CONTENT WARNINGS: suggestive themes, egg hatching, parenthood.

▶ 001. WINNERS CIRCLE.

During this time period, the Outsiders would typically have been met with a makeshift party with poorly placed balloons and streamers. However, this time it’s just a bulletin board with the following message scrawled out on it:

Even though the mission was a partial success, there are still sponsors who were impressed with the actions of the recognized Outsiders. They also believe those who have contributed are still able to provide relief to the people, and should not be criticized too harshly due to their efforts.

In light of this, the base will have an increase of various lab-made spices delivered by a certain sauce company that heard a certain Outsider has a preference for spicy food. Apparently, the spices pair perfectly with their lab-made chicken.

Maybe it’s a coincidence with a certain network name but the Nice Toy Company also endorses the base and creates a whole line of toy guns in the airsoft and BB variety which replicate antique guns that any collector would salivate over! These are distributed on base and can be seen sold at many stores in Neo Tokyo. There has also been an influx of people who are passionate about fitness and training, sparking a trend for those who work out in bunny outfits. Supposedly, it’s something they’ve seen in a prior battle with the kaiju and so the workout is full of intense cardio, and even bunny hops.

Makima’s face will be found on several brands of what appears to be packaged dog food, however it is unclear if it is really dog food or not. Either way, several hundreds of packages have been delivered to base and are stored as “emergency rations.” Everyone on base is free to grab a snack or two at any time!

For those Outsiders worrying about whether or not they'll be docked pay for only taking down one Imugi instead of both, worry no more! Everyone will wake up one morning with a notification that 300,000 KRYPTOS (~2100 USD) have been deposited into their account. It seems pulling double shifts at their civilian jobs won't be necesssary...

▶ 002. PROJECT EGG.

With the last mission ending in the retrieval of the Imugi eggs, the research teams have been left with one major question: what will they do with them? After some initial discussions, it has been decided that they would keep the eggs and attempt to raise them into maturity in order to see if they could garner more insight into not just the kaiju itself, but of their abilities. It is also their desire to see what the relationship between kaijus and the rifts are, and they believe this would be the best opportunity to do so.

The only caveat to this, however, is who would care for them in the meantime? From previously documented research, they found that kaiju eggs are not easy to raise, especially those who mirror lizard-like creatures. They need special attention that exceeds that of what people would typically expect from egg-rearing. Due to this, LILITH is asking for help from the Outsiders to temporarily tend to the eggs. The Outsiders will be working in shifts to watch the eggs, and are expected to care for them properly. It is noted that for kaiju who have been separated from their mothers, the chances of them hatching are very slim, and so they are not expecting each and every egg to hatch. They are, however, expecting Outsiders to put forth their best efforts in spite of that. At least, it’s one less thing to be blamed for.

Outsiders are expected to sign up for egg raising shifts and will get a single egg to care for. They are to be with the egg at all times during their shift, and negligence will not be tolerated. Occasionally, the staff will send drones to check in and also deliver food items and energy drinks in order to ensure that the eggs are being properly cared for. Eating or destroying the eggs is prohibited.

Coming up with names, however, is encouraged, and Seok Dang has even set up a small contest for it....

▶ 003. OPEN FORUM.

As soon as the order is delivered for them to take care of the eggs, a new download will be prompted on everyone’s oculars. It comes suddenly and without any real explanation. When it loads in, people will find that it appears to look like the “forums” of old. They have various topics already posted, including a bolded one that remains pinned at the top of everyone’s oculars labeled “PARENTING FOR DUMMIES.”

When anyone clicks on it, or even allows their eyes to linger on it for too long, it will automatically open. The explanation at the top is as follows:

I see what you all look up in your free time and I think you could use the help.

Who wrote this cryptic message? Their identity has been kept anonymous, but it seems clear that Outsiders are meant to utilize this to field any questions in regards to the eggs they have been ordered to care for. Some of the questions already include “do I keep them warm by sitting on them?” and “what can I do to provide further enrichment?”

While most of these topics pertain to parenting, if one exits the parenting tab, they will find the forum is entirely opened up for other topics as well, including a GENERAL chat, and a thread created by Seok Dang called “AITA.” Apparently, this was all the rage once upon a time.

Welcome to our fourth downtime mingle! For the naming contest, we are limiting submissions to one name per character. This is entirely for fun and there is no obligation to participate.

We decided to keep the mingle lighter this time due to the number of player events ongoing. Please do check out the SPA UPGRADE and the ROYAL GALA also occurring this month. EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)

1. WINNER'S CIRCLE: The heavy hitters/KO winners of the last kaiju fight receive their sponsorships, including spices, BB guns, training videos, and fancy dog food.

2. PROJECT EGG: Outsiders are tasked with caring for and attempting to hatch the Imugi eggs salvaged from Seoul. They are encouraged to try a variety of methods in order to get the eggs to hatch, as no data currently exists. Not all eggs will survive.

[ well, isn't this embarrassing. ishmael's style upgrade has never glitched on her before, save for the initial download, but apparently the bunny training regimen has been a huge craze that's making waves across the city that it just... forces her into a black bunny suit complete with ears and a tail when she decided to train one day. of all the time and place to glitch it just had to be now, huh.

sigh.

well, she's not about to miss leg day for this one. she'll be found running away at the treadmill, trying to keep a straight face as she focuses ahead -- only to put a halt on that as she slides herself off the machine and onto a bench in exasperation. ]

I can never learn how to run on these. [ she whines, peeling off her heels because ow. ] I was supposed to try the pole today, too...

[ she stares forlornly at the pole at the corner of the room because surprise, there's one now. just workout junkie things (though she's not at that level yet if she's still :/ about the bunny thing). ]

ii. pool
[ she's not keen with the concept of parenting as a whole, but since everyone is in on it, she may as well keep an eye out on one of them to see what it's like. she recalls that L Corp used to take care of abnormalities that take the form of eggs when defeated so she's not looking forward for when one of these hatch and wreak havoc on the base and cause a lobocorp 2......

oh well, this time she can be found in the indoor pool, doing laps while steering the egg in its very own floatie. OR she could be floating in the still water, staring blankly into the ceiling, while said egg floats beside her. it's one of those rare times where she feels at peace with herself -- at least until a fellow outsider arrives. ]

[ drinking milk is tradition after a nice long bath, but ishmael can't help but look more into the other flavors the vending machine offers. traditional and seasonal flavors aside, the WHITE one intrigues her enough that she accidentally(?) grabs two. whoops. ]

Here, can you take the other one? [ she approaches a familiar (or unfamiliar) face. ] It's named "WHITE" for some reason. Somehow I really doubt that this is actual milk.

ii. massage parlor
[ so here ishmael is, in nothing but a towel around her person and her hair tied back into low twintails as she configures one of the robot masseuses with a button press or two. her brows are creased together though as she looks increasingly uncertain about the whole thing. ]

I still don't trust these things, though. [ she can't help but mumble aloud. ] We might end up becoming human pretzels by the time they're done with any of us.

[ Ishmael is one that the young remnant remembers. The one who had landed against him during the time of the traps. One of the ones he had picked up and carried back to base. He's sure, honestly, he should've apologized for something at that time. Unfortunately, human emotions were still foreign and new to him. He was learning though.

When she hands him the drink that was called WHITE he stares at it for a moment before looking back at her. ]

Do we know what any of these truly are?

Well, if you've never had milk before -- they come from cows. Usually. It's just odd putting down this flavor as "white" when it could've just mentioned... I dunno, plain old "milk" or something.

[ It wasn't exactly a 'duh' moment to him. Though, he's still learning where all these emotions and how to be human are concerned.

His own bottle is opened and he isn't sure what the scent of it was, not really. ]

Never had use for any of that.

[ Until he'd shown up here he'd never had food, drink, or allowed his body to rest. There had been no use for any of it. ]

[ The unfamiliar face in this case takes the offered bottle of milk before she even registers what's happening, she's kind of caught off guard by the sudden act of spontaneous sharing. She's seen Ishmael around the Brimstone dorm once or twice possibly but they haven't really talked. So far Kaga's been under the impression all her fellow Brimstones are kind of, well, not the social types. ]

Ah, thank you. [ She takes a moment to inspect the bottle. She's seen it on the options, sure, but she hasn't gone for it herself yet. ] They wouldn't try to poison us... would they?

[ it's not hard to miss a fox girl in the crowd, what with the ears and tails and all. at this point, ishmael's seen weirder shit and she won't lie, she resembled the sunshower E.G.O outis and yi sang have.

still, ishmael likes to think that she herself is sociable enough -- though her demeanor might reflect her fellow brimmies the more kaga looks into it. anyway: ]

Probably not. They'd want us to be alive and kicking for the next ordeals ahead. [ she pops her bottle open. ] Must be some kind of promo, but the fact that it's "white"-flavored is... concerning. Like how some sports drinks are "blue"-flavored or whatever.

[ That's going to have to be good enough for Kaga. It would be pretty crazy for LILITH to go poisoning their own soldiers, though the extent of the punishment they gave out seems pretty crazy too after she got context on it. ]

Well, if I can drink coolant this shouldn't be a problem... [ Popping her own bottle open she takes a careful sip. Which leads to her looking more confused than ever, narrowing her eyes at the bottle while her ears twitch. ]

Weird. Not bad but... weird.

[ It's like there's a party in her mouth, everyone was invited, and everyone brought extra Milk on top of the other flavors. ]

[ tbf those bozos who got punished had it coming... :/ and it's not like they'll be losing their powers or basic necessities permanently anyway. ]

Eugh. I wouldn't call it slop, but... [ takes a small sip this time. ] It's... an acquired taste, I suppose?

[ she doesn't hate it, it just-- takes her mouth a while to get acclimated, is all. ]

[ That fellow outsider who comes to disturb her sense of peace and calm is the resident expert at causing disturbances. Stuck in human form and attempting to capture some sense of normalcy, which is why he's headed to the pool and plopped himself into the deep end without any ceremony.

In his attempts to be normal however the big guy's kinda, well, failed. Badly. He's wearing the loungewear that everyone has assigned to them. Shirt, pants, and all. It's probably a minor miracle he had enough sense to not wear socks or shoes into the water. Once he bobs himself up to the surface he notices he is in fact, not alone, and makes a mental note that he needs to check these things. If he'd been in his real bulk Ish or the egg she has with her could've been hurt. ]

Ah, Ishmael. Greetings. [ He raises a hand in said greeting, sleeve soaking god damn wet. He's a mess. ] You are adapting to parental duties well, yes?

[ there he is, the man (???) of the hour. it's not that ishmael is mad at him in particular for escalating that mess in the halls a while ago, but she still greets goji with a flat look on her face when she stops paddling laps around the pool. ]

Guess you could say that. Though what I'm doing is hardly "parental".

[ the egg bobs in its floatie with no response whatsoever as ishmael steers it to the edge of the pool, hoisting herself up and out before sitting down. ]

Are you that excited to take your turn? [ why else would he be here apart from getting wet ]

[ Surprise Ishmael, the big guy is here exactly to just get wet. He proceeds to lean back and just float lazily on the water, making a content growling noise. ]

I do not deny that I have found value in the time spent with the eggs, however I did not come here seeking to relieve you of your watch before time. I simply seek the familiarity of water. When one is under stress things they are used to are the best cure, are they not?

I was just doing my duty. I'm not as attached to these eggs, believe it or not.

[ but at least she's not planning on harming them anytime soon. LILITH needs them in order to do what needs to be done with them, after all.

But you're right. It's been a stressful couple of weeks, so I sometimes spend my time in the water and just... float. Like what you're doing right now.

[his workout involves multiple stations with multiple exercises on different days, starting early in the morning for run or cardio, then moving to strength training and combat practice in the afternoons. cool down in the evenings if he feels like it (or needs it) but it's uncommon. just because he's not at u.a. doesn't mean bakugo's going to fall out of his school life's schedule. it helps keep him focused during his time here, a sense of control and normalcy that's all his own.

velcro crinkles against itself as he affixes the fabric weights to his forearms, a guard sheathing beneath them so to not soak them in sweat. public gym weights. you can do things to avoid being gross. pushing off the bench, he heads for one of the treadmills, only to pause when...

why the fuck is this ginger wearing a bunny suit? that's one of the stupidest ideas for workout clothes! the fact she's even managing to keep herself going on the treadmill in heels is fucking ridiculous. several female heroes were heels on their costumes, but most of them aren't stiletto.]

Besides, working out while wearing this has been all the rage lately thanks to someone I knew back home. Seems it's some kind of reward for last month for some reason... [ rip gebura ]

it even affects the plugsuits. tch, whatever. he steps up onto a treadmill and eyes over the settings before keying in a certain terrain imitation and time to hit. the meter counter switches up a few seconds later.]

Were they one of the four "winners" from the last kaiju fight? [bakugo would usually have said that in a derisive tone, but given what their battle in seoul entailed... his gruff voice is neutral.]

[ ehh, weighs hands. during the maid day fiasco, ishmael wasn't too bothered by the mass glitching of the style upgrades -- mostly because she'd started working at a maid cafe herself. she shrugs noncommittally. ]

On my end, yeah. Should've waited to do this the next day, but there's nothing to be done but to wait it out, I guess.

[ just because she finds herself in a rather embarrassing outfit does not mean she's about to miss leg day. you improvise, adapt, and overcome. and speaking of adapting, she's just going to do some stretches on the bench on the meantime. ]

Mhm. Miss Gebura, aka REDMIST got a pretty good hit on the Imugi, which is unsurprising. [ on account of being one of the most powerful people from her City and all. ] Not sure why they rewarded her with all this, though. She was actually raging mad about it.
