The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.
Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Korea’s resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.
LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.
However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didn’t track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugi’s nest. So where is the Imugi?
Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITH’s Korean base is destroyed.
The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.
LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.

After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

[He has... Complicated thoughts about his own motivations and what really drove him to act in that moment, actually. But he's not about to dump his thoughts about all that onto poor Raidou.]
[ That shouldn't be surprising but it is. Ratio takes a moment to stare in surprise, but quickly reins in his expression, which would not have shown had he not been so fatigued.
An excellent pair... his blushes slightly and averts his gaze. Their relationship is still so new, and he isn't used to people commenting on it. ]

[ Back home, he would probably end up hearing more derogatory things said about their relationship once it's revealed, if only because of the public's perception of Aventurine. His position as a Stoneheart, and him being the last surviving member of the Avgins. It will no doubt rankle on Ratio, so to hear approval is—well, he has never cared for the approval of others, and the gossip he will no doubt be subject to back home would never dissuade him from being with Aventurine, but—

[ Both of them have a good eye for talent, so it's not a surprise that Aventurine saw something of worth in Set. ]

[ Let's cut to the chase! Are we not going to talk about Yzak here? And no, he can't relate. It's not like he has that kind of bond with anyone, but that doesn't mean he can't see how close the two of them are. The way Dearka talks about him, their banter and obvious comfort with one another, to how their mobile suits fight in sync. Honestly, it fills him with envy. ]
If you wanna take that angle... then, yeah. No point in beatin' around the bush. Guess I could just... off myself if I wanted an easy way out, but it's likely I'll... be doin' this for as long as someone sees fit to call upon my history.

[ He can't deny that, so nods at Dearka's mention of Raidou's ability. At least it sounds like back when he opted for that, it wasn't entirely done self hatred.
A beat, and then he tips his head and raises an eyebrow. ]
I'm assuming that bet is being based on a doctor's words. So ... that's good.
[ Some of the tenseness in his voice melts away along with the lingering hooks of guilt that have been hanging on to him since their mission. ]
You recently talked about finding the time to dance more. It would have been complete bullshit, if that was taken away from you like this.
That's ridiculous. You should be able to make your own choices -- and not just... ending your life.
[ this comes out kind of snappily, but his heart is in the right place. probably! he shifts a bit so he's bearing more of izou's weight and charging ahead... even though his room is probably like 2 feet away at this point ]
And by choices I don't mean drinking your life away. Just... take better care of yourself.
[Dearka blinks and stares for a moment... Not quite taken aback by the observation, but at least low-key surprised that Elan jumped to the heart of the matter that quickly.
He slouches back in his chair a little and snickers.]
You're real sure of that, huh. You don't think maybe I was just being pragmatic? Letting my soldier's instincts do the thinking for me? He is my commander, after all. That's like, military hierarchy 101; someone tosses a grenade at your superior's feet? You throw yourself on it for them.
[God forbid he be sincere about the depths of his feelings. He'd rather get crunched by the dragon again, thanks.]
And what is that attitude going to do for you, huh.
[A little shake of the head.]
Backtrack on that one, Hunter. You are useful. You made a mistake, and you must look over your errors, fix yourself, and move forward. Who is saying you're not useful? You? I'm not saying it.
I don't see it as recklessness. Just doing your duty.
[Which might precisely be his problem, but it is a matter of perspective, isn't it.
He's not sure what else to say. Raidou isn't a great conversationalist on a good day, which certainly isn't today, and won't be anytime soon. He should be hospitable, though. After a moment of hesitation, he opens the door enough for them both.]
Would you like to sit down? I can make some coffee to go with these. [Indicating the bag of snacks. Raidou might not have much of an appetite, but he always has time for coffee.]
( Not necessarily what he means, but everything is calculated. There's no harm in showing Nanami that fondness. He's not going to get anywhere by being aloof.
He tops up his glass happily, then Nanami's. )
Though if I get drunk I'm blaming you. I'm already in enough trouble. I don't need any more.
[ The texture of her vector is...odd. Sometimes it has the vague shape of a hand, but no warmth or truly solid form. It's like touching glass, if the glass had the surface tension of a bubble that never pops.
She watches him touch it with rapt fascination, but she can only go for so long before laughing. ]
[ There's a brief, disbelieving pause and then Elan breaks out a laugh. Congrats. That's the most ridiculous thing he's heard in a while! ]
Yeah right. You don't strike me as someone all that concerned about military protocol! I bet most soldiers wouldn't be able to follow through on their instincts when it comes down to it. It's one thing to swear an oath, it's another thing to rush to their deaths!
[ If that's protocol, being in the military sucks ass. Elan's long been bewildered why a laid-back guy like Dearka signed himself up to take orders from anyone. He's also surprised Dearka is digging his heels in about this particular subject because it's not like it's a big deal? 'Yeah, Yzak is my partner, I couldn't let anything happen to him' would have been the normal person response. Something's off, and he's going to poke and prod until he gets a reaction. ]
What's wrong with admitting you let your emotions cloud your judgment? Are soldiers not allowed to experience attachments? Are you worried he'll think less of you? You can be honest with me. I'm not a military guy, I really don't care whether you behave like a soldier or not.
[ he blinks a few times at the snacks, the gears turning in his head practically visible as he tries to recall what he's owed this for. No way is this guy trying to pay him back for giving him a snack bar he found on the ground, right...? But there's no other explanation coming to mind. Sonic somewhat sheepishly accepts the offering, if only because Yuwon started putting stuff in his hands before he understood what he was doing. ]
I appreciate the thought, but you really don't have to. I didn't do it 'cause I wanted you to pay me back, you know?
[ if he's being honest, he was mostly showing off -- but part of it was just that he likes being nice to people, too. ]
[ he scratches his head, running a hand through his spines sheepishly. ]

[ it's something Sonic's occasionally had to think about, too, although it's generally not his fault - just that fighting giant monsters means there's going to be collateral, and he's only one guy, even if he is super fast and cool. [Oh good, this saves him the trouble of immediately and awkwardly trying to work up to his next question, which was going to be “how are YOU doing?” Because the more Dearka looks at Raidou and his paler-than-usual complexion, the more low-key concerned he’s growing.]
Oh, sure… Long as you don’t mind. I wouldn’t wanna overstay my welcome.
[He says that, but he’s also already walking in through the open door.]
Just coffee for me though. Kinda feels wrong to eat some of the same thank-you gift I just handed off.
[Raidou's room is surprisingly cozy. You'd think a guy like this would have a rather spartan living space, and it was, for awhile. Now, there are two comfy chairs with a small table between them - meant for having visitors over coffee. That's where he sets down the bag of snacks, and gestures for Dearka to have a seat. Raidou moves to the wall cabinet next to his desk, where he has his mugs, percolator, press, and precious coffee. It's not always easy to find in this world.
He closes and slides his school work to the side to work with his coffee accoutrements. above the desk hangs a string of Polaroid photos, entwined with little fairy lights. The photos are almost exclusively Yuji, or Raidou with Yuji, who's definitely the one who had the idea for a decoration. Raidou's idea of decoration is the nearby heirloom sword on display on a rack, perfectly polished and preserved. There's also a big, round, tiger plush at the end of the bed - guess who's idea that was, too.]
Please do help yourself. I know you brought them, but things like that taste better when you share them.
[With his back to Dearka, there's the faintest hint of a smile in his voice.]
