WHO: Ratchet and you!
WHAT: First shift in the medibay
WHERE: The medibay
WHEN: early in March
WARNINGS: Medical stuff? None otherwise

If you have a reason to come into the medical bay, there's a new face around. Ratchet is acquainting himself with the place, learning where things are, triage protocols, and building a workspace for his ten-foot self over in the corner so he doesn't have to hunch over the tables they already have.

He will also be in his human form, with his ambulance body tucked into a corner, helping to tidy the smaller, regular-sized instruments and supplies that are used regularly.

If he isn't doing that, he'll be sitting and reading up on organic medicine, just in case anybody squishy comes in with an injury of some sort. He knows the real test will be the next kaiju fight, but for now he's just making himself comfortable. Please feel free to disturb him.

Ratio isn't anywhere close to an expert on practicing medicine, and he certainly doesn't lead the medibay, so when Ratchet arrives earlier in the day, he lets LILITH's staff handle the Autobot's orientation while he sticks to his assigned tasks. It's only later, once Ratchet's gotten familiar with the space and has settled down, that Ratio approaches to check in on him.

"Any questions or concerns so far?" he asks, getting straight to the point.

Ratio nods, and then scans Ratchet from top to bottom. He doesn't look like any inorganic being from his world, but most inorganics were built with intention, even if they were given sapience. What he read on the network implied differently for Ratchet though.

"Then my next question is this: would a human be capable of treating you? If so, I'd like to obtain information regarding your species' biology and medicine, so that it will be possible for me to treat you should you sustain injuries."

"I should be capable of treating you. I am not a mechanic, but I have tinkered with machines in my spare time, and am fairly knowledgeable in engineering. Though I do not yet have knowledge of the inner workings of those mobile suits, they look far less complicated than some of my engineering projects," he replies calmly. It could be a boast, but it doesn't look like Ratio's playing up his own skills, at least. Maybe he's just a good actor?

"If you do not trust my abilities, I'd like a chance to prove myself," he continues. "Though LILITH likely has some capability in healing you themselves, the more options you have, the better, yes?"

Ratchet's reaction is fair and justified. Most people would be uncomfortable with the idea of someone else rooting around in their body—especially one that is unqualified or untrustworthy. Hence why he suggested he prove himself.

"After a period of study, I would take the same examinations you took to certify yourself. Obviously, we lack the documents detailing typical exam contents, so you would have to devise the test yourself, nor do we have the resources for hands-on training, so I would suggest replacing that with simple observation of my performance in the medbay. Even though most of my work will be with organics, it should give you an indication as to how I would treat you in a similar situation," Ratio says in a long-winded explanation. Essentially, by working with Ratchet for a prolonged period of time, he hopes it will instill the autobot with confidence.

"Would that suffice?"

A million years?? He can't even fathom what about another organism's body would need that length of time in study to be capable of treating said body. Perhaps he's a bit in over his head with this. But he's not going to back down. If it requires that much study, it's worth studying, if only for potential benefits that he might be able to bring home.

Ratio opens the files as soon as he receives them. There's.... a lot. But it's also fascinating, the mix of mechanical terms that he's more used to seeing in engineering projects and unfamiliar anatomical words.

"If you could provide information on basic wound treatment as well, that would be appreciated. Even if I fail to grasp the anatomy of your species, I should be capable of that much," he says, eyes still on the files he was given.

Well, that certainly makes more sense. If Cybertronian biology varied that greatly, standardizing medicine would be a nightmare.

"In that case, what length of time is required become familiar with one Cybertronian's anatomy and medical needs?" he asks. He wouldn't be surprised if the answer was still in the thousands, or maybe even tens of thousands, but if that's the case, he has an actual chance of learning it all.

He looks up at Ratchet, both determined, and even excited, though he does his best to appear unaffected. "Best that you have a contingency. I will do what I can."

"Check on my progress in a few months. Perhaps I may surprise you," he says lightly, already aware how long this will take.

"Of course. And the same goes for you. Should you have any questions about this planet, its current circumstances, or any other technical problem, I shall endeavour to answer you to the best of my ability."
