to her words. there's only a few, and that makes him grin.

My, one might think with that type you're afraid of losing them.

( his tone, while light, does not match his eyes -- sharp and apprising as he looks at her. )

[ well, he's not wrong. she was the only one left behind in that hellish voyage, the one who's often left behind. it's natural for her to cling to people once she's become attached to them.

but her face remains passive as she gives a shrug. ]

...When I was still a sailor, I was always surrounded by people with that particularly body type. I guess I'm just used to seeing that all the time.

[ doesn't prevent them from dying horrible deaths or transforming into something unrecognizable in the lake, but the heart wants what it wants in the end. ]

Most people don't go seeking out someone who's clearly survived, though, as reassurance that they won't go down without a fight.

( he doesn't think that was a top concern of ratio's, and it isn't what aventurine finds attractive about the other man. though in fairness ratio has known that aventurine is like a very persistent cockroach for as long as they'd worked together. he made sure of that during their first meeting. )

Ah, exposure to one particular type leaves an imprint. That much I understand, though again: I can hardly relate.

[ he's... not wrong. queequeg had endured so much hardship when she was still working for the Middle, her self-inflicted scars being a mere reminder of that. wriothesley had also gone through a lot when he was in prison since he was a mere child. and while everyone on the bus have their own scars that tell a story, heathcliff in particular had suffered countless abuse when he was still in wuthering heights...

but she doesn't confirm that to aventurine. it's embarrassing, having an obvious type. ]

Guess that's for the best. If we had the same type, we'd have to contend for the same guy.

( a non-answer is as good as an answer, and aventurine turns his head back towards the displays. there's nothing particularly of note going on, however, even if ratio is doing his best to play by the rules of the game. with a shrug, he turns back to ishmael. )

Mm, it's a good thing, too. ( he flips a coin into the air, letting it spin before he catches it. ) I always get what I want in the end.
