Huh... It was one of these buttons...

(Ah, wait, it must be the image of the... trumpet? The horn. And he pushes that and his hover car stops but unfortunately, the other keeps going.)

[To get away from the screaming car. Taryon hooks his hand into the hand and tugs.

(And grabbing it just makes it go on for even longer.)

[He yanks the door to the hovercar open and hops onto the passenger's seat. His guess is correct: when he closes the door, the alarm is less annoying, although remaining here for long sounds just as bad.]

(Yeah, but it's still making a noise outside so it's just everyone else's problem now when Tsurumaru slips inside and also closes the door.

When he's in the driver's seat.... the whole car lights up, though and a WELCOME message comes up on a holo video screen on the dashboard. What comes next is a woman's voice that reads from the same screen,)

"Where would you like to go today?"

(Tsurumaru pats the driver's wheel,)

Eeh, make it stop. It's seriously noisy outside.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand. Do you mean...

... Make a pit stop?
... Stop the engines?
... Stop all functions?

[Taryon sounds so proud for remembering what's he's studied about powered vehicles.

He leans in to speak directly into the steering wheel, because where else was a driver supposed to be?] Turn off the car alarm.

"Turning off car horn functionality."

Wait, what?

(WOAH.... Tsurumaru whips his head around so fast he might get whiplash.)

I didn't know you knew how to use this!

Uh— yes! Yes, I got this. We just have to...

[The car alarm had completed its cycle of screaming, and it stops. The neighboring alarm continues to beep loudly.]

Do that. So. How do you drive it?

[cranekin]

Oh, that part's easy.

(He says so casually and he just pats the steering wheel,)

Itztihui! (And the car pings and lights up to show it's awaiting a command,) Take us to "the subway."

Understood. Now configuring. Processed.

(A little navigation screen shows up in front of them and the car begins to drive. A dot on the screen meant to be them begins to move along with them.)

[He sounds rather disappointed.]

That's it? We just sit here, and it teleports us?

...That's actually kind of cool.

It's really cool, right? I can see why they replaced horses with these.

(Oh, but he misses horseback, though.)

Aah... I can't really swing a sword from this carriage, though!

What about opening these windows? [He knocks on the glass with a knuckle.] There's enough space to stick your arm and head, if you try.

That still wouldn't be as fun!

(He taps the window and it begins to open... oh. So it works like that too, huh?)

The fun of being on horseback is being able to move freely and quickly. This car has the speed but not the same freedom.

Well. Damn. [He falls back onto the plush, expensive seat.] It wouldn't been pretty cool if we could charge into battle with guns blazing.

[...Although the car is moving very slowly considering they are still in the process of exiting the parking garage.]

Can you control its speed?

Oh, yeah. That's easy.

(His foot is tapping on the floor....)

There's an "accelerator." If you press down on it, it goes faster. You can also do this,

(And he clears his throat,)

Increase speed.

(The engine begins to rev and it does, in fact, start to speed up as it leaves the garage. It looks like it's still keeping within some sort of legal limit.)

[Taryon lifts his foot and angles his body to lie against the car door to step over that small barrier between the driver and passenger seat and blindly search for whatever Tsurumaru was tapping.] Maybe if I--

[He pushes on the brake pedal. The car lurches to a stop, and Taryon rolls off of the seat with one foot on the floor and the other kicking up.]

(THE CAR COMES TO A SUDDEN STOP and Tsurumaru hits the useless steering wheel. It lets out a loud BEEP and he recoils back from surprise,)

Not that one! This one!

(And he taps the accelerator which makes them zip ahead for like, 1 second before it slows down.)

[Taryon jerks into the seat when they car accelerates, then slides to the front as their speed drops. One shoulder has fallen off the seat, and the only reason he hasn't fallen to the floor is the hand that is propping his entire torso up.]

Hold on, hold on. I need some time. [He wiggles his foot in front of Tsurumaru's face.]

(Please remove your foot from his face.... but let's say a safety feature kicks in and the car just stops and starts blaring at them to fasten their seatbelts and to remain seated.)

I think the car makes it easy for us.

(Since it's kind of in control.)

[That loud warning beeping is a godsend. Taryon has the time and stability to scoot himself back onto the car seat and remove his foot from damaging Tsurumaru's face.]

Understood. [Ah, he sees that Tsurumaru is hooking that belt over his shoulder and waist, so Taryon should do the same. He goes through the safety precaution and grips the edge of his seat.] Cars are wonderful, complext things.
