KAIJU FIGHT #6

KAIJU FIGHT #6

CONTENT WARNINGS: natural disaster, destruction of city, blood, gore, medical needles, toxic gas

β–Ά 001. SOMETHING IN THE SEA (KAGOSHIMA.)

It takes time to traverse the difficult terrain and fend off the corrupt wildlife but eventually, Redemption and Brimstone will arrive at the Ohsumi, where they will be sent coordinates to travel towards Sakurajima. There, they will find a very thin strip of land that forms a sandy and rocky path towards the island. They will be advised to wait until low tide when the path is easiest to cross.

Fortunately, as they wait, they will be largely undisturbed. The poison here is significantly more concentrated and any wildlife that lingers too long suffocates. For safety, Outsiders must continue wearing their protective suits to avoid the same fate.

Finally, the tide begins to recede and gives way to a rough and rocky path towards Sakurajima. The ground is hard and difficult to traverse; some parts are slippery with water. As they cross, a great tremor starts and the waters around them become turbulent. There isn't much to hold onto, but they're at high risk of falling into the sea especially when the land begins to rise.

When the tremors stop, there's a loud, hissing roar. The Outsiders will find themselves on the back of a giant turtle that is disguising itself as a small island. It appears this kaiju is the cause for the rift energy on this side of Japan.

β–ˆ β–ˆ β–ˆ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: Gigakame
HEIGHT: ???
WEIGHT: ???
CLASS: Extremely Dangerous
LOCATION: Kagoshima, Japan
ABILITIES: Breathes toxic gas, inner core is hot with magma, spits fire.
WEAKNESSES: Electricity, destroying and separating the turtle from its shell, filling the core with water.
EXTRA NOTES: This is a kaiju that has never been documented by LILITH before -- not much information can be provided. However, just like normal turtles, it uses its shell as a shield for defense and can be weakened if the shell is destroyed and torn from its body.

β–ˆ β–ˆ β–ˆ ATTACHED PHOTO:

The Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.

Outsiders will be instructed to use water as their advantage as the creature uses fire and magma abilities. Electric attacks will weaken it, but the key is to tear off its shell from its body. Outsiders will be instructed to try this tactic, and after everyone's effort, the Gigakame will be defeated.

β–Ά 002. KAGOSHIMA AFTERMATH.

The Gigakame washes up on shore dead. The bizarre weather begins to normalize, but the poisonous miasma still lingers. Outsiders disembark to Kagoshima's base to depart and assist their other team mates.

Thanks to the clear weather, it's much easier to return to Kagoshima's research base. There, the researchers reveal they have a few emergency teleporters which are only allowed to be used during an emergency. Presumably, there are just enough to evacuate the researchers, but unfortunately, there are more Outsiders. The staff admit they probably won't have enough power to warp everyone safely; they guarantee that the first handful to go through will arrive in Tokyo with minimal issue, but the more they push their machines, the worse the side effects they'll suffer.

Redemption and Brimstone must decide who to send forward first to assist. Either way, everyone on both teams will be successfully teleported to Neo Tokyo, though those who have drawn the shorter straw (literally or figuratively) will suffer more sickness than those who teleported sooner rather than later.

β–Ά 003. SOMETHING IN THE SKY (TOKYO.)

While a huge sigh of relief sweeps the country when the kaiju in Kagoshima is defeated, there’s no actual time to relax. Outsiders will be ushered to go through the makeshift portals and/or are encouraged to find other means of arriving at the outskirts of Tokyo immediately. The Imugi has been spotted, and time cannot be wasted-- this is due to the influx of rift energy that is surrounding the city of Tokyo. While LILITH did complete the basic evacuation measures for the citizens of Neo Tokyo, there’s still an ominous air around the city and it’s not just from the rift poisoning, either. With small rifts cropping up here and there within the city, appearing and disappearing, the LILITH base is the most likely target for the Imugi.

While the hatchlings were moved to different facilities for safekeeping and monitoring, the Imugi seems largely uninterested in chasing them at present. The Imugi is resolved in its movements, and no amount of mimicking the hatchlings' vital readings can sway the Imugi off its intended path. As expected, within three hours of the initial fluctuations in rift energy, the Imugi appears at the emptied base. Similar to its behavior in Seoul, it sweeps over the base erratically, almost as if enraged. Its state is a direct mirror of how it appeared when avenging its mate, and it seems this is just the start.

Utilizing the insurmountable amount of rift energy it has built up around Tokyo, it eventually releases a deafening sound that causes the hatchlings to react, drawn to their mother. They make their way through the rifts, traveling through them at her beckoning, only to end up at the basement of the base. Just like that, the Imugi sinks its large claws through the roof of the structure and destroys not just the base, but also its young.

The energy produced by this creates a devastating explosion that destroys parts of the base and some of the surrounding area. While there were limited casualties due to the evacuation efforts, the area is now heavy with rift poisoning and the Imugi has every intention of destroying the city. It becomes clear that it did not desire to chase its young, but to use them to exact revenge.

β–Ά 004. TOKYO AFTERMATH.

The storms increase in intensity as the Imugi circles around the sky of Neo Tokyo. Fortunately, its ire still appears to be largely focused on the area around the base, and so the torrential downpour and lightning only seems to reach around this immediate area. LILITH tries to keep this space contained, attempting to work on stabilizing some of the rifts in order to cut off the Imugi’s potential escape routes. In the meantime, they will offer Outsiders as many resources as necessary to remain in the fight. They will send in supplies occasionally, including their specialized energy drinks and medical equipment. The new injections they drop off are able to heal light wounds and minor injuries, which can be administered quickly on the field. They anticipate this to be a long battle and advise Outsiders to pace themselves and work together.

β–ˆ β–ˆ β–ˆ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: IMUGI ♀
HEIGHT: 1000 feet across, 30 feet high
WEIGHT: 2000kg
CLASS: Extremely Dangerous
LOCATION: Neo Tokyo, Japan
ABILITIES: Control over weather conditions, including summoning of heavy storms, lightning strikes and hurricanes. Can fly up to 1000 feet. By flying amongst the clouds, Imugi releases chemicals into the atmosphere that bring about acid rain. Armored scales, sharp teeth and claws.
WEAKNESSES: Piercing it in the gaps between its impenetrable scales. There is also a particularly weak spot under on it's neck that will deal significant damage if pierced.
EXTRA NOTES: From its initial appearance and behavior, specialists believe that this female Imugi confirmed to be the mother of the hatchlings. This appears to be the female counterpart to the kaiju in Seoul that was killed by the Outsiders after causing havoc on South Korea. Despite them both being the same type of kaiju, likely derived from the same rift, this kaiju seems slightly more agile and openly aggressive.

By the latter half of the battle, all Outsiders should be accounted for in the final fight.

As expected, the battle lasts for over half a day and with the rift energy dwindling, the Imugi appears to be weakened. In fact, the Imugi has shrunk down to its original size prior to Seoul. Feeling its life is at risk, it uses the last of its energy to flee to the foot of Mt. Fuji. Fortunately, it doesn’t make it to the summit, and the Outsiders will be able to make quick work in pursuing it. For those that require it, ground vehicles and planes will be provided accordingly. Let's make sure it doesn't get away!

Upon arrival, they will see the final battlefront isn’t nearly that dramatic. The Imugi is significantly weakened, barely staving off attacks. Instead, it seems to focus on consolidating energy into its core while thrashing about. Eventually, a killing blow will be delivered but even then, it doesn't die easily. Similar to its young that were sacrificed, it appears to be using its own body to summon a final rift. Unfortunately, it cannot be stopped. Outsiders will be advised to temporarily retreat, after seeing the destruction that its young can do. The Imugi's body glows, increasing in intensity as it continues to gather energy. This is the warning to retreat. Within a matter of minutes, it self destructs, and a new rift is seen in its place. All Outsiders and LILITH are safe. The researchers immediately alert the area to be closed off for inspection.

Upon preliminary examination of this rift, they find that not only did it level a good portion of Mt. Fuji, but the power from it is unparalleled. Unlike the rifts they’ve encountered in prior battles, including their most recent venture in Transylvania, they discover this rift cannot be closed. What could this mean?

β–Ά 005. RE-GROUP.

With parts of the base destroyed and Neo Tokyo undergoing cleanup from the aftermath of the battle, Outsiders will be advised to take a break in the underground bunkers between Mt. Fuji and the city outskirts. As part of Mr. Fuji was also destroyed, some of the bunkers aren’t accessible, but Outsiders will find it is an entire maze of a city beneath the surface. If one traverses far enough, they will find it even connects to the amusement park that they saved last year. Exploration aside, Outsiders will be provided medical assistance and anything else required, and LILITH staff that are on hand will remain devoted to getting things back on track.

In the meantime, Outsiders can utilize whatever supplies are available and use the rooms at the Kyoto base freely. Each room contains anywhere from 2-4 beds, and everyone will be encouraged not to be alone in case of another emergency, especially as the rift remains open at the base of Mt. Fuji. These rooms are set up like traditional houses rather than a flashy base, with sliding doors and tatami mats. Floor futons will be used instead of Western style beds. There is one communal and traditional bath house for all sexes to use, a makeshift medical area, and an underground market that have several restaurants... but the food options and quality of amenities are questionable. They are mostly run by gritty characters or A.I robots.

As the portal between Kyoto and Neo Tokyo is still active, for those who are still able to, they will be advised to assist in retrieving any Imugi parts that remain from the scuffle. While its main body is being contained and promptly dealt with by LILITH, there are parts and scales scattered around Neo Tokyo and the old base. All parts are to be bagged, marked, and returned to LILITH. It's hard to say just how much of LILITH's base was destroyed and Eiji Shiro along with Captain Yamakawa are evaluating the state of the base before sharing a detailed report of the destruction. Stay tuned until February 25th for a follow up post.

β–Ά 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our sixth kaiju battle, and it's a double whammy!

There are two kaiju to attack this time. Please read the instructions at each header about how to play. Remember, you only have to fill out your attack information once and we will RNG a HIT or MISS result two times per character.

It is highly likely that if your character did not pack certain belongings with them that they could be amongst the rubble of the base. The state of the base will be explained in a follow up post on February 25th, but fret not, you may assume whatever items are still in tact and operational and can be retrieved shortly. If you'd like for items to be perished and destroyed, be our guest!

All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards February AC.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. SOMETHING IN THE SEA (KAGOSHIMA): Teams Redemption and Brimstone arrive at the Ohsumi to receive coordinates to Sakurajima, where they must wait until low tide to cross. The poison in the area is significantly concentrated; Outsiders are advised to wear their suits to avoid suffocating like the rest of the wildlife. Once they are able to cross, they discover that the land they are on is not an island, but a giant turtle kaiju responsible for the influx of rift energy on this side of Japan. Outsiders will be instructed to use water against the kaiju and try to separate the shell from the body.

2. KAGOSHIMA AFTERMATH: After defeating the Gigakame, Outsiders will be instructed to join their other teammates in Tokyo via emergency teleporters located at the Kagoshima research base. There is a limited amount of power to warp everyone safely, and Outsiders must decide who to send through the teleporter first. Eventually both teams will safely arrive in Neo Tokyo, but those who have gone through the teleporter later may suffer more side effects.

3. SOMETHING IN THE SKY (TOKYO): The Imugi has been spotted in Tokyo with a large influx of rift energy and has its sights set on destroying the LILITH base. Although the hatchlings were moved to different facilities, they are inevitably drawn to their mother and travel through rifts to the empty Tokyo base; however, instead of a reunion, the hatchlings sacrifice themselves and the ensuing explosion destroys parts of the base and the surrounding area.

4. TOKYO AFTERMATH: The rematch with the Imugi and the Outsiders begin, with LILITH working on stabilizing rifts to cut off the Imugi's escape and sending in supplies in the form of energy drinks and new medical equipment. The battle lasts for over half a day, with the Imugi attempting to escape to Mt. Fuji, weakened to the point where it can't reach the summit. Outsiders are advised to retreat as the Imugi self-destructs and creates a new rift, one that can't be closed.

5. RE-GROUP: With parts of the base destroyed, Outsiders will temporarily stay in the underground bunkers between Mt. Fuji and the city outskirts. While Outsiders are provided medical assistance and anything else required, LILITH staff that are on hand will remain devoted to getting things back on track. Outsiders are welcome to help themselves to the limited amenities and room with others; however, sharing is encouraged and the food options are questionable. As the portal between Kyoto and Neo Tokyo is still active, some Outsiders may be asked to assist in retrieving Imugi parts. At this time, Eiji Shiro and Captain Yamakawa will assess the damage on the base before sharing a detailed report at a later time.

[One step forward. Ten steps back. Those words ring in his ears despite his efforts to push them away. They won, they defeated the Imugi, they took revenge on that bitch for what she did in Seoul and Neo Tokyo! ... And yet, Seoul's still in ruins, and now Neo Tokyo's left burning and scarred. In Vegas, they killed the worm, but the city was ravaged. In Romania, they ran off the wolf, but so many of their comrades were ripped apart and the village was rendered a horror. Every fucking time they fight, people die. Cities are torn open. Lives and livelihoods are lost.

Why... Why the HELL CAN'T THEY TAKE THE FIGHT TO THE KAIJU!? How the fuck is LILITH so fucking incompetent they can't track A GIANT GODDAMN MONSTER AND SIC THEM ON IT FIRST?! Why does it always have to wait until the shitty thing shows up in whatever city they were sent to guard?! At this point, it feels like the Outsiders are omens! They're sent to a place to protect it and in their wake, every goddamn time, they leave nothing but destruction and death! It wouldn't surprise him if places start to reject the Outsiders and refuse to host them. Hell, he wouldn't put it past the next city to straight up begin an evacuation the second the Outsiders arrive, knowing their city, their dwelling, their goddamn HOME is all but doomed!

Weren't they supposed to be hope? Weren't they supposed to be the heroes?!

And yet he moves. He'll continue to move. No matter how broken, bloody, beaten, or battered he gets. He's a hero. And heroes win. Even if winning only means, at the moment, they refuse to give up. A grit of tire and gravel see a car pull through the smoke and gloom, headlights cutting past smog and plume. Bakugo puts it in park before opening the door and getting out, still clad in hishero costume. For someone who was in a war just now, he doesn't look it. Asides from sweat and a few smoke smears, he's... fine?

There's no recognition beyond knowing Noctis is another Outsiders. Hey, he's only talked to the guy over text one time. Bakugo quickly moves to the rubble burying the vehicle that the other man's trying to clear.]

Oy! Are they in the front of the backseat of the car?

[ The closer he gets to what remains of the base the trickier visibility becomes, with clouds of dust kicked up from displaced rubble and the smoke that indicates fire, expected after so much damage and electrical discharge. When light punctures through the haze he almost doesn't react, mistaking it for any number of other sources until the sound of the engine finally steals his attention.

Help. Finally.

He hoists a greataxe that he's wedged beneath a large piece of concrete after he clears the heavy piece from the car's roof, wiping hurriedly at a soot-covered face with his arm.
]

The back! I had them move back earlier when I started clearing it – you think you can help?

[Bakugo's been driving slower through the streets now that the danger's been slaughtered on the mountain base. But it doesn't change the threats still lingering in the damaged city. He's had to pull back and drive around smoke or too ruined areas at points, and can't go into the deeper parts of the city with his vehicle unless he switches to his motorcycle.

Right now, he's trying to find and evacuate the injured as quick as he can even if he can't do it his usual way.

WHERE THE FUCK DID NOCTIS GET THAT THING?! ... Deal with that later!

Bakugo snarls before gesturing for Noctis to get away from the car.]

Back off! [To the people inside the car.] Face the backseats and cover your damn ears unless you wanna go deaf!

[With that, he jumps onto the roof and crouches down, eyes narrowing as he move his left arm to face palm splayed at an angle down the front of the car's hood. A crackle of tiny sparks and- KA-BOOM!!

What looks like a grenade explosion erupts from his hand, blowing rubble, the windshield, the hood, and most of the front of the car clean off. Bakugo instantly recoils with a huffing breath, cussing between grit teeth. That hurt! But it was only one, and now the front of the car's cleared to escape from.]

Get them out!

Wait–

[ The realization of what's about to happen – or at least, a fair estimation – comes at about the same time that an itch in the back of his mind starts. A sense of familiarity. The feeling that he should know something.

Explosions. A natural ability. One focused in his hands.

There's only one person he's met that fits that description.
]

Bakugo? [ There's something almost like exasperation in that strained and rushed tone, frustration carried on its back. Talk about reckless–

But Noctis is rushing forward as soon as he's cleared to do so, more than willing to accept any cuts from the shattered glass of an already previously damaged windshield or the sharp, protruding metal of the car's dismantled body in order to reach out for the frightened mother and child huddled in the back.
]

It's okay, just take my hand, it's gonna' be okay... you think you could've given some warning first? [ His last words are directed at Bakugo, blue eyes lit from within with an uncharacteristic fire. ] Like they haven't had enough scares today.... Whatever, we need to use your car if we're gonna' get them out of here.

[ The older woman, with her child in hand, is eased out of the wreckage of her vehicle as they speak, tears visibly staining her dirtied cheeks. ]

[Too late. Bakugo backs off from the smoking wreckage, dropping from the car's roof and leaving Notcis to handle the extraction. He rubs at his shoulder and takes a quick inventory of his body. Heart rate a little elevated and breath short, but nothing standing down for a few seconds won't calm.

This guy recognizes him. He narrows his eyes as the man works on helping the family out of the car, trying to place him. He saw him during the preparation and initial separation into the vans, but didn't know a name. And yet, the way he says his name means they've communicated before. Or the other Outsider's heard of him... He's betting the first one. Meaning someone he talked to over the net but hasn't met. Narrowing that down leaves only Dante or Noctis... and this guy doesn't have a clock for a head.

Luckily there's very little glass left, most of it blasted away by the explosion. If he had more time and space, he would've punched through the side door window and blown it out from the inside. Damn rubble.]

Don't bitch at me! Focus on getting them out! [There's more important things right now than Noctis having a fit. Getting a look at his face and hairstyle... Bakugo clicks his tongue as he approaches from his momentary breather.] No wonder you picked that emo teen username.

[Oh yeah, Noctis totally looks like someone who'd go for an edgy handle. He triggers directions in his ocular and his car rumbles forward, pulling up to a stop beside their little quartet. He opens the back door and steps aside for the woman and her daughter to enter.] There's water and some first aid treatment inside. Stop the bleeding first.
fessus: (Metal Gear Solid: IV)

[personal profile] fessus 2025-02-22 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
[ There's something cathartic about engaging in an argument – stupid or warranted – with a comrade now that they have even a little bit of time to do so. He's able to easily multitask, shielding that woman and her now crying child during their transition to the car, while still entertaining comebacks and revelling in the hypocrisy of Bakugo's calling out of his "bitching" while simultaneously taking the time to put down his username.

It's petty, which feels strangely grounding and normal in spite of everything else.
]

I won't bitch at you if you don't nearly blow anyone else up! Here– [ She's helped inside before he's raising an empty palm, one that's suddenly filled with a wash of blue light that heralds the appearance of a glass bottle containing a faintly glowing liquid. First aid treatment? Sure, that'd be a decent option for someone even remotely trained in how to use it. Noctis, however, opts for what he does know – his own healing magic. ]

Stay still, alright? It's gonna' be okay. I'm gonna' break it, but it's not gonna' hurt you, okay? It'll help. [ The bottle is raised before suddenly being crushed in his palm, and even with the warning he sees mother and child briefly flinch as the healing essence of that potion hits the air and washes over them both. Almost immediately cuts start to close and lungs begin to clear, and only then does he step back to address the other Outsider. ]

Are you gonna' be able to get them out of here? I'm planning to stay and look for anyone else that needs a hand, and if you're sticking around I could use the help.
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (πŸ’₯ My own support department.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2025-02-22 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[He wouldn't be arguing with him if said comrade didn't tick him off enough to argue about something!! Yeah, completely on Noctis here. Absolutely nothing to do with Bakugo's attitude. At least the man's able enough to talk and work at the same time. He'd have called him out on it if he'd fucked up while mouthing off. And don't have a stupid username in the first place and he wouldn't be taunting it.

With the pain in his arm and tension in his chest subsiding, Bakugo climbs back onto the ruined hood and then slides himself inside the woman's now-empty car. Amid smoke and firelight, he quickly searches through the vehicle, wrenching open glove compartments, center consoles, seat-back pouches, and even yanking down the back seats to delve into the trunk.

It only take a minute and he's coming out the front once more. Noctis is saying something?]

HAa?! I didn't "almost" blow anyone up! [His shot was perfect! Right down the front! Bakugo approaches the trio, arching a brow when Noctis suddenly blinks in a bottle of liquid. For a moment, he thinks it's one of those hammer space gloves the Outsiders can get from LILITH, but quickly realizes this is Noctis' own ability. Aaaand now the nerdy part of him he tries so damn hard to keep stuffed in its closet kicks the door down. Red eyes linger in interest and curiosity, contrasting the scowl on his face.

A potion? A liquidated spell? Nope. A broken bottle (no glass rain) and water-goes-misty transition before it floats along them. Hmph. That's a lot quicker than the first aid kits he has stockpiled in his car. Bakugo walks past Noctic when he turns to face him, and drops the mother's purse, keys, documents, and whatever other important things in her car she left behind onto the seat beside her. She doesn't need to lose anything else.]

Tch. [He could drive them out, but if Noctis needs his help.] I can remote pilot it out, but I'll need to focus on driving it while we work. [He can do it without a problem, but Noctis should be aware he'll be dividing his attention for a bit.]

[personal profile] fessus 2025-02-27 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He's ready to continue their bickering but two things stop him. One is the awareness that fighting in front of a no-doubt scared and traumatized woman – alongside her child – doesn't present a comforting or united front. The other, and arguably more important reason, is that Bakugo appears after thoughtfully sourcing her needed items. It's something that hadn't even occurred to Noctis, but which will no doubt make a huge difference for her.

Lips purse momentarily before he offers the other Outsider a quick nod, acknowledgement of his approval.
]

Okay.

... don't get pissed off at me for asking, but can you handle that? Because if you need to just focus on them, now's the time to say so.

[personal profile] blastedass 2025-02-28 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Unfortunately, Bakugo is not that like minded, and has behaved just as rudely on televised interviews. Screw the censors! And he's yelled at victims in a disaster scene (albeit actors) because they wanted help being rescued when they were clearly able to walk themselves! So yelling at Noctis in front of a woman and her child is nothing. Even as he takes the time to snatch her belonging from the car and dump them into the seat with her. No fanfare or anything.]

Don't second guess me! I said I can handle it! Now find out where were going as I get these to extras settled.

[So much for not getting pissed off. Bakugo heads for the car and pulls up a map of the area on his ocular.]

When you're done patching up, get your seat belts on or lie down and bundle up!

[That's to the woman and her child. Rude.]

[ ... this son of a bitch-- ]

They're not extras, asshole. [ He clicks his tongue as Bakugo roundly ignores his prompt to ease up and adopt even a semblance of a bedside manner, aware that his own anger in response will do little to calm a scared family. So instead he forces his expression into something mildly closer to neutrality, long-suffering as he instead looks over at them with a shake of his head.]

Sorry, ignore him. He hit his head in the fight. [ JUST FUCKING LIES ]

And where we're going is up the street, the sooner the better. It looks like there was a collapsed bridge and it might be harder for rescue to access.

They're gonna be dead if they don't move it!

[Whether he calls them "extras" or "dear sweetums" barf it doesn't matter; what counts is they're getting in the car and the mother is treating her daughter and herself safely while the car secures itself for the drive. Bakugo ducks back into the driver's seat and checks a few more items on the dashboard, then locks the glove compartment. He doesn't trust a panicked woman not to try and take matters into her own hands and think she knows better than a vehicle on autopilot.]

HAA?! I haven't gotten hit this entire fucking time! [Said with less pride than he would've if he'd been out there fighting and dodging like the rest of the front-line Outsiders.

Once the two are settled, he gives the woman explicit instruction to "Stay in the fucking back" and trust the car. He'll be driving it, even showing her a projection of the screen via his ocular, as well as the way his thoughts control the car, from steering wheel turning to gear shift moving. This is fine, what's supposed to happen, and all she needs to do is trust him.

And stay down. With that, he shuts the door, locks the car, and the vehicle pulls away, aiming for the nearest open road. Bakugo puts the screen up in front of him via a projection from the ocular. It's gonna be a weird ten minutes.]

Move. The car won't be back for twenty minutes starting now, so we're on our own if we find anyone.
fessus: (Okami)

[personal profile] fessus 2025-03-15 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's petty revenge... but it's satisfying, and he really couldn't ask for more. It also serves to make their arguing look a little more slapstick and a little less toothless in front of mother and child, one of his goals, as they settle in and Bakugo handles their departure.

Sure, he's a pain in the ass, but Noctis wouldn't begrudge him or deny him his usefulness. Especially now.
]

Fine by me. I've been on my own this whole time.

[ Once the sound of tires crunching gravel fades into the distance Noctis is suddenly on the move, and this time that blue crystalline light is a signal of something far less innocuous than a potion being summoned. An ornate silver sword fills his hand a second before it's suddenly flung with pinpoint accuracy at the nearby third floor balcony of a damaged and smoldering building.

In an instant Noctis has vanished, teleporting right after that weapon that he catches by the hilt before it can even impact concrete. The new vantage point helps, blue eyes squinting against smoke as he sights that bridge.
]

This way! There's a path ahead up to your left, an alleyway. We cut through there and we just need to head north to the bridge.

You shouldn't be on your own during a kaiju fight. We've had enough bullshit happen where Outsiders suddenly vanish or get caught off guard by the kaiju.

[From sudden brainwashing to paralyzing ambushes to teleporting away to even shutting off the Outsiders' abilities down to nothing more than the strength of their base muscles. A lone Outsider, at least one outside any close-ranged ally's sight, is a vulnerability at this stage in the game. Noctis is strong, but the kaiju have abilities they can't always predict.

Bakugo arches a brow when the man pulls his sword. Not the sudden appearance from his invisible arsenal, but the way he abruptly throws the fucking thing away. Is it some kind of ornate marker to show the way to their next-

...sure. A goddamn tether. Bastard could've warned him first! Snarling under his breath, the blonde heads forward, trading his attention between driving the car remotely and following Noctis' general path. If he were using his Quirk, he'd be able to catch up to him easily, but as he is now, he'll reserve his Quirk for a defined path.]

Can we get there faster by rooftop?

[ No correction comes to specify that where he's been alone is in the rescue efforts specifically, but... that's because he finds himself curious as to what Bakugo means. He's heard bits and pieces now from other Outsiders who experienced the battles in previous months, and they all speak like what they'd seen before was worse. Worse than the destruction on display in this city, and worse than how disjointedly some had attempted and failed to work together to combat it.

It'd be worth talking to him more about, later.
]

Hah? Sure, faster, but not by much! Why, are you going to blow yourself up here?

[ Jab for well-meaning jab. ]

[Doesn't matter what he's been alone in. The kaiju battle's still active until the fucking thing's dead. And even that's not assured anymore, considering twice now they've killed one and another one came in soon after. Bakugo's gone through plenty with the kaiju surprising them in number, ability, and resilience. What counts as "worse" is a personal opinion, though he wouldn't be surprised if their failure at Seoul wasn't the heaviest burden on all of them.

Maybe later, he'll talk to Noctis about the past battles and explain what happened with each one. Perhaps in the car on the way back once they finish the rescue mission.

In answer to that jab, Bakugo's running form from far off suddenly detonates. As if a swollen flare of flames blooms and bursts into smoke with a loud "BOOM!" cutting through crackling fire and sirens. Yeah, he's fast. Even with one arm down and his organs healing, a few explosions aren't going to destroy him.

Damn right he makes it to the rooftop before Noctis doe. Just to spite him. Well meaning, of course.]

Hurry up, Emo Hair.
