TRAVEL LOG #7
TRAVEL LOG #7
▶ 001. IT’S (NOT) LONDON, BABY.
As the last dregs of summer fade into the beginning of true Fall in Neo Tokyo, Outsiders wake up to the sound of sirens blaring, the call coming through their implants - there's no time for relaxation, not when the world still needs to be saved. As soon as everyone has gathered for the debriefing, Yamakawa explains their next destination: a request for aid has been sent by a civilian militia group in Windsor, England, and it's a desperate plea for support for an ongoing kaiju crisis.
While LILITH doesn't have a branch in the area, they're able to work with their contact to ensure that a data portal is set up for the easy transportation of Outsiders from the main base. Travelling feels a little bit easier compared to before, but the common side effects still remain - a little nausea, some headaches, dizziness and some minor glitching. It seems as if caffeine is a solution, and upon arrival, Outsiders are offered a cup of tea to get them settled.
Weirdly, unlike previous teleportation, physical touch seems to make the symptoms worse, rather than better. Anyone attempting the usual form of intimacy will find that being close to people, especially those they’re most comfortable with, will feel strangely awkward, leaving them with an uneasy sensation and the urge to take a step back.
As this is another warp rather than air travel, Outsiders will be asked to bring only what they deem necessary on this journey. Yamakawa reminds the Outsiders that, once they arrive, further supplies will be sent; both those that the outsiders request, and additional medical supplies for the militia in England to support them in their ongoing quest.
Everyone will be given the standard 24 hours to pack and prepare for departure. Once the time is up, Outsiders are transported to the arrival point... In Windsor Castle.

▶ 002. AN OUTSIDER WALKS INTO A CASTLE.
Upon arriving in the bailey of the castle, a beautiful woman who introduces herself as Gwen approaches. She welcomes the Outsiders to her base of operations, promising to provide beds and food for everyone. She’s quick to give an overview of why they’ve been summoned to the castle and what the problem is: they’re a militia group who are fighting against a large kaiju that is threatening the remains of the civilian population of the United Kingdom. They need help from the Outsiders to put the kaiju (and the rebels that are supporting it) down so that peace can continue. With how few people they have capable of fighting, they turned to LILITH in desperation.
As the Outsiders are directed to one of the wings of the castle to settle in, some might notice something… Off. While all the Outsiders who had agreed to go to the mission are present and accounted for, some members of their group are acting a little odd. When spoken to, they behave the same in terms of personality, but some of the things they’re saying are strange, or don’t sound right…
Some Outsiders have come to believe that they have always lived in Neo Tokyo, and don’t remember any other life. They’re convinced that this is the truth, and any attempt to dissuade them is met with resistance, both of the Outsiders feeling nauseated, with the risk of migraines developing. It doesn’t seem as if anything works to break this strange sickness, no matter what is attempted.
That might be a problem to deal with later.
Once bunks have been agreed on (and they will need to share rooms), Outsiders are given free rein to explore Windsor Castle. Gwen - and her generals, a group of women who can often be found around her, peering over maps, reports and other paperwork, giving advice and arguing about the best course of action - tell Outsiders that it would be best to stay within the castle walls, due to the threats of smaller kaiju outside the base. They do ask that, if they have spare time, that they help the people around the castle as much as they can, as there’s a lot of upkeep to do, and they’re running low on people thanks to their failed missions.
The castle is large, and beautifully decorated with medieval tapestries that have clung to their existence despite the impact of time. There are various locations of interest that the Outsiders are welcome to nose their way around: a library, filled with hundreds of books; the stable, where various horses of different kinds can be found (and ridden!); the outskirts around the bailey, with various small dogs; the feasting hall, where meals are served (mostly farm grown foods, and very limited meats) and, finally, the garrison (which, at the moment, only the non-afflicted Outsiders are permitted into, for ‘the safety of the others), with medieval weaponry on the walls.

▶ 003. IT HAS A GREAT KNIGHT-LIFE.
As the Outsiders settle in, the influence of the strange memory manipulation becomes stronger. Outsiders who are convinced they’ve been in this world their entire lives may grow more determined about it, and find strength in talking about their strange new memories. Anyone attempting to convince them otherwise will likely find themselves ostracised and left to the generous mercy of the civilians around the castle. Either way, both sets of Outsiders are generally welcomed around the castle.
The accommodation is good, but there are a few minor issues. Some of the dishes the Outsiders are served taste a little off (perhaps the lack of spice?) and locals urge their guests to stay away from some areas of the castle. If they do decide to go there despite the warnings, there doesn’t seem to be anything amiss. Maybe it’s a British thing?
There are a huge amount of things that need doing around the castle, and the native population are more than happy to encourage the Outsiders to take part and help them with what little resources they have remaining. If Outsiders volunteer to help, they’re informed about the many odd jobs that need doing around the castle and how they can support the locals:
There are dozens of other odd jobs that need done, too, and Outsiders can find themselves tasked with almost any minor task that they can imagine - from novice carpentry, to cleaning, to taking care of the corgi population to even exercising the horses. There are no limits to how helpful the Outsiders can be to their temporary home.
Throughout this time, Gwen and her generals are preparing for the upcoming mission and sharing briefs with the Outsiders as they gear up: there’s been a trace of the beast somewhere near Egham, ironically called the “Enchanted Forest”. If the Outsiders attempt to probe Gwen or question her for specifics, she’ll shrug them off, for now; there simply isn’t enough time to answer everyone personally, and she’s incredibly busy.

If Outsiders volunteer to help, they’re informed about the many odd jobs that need doing around the castle and how they can support the locals:
OPERATION: CAN WE FIX IT?
Outsiders are tasked with helping to repair and, in some cases, reinforce the wall surrounding the castle and the bailey. It’s clearly been damaged from kaiju attacks, and some areas are more damaged than others. There are limited amounts of brick, so there may be a need to go out on a reconnaissance mission to gather more supplies. Outsiders will be rewarded with carved items from the civilians - dogs, horses, dragons, and lions.
OPERATION: WE’RE GOING ON A KAIJU HUNT.
Outsiders are asked to go out in small groups to deal with the small, minor kaiju that have been threatening the castle. The threat is a mixture of various wild kaiju, including vicious wild deer, boar, foxes and badgers. Some are more dangerous than others, and most attack on sight. Outsiders will be rewarded with small gifts from the civilians - gloves with sheep wool interiors, large cotton blankets and, if they bring back their kills, fresh kaiju meat meals.
OPERATION: CLAYSON’S FARM.
Outsiders are asked to help the castle farmers for the upcoming months, both the livestock and the crops themselves. The calves will need to be weaned (which might include chasing them around a field), wool from ewes clipped and harvesting the winter wheat, potato and sugar beet before planting the new crop. Outsiders will be rewarded with small gifts from the farmers - bouquets of dried flowers, their first choice of the harvested crops, bottles of homemade cider, and even naming some of the livestock after the most helpful.
OPERATION: THE GRAVEYARD SHIFT (AU’D CHARACTERS ONLY).
Outsiders are asked to tend to a graveyard deep in the back area of the castle, surrounded by forests. They will need to clean the graves, tidy up anything that has been left behind, check the records are accurate and pay their respects. Outsiders will be rewarded with a broach in a strange horse shape from Gwen herself, who says it will permit them into some of the closed off areas of the castle. This includes the ‘spa’ (where the water is always cold); the ballroom (where the curtains are too heavy to move, so it’s always dark) and a special dining hall (which none of the cooking staff seem to know exists).
OPERATION: A PROPER GANDER (NON-AU’D CHARACTERS ONLY).
Outsiders are asked to deal with the rebel propaganda that’s popped up around the castle. They will need to clean the graffiti, remove posters, try and track down where they’re getting in and ensure none remains. Outsiders will be rewarded with Turkish Delight candies (hand-delivered by Gwen, as it’s her own personal recipe), nightly offers of hot chocolate and their choice of art supplies so they can add their own murals to the castle (once approved by the generals, of course).
▶ 004. HASTY PREPARATION.
Not long into the Outsiders’ stay at the castle, a scouting report comes back with alarming news: the kaiju is on the move and seems to have more humans under its control, preparing to launch a counterattack on the castle and the people within. The generals, Gwen leading the charge, are quick to gather their weapons and supplies and start to consider a way of fighting back before the worst happens: the castle is laid siege.
Everyone in the castle is suddenly part of a whirlwind of motion, all trying to plan the counterattack and how to deal with the kaiju before it’s too late. Gwen is more than willing to listen to what the Outsiders have to say as spokespeople for LILITH, and due to their experience in dealing with kaiju in the past; she’s keen to know what they’ve tried, what worked, and what didn’t work.
The next few days have the castle in preparation mode. Weapons are checked, books on tactics and histories are revised to see for any weaknesses that might have been missed, and Outsiders are encouraged to do whatever they can to help, just as they have been before.
It’s as hard to get Gwen and her generals alone as it was before, but there’s a general feeling of finality around the keep; this could be it. She does make an announcement a day before the march:

Killing this kaiju might be the only way to free the Outsiders from its influence.
This might be the final push to get rid of the kaiju forever.

The kaiju seems to have the power to influence emotion, and memory along with it. A previous attack left a relic in the beast, which has healing properties: it is this that will cure your friends. We must defeat the monster and bring this relic home, with all swiftness."

▶ AFTERWORD.
This Travel Log #7!
Due to the nature of the final prompt, the Kaiju RNG will be posted in a few days to allow for time for Outsiders to gather clues and plan a counterattack against the kaiju.
The clues Outsiders receive (both AU and non-AU options) will be vital for charting a course for tackling this kaiju, so please add your suggestions (and ICly +1 other people's) before the 10th at the latest. We strongly encourage players to coordinate their clues together ICly to come up with solutions!
The planned attack will be based on character suggestions using this comment.
All comments in this event count for 2 points towards October AC. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask them below.

muramasa has an ability called karmic eye (deets here) which allows him to vibe check someone's karma and suffering. it works on both humans and human-like beings (like fairies in canon) because "all sentient beings have the potential for buddhahood". its not a lie detector or an omniscient telemetry ability, just a vibe check, and it is something he is able to do just by physically looking at someone.
tl;dr muramasa is like an empath fr but for suffering and regrets specifically
can you tell me if/what gwen's Vibe Check will tell him when he looks at her?

COUNTERATTACK IDEAS.
Please note: sharing clues and deciding on a counterattack plan ICly will influence the course taken by Gwen and her generals in the second part of this event!
NAME: Who is suggesting the plan (can be multiple characters).
SUGGESTION: How do they plan to track, hunt, attack, etc, the kaiju?
no subject
SUGGESTION:
Kaga's suggestion consists entirely of using her planes to spot the kaiju and or rebels and run strike attacks on any threats found. She has no qualms about going after enemy humans as lethally as she will the kaiji. Because of course she doesn't.

He saves the stables for last, wanting to see real horses at least for a bit. He enters the bar in time to hear Dirk's Totally Legit Save.]

Vergilius | Limbus Company | Brimstone
[A beautiful castle. Things to do. You would think someone as crotchedy as Vergilius, well known for his glower and general coldness, wouldn't be involved in any of these random tasks. After all, with his background, why do anything for free? Out of the goodness of his heart?]
[And yet.....here he is. With his sleeves rolled up, and a general...pleased.....mood, Vergilius is hard at work on one of the brick walls. He's the strong sort, so when he's not slapping down mortar, he's approaching others to give whatever heavy bag or pile of materials a lift.]
Hey. Be careful with that, okay? Don't be afraid to ask for help.
[At times, he can be even heard humming to himself with.....a little smile on his face?]
[Who is this guy?]
2. HASTY PREPARATION (the announcement)
[Emotions and memories, huh? Vergilius listens to this with arms folded, before heaving a haggard sigh. What a mess. Kaijus and their ilk always causing trouble.]
[He does turn to whoever is nearby, though, giving them a little nod.]
Are you thinking of investigating around the castle? Maybe two heads are better than one.
[An offer - from Vergilius? Check the window. Maybe there's a flying pig kaiju out there.]

Bakugō Katsuki 💥 Boku no Hero Academia 💥 Everlight
▶ 001. IT’S (NOT) LONDON, BABY.
💥 ➊ LONDON. - Departure Packing
[Why the hell do these alarms always go off at in buttcrack of dawn? Can't they rip themselves open at noon or in the evening, especially when it's nothing more than a goddamn briefing?! Who the hell wants to get drag out of bed for a fucking meeting and then released to pack?! THEY COULD'VE DONE THIS SHIT AFTER LUNCH AND THEY'D STILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME!! Going by transporter means they can't even pack as much as a vehicle transport! Fuck!
Whether you find him angrily folding clothes and neatly inserting them into a duffel bag (strangely skilled despite his rage) or grumbling to himself as he heads for the teleportation module, Bakugo's in little mood to talk. Interrupt him if you dare.]
💥 ➋ LONDON. - Arrival Tea
[Warping is a familiar sensation by now. A rushing suck dragging his body forward, pins and needles as if he's being taken apart and pieced back together molecule by molecule, a pressurized shove from behind as everything suddenly slows down in the front, and he's walking out onto the platform in London. Duffel bag at his side, backpack swung onto his shoulders, and metal briefcase-like attache at his side.
He hangs off to the left, letting the momentary dizziness and nausea wave pass. Fuck, think they'd find a way to avoid those side effect. Luckily it's only temporary and he's soon finding his place on the outskirts of the other Outsiders, leaning against railing with a steaming cup of tea beside him. He doesn't like being around too many people anyways.]
▶ 002. AN OUTSIDER WALKS INTO A CASTLE.
💥 ➊ CASTLE. - Discussion
[First time he's ever been in a proper European castle. Towering walls of rock and stone, glass windows with iron bar designs, all the cliche appearances of books and movies he's seen pop up here and there, from tapestries to flaming sconces to a suit of armor monitoring the hall. Far different from Japanese castles. It's a mixture of strange and impressive to stand in a place so historically entrenched. Like he's expecting a tour guide to pop out all of a sudden and spout out some kind of damn lecture. Yeah, he spent the first day exploring rather than doing much else beyond settling in and eating.
But day two is getting down to business, listening to reports and collecting information. Bakugo sits within a stone window cove, back pressed to smooth walls, one leg dangling down towards the floor, the other tucked at the knee with his foot half-braced on the opposite side of his perch. A bowl of soup for dinner, another Outsider recently deciding they're gonna keep him company uninvited. Whatever.]
Tch, another fucking cult. [After the Romanian wolf and it's village of lunatics, hearing another country has a kaiju enthralling its people bring back some bad warning signs.] These idiots really think some fucking monster's gonna care about them beyond utilitarian means?
💥 ➋ CASTLE. - Delusion
Haa?! [Bakuo looks up from what looks like a massive grenade as long as his forearm. His expression's wrenched in a look of disgust and confusion as he stares at his companion, lips curled and one eye wider than the other.] The hell do you mean "always", dumbass? The longest anyone's been here is two December's ago!
💥 ➌ CASTLE. - Downtime
Library ~ [In a world swimming with technology and digital media, physical books and papers are a rarity. Bakugo picks up another stack of five under his arm and shoves off the ground with one foot, sending the ladder rolling across its racks and shelving rails towards another section of the library. He zealously guarded Nanami's little bookstore for a long time after the man left, until LILITH commissioned a library in the base, which now houses those very donated books. So damn right he's helping out at the castle library. Plus it's quiet in here.]
Oy! Throw that and I'll kill you. [Somewhat quiet.]
Stable ~ [When's the last time he ever saw a horse?! In person. Probably when he was in grade school. Bakugo might have a lot of talents under his belt, but equestrianism is not one of them. In that he's only gone horseback riding twice in his life. Currently perched atop a badass-looking black stallion, the blonde twists around in the saddle somewhat, casting his eye about the stable's riding grounds.]
I am holding the reins, dammit! Deathride's being fucking stubborn! [Yes, he named the horse. No, it's not its name. Probably why it's not responding. Stubborn proud horse, just like the guy mounting him. Who wins out?]
Bailey ~ [Bakugo wondered what all that damn racket was. Now he found out: a host of small dogs, likely used for hinting. Beagles, dachshunds, terriers, etc. A whole group of them hot on the heals of one of the Outsiders bolting through the bailey's grassy tracts. Does he help? Hell no! He simply crosses his arms over the fence and watches.]
Better keep running or you're not gonna have any ankles left, dumbass!
Garrison ~ [Given he's one of the non-afflicted Outsiders, Bakugo's permitted into the garrison to wander and explore. Of course he's seen these kinds of weapons. Even his superhero-obsessed world hasn't forgotten its past. Heroes and villains themed off knights and wizards exist. Some even use these kinds of weapons with their Quirks. He picks a morning flail from its hold, letting the spiked balls dangle from their chain.]
Damn, it's heavier than I thought. You could take a head off with this.
▶ 003. IT HAS A GREAT KNIGHT-LIFE.
💥 ➊ OPERATION. - Fix It
[Despite his Quirk seeming like it's best used for destruction, Bakugo vehemently rejected any idea that's the extent of his Quirk's ability. He wraps two satchels of bricks in an X across his shoulders and chest, then KA-BOOM! blasts himself three stories up and alights on another castle parapet. Two seconds at best, when it would've taken almost a minute to cart those things up here via a latter of pulley. Bakugo shucks the satchels off and lets the workers take the bricks while he drops off and falls all three stories back to the ground-- BOom! --popping to his feet right before hitting.]
You got more bricks or do we need to go get some?
[Damn right he's getting a carved dragon for his troubles later on. He will take that back home with him proudly.]
💥 ➋ OPERATION. - Kaiju Hunt
[Kaiju keep getting more numerous and smaller in size when the big fuckers aren't running around. Bakugo snaps off another explosion (it looks like a grenade abruptly goes off in one hand) and sends a frothing deer-like beast flying backwards into a tree. Ignore the sound it makes. But there's no motion afterwards. He lowers his arm, expression a mixture of solemn and bored. These stupid things are nothing more than a damn chore.]
They said hunt but it feels like we're just a buncha damn exterminators.
[Still, he'll be bringing back a large cotton blanket, despite his attempt to turn down the gift. The lady just smiled and flopped it over his head like a giant ass shawl. Ugh...]
💥 ➌ OPERATION. - A Proper Gander
[Rip! Rip! FUCKING RIP!! Bakugo clears the entire alley in a blistering speed, leaving nothing but smoke and some explosion-warmed stone walls behind. He lands on his feet outside the alley entrance, holding a massive wad of paper in one crunched fist. Before- KABOOM! -he detonates the entire wad with a larger blast.]
Why the hell are there posters and graffiti all the way in this backwater place?! It's a damn country heritage site! Painting on it should have a death sentence!
[Ignore his rantings. Or encourage them. Whichever. Just hope you don't run into anyone posting those posters because Bakugo WILL rough them up. Or feel free to find him later looking at a chunk of Turkish Delight with a strange face. What is this?]
▶ 004. HASTY PREPARATION.
💥 ➊ PREPARATION. - Focus
[More mental assaults. Are the kaiju so fucking dedicated to this tactic they're willing to screw with anything the Outsiders have in their heads? Physical brains, personal memories, the damn ocular behind their eyes. He watches people he's known for months suddenly think they've been here their entire lives, pissed off any arguments with them cause war not only in words, but in their minds. Headaches, nausea, physical paybacks for daring to tell someone they're fucking wrong!
Bakugo's opted not to breach the subject unless someone else does first, and then he's not gonna stop himself from reminding them they're confused. Doesn't have to go further than that, as long as he gets the last word.
As people prepare for the approaching siege, Bakugo does his part to get the castle ready. You might catch him placing quivers of arrows or ammunition belts beside windows, setting out weapons and checking barricades for strength and stability. Or you might catch him peering around the wall and pointing to a giant ass cauldron atop a tower.]
So are we gonna pour boiling oil on people too? Look, the rainwater trenches go to the spouts and gargoyels. We could use that as a barricade.
[Damn right he's suggesting Notre Dame-ing their opponents!]
[OOC: If you'd like a personal starter or want to discuss plots, feel free to PM me and we'll work something out! You don't have to use any of the starters here if you'd like to wildcard another activity or conversation topic. I'm open to whatever!]
002. ➌ - Bailey
so the afternoon finds Choso sprinting across the grassy expanse with a whole thicket of Hell's tiniest hounds on his heels. he tells himself it's for fun. it's a bonding experience. they will surely accept him with this playtime run.
a tinier, meaner, more sensible voice reminds him that to their little wet noses, he is still half a curse too much to be acceptable. if they accept him, it will be in pieces.
it is the only reason he refuses to slow down even a little. there he goes, thundering back down along the fence with his pursuers only a couple paces behind. for such squat little things, they sure were persistent. ]

1. an outsider walks into the castle
[ there is… not much to give away that there is something wrong with Daybit.
the way that he carries himself hasn’t changed, and the uncanny state hasn’t changed either. but… ]
Hey. Do you need help?
[ he is just the slightest bit… friendlier?
it seems like if he’s approaching people who appear to need some sort of help. though maybe it’s a bit unsettling to hear that question from a guy that has such an intense stare… ]
2. graveyard shift
[ deep in the graveyard, Daybit is...well, doing his job. he's picking up the old, dried flowers, cleaning the accumulated dirt and grime from the tombstones, etc. if there's something that hasn't changed, it's the fact that he's a quiet, meticulous worker.
but he's not entirely distracted either. once he hears the sound of footsteps, he lifts his head up, turning towards your character. ]
