DOWNTIME MINGLE #6 + TEAM BUILDING
βΆ 001. STATE OF THE BASE.
It's been a suspiciously sleepy past few months back on LILITH's base. The onslaught of Transylvania has left some Outsiders with both physical and mental wounds that still may need tending to. Some may still be participating in LILITH's on base therapy services or rehabilitation services for those who needed a prosthetic, teaching Outsiders how to accommodate to their prothetics efficiently.
The Imugi eggs from last year have hatched! Two new Imugis have been taken care of in a RESTRICTED area for observation, one male and one female. The rest of the Imugi, unfortunately, did not make it. Outsiders may visit these Imugi from behind glass if they wish; this is part of the RESTRICTED area on base. Any Outsiders who might have been cleared to help with this project will see that the Imugi sleep a lot. They are mostly active at dawn and dusk, but especially for the cold season, they are sluggish and want to rest during this brumation period. Their diet are small crustaceans, snails, small fish. As of now, they harness no powers or strength. LILITH wants to keep them away from exposures, so most Outsiders will have to observe them in a nursery behind glass. Any Outsider involved in this project must be full body sterilized upon entering and exiting the nursery. This means stripped down and pressure washed with pre-made sterilization. It's not recommended to see the Imugi in person unless necessary. Their names are Noodle and RAGING MURDER TERROR TEMPEST DRAKESTORM or "Tempest" for short. These are results per the contest that was held a few months ago.
The orphanage side-project has been a success, and children misplaced from the Transylvania wreckage are properly cared for, both with Outsiders, civilian caretakers and AI robots. There is still some building and construction work to be completed, but the orphanage is livable for the children now.
On base, however, LILITH's crew, have detected some very heavy rift energy nearby, but the oddest thing is.. they can't detect where it is at exactly. They send out their researchers to try and find the source to different areas of Japan, but despite all the searching, there doesn't seem to be a rift anywhere. Could it be a glitch? Or something else? Maybe it's something harnesses rift energy? Something that moves fast and something that can disappear or camouflage. Stay tuned... and be on alert.

βΆ 002. THE SEOK DANG GAMES: PLAYGROUND
"Aww, I missed seeing you guys have so much fun with each other! Breathe it in, the SIMULATION ARENA air! So crisp, so artificial. C'mon, let's PAR-TAY, bitches! Remember, if your teammates aren't driving you crazy, you're not doing it right!"
With Outsiders needing to be ready for whatever mission they will be tasked for yet, Seok Dang has an idea on how to build some healthy competition and get to know your teammates, especially the new ones, with some classic playground games from his homeland. Every Outsider will be asked to participate in the SIMULATION ARENA, though it has gotten a bit of make over to look like a children's playground thanks to hologram technology. Outsiders may group with whoever they like as they play these games, under one condition: the person you are playing with cannot be apart of your team! Everlight can't be against Everlight, etc.
Here are the list of games to play with one another:
Ssireium: Ssireum is similar to Japanese sumo wrestling, with two opponents wrestling each other in a sandy ring. The player who throws his opponent to the ground scores a point. Traditionally practiced as combat and self-defense, ssireum was also part of rituals conducted in the ancient tribal states. The goal is to score 5 points.
Neolttwigi: It's close enough to Korean New Year for this game, and in the year 2279, anyone can play this game, not just women. Neolttwigi is similar to seesaw, except that participants stand on each end of the neol (board) and jump, propelling the person opposite into the air. When performed as a spectacle, acrobatic tricks such as flips or skipping rope while in the air are often included. Try not to hurt yourself, but show off the most impressive stunt you can! Medics will be nearby.. just in case.
Dalgona: A Korean street food candy game where players try to carefully carve out a pre-stamped shape from a thin, honeycomb-like sugar candy without breaking it, often gaining a free candy if they succeed. The shapes Outsiders will find are modeled after the kaiju they have defeated: Shachimon, Imugi, Pricolici and Yamadenki. Shachimon is the easiest shape and Pricolici is the hardest shape. Outsiders can use any method to remove this shape from the honeycomb but will be given a needle by default.
βΆ 003. THE SEOK DANG GAMES: SQUID
In this game, the offense must move outside the squid and around to the defensive house's bottom "gate". Once inside the squid, the offense must pass through the defensive house. To win, the offense must tap the closed-off space on the squid's head with their foot. Characters are encouraged to use any method to win against one another, which can sometimes turn violent. Use abilities or powers, it's all fair game here. There will be a buzzer at the squid's head and the offensive player must step on it.
Submit a thread or toplevel that has this prompt as part of it to be entered in an RNG elimination round. We will announce the Squid Winner overall on January 25th! Please submit your thread by January 23rd. Don't worry. Nobody dies for losing any of these games, but players are welcome to allow LILITH deduct some of their next pay out if they lose too many of these games. Some stakes are on the line!

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. STATE OF THE BASE: The past few months on the LILITH base has been suspiciously quiet and Outsiders have enjoyed a break where they can focus on rebuilding what they may have lost in October, tend to the cultist children, and the cats in Neo Tokyo who have been suffering from rift poisoning. Unbeknownst to the Outsiders, LILITH's crew has detected some very heavy rift energy from Neo Tokyo, but are having a hard time locating where it could be coming from. LILITH instructs Outsiders to be prepared.
2. THE SEOK DANG GAMES: GAME 1: Seok Dang is growing bored and puts the Outsiders through some character building activities. He brings all of the Outsiders to the SIMULATION ARENA and provides them with four mini games to play to build character participation and interaction.
3. THE SEOK DANG GAMES: GAME 2 Seok Dang is growing bored and puts the Outsiders through some character building activities. The second game is SQUID. Submit a thread for participation!
4. SYNDER: To encourage character relationships, SYNDER has appear back online on all of the oculars and Outsiders are encouraged to fill out a profile.. or AI will do it for them.

How was I supposed to know you were hiding a damn bow!
[ With a growl she moves in low, ducking as if she means to come in under his guard again. Instead she spins, twirling to the side, and whipping several of her tails to the ground and up in a circular motion, billowing hot dirt up into Yato's face. Her hands move forward in that same motion seeking to grasp his arm and attempt to put him into a lock. ]
Got you now you little...!

That's why it's called a surprise attack...!
[For his part, Yato tries to bring a knee up to meet her going low, but comes away missing due to her abrupt change in tactics. The spray of searing dirt gets him covering his face with an arm as he stumbles from the shock; he's only saved from falling thanks to Kaga snagging him by the arm and pinning him in a solid hold.]
Ngh--! Feisty wench...!
[For his part, with his face scrunched up thanks to the dirt, he lets his legs buckle, hoping the sudden weight will force her to either let go or join him in tumbling to the ground.]

What did you call me..?! I'll--
[ Whatever she's going to say is lost as Yato drops his weight and takes her with him. She lets go so she can use her hands to push herself back off the ground, forward momentum causing her to summersault. Once she's back on her feet she wheels around on her heel and flings another shikigami straight at her opponent. ]
Lecherous bastard!

[Thankfully his efforts pay off, forcing Kaga back and allowing him to escape temporarily for now at least. Rolling back and onto his own feet as well, he has just enough time to slash at the shikigami, sending the two pieces of it to either side of him. He then dances back several paces, grinning at the insult.]
Can't argue with you there!
[Again, he switches weapons back to his bow, aiming high this time so the lot of them are angled to rain down on Kaga.]

Damn you!
[ Something takes off from the flight deck floating behind her, blue flames resolving into the shape of one of her newer helicopters. They're not really meant for combat, their laser turrets more for defense than anything, but that's not why she's summoned it. Once it hovers up a good twenty feet above Kaga's head the aircraft increases in size, becoming as large as an SUV. If the rotor blades don't push Yato's arrows away, the body of the aircraft will at least block the blows.
Kaga once more charges forward at Yato, her clothes flapping in the wind created by the downward force of the rotors, her teeth bared, flames sparking off of her tails in every direction. As she runs both hands form into fists to summon three shikigami a piece, she throws one group, waits a beat, then flings the other group at Yato, a total of six blazing paper figures heading his direction. ]
I'll snap that damn bow and make you eat it!
[ They're friends! ]

Hehe, 'fraid not...!
[He has to stare at her newer summon, mouth slightly agape as it grows to such an enormous size and easily deflects his arrows with its blades, the few that don't get deflected bouncing harmlessly off the body of the thing. He'll have to keep that in mind as they fight: she can summon big honking vehicles that fly.
But then it's Kaga he has to worry about, with her charging him full steam ahead, enraged to the point it actually makes him grin nervously. He abruptly starts backpedaling to continue keeping a little distance between them while he draws his bow again, shooting off a multitude of arrows at the incoming shikigami, nailing several in the process that explode upon impact.
For those he missed, he grabs his long scarf and tugs it across his face, letting the projectiles of hers hit the fabric instead of him, fully expecting it to merely set it on fire. So when they explode, it comes as a shock, sending Yato hurdling across the way and sliding along the ground, a pained cry escaping in spite of himself.]
Tch! D-Dammit...!

Yato getting himself exploded puts over confidence in Kaga. Rather than keep him covered with the turret of her helicopter, the rotorcraft shrinks back to rc toy size and zips to her flight deck, becoming engulfed in flame and vanishing to whence it came.
She doesn't need it. The rotor draft was going to get in her way. On the last few feet of her charge Kaga is down on all fours, using the enhanced strength of her augmented arm to propel herself faster. Then she leaps into the air, coming down with her leg outstretched in a dive kick aimmed at Yato. ]

[ Or does she? Her trajectory is pretty straight forward, a kinds of ways someone could deal with that! ]

From his position on the ground, he can't quite see her coming so much as hear the repeated thud of her metal limb on the dirt itself, thundering away like a charging bull. Only once she jumps for him can he aim - this time the hilt of his sword that he's drawing from his glove - with the goal of clocking her in the jaw with it once she's close enough by twisting around towards her.
Perhaps her sailing directly at him isn't the best idea...?]

Kaga doesn't see the counter coming until it's far too late. There's a solid crack as the hike connects with her jaw squarely and a short shout of pain as her momentum carries her tumbling to the ground. She rolls a few times before coming to a stop, then slowly picks herself up.
There's blood trailing out of her mouth as she looks over at Yato, her breathing heavy, her eyes slowly losing their glow--
Flop. Right onto her back, the fire in her tails is snuffed out. Kaga looks for all the world like she may be dead if not for the shallow rise and fall of her chest.
Maybe she's beaten already! Or... maybe it's a trap? Only one way to find out. ]

That doesn't mean he's lost his compassion, though-- the sound of her jaw connecting with his weapon is painful enough that he winces, cursing himself mentally but being unwilling to let his heart be swayed. As she lands unceremoniously nearby, he flips himself over andstruggles to get to his knees, wincing from the blow her shikigami did to him.
It looks as if she's down for the count, but honestly? He thought the same thing last time he was training with Bakugo, and his bleeding heart lost him the game.
So he doesn't go in easy, instead pouncing upon her so he's straddling her waist and can pin her wrists down firmly. It looks a bit suspect, honestly, but he doesn't care. This is for the win...!
Breathing hard, he regards her with a harsh if worried glare, lips pursed tight.]

[ Though her eyes are barely focused she does her best to glare right back at Yato, her lips peeling back in a snarl to bare her fangs. ]

It's most certainly a good thing she's had all the wind knocked out of her if she's starting to think like that. This fight goes on any longer and Kaga could be a danger to everyone around, especially herself. ]

[That she still has this much fight left in her makes him grin a bit, shaking his head slowly before he flicks her forehead with a finger.]

Sighing a bit, he swings a leg over to get off her, sitting cross-legged beside her sprawled out form while leaning back on his hands.]

[ Keyed up as she is, when Yato flicks her forehead she tries to snap at his finger with her teeth. Of course when she tries to strike he's getting off of her and exiting striking range. With an angry snarl she scrambles to get back to her feet, turning over, pushing herself up--
Flop again, falling on her side, facing towards Yato. The entire world is spinning right now. ]
D-damn it... [ She strikes the ground weakly with her fist and then just kind of, lies there, breathing heavily. Closing her eyes so the damn world stops spinning around her. ]
You are... so lucky you're engaged to someone I like.
[... Ominous! Suggestive? Little bit of both.
Once it becomes clear the fight's over Kiko comes trotting along. The guardian fox sniffs at Kaga, presses its nose against hers, which earns Kiko a scratch behind the ears. Content that her master is okay the shikigami proceeds to lay down next to Kaga, let out a yawn, and lay her head on her tails to nap. ]
You... are you hurt at all, Yato?
[ Oh damn, she dropped the condescending honorific entirely. They are friends! ]

[He grumbles as she tries to bite his finger, jerking it away fast enough that she catches air. He watches, amused, when she struggles to come after him; he feels fairly certain of his safety, given everything they've been through.
And it proven correct when she lands on her side. He can't help reaching a hand out to pat her head a couple times.]
It's okay. You did great. Gave me a real run for my money. [Which is true. He's exhausted and smarting and only managed to grasp vistory by the skin of his teeth. Though her remark makes his eyebrows raise curiously.]

[Nervous laughter because whichever meaning is behind those words, it makes him a little giddy!
With both of them out of commission, Yato lets out a long sigh of exhaustion and allows himself to flop down on the ground completely, one arm wrapped over his stomach to clutch at his side. The one where the explosions went off.]
Huh? [Just... "Yato"? Plain Yato? .....wow. For a moment he stares at the sky, baffled, then turns his head to look at her with a smile.] Maybe a bit bruised, but I should be fine. How 'bout you? I didn't cluck you too good in the mouth, did I? Sorry about that.

[ A beat as she rolls over onto her own back, grumbling under her breath darkly. For all of her grousing however Yato's going to find himself with a tail or two resting lightly against his side and leg. ]

[ Grumbled lightly, a little tinge coloring her cheeks that has nothing to do with the exhaustion from their fight. Kaga doesn't admit such things often or easily, saying it out loud, especially after how uh... intense that fight got? That's embarrassing as hell to her.
There's a pause as she reaches up to touch her jaw, wincing and hissing in pain initially, then touching her face a little more gently. ]
Mmm, not too bad, no. Mostly just bit my tongue. [ She turns her head to the side, not towards Yato of course she's not that awful, and spits out some blood. Then sighs. ]

[Taking a risk, he pats the fluff against his side, much like one would pat a friend's hand to reassure them that it's all okay.]

[That admission comes as such a surprise that he doesn't register it at first, but once it sinks in, he can't help but find himself grinning with happiness. They're friends...! Not just nagger and naggee, but actual, genuine friends! It's a good feeling, for sure.
Though his face quickly falls when she makes that pained noise. That's one reason he didn't want to go all out. He never meant to hurt her.]
Okay... I mean, we could get some ice for it if you want. [It might take some effort, but they could manage it. After they rest for a few.]

[ She wouldn't always be on his ass to do better if he wasn't her friend! Hell, she would've done some real lasting damage a long time ago. Stupid, clueless, lout of a god...
A dismissive wave of her hand answers his suggestion. ]

[ And then silence. A beat. Two. Silence falls for a good few minutes before she speaks up again, softly. ]
They call me a demon back home, some of the other KAN-SEN, they say I turn into a different person in a fight... blood thirsty, savage, merciless. As much of a danger to my own side as the enemy. Maybe they're right. I felt something, earlier, pulling at me, it wanted to do... so much more to you.
[ In more ways than one too... She's glad she's looking straight up so he can't see the pink tinge her cheeks take. Creator's sake, these urges are getting intrusive. ]
It's useful, but I have to know when to use it. If it comes down to life or death of myself or my comrades, it's fair game, but the important thing is that I control it, I let it out. Not the other way around.
[ Okay now she turns to look at him, fixing him with those sharp blue fox eyes. ]
That side of you has its use too, Yato. Don't be so afraid of it that you'll be useless in a fight, but don't let it control you either.

[However slowly it took for it to sink in, he finally realizes Kaga's a lot like Bakugo in that she hounds his ass because she cares and wants to see him do better for himself and others. Annoying though it might be at times, he appreciates it.]

[He understands she's tougher than the average person, but it never hurts to check. So when silence falls over them, he's content to close his eyes for a bit, at least until she pipes up again.]
...it's okay to be like that, I think. To have a side of you that wants to maim and kill... So long as you keep it under wraps and don't let it define who you are on the whole. Because clearly that's not all you are, Kaga. You're kind and empathetic, considerate of other people's feelings... Though I'm glad you didn't pummel me to a pulp, heh.

......yeah, like you, I do have a similar side. One I'm afraid of letting out for exactly that reason. I don't want to lose control again like I did at Brasov. Even now I still feel regret at how I behaved there, despite it being somewhat warranted...
[He finally meets her eyes, nodding and with the faintest of blushes on his cheeks.]

[ Next time. There's for sure going to be a next time, either training or serious. Fighting is one of those few things that still make sense to Kaga and the activity keeps her from making... dumber decisions. Yato proving he's more of an equal match than just a chew toy means she'll be coming to him for more of this.
