WHO: Ratchet and you!
WHAT: First shift in the medibay
WHERE: The medibay
WHEN: early in March
WARNINGS: Medical stuff? None otherwise
If you have a reason to come into the medical bay, there's a new face around. Ratchet is acquainting himself with the place, learning where things are, triage protocols, and building a workspace for his ten-foot self over in the corner so he doesn't have to hunch over the tables they already have.
He will also be in his human form, with his ambulance body tucked into a corner, helping to tidy the smaller, regular-sized instruments and supplies that are used regularly.
If he isn't doing that, he'll be sitting and reading up on organic medicine, just in case anybody squishy comes in with an injury of some sort. He knows the real test will be the next kaiju fight, but for now he's just making himself comfortable. Please feel free to disturb him.

The First Patient
It's a damn shame Milt isn't around. His old ripperdoc was more like a doctor than just a second-rate cyberware technician. The guy used to nag Johnny halfway to death about his drinking and shit, enough to make Johnny want to give him the finger sometimes. However, Milt always knew how to take care of him. It's also a shame that Milt passed long before they could meet again, but maybe that was for the best. After all, he's the reason why Milt's son died during the war.
"Yo, doc?" Johnny gives a half-assed knock on the door before waltzing in. He doesn't even wait for a response. Johnny is dressed like a wannabe frat boy with a plain black hoodie, sweatpants, a red tank top, and his signature black heeled boots. However, he covers the majority of it beneath his dark black shades. His hair is a bit messy-looking, especially since he just came here after training. Thankfully, it's not greasy. As for that messy patchwork of a beard, that's a whole other story.
"Got a minute? I'm having one hell of a day."

"How can I help you?"
no subject
"What the hell are you supposed to be?!" That’s the first question Johnny asks when he sees this enormous robot. Now, he has seen his fair share of bullshit throughout the years but this takes the cake.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” He’s already halfway out the door. “Who the fuck are you and where’s the real doc?”
no subject
"I am a doctor," he says, trying not to sound annoyed. "Been one for five million years. My name is Ratchet, I'm new, and I'm settling in here. I can probably help you, if you actually need help, but if you want to wait for an organic doctor there'll be one around eventually. Until then, you're stuck with me."
no subject
"Fuck, and I thought the kaijus were weird enough." He mutters under his breath before letting out a distressed sigh. "Alright, alright! If you're the only doctor around, then fine–" Before he could utter another word, Johnny gets hit with another wave of nausea.
He falls silent for a while, his face scrunched up in misery. Everything is fuzzy and wobbly now, as if he is glitching out. Faint green lines of code emerge everywhere, with streams of numbers and error messages flashing before his eyes. This has happened before, when the Relic began to malfunction in V's body, but he now has no idea what is causing it.
"S-Shit." He clutches his head between his hands.

WELCOME!!!
Almost mistook the ten-foot-tall something-or-other for a comrade's Gundam, but Destiny is more about laser beams than medical texts. Kaladin doesn't recognize the cover of the one Ratchet's been reading, which piques his interest. This manifests in a craning of his neck as he sets the box down anywhere there's a free section of counter space.
The low-grade scowl, however, remains.
"I'm Kaladin. I heard our stores were running low on a few things, so I brought some from the hospital."
THANK YOU!
"I'm Ratchet," he says, nodding. "I'm new, and I'm getting myself familiar with the place at the moment, since I'll be spending more time here. I've been a doctor for a few million years, mechanical or not, there has to be something useful I can do around here even if I'm not an expert on organic medicine yet." He comes over, looking down into the box and nodding.
"More supplies are always appreciated, thank you."
no subject
"You're very welcome. We're lucky to—"
Hands in the box halt in their withdrawing rolls of sealed and sterilized bandages. Their neat organization on the counter is offset by the roll he drops onto the grouping in his surprise.
"Storms, a few million? That's... incredible. You studied for all that time?"
no subject
"Are you a doctor also, or are you just dropping some things off?" he asks.
no subject
Knowledge applicable to their unique situation with the kaiju. Resources are woefully low in the city, and Kaladin hopes adding another doctor will ease some strain.
"I'm a surgeon back in my homeworld, but I'm currently working as a paramedic at Neo Tokyo Central Hospital."

Once she reaches the door, this meek little girl raises her free hand to softly knock on it.
"Um, pardon me, but is anyone in here...?"
no subject
"Hello, I'm here. Can I help you?"
no subject
"Sorry for disturbing you but- if it's alright, may I ask for a check-up? Or if this isn't the right time, then can I re-schedule for later?"
no subject
"Not at all. You're by far the politest person who's come in here today, so you certainly can," he says, smiling a little and patting one of the exam tables. "Come sit here, I'll take a look. Do you have any specific complaints?"
no subject
With a nod, she hoists herself up onto the table- her hand still clutched at her side.
"And yes, there's a couple. A day ago, I went on patrol duties for The Rift, but I was not able to finish it as I had gotten a headache just from being near it. It seems to be gone now, but I was wondering if there's any residual effects left that I should be concerned about? As for the other complaint..." Fujino takes a pause for a moment, her eyes drifting down slightly. It...should be fine, right? Even if whatever had stopped her sense of pain back home isn't here anymore, everything else seems to be alright!
Still, though--
"...I'm not sure, but I think something might have happened with my body after arriving here? It's probably just a bit of paranoia, but I'd like to also have a general check of my vitals, if that's fine?"

"You are in here," he says incredulously, glancing back toward the hangar like, even after their initial discussion, he'd still expected to find Ratchet hanging out with the mobile suits instead of around organic medical equipment. "Are you busy?"
no subject
"I'm not busy. What do you need?"
no subject
This is a totally fair inquiry in Shinn's mind, especially because there aren't any dedicated mechanics.
no subject
"I can't promise anything until I look at what I'm working with, but I'll try to help out. What's broken?"
no subject
This can be LILITH's fault somehow, right? Who brings robot pilots without their mechanics?

"Any questions or concerns so far?" he asks, getting straight to the point.

"Then my next question is this: would a human be capable of treating you? If so, I'd like to obtain information regarding your species' biology and medicine, so that it will be possible for me to treat you should you sustain injuries."
no subject
"Fortunately, short of me being knocked out or otherwise unable to work, I should be able to maintain myself just fine. But thanks for asking."
no subject
"If you do not trust my abilities, I'd like a chance to prove myself," he continues. "Though LILITH likely has some capability in healing you themselves, the more options you have, the better, yes?"
