WHO: callisto regulus & everyone else! WHAT: new years, new catchall, and new gen prompts. WHERE: all around neo tokyo + wherever else! WHEN: varying dates will be in the header. WARNINGS: for now, just general violence!
[ within the cafeteria, callisto can be found casually sitting down on one of the many seats. he has something in front of him that looks like a weird mix between a stuffed animal and just a ball of feathers. he is holding onto this monstrosity (warning, this is a video, actual cursed product can be found here). except unlike it being a unicorn, it is obviously meant to be some type of bird. is this meant as a personal act against birds, or is there a deeper meaning to this?
either way, he seems to be making quick work of shedding it of its outer layers. the area is covered in tufts of its feathers and some may even be landing in the food of people around him. if your eyes linger on callisto for too long, he interjects, his chin resting on his palm as he asks: ]
Are you curious? If you were, all you had to do is ask. As you likely have been taught in your youth, it's rather rude to stare. That could be grounds for punishment in some countries. [ example of such countries? none. ]
โ002. TRAINING/MISSION
[ the training facilities werenโt exactly what he was accustomed to, but it did fill in the gaps for keeping him relatively busy. since transylvania, it did wonders to keep his mind from straying into darker borders; each memory a keen reminder to all the treachery that lurks about the corners, and all everyone has to inevitably lose. maybe without fully recognizing it, it does make him strive to increase his own strength in these lands.
while he couldnโt exactly put stock into what he doesnโt know— body modifications, strange drugs, and other furtive, seemingly mysterious methods— he could trust in what heโs always known. the tactile feeling of his blade gripped firmly in his hands, and the stance he often wore so well one the battlefield.
in middle of such a training session, he stops when he hears someone else enter the room, almost curiously he stops. he seems to peer at this individual up and down, before he cocks his head slightly, his lips curved into a devious sort of smile. ]
You look rather bored. Fortunately for you, I have just the thing.
[ ooc: where he either ropes you in for a mission, or for sparring. ♥ ]
โ003. โ SOULMATES
[ whether on the network or through a personal text, you see a message pop up on the oculars. ]
Recently, I had heard something quite amusing. Apparently, there are those out there that believe in the concept of a soulmate. Do you believe such a naive thing could be real? As if feelings could be anything more than temporary. Admittedly, I was curious and had looked into, however I remain wholly unconvinced.
Share your views, and perhaps if it satisfies my curiosity, I can reward you accordingly.
I look forward to your responses.
โWILDCARD!
[ if none of the above works, lmk, and i can definitely write a custom starter. i am always down for any sort of plotting, so feel free to pm me! also, for prompt 002, let me know if you had a mission in mind, or i can just wing it. ]
That was a rather poetic and roundabout way to say that you did not believe a single word of it. Since you seem so firm on your stance, why do you believe that to be the case? Please spare no detail.
[ so then he can relay it to the mysterious person he seems to have a grudge on. ]
[Well, Raidou had been minding his own business as he made his way through the cafeteria, but then a bright purple feather lands right on his food tray that he had been taking back to his room. Right into his cup of miso soup, that is. He blinks at it for a moment, before turning to find the source.
Callisto does cut him off before he can answer, since Raidou often takes a few moments to scrounge up the right words to say. Ever a polite one, he doesn't want to be rude... But if you ask him, Callisto was being rude first, technically.
He holds up a broth-soaked feather.]
... I was just trying to figure out where this came from. Perhaps the cafeteria isn't the best venue for, ah. Plucking?
[ raidou is completely correct... callisto is the rude one
however, in spite of this, callisto appears to be entirely unapologetic. there's no hint of remorse, nor is there any real pause between raidou's clear suggestion, and his own response. ] Nonsense. I am clearly doing just fine, as you can see. You will have to forgive the mess seeing as I could not exactly take my displeasure out on anything else. [ that's a lie, there were a million outlets that didn't have to necessarily be... one specific individual.
or in this case, one proxy plushie.
but, maybe he finds it comical or ironic to focus his energy into this. ]
[ two glowing pair of red eyes just existing within the same place like the chill guy meme. but, that aside, callisto's eyes do stay fixed on his sword for a moment too long. perhaps, assessing it his own way. not unlike the way he studies the tone of his voice. ]
Well, what other method is there but matching blades? You do appear ready to do that all on your own. [ gesturing towards him, and the obvious fact that he walked in here with his own two feet. ] Unless, you are lacking in confidence?
But, I would say by our last conversation, you did not seem all too opposed to laying your hands on me.
As my aide, should you not know my intentions before even I do? It looks like I have not made your work hard enough if you still have the will to question me each time.
[ meaning... he's def. asking to harass someone. ]
[ crime never sleeps. and neither does hunter. part of the reason he finds himself back here, undercover at a seedy bar in the kabuki-cho district, as a busboy. he's cleaning glasses and clearing away plates as he observes talks happening between politicians and what are very likely gang members. unfortunately for hunter, faces have changed a lot since he'd last been doing recon, and he's behind on who's who ]
[ that being said, as he comes to take a certain man's empty glass away, his eyes widen ever so slightly as he recognizes him as callisto. ]
[ of course he doesn't say anything to tip anyone off, instead: ]
Are you finished with that, sir?
[ hopefully callisto doesn't get too smug about being called 'sir' ]
[ another day, another scenario in which they get swept up in the underbelly of crime in this city. this wouldn't be the first time he's inexorably stuck his nose into something, only for it to swiftly nip him in the ass. much like how now that he's seen hunter, he can't simply carry forth without satisfying his own curiosity. ]
Sir? [ callisto be normal challenge.
he recites the word as if the idea of it was foreign to me. not only had hunter never referred to him by that, but it's also... an entirely incorrect title. ] I think I would be more keen to answer if you had called me Your Highness.
[ is this the time for such petty jest? probably not, but with his voice a little lowered, he does ask: ]
What brings you here? [ despite his attitude, at least he isn't alerting those around them to the fact that they know each other. ]
[ can you hear his snide little tone callisto... scolding you ( affectionate ) ]
You are a tactless cretin, as ever.
Soulmates may be a laughable frivolity to you, but they, as well as the soul, are entirely real. I have held them in my bare hands in multiple forms and for multiple reasons.
but, what a familiar sight indeed. even if it's just sir red's name on the ocular implants. ]
My, my. Yes, it could hardly be labeled a debate without your input.
Self-proclaimed gods truly do have the most to say. You may have held them, but who is to say they are bonded with one another? If such a thing existed, would you in all your grace not be the ones who would want such individuals drawn together? Why make things more difficult, if not for spite?
You may be better off sticking to the stance that they simply aren't real. It would be less cruel at that point.
[ Just because he got isekai'd into a new world doesn't mean he can slack off on training. Besides, he has to know what other abilities were taken away from him, because it's already annoying enough that he no longer has access to his full army. That he literally just acquired, too.
Even Bellion is baffled by the loss of it, but what can they do? At least he has his generals, and a few other stronger shadows. He'll make do with them alone— he always does.
But his sour mood is forgotten when someone speaks to him as soon as he steps foot into the training area. An eyebrow arches itself delicately. ]
[ the man who steps in did seem formidable in his own right. not exactly like the peerage of knights, nor does he seem to carry himself quite like a common mercenary... was he also a magician, by chance? but, then there would have been no need for his webtoon build...
but, that's just perfect. ] Oh? Are you that enthusiastic to throw yourself into the fray? I have to say such an attitude is quite commendable. [ here is callisto reaching out with his gloved hand and giving the stranger's shoulder a tight squeeze. ]
I figured we could move our bodies. There are always quests to do, or even simulations to run. Are you familiar with either? [ callisto... truly a man who just does things on a whim. but, the battlefield is no different in a way. people didn't always have a choice in who they entrusted their bodies to. ]
not a one among their ranks could "punish" him, as far as shadow was concerned. no one but LILITH themselves. )
Your... training exercise is more of a distraction than anything else. Relocate.
( he says it with an unamused sigh from a seat nearby, withdrawn and huddled over a digital manual of the base's past encounters with the creatures they're destined to fight. a model of a warped, boar-like creature hovers just above it, shadow rotating it lightly with a gloved finger, as if he's visibly locating for a weak point. unbeknownst to him, there are already... scattered bits of feather clinging to his back along his spikes. )
[ had callisto not met godzilla that night at the gala, he may have had much more to say. ... and infinite more to ponder upon, especially when his eyes land on shadow. mister seemingly magical beast himself (callisto's opinion). realistically, he isn't sure what category this "creature" fell into, but at the same time, as with concepts he didn't fully comprehend, he feels it may not have been in his best interest to find out.
at least, not yet.
but, does this stop his eyes from rudely lingering upon shadow for seconds too long? or correct the way in which his mouth falls agape in those specified seconds? not at all, but by the time he catches himself, he does seem to discover himself more focused in on his words. which are by all means... surprisingly human. ]
I suppose it was foolish to inquire about ones... animalhood.
[ that's not how it works, but callisto is nothing but confident with his words, even when he's entirely off the mark. ] And if I refuse? Ah, before you grace me with any threats, you should know... feathers really do suit you.
[ you're welcome. he waves his hand alongside his words, each punctuated with an ever regal sort of undertone. now, if only the feathers flying off his hand and floating towards shadow's model boar weren't actively soiling this image... and shadow's? ]
Dunno about 'soulmates' exactly, but back home we gods have matchmaking events where we weave favorable ties between humans. Between gods, too, but mainly it's for ensuring mortals have peace and happiness.
True naivety is ascribing your own limitations (emotional unavailability, trust issues, inability to form lasting relationships, overwhelming fear of attachment, etc) to reality (the concept of soulmates).
And before you ask: yes, I am being overly harsh. Unfortunately, this is the only language you appear to understand.
[ Coming across this scene is more upsetting than it reasonably should be. It's only a misshapen plush toy, barely recognizable as a bird, and its plucked feathers are artificial โ still, Yesod watches Callisto's fingers and the tufts torn from the bird to make a mess. He isn't thinking of that, even, not immediately.
When Callisto addresses him, Yesod's posture stiffens as though he didn't realize that he'd stopped in his tracks to stare in the first place, remembering himself now. His brow furrows. ]
...You must have been aware that you would have an audience here.
[ if there was one thing about any venture whilst in the midst of war, it was the value of downtime. considering there's been so pressing new revelations since they've arrived and attempted to get settled into the mysteries of the kaiju, he has mostly been walking through their makeshift camp sites, and the spaces in which the outsiders may have occupied. it may not have entirely been on purpose, either.
whether he sees ereshkigal from a distance, or simply found this perfect timing to approach her since the last time they left things, callisto will appear behind her. per usual, there's no shortage of confidence in his stance, or the way in which he tilts her head.
was that a chocolate in her hands...? ] My lady, [ he whispers in close to her. ] is there a reason you appear so restless today? [ entirely his own perception. she could have been completely composed and he would still probably use these words. ]
[ there's no doubt that others take the destruction of the base with varying degrees of sorrow. he isn't sure if it's simply in the thought of being displaced, or that in the months of them living here that they may have mistakenly believed this to be a piece of home. fortunately for callisto, nothing has ever felt like that for him. not the empire, not the several battlefields, there was simply... nowhere. there could have been a brief illusion of such a place, but callisto didn't have the emotions to spare for that.
it was already enough to think of all those who have left them behind. likely heading back to happier pastures. but, he chooses not to think of that here. instead, he inspects each piece of fallen rubble with a sort of chuckle. does he look insane... maybe just a little.
maybe it's good that he sees a familiar face in this, as he gives a small wave of his hand. ] Sir Vash, nice of you to join me. Were you searching for anything in particular? [ should callisto himself have been relieved that he brought most of his gifts?
