WHAT: A Late Valentine’s Party mingle, since Valentines’ Day was over Kaiju month…
WHERE: “MANTRA”, an underground, alternative club in Neo Toyko
WHEN: March 10th

Around the 10th of March, Outsiders will receive a message in their ocular inbox from Kabru, the Outsider also known as @ rasgulla. The message reads:

“To my dearest friends and teammates,

If we haven’t met before, call me Kabru. When not on missions as an Outsider, I work as a freelance event planner for various businesses and private organizations within Neo Tokyo.

Valentines’ Day is a popular holiday in Japan that was sadly interrupted last month by the kaiju. My current client is holding a belated Valentines’ Day event and they would really like the Outsiders to come. There will be plenty of food and things to do. Even if you're not looking for a romantic time, I'd encourage you to come!

Please wear something comfortable. Looking forward to seeing you there!

A location pin comes attached with the invitation. It looks like Kabru’s become more adept at technology over the months.

Follow the location pin and you’ll find yourself in front of ‘Mantra’ in metro Tokyo, an underground, alternative club making waves for its uniqueness in the club scene. Outsiders will all be allowed in without much fuss. The owner of the club is a gentle woman who kindly requests that all guests take their shoes off and leave them at the side. There is a lingering scent of incense and the people hanging out in the club look remarkably calm as they relax; cuddling and enjoying each other’s company. What kind of Valentine’s day party is this? A New Age, alternative kind, apparently. The owner of the club wants to be promoting togetherness in a completely different way.

Thankfully, finger foods and alcohol appear to be abundant, even if Kabru would really like you to be mingling with the people! There is a bar with free flowing wines and spirits, and a table with hors d'oeuvres and small desserts as accompaniment. These can include sushi rolls, small sandwiches, crab cake bites, small skewers, chocolates, little cakes and tarts. Food aside, there is live music playing and guests are highly encouraged to dance.

Naturally, couples are also coupling up, but anything too raunchy is of course cordoned off to a private room. Also, ignore the people smoking electronic hookah at the side…

What can you do besides eat and drink?

1. DANCING 💗

The DJ mostly plays trance and synth pop music in the background but he’s happy to take requests. On the dancefloor,there’s always a group of tipsy guests dancing their hearts out, some dancing alone and others dancing as a couple. There’s no right or wrong way to dance and most people will not cast judgement. Give it a try? Better hurry, before some of the overeager guests try to drag you in.

2. CUDDLE PILE 💗
Numerous cushions are set out around the venue for guests to lounge in and cuddle. It’s highly encouraged, in fact! Especially after a vigorous dance session. There are people lying together in larger groups, and couples choosing to spend their time lounging and enjoying each other’s company. Finding it difficult to relax? The owner might give you a whiff of her special perfume that’s guaranteed to put you in a state of complete calm. It might even make you more open about lying together with someone else.

3. SPEED DATING 💗

There’s a speed dating round going on in one side of the club. Guests are numbered and paired up randomly, then given a short amount of time to get to know each other on a speedy little date. Don’t know what to say? A list of questions will flow in through the oculars to give you a prompt. (Please refer to here and here for some examples or make up your own!)

4. MAKE SWEET TREATS 💗

In the spirit of Valentines’ Day, the owner of the club is hosting a quick desserts-making workshop at the event. Guests will be provided with ingredients and taught to make chocolate or cupcakes, and they will get the chance to decorate it however they like. It’s highly encouraged to make something to give to your sweetheart or the person you admire. Do you really want to be the person eating their own chocolate on Valentines’ Day?

5. PARTY GAMES 💗

What’s a party without party games? Throughout the night, people will be getting drunk and playing local drinking games such as the King’s Game. Eventually, other games from the West get introduced by other people. These games include Truth or Dare, Spin the Bottle and 7 Minutes in Heaven.

6. TAKE SOMEONE HOME 💗

If it looks like you're having a pretty good time with someone else, a helpful robot will approach you and provide you both with a key to a private room. Some of these private rooms are normal and some are themed, similar to a love hotel. There's no need to actually do anything raunchy of course. You could just cuddle up and enjoy the warmth of the digital fireplace! Everything one might need for a nice time together (condoms, lubricant etc) will be readily available.

As the event planner, Kabru will be buzzing around and making sure everything runs smoothly, but he can be stopped for questions or concerns (pls be nice to him he has anxiety). Characters can sit out of anything they want, but drunk and overeager guests might decide to drag them in.

( By the buffet table is the world's nicest outlaw, a plate piled high with food held in between sea-green metal fingers. He's currently trying to construct what looks to be a sushi sandwich ( and by that he's putting a thin piece of dark chocolate between two rolls and trying to fit it in his mouth, go figure ). Either way Vash is clearly having a whale of a time, there's a whole bunch of snacks he hasn't yet managed to get to here -even with his bottomless stomach -, but perhaps the combinations themselves are a little out there.

He wrinkles his nose, catching the eye of anyone glancing over. With his mouth full it's very hard to smile, but Vash tries to either way. )

( He's fidgeting in the chair, truthfully a little unsure as to how he's gotten himself there. But maybe he can use speed dating as a way to make new friends! That's definitely allowed. Vash fiddles with the little cards before him, plucking up the topmost one and clearing his throat dramatically. )

'If you were an alien observing human behaviour, what would be the most confusing thing to you?' Oh, I know that one. But I don't know if it's a bar conversation. ( He laughs, bright. ) Also, what constitutes an alien, do you know? Humans are technically aliens where I'm from, because they came from space!

( Okay, he might be a little buzzed now. The nervousness he was feeling earlier soothed over by a number of cheerful cocktails. There's an umbrella from one in his hair as he sidles up to the nearest wallflower, smile bright. )

Okay, so I thought I was doing better at understanding the whole concept of games. I've played connect four. But what's 'seven minutes in heaven'? Doesn't that imply you're like, dead, for seven whole minutes? I think that's brain damage territory, actually.

[Quite a question to ask an actual alien who's done a lot of observing of human behavior recently! This is already a lot more fun than Gigan expected, and he wasn't nearly as reluctant going into this, either. Nothing about this setup seems like a real date, but that's something he's used to at this point. A real date would just be confusing and awkward.

But when faced with a new environment and new challenges like this, he is absolutely going to be a nosey sort of individual, and getting more intel on the goings-on and also the business establishments and careers of the Outsiders would probably be good. There's something to be said for getting Connected when under such a crisis.

This one, though... well, that is quite the stream-of-consciousness. ]

Some mongrels of the sort of Beasts and divinities, one supposes. [ "Aliens," that's a strange term. Kind of just like space gods to Gilgamesh, as far as he's concerned. At least this is kind of an interesting topic and not small talk or whatever like a bunch of the commoners here are probably on about. He can hang with aliens, gods, monsters, and all those sorts of things one probably needs to Oppose. ] What, did humanity ascend to the stars in your timeline? Ah, I saw something of the sort at the beginning of time through my clairvoyance, but my era was rather removed from that. On the matter of entities from space, there was of course that extinction event in 12,000 BC which brought down the gods... I suppose a Holy Sword or something of the sort would be necessary at such moments...

Hmm, but is that not perhaps what manner of creature these kaiju are, after all?

[ He is totally hip on sci-fi stuff of the modern era, and kaiju are most probably space beasties too, one assumes? That girl had said they come from Rifts. ]

[The wallflower he sidles up to is Astarion, and he looks relatively surprised by such a bubbly looking fellow with a tiny umbrella in his hair. He blinks at him with wide, red eyes, almost not understanding any of the words coming out of his booze-scented mouth.]

[Despite what the invitation said, Yato's gone to the trouble of dressing up in a snazzy suit, because he's naturally brought along his fiancée, Hiyori, and he's determined to treat her right after the fiasco with the doujinshi. So while he may be overdressed for the occasion, at least he's respectable looking?

Besides, who says you can't dance in formal wear?? ...although his way of dancing maybe be a bit... dated, as his routines hail from the eighties bubble era. Still, maybe you'd like to join him in bouncing around and waving your arms in time with the music?

If not, he might convince someone to join by dragging them in when it switches to a more familiar bunny hop or electric slide. There's no escaping his groovy godliness!]

🧁 2. Make Sweet Treats

[As someone with a creative streak and being a bit of a suck-up, Yato eagerly joins in the dessert-making workshop once he hears about it. Donning a frilly pink apron, he expertly cracks the eggs one-handed, goes nuts whisking the batter by hand, and really gets into the groove when it comes to decorating the cupcakes by going with a floral theme for his batch.

He's amiable to being interrupted at any point, or maybe he catches you once everything is finished, offering one of his handmade treats with a dorky (suave?) bow.]

Come one, come all! Step right up to my glorious shop of scents and try some of the finest smells you'll ever come across--!

[This month Yato's chosen profession is one that aligns fairly well with the party, so he brings along his wares to peddle: incense in various forms. Setting up shop at an empty table, he lays out the multitude of sticks, cones, powders, blocks, potpourri, coils, and balls. Numerous incense burners line the table for sampling, with scents ranging from cinnamon to sandalwood to lavender to frankincense.

Most of his goods are just pleasant smelling, having the usual calming or invigorating effects one would expect of incense. There's two, however, which might prove a bit more... stimulating: ylang-ylang and horny goat weed, so those who partake in either one may find themselves a touch more turned on. Sorry about that?]

[ W-What is she doing here? Why did she let herself get dragged in? Valentine's Day was the absolute day of the year for her, she doesn't want to relive that day a second time! Her precious little grape wasn't here and that jerk of Callisto made sure the day was even more terrible than expected.

She has to escape... B-But if she leaves already, she's going to get spotted and draw attention to herself! So instead she hugs the walls and attempts to blend in with her environment. A twin-tailed goddess dressed with a red dress doesn't exactly blend in with anything, especially when she looks that distressed and anxious. Sniff.

But she's doing her best, truly. ]

II/ Speed Dating

[ It keeps getting worse. S-She really needs to escape! But right now, she's stuck in that speed dating seat, one she appears to be sinking into more and more with every passing seconds.

And then someone sits on the other seat. It's happening all over again. It's a nightmare. She's red like a tomato and does her very best not to scream in despair. Alright Ereshkigal, just say "hello" and everything will go better! ]

III/ Escape

[ In a forgotten corner, there is... A cardboard box. One with two red ribbons on it. Unusual, but that's nothing really noteworthy, just an odd cardboard box.

And yet, every time you look away... The cardboard box changes position. It slowly yet steadily gets closer and closer to the exit! Why, it looks like the box is sparkling as it nears the exit door. And yet, it will never move as you look at it. What a strange and unexplained phenomenon this is. ]

[Ever one to notice suspicious stuff like sneaky boxes trying to scuttle off the premises, Yato lets the thing make it halfway to the exit before pointedly striding over and parking his ass on the sparkling package. Thankfully as a god he's light enough to perch on even tree branches without breaking them, so the cardboard doesn't squish, although now if it wants to make its getaway, it has to take a passenger with it.

Yeah, he could simply open it up, but this is more fun, and he's testing a theory.

The only thing that catches Gigan's attention about it is the ribbons. Why are there ribbons on the box? Someone must have taken them off their outfit and just left them behind . . . eventually, his curiosity gets the better of him, and he heads over to investigate. Are they attached to this box?? [Roland is a very outgoing guy, but even he seems unsure about a party this close after he arrives. He still has so much to learn about this place! What if he commits some sort of faux pas!? When he arrives, he sees this is a less formal affair than what he was expecting. He's also certainly never seen dancing anything like this. Coming here from the late 1800s, he expected waltzes or the like. This is... Is this allowed in public?

[Roland continues to be completely out of his depth here. First, should dating really be a priority for him when he just got here? Two, what is "speed" dating? What are any of these?

[Finally, something in Roland's wheelhouse! He might be the religious sort, but that doesn't mean Roland doesn't know how to have a good time. He's known among the Chasseurs for being able to drink every one of his comrades under the table. Will he meet his match among the Outsiders? It takes a couple of drinks to convince him to get started, but once he does, he's a force to be reckoned with. He knocks back his current mug and slams it down with a laugh, and to the applause of those watching.]

I wasn't sure how the beer here was going to be, but it's pretty good!

A. Food and Drink

[Despite the large area dedicated to dancing, Taryon is avoiding the wild movements and chaotic choreography in favor of sipping a deep red wine and snacking on a stack of tiny sandwiches.

And he's not come alone - unless you don't count a nine-foot-tall magic-powered automaton that followed Taryon into the club. The owner asked that any robotic assistants (thankfully, it was easy to pass Doty as just another AI-powered drone) to be kept away from the crowded areas of the room, leaving Taryon's constructed friend regaled to the edges of the room.

He settles onto a pile of pillows in the cuddle pile to enjoy this moment of luxurious living, observing how the others dance and trying to memorize the movements in case someone asks him to join. Hopefully they won't ask him to show off his moves. It might make everything worse.

The moment someone wanders by, he starts the conversation first:] Come join me! There's plenty of room here. Seriously, did you try these pillows yet? I wonder how much they cost.

B. Sweet Treats

You know, I co-owned a bakery with my friends before I arrived here. I was the best at selling what we had in stock, being so naturally charismatic myself- [He pours in the last spoon of cocoa powder into the cupcake batter, adding a little flourish of the spoon that knocks off perhaps an additional fraction of a gram.] but I was also an amazing baker. Did you know that my blondies were reknowned throughout the city that the bakery served?

I know what I'm doing. [Taryon says, taking hold of the whisk and the bowl himself. If anything, the movement of his wrist shows that this isn't the first time he's been in a kitchen. Someone might have to tell him that he didn't properly measure all of the chocolate powder they need.]

C. Speed Dating (m/m)

[This looks fun! Not very romantic, but Taryon sees the potential in making new friends this way. Taryon slides onto his end of the table, smiling and eager to earn a perfect score on first date etiquette, his hands folded on the table.] Good evening! [No, no, that's coming on too strong. Quieter voice, Tary.] I'm Taryon, in case you haven't heard of me.

[A pause to let his partner appreciate his freshly combed hair and new neon blue vest.]

Alright, so let met go first. What is...[A list of prompts pop up, and Taryon reads the first.] Do you want any children one-- shit! No! Forget that! Hold on--

001. Awkward
[Astarion was no stranger to rowdy taverns late at night, seeing people drinking, groping, dancing to overly enthusiastic bards, and wandering off together in giggly fits to do gods knew what in dark corners. Astarion was often the one pulling someone into those corners, though their nights never ended happily. Being here without the goal of bringing a person to his master to feed on was quite new and he almost doesn't know what to do with himself.

His first stop is the dance floor, where he idles off to the side with a drink in hand, watching. The "dancing", if one was kind enough to call it that, was much different than what he knew so he observes. Observes and wonders if he would debase himself to these hops and gyrations.

003. Sweet Treats
[Astarion has absolutely no interest in learning how to make any sort of food, however he was convinced by the club matron with the lovely perfume to decorate some of the excess sweets others had made. If he did indeed manage to make something nice, he could think of someone to give it to.

However, he is not managing at all. The piping bag he was squeezing frosting out of suddenly makes a vile "pbbbt" sound, splattering the cupcake and the front of his nice, new white collared shirt with red.]

[Honestly Donatello would have ignored the invite, he's not one for parties. But one of his roommates (they know who they are) kind of dragged him to this. That and the fact it's not on LILITH property? He's shown up in his cloaked form, which he has tweaked from previous times anyone may have seen him. Also he is dressed pretty sharply.

But once at the party he can be found most of the time hanging by the food and drink and just staying out of the way of any couples. Not like he has high hopes of "hooking up".]

2: Dancing
[Okay so the music isn't bad, in Donnie's opinion. He has a love for EDM and trance is basically a subgenre of EDM? He's in music heaven, so anytime the DJ is playing that?

What the hell is this...?

[Johnny lets out a sigh of despair as he gets a good look at the crowd. This is lame. Lame as hell. This is arguably the wackiest shit he's ever seen in his life, and he played at some of the roughest clubs in Night City; honorable mention to The Red Dirt for keeping it real for the past forty years.

Whatever excitement Johnny had at potentially crashing this little lovefest of a party vanishes once he realizes this is just a glorified shag shack with crappy lighting. He was just about to leave until the awful synthesized music reached his ears.

‘…They call this music?’

He stares at the DJ up on the stage with a look of sheer disgust. Of course, the disc jockey can’t hear his mental anguish but before Johnny knew it, he’s shoving folks out the way as he barrages towards the stage like a man on a mission.]

Out of the fuckin’ way!

[He throws the DJ out of his way and shuts down the turntables by slamming his guitar case down, probably wrecking at least 300,000¥ worth of equipment. Johnny hastily opens the case revealing his black guitar and jacks into the sound system with a few cords. It takes a moment but eventually Johnny gets everything set up, and grabs the mic.]

Good evening, Tokyo! [He calls out towards the confused masses.]

[When it comes down to songs he could play, SAMURAI has a fairly small catalogue of platinum hits. However, the song he picks starts off with a lyrical solo perfect for a one man performance such as this. It’s such a crying shame that the others aren’t here. Nancy used to sing backup on this part while Kerry handled the bass. While it will be nearly impossible to match the quality of the original song, Johnny plans on at least keeping it interesting.]

[Speed dating was never really Johnny’s thing. Then again, dating in general wasn’t really Johnny’s thing. As a former rockstar, Johnny often lives life on the fast lanes, meaning he doesn’t get caught up in long winded relationships. While he certainly dated Alt for a time, he and his on-and-off-again girlfriend were always taking breaks or cussing each other out. Then there was his whole bisexual exploration through Kerry that opened up a can of worms.

So yeah, Johnny doesn’t know the first fucking thing about dating. That’s why he’s just staring at his new date like they grown a second head.]

Sorry if my voice is a little hoarse. I’m still on the mend after that…well, hm. Performance.

001: Food & Drink

[ Godzilla doesn't really get Valentine's Day. If someone has a partner whom they love and wish to be with he's of the opinion every day should be spent cherishing and enjoying time with one another. Not that he has any experience with that, Mothra spending most of her time uh... in the middle of reincarnation cycles. Still if there's one thing the big guy does enjoy, it's watching humans and humanoids go about the various celebrations and rituals they hold as important. It's both an opportunity to study them and a chance to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere. So when Nyuu asked him to be her escort he wasn't going to say no.

Granted Goji being Goji he still has no interest in most of the goings on. He's content to stick by the refreshments and just quietly vibe whilst everyone else enjoys themselves. That's right, Godzilla King of the Titans is spending this party as a wallflower. At any moment in the night he can be found with a drink in one hand and a skewer or plate of sushi in the other, lazily munching away as he observes the party and fights the urge to go up to the DJ and strangle them. This is very, very much not his idea of music...

He is, in fact, staring at the DJ like he usually stares at a kaiju he's about to crush. Somebody might want to watch that... ]

[ As the night goes on Godzilla becomes more attentive than ever to the state of intoxication the various guests are under. The Civil Denizens in attendance are hardly his concern, but any Outsiders he recognizes? Those explicitly are.

If someone has been enjoying the drink or... other things too much without break they'll find all 7ft of the big guy tapping on their shoulder, liberating the drink from their hand if applicable, and forcing a glass of water into their grasp. ]
