DOWNTIME MINGLE #10
▶ 001. WINNER'S CIRCLE.
The return to Neo Tokyo is a quieter affair than usual, but that doesn’t mean that LILITH isn’t proud of her angels. After dispatching them to deal with smuggling rings and bringing in their latest set of Outsiders, there’s a little celebration in the cafeteria; sushi, yakiniku, tempura and other various seasonal foods are on offer, just… Don’t ask where the meat comes from.
The celebrations of the victories in Mexico are not to be ignored, however, and the traditional celebrations of the winning outsiders is business as usual:
GOOD JOB:
SOBA & R.A.P.H (K.O.)
JUSTISH (600) & GODDESS OF DEATH (600)
And, as might be becoming familiar to the Outsiders, the celebration of the victors comes with its own impact on the cityscape of Neo Tokyo.
The more fashionable of folk might notice a new trend flooding the market, especially popular with teenage girls who lean towards the more lolita fashion. The trend is a simple gothic one, nicknamed zen lolita, with black on black, thick earrings and zori shoes with sharp designs that all seem to call back to traditional Buddhist monk style. The sparks of colour in this style come from white and silver accessories - finger and nose rings, dangling chains with small, animal charms. While much of the style can be found in thrift stores and downloaded through the style chips, a significant amount of it can only be bought in high end, expensive boutiques.
Meanwhile, in the arcades of Neo Tokyo, a new game has become popular. Players enter a virtual simulation room and can use dual virtual swords to slash at incoming targets while listening to music. Targets can take on the shape of alien spaceships, asteroids, and even space robots. To win, you have to fight to the beat with certain songs having greater difficulty. Hardcore players can also purchase upgrades for their virtual swords to trigger special effects. The upgrades are all named after famous swords with some of the most impressive ones being Excalibur and Arondite.
Another emerging hit teen trend is a brand-new pizza from one of the bigger chains in Neo Tokyo. Painting their windows with reds and greens, little cartoon turtles and party balloons and celebrations, with mascots that are being sold as keyrings and plushies alongside the food. The main attraction is the new dish on offer: a Mutant Turtle Pizza! It’s a fairly simple dish, designed as a calzone (you can customise some of your fillings!) with a turtle shell crust, wrapped in paper matching their cute mascot design. If you come in cosplay, you get 10% off!
Those in Redemption might notice something… Odd going on outside room 006. In the weeks after the return from Mexico, deliveries have been made almost around the clock, the weary drivers dropping off box after box and bouquet after bouquet. It seems as if word of a certain someone’s hard work in fighting the kaiju has been heard, and they want to show their affection. Various bouquets of sunflowers, roses, tulips, daises and orchids can be found littering the floor, in various shades of blues, purples, yellows and white. At least it smells wonderful.

▶ 002. LOST IN TRANSLATION (TEXT MINGLE.)
Auto-translation software allows everyone in the world to communicate with each other, regardless of where they are from or what language they might speak. Everyone has it automatically installed and for the most part, this allows for seamless and instant translation no matter who they are talking to.
One day, everyone will receive a system message that consists of broken characters, code, and gibberish. After that, they will find that they have some trouble communicating with others. For some people, it might just be a few words not translating correctly, but for others, the miscommunication is more extreme.
The translation software might completely fail, resulting in Outsiders not being able to understand each other at all. They will have to rely on vintage translation services or body language Synthia will issue an explanation:

For the next few days, everyone will have to make do with broken or incorrect translations when speaking to each other. Even characters from the same world and country might find themselves suddenly speaking a completely different language. This might result in people saying the opposite of what they mean or the things they say might end up translated through multiple languages before the final result. They might even accidentally confess a secret that they did not mean to say. Eventually, a patch will be issued and things will resume as usual. This effects both text messaging and normal speaking.

"It seems instead of translating to multiple languages, she translated through multiple languages. Sorry. There is currently a problem with the translation software. We contacted support and they're working on it."

▶ 003. CAULDRONS & KAIJU.
It seems as though September is for fun, and with it comes a rush of people in Neo Tokyo taking part in an exciting craze that seems to ebb and flow in popularity throughout the year: a class-based, live action role-playing game that is all the more exciting thanks to technology permitting light shows, downloadable costumes and guild systems. LILITH is quick to encourage the Outsiders to take part, in the interest of team-building and developing connections across the four groups on base.
The game itself is simple: organise yourself into a ‘party’, download your costumes and class features (such as light shows for magic users, custom weapons for your melee and ranged) and various upgrades to transform your features into different ‘races’ - your bunny and cat people, lizardfolk, and so forth. Once your party is together, you travel through a scavenger-hunt style series of games, puzzles, PvP and PvE fights to get to the final ‘dungeon’ - raid a dragon lair and get some gold and various other prizes. Try to create a balanced team of tank, magic user, support and damage dealer!
LILITH is more than happy to help set up the Outsiders with what gear they need, and makes the following recommendations for the ‘style’ of play for each team - and they recommend a mixture of all four for the best “party-comp”:
At the end of the trail is the dragon’s lair, where they’ll face various lair-based obstacles: smoke and fog, 'toxic' fumes and clouds, dragon breath (of various elemental flavours), terrain difficult to walk through, etc. All of this is created via a holographic simulation, of course, but it feels very real! Winning parties will win a treasure chest of “gold”... It’s chocolate, and therefore fake, but you get a really cool certificate and a place on the leaderboard for how fast you beat the dragon!

LILITH is more than happy to help set up the Outsiders with what gear they need, and makes the following recommendations for the ‘style’ of play for each team - and they recommend a mixture of all four for the best “party-comp”:
BRIMSTONE are the tanks. Ranging from dedicated, focused Paladin-style warriors using various different weaponry to Barbarians who use their rage for offensive purposes, they’re encouraged to don armour, get their HP buffed and lead their party into their quest. They can take more damage than the rest of their party and have special abilities to get monsters to focus on them. The actual ‘roleplay’ part of the event takes place with a series of different ventures for Outsiders to get themselves busy with across Neo Tokyo:
EVERLIGHT find themselves as physical based damage dealers. This could be archery, swords, knives or their bare fists to hit for as much power as they can muster. They’re encouraged to do what they can to bash their enemies to pieces, and are more adept at 1:1 combat than groups. Their skills focus more on high damage ceilings for those who get to grips quickly and critical hits.
REDEMPTION are the support. This can range from straight-up HP healing skills or using buffs and debuffs to make it easier for the tanks (and those unruly DPS!) to survive whatever fight comes up ahead. Regen or shields, they could also be the Healer-DPS and heal by killing the enemy before it kills their party - with a little bit of poison and strength sapping magic, they’re nothing to scoff at.
REVELATION get to enjoy the fascinating and wonderful world of magic users. This could be using a wand, a book, or sheer natural talent to cast a variety of spells to get rid of the enemy as swiftly as possible. Elemental magic (your fire, ice, earth, lightning, etc) mixes with staggering areas of effect skills to try and make quick work of any threat that might lie ahead. Mages are far more useful for groups of enemies than single target, but are still devastating.
There are various fun elements uploaded onto their implants to make the game more engaging as well, as if they were playing in the simulation room: a HP tracker, item lists, spells and mana, party group chats and various other features. This will help when one of your party gets poisoned and loses -1HP per step they take… Uh oh! Feel free to have fun with whatever your imagination can come up with.Various puzzles and riddles to crack between different markers on their maps. Traps to trip players up and make them question everything. Mysteries that need to be solved before they can move on to the next location. Nature itself fighting back against the questing parties.
▶ 004. AFTERWORD.
This is Downtime Mingle / Team Building #10. All comments in this event count for 2 points towards September AC. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask them below.
EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. WINNER'S CIRCLE: The winners of the Mexico mission influence Neo Tokyo with lolita fashion, simulation videogames, flowers in the Redemption wing and a new pizza to try!
2. LOST IN TRANSLATION: LILITH's auto translation gets a bug and Outsiders must communicate by other means until it is fixed. Some effects will cause people to speak in a language they don't know or even confess a secret they did not mean to say.
3. CAULDRONS & KAIJU: A dungeon & dragons style simulation game! Outsiders must build a team and work together through various puzzles to reach the dragon's lair, slay it and steal the (chocolate) gold.

Bakugō Katsuki 💥 Boku no Hero Academia 💥 Everlight
▶ 001. WINNER'S CIRCLE.
💥 ➊ CIRCLE. - Therapy Food
[Even if Neo Tokyo is Tokyo from the future, with the kaiju and world so damn changed, ration bars and MRE so often showing up at the cafeteria on off months, it's rare to see some actual quality culture dishes laid out on the bar. Bakugo's swept through after a mission and took his perch at a chair towards the back of the Everlight common room. One ankle crossed over the other knee, a mixture of containers holding sushi, yakiniku, tempura and other various seasonal foods balanced on his legs, he sinks his chopsticks on either side of a sushi piece and brings it to his mouth.
Using his right arm still isn't the greatest result, his fingers far weaker than they used to be and his wrist + elbow lacking as smooth a motion thanks to his patched-together muscles and tendons inside. But simply working with a hang grip tool's not gonna get him 100% recovery. He needs the fine-tuned motor controls. The next piece slips from his grip, prompting a pair of red eyes into death glares as he repeats the motion and lifts the nori-wrapped disc. Small tremors shiver his hand just as he gets the piece to his lips and he shoves it in, then drops his arm back to his thigh. Tch... better than it was two weeks ago.]
💥 ➋ CIRCLE. - Arcade Slice
[Thanks to that shitty experience from the start of the month, Bakugo avoids the simulation training for the last half, but the arcade's not the same, is it. He's never been big on arcades after growing up. Used to spend a fair bit of time as a kid, always maining All Might as he solidly trounched other characters in fighters and beat-em-ups. While he can definitely hold his own even now, he's left those games behind and focused instead on this new craze. Might as well blow some steam off, right?
Bakugo lifts his arms in the virtual game, eyes narrowed as his fingers curl around sword handles. A mixture of kendo and music rhythm game, huh? Heh, he'll slaughter that high score and take home a win! One two three, hack slash shash! His body shifts in time to the beat, horizontal and vertical strikes carving through the swarm of asteroids and alien ships. If you're standing nearby to watch, enjoy the way he racks up skills. If you're his partner in this endeavor-]
To your left, dammit!
▶ 002. LOST IN TRANSLATION
💥 ➊ LOST TRANSLATE. - What is Seen.
I'm going away from my mind.
This month is best not to be screwed.
Who will fit all leaves? If you do that, their bags too!
You can't replace the Soy sauce's sauce!!
Subscribe and completely the room to flee. A new score!
Who doesn't know how wet wet?
[OOC: This is the messed-up versions of his texts. Feel free to get these and taunt him or try to figure out what he's saying. Other responses here will likewise be all translated garbage. And of course, wildcard to your heart's content.]
💥 ➋ LOST TRANSLATE. - What is Meant
I'm gonna rip this fucking thing out of my head!
This month better not screw up.
Oy, who the hell's piling all the leaves up? If you're gonna do that, bag them too!
You can't replace soy sauce with fucking oyster sauce!!
Undercut and I completely obliterated that shitty escape room. New high score!
He doesn't know how to wear a fucking scarf.
[OOC: This is the actual version of his texts. If you don't want to mess with the mess, feel free to get these instead and have normal text conversations with him. No weirdness here. And of course, wildcard to your heart's content.]
▶ 003. CAULDRONS & KAIJU.
💥 ➊ C&K. - Quest Folk
[While Bakugo's not been downloaded into some strange lizard beast, he certainly looks the part of a tribal warrior dead set on reaching the dragon's lair, slaughtering his foe, and marking his name (or his team's) at the top of the leader board! As one of the Everlight guys, anyone who's remotely aware of him knows Bakugo's a powerhouse and intellect together.
Of course he wants to be the leader of his team and damn well gets down to business when it comes to planning! They have to break past traps, rip open mysteries, kick nature in the face, and tear their way through the city to their ultimate prize: the dragon's lair and treasure which waits within! Follow him and success is assured! Whether everyone's bouncing across rooftops or tracking their way from one street to he next, Team Demonolition isn't stopping until they've won!
OOC: Feel free to pick a trap, puzzle, riddle, mystery, monster, battle, whatever you want, and we'll crack at it together!]
💥 ➋ C&K. - Dragon's Lair
Che! What the hell do you mean there's no dragon here?! [Exactly what was just said. There is no dragon in the lair, only more of these treacherous pitfalls and traps designed to keep intruders and would-be adventurers way from the loot inside. Bakugo crouches atop the starting banister of a winding craggy staircase, one hand fisted around the handle of a hulking greatsword.
With all this fog and mist around, seeing the ground's almost impossible. Hence his decision to take the no-doubt-trap-loaded staircase instead. At least from the top they can make their way across the lair without messing with all the shit in its corrosive miasma floor. He clicks his tongue in irritation before pushing himself to a full stand. Right. If there's no dragon, they'll just have to kick the crap out of all these traps and take home the gold.] I'll go first. The rest of you extras stay back.
[Wildcards on all prompts are welcome! If you'd like a personalized starter, send me a PM and I'll be happy to work out a scene with you, or leave a comment here or on Bakugo's plotting post and we'll hash it out!]
Therapy Food
Looks like you're doing pretty good there! With any luck you'll be picking up grains of rice in no time, heh.
[Either he didn't catch that little mishap or, more likely, he's choosing to politely ignore it in favor of focusing on the progress Katsuki's made.]

Shirou Emiya | Fate/ Stay Night | Everlight
[Shirou went to the arcade just to look at swords. In truth, he didn’t come there to have fun. Ever since Shirou was young, he took himself seriously and worked hard to become a responsible adult. Over the years, he developed a passion for cooking. One of his other passions is for swords. He was curious to see if the virtual reality swords were well made. They’re different from traditional swords, and that only makes him more interested in their craftsmanship. He can be found staring at some of the equipment in the arcade. Sometimes he’ll inspect it with great detail, failing to notice his surroundings. ]
The swords I’m most interested in are the dual swords. Do you want to give them a try?
[He’ll suggest entering the simulation with anyone that may take interest in it.]
2. Lost in Translation
Who tough comm be difficult? (Who would have thought that communicating would be so difficult? )
Eve wordings to understand (Even words are hard to understand)
3. Cauldrons and Kaiju
[Shirou’s outfit is a bit different than usual. Instead of wearing casual clothing, he’s outfitted in archery gear that fits perfectly. He’s hoping that he’ll get to show off some of his archery skills in this event. Striking targets from afar his his specialty. It may have been a while since he’s practiced archery regularly. However, the fundamentals still come naturally to him. During the game, he’ll offer support to the other teammates by firing off a few arrows. ]
I’ve created an opening! Go for it!
[He’ll signal for the battle to continue. This should be good training for him. ]

2. When will you discuss that? This is not something, it's impossible!
( Actually, what languages do you guys actually speak? You know, without the translation software and stuff!)
3. HMM ... I want to do time at work if I can do time at work. How long have you been thinking about this? Just ask!
( Hmm... I wonder if I can take time off from work until this gets fixed. Hey, how long do you guys think this will last? Just asking!)

Haven't we done enough puzzles already?
( And right now, they have 7 treasure chests in front of them. The puzzle seems simple enough!

And this one seems a little too easy if you ask me...
( Anyone else getting mimic vibes from this particular puzzle???? )

Cloud Strife ☁️ FFVII ☁️ Redemption
[ Since the advent of a new and exciting pizza variant, the volume of deliveries within the city has predictably gone up exponentially. Naturally, this meant actual delivery drivers were in need. While most such deliveries could be left to drones, an enterprising guy could cash in on the craze with some effort.
It’s why Cloud can be found out and about on the streets of Neo-Tokyo, puttering along on a motorbike that’s seen better days no less than five decades ago, running on fuel cells that went out of production four decades past. It makes a racket, sure, and it’s dinged up to hell and back, certainly, but it does the job, and the rack he’s affixed to the back holds a stack of pizza and calzone boxes well enough.
Maybe it’s you he stops in front of, dear stranger, pushing up his goggles to squint at you while plucking up a box to hold up, but not too close to grab just yet. Just… tantalizingly out of reach. ]
The Mutant Turtle Pizza for you?
2. Flowers. Not for you. Maybe.
[ With the sudden influx of flower deliveries comes more opportunity for side jobs. Whatever. It’s fine. It’s more Kryptos in the digital wallet. It also means making more deliveries to the actual base, which is convenient, if only because he knows he can access the building with more ease than everywhere else in the damn city with their high rises and security codes and front desks.
Either way, look out: here comes Cloud, clomping down the hall en route to Redemption with his arms laden with flower arrangements reaching high enough that he can’t quite see who or what might be in the way. ]
3. It’s A Paying Job; closed to Toji Fushiguro
[ A job was a job, but sometimes, Cloud can’t help but wonder what he was thinking when he accepted it. Like now.
The evening finds him meandering down some side street, one hand stuffed in the pocket of a beaten leather jacket, the other wrapped comfortably around a paper cup billowing steam into the chill air to disperse behind him (konbini coffee). The job of the night ought to be somewhere yonder, fresh out of the local pachinko parlour; previous recon gave him a good idea of the guy’s spending habits, which tended to be terrible, and his luck with the pachinko machines, which was just as bad. He was just some guy, another of the Outsiders, and user Kon’s father of dubious repute. As jobs went, this was like scraping the bottom of the barrel, but Kryptos were Kryptos and it didn’t require him to do anything more than follow.
Having really nothing better to do that evening, Cloud sighs aloud, sips his bitter coffee, and leans against a building across the way to watch for the moment The Guy finishes his losing streak of the night. ]

Ah.
[ Recognition by the tuft of blond fluffy hair poking out from behind the greenery, a bracelet matching his on the not-stranger's wrist. ]
I guess the message board was right, and I've been lied to by an online parakeet. Who's the lucky person. Are you taking them out to a bar and buying endless drinks for them?

Yugamu Omokage | The Hundred Line | Redemtion
[While maybe not exactly his look, being slightly too minimalist even for someone with his monochromatic tastes, Yugamu's fitting in rather nicely with the zen lolita girls, trading style tips and chatting about accessory options. Girls girl that he is, he's able to hit it off rather easily. He's giving easy compliments, reacting to gossip, and even offering dating advice. What a well adjusted young man he is!! You'd think they'd known him forever.
Unfortunately he's also a menace, so when he spots someone he recognizes from LILITH, he grins and says to the girls;]
I think my friend here could use a makeover, wouldn't you?
[It's up to you whether you succumb to the goth's whims or flee.]
02: Ma There's a Weird Cat (CW: Implied Surgery/Animal Testing)
[People might start spotting Yugamu around the base with a.... thing. It's definitely an animal, though likely not one anyone's ever seen before. It's mostly a opossum, but with feline ears and fluffy tail, and a spotted coat pattern, along with what are certainly eagle talons for back legs along with some impressive wings on its back. Though it has a collar, Yugamu never seems to be leading it around on a leash, and instead it simply trots along side him when it's not actively misbehaving, which is often. If you get a closer look, you might observe two other facts; the collar has a nametag that says "Silco Jr." and its underbelly is shaved with a visible sutured up incision.
You might encounter them in the following scenarios;
a) The Creature is going buckwild, tearing up the couches in a common area while Yugamu chases after it with a syringe
b) Yugamu is casually having a snack in the cafeteria while The Creature is viciously biting him.
c) The Creature has gotten up a tree and is seemingly stuck, with Yugamu on the ground trying to figure out an optimal solution.
d) A secret fourth thing.]
03: Wildcard
[Throw something at me or hit me up if you have another idea!!]
2c;
Easiest thing to do would be to move along.
However, the thing that always compels him to try and do something good overcomes any sort of discomfort he may have, and he's fully aware this guy might turn this into a fight right here. Bring it on. He sighs, then cautiously approaches. ]

Raphael Hamato | Rise of the TMNT | Everlight
Food was always the easiest way to a turtle's heart. Especially if it included pizza.
It took a lot of willpower not to freak out and point at all the little decorations of red and green turtles all over the shops. He's been taking it easy after Mexico, especially when the anger got too much, but now that the pollen effects are gone and he's had time to himself? It was awesome enough to get the little celebration at base - because who could say no to sushi? - so the recognition was nice! So much of his life was looking after others and barely getting thank yous - which he was used to - but now?
As soon as he found out that there was MUTANT TURTLE PIZZA at a shop he's already beelining for it. The cosplay around the place by others makes him wish that his cloaking didn't activate, leaving him in his human guise, but he's already enjoying watching the city folk celebrating in their own ways. It makes him wonder how much of LILITH's influence is in the city, since their work was semi-secretish, but he gets in line and tries not to bounce on his heels.
He gets the attention of someone else, pausing because he knows he's excitable right now, and just smiles bright and wide. "Whatcha going to get?" he asks, motioning to the menu up ahead, before chuckling. "I mean, it's a pretty neat event, right? Kinda like citywide party, huh?"

Leonardo has gotten used to wearing his cloaked disguise everywhere in public, so this is no different than any other outing he's had. Even if using the cloak is The Worst Ever (it isn't). It also means he can walk through the crowds after Raph very subtly. He just blends in with every other civilian. He's wearing casual Cool Boy Clothes, so he blends in seamlessly.
He has a pretty good idea of where his older brother is going, so he takes his time in following. Raph is big, hard to miss. Raph will always stand out in a crowd.
Walking into the pizza shop earns a smile from Leo. The humans cosplaying as turtles is a little weird, but cute in a way too. Leo can't fault it too hard. He sidles into line, initially further behind his brother, but the line breaks up as people go to meet friends or get distracted the two brothers are suddenly next to each other.
And of course Raph turns to be social. Woe to Leo. There is absolutely no way to skulk away or cover this up. Raph knows his voice.
"Still thinking about what I'm gonna get, T B H." He says easily, acting as if they haven't been ignoring each other. "Feels like a citywide party, pretty cool so far."
