TEAM BUILDING EVENT #1

TEAM BUILDING EVENT #1

CONTENT WARNINGS: forced scenarios, violence & action scenarios, thalassophobia, mass death & injury from natural disaster.

β–Ά 001. GET ALONG PROMPT

LILITH is highly invested in the physical and mental well-being of its employees. A happy and connected workforce is a strong workforce, after all. However, SYNTHIA has picked up on many instances of discontent between Outsiders - people being blocked by each other on LINE, or teetering on the edge of having a fight (you know who you are and so does SYNTHIA, surprise!) That just won't do. Outsiders who cannot get along will fail miserably when it's time for teamwork. That is why this month's team-building exercise aims to spread positivity amongst the Outsiders. We all gotta get along in the middle of a crisis.

Whether you are looking someone in the face, texting them, or staring at their profile on the network, you receive a prompt from SYNTHIA, followed by an image (exactly as pictured, Shutterstock watermark and all):

"LILITH promotes a positive working environment. Why don't you pay this Outsider a compliment or do something nice for them? Or else :) Noncompliance will result in disciplinary action."

True enough, ignoring the prompt a total of 5 times will result in characters being transported to their rooms and put under house arrest - ahem, time out for a total of 2 days. It doesn't hurt to play along, right? As a note, the prompts become especially persistent when you're faced with someone you dislike. Should Outsiders try to leave their room during this time, they will find the automatic doors do not open the typical way (retina scan and thumb print.) They are trapped! Perhaps asking SYNTHIA for some mercy with positive compliments directed her way will do the trick (it won't, bu you can try!) Remember, Outsiders can speak to SYNTHIA anytime. She's everywhere all the time. Consider her your prettier Alexa. In fact, she might be flattered by that compliment.

β–Ά 002. TEAM ACTIVITIES.

You've had your fun back at the MAIN BASE. Now it's time to work. Outsiders will be sent back out towards Tokyo Bay while LILITH's research crew continues to try and detect the source of the strong waves. The city is in disarray after the tsunami, with the less secured buildings torn down and many lives lost. Morale within Neo Tokyo is at an all time low even with civilians comforting one another. Each Outsider will receive a small mission brief marked in the colours of their respective team as they are once again flown via helicopter to the designated area.

REDEMPTION:
Outsiders within REDEMPTION are tasked to spread joy in the streets and at the hospital. Be creative in how you wish to do this, whether it's putting on a performance, a skit, or spreading kindness with gifts and sweet gestures. Those with a Style Upgrade are encouraged to use their chip to don funny and eye catching costumes to entertain the civilians. Those with a healing upgrade are highly encouraged to help medical staff.

REVELATION:
Outsiders within REVELATION are tasked with babysitting duties. Many parents are still recovering in the hospital and there's no one to watch their children while they recover. A lot of pets need looking after too! Make sure the children and furbabies are fed, clothed and getting enough sleep. This can even include filling in for classrooms that have recently lost their teacher. Outsiders in REVELATION are encouraged to keep a tally of the census and go looking for lost children if someone seems to be missing.

EVERLIGHT:
Outsiders within EVERLIGHT will be tasked with keeping the people fed and the local businesses running. This can mean organising a soup kitchen, preparing homecooked meals for the civilians and delivering hot meals door to door. It can also mean helping local businesses with repairs to their shops, bringing them supplies and filling in for the staff they might have lost. The city might have just been hit with a tsunami, but that doesn't mean it needs to shut down!

BRIMSTONE:
Outsiders within BRIMSTONE are the luckiest of the lot - they get to be clean up crew. They will be mandated to wear hazmat suits in outrageous colours along with breathing gear. Why? Because they will be scrubbing the whole place of rubble, dirt, debris and corpses. Yes, corpses. Outsiders within BRIMSTONE will be given a census and tasked with identifying any dead body they find. They will then need to transport the corpse to the nearest LILITH disposal truck on a stretcher, where LILITH will cremate it properly. Note that they will be some survivors in the mix, so be prepared to administer first aid and conduct rescue operations accordingly.

Within certain parts of the city (the sewers, in particular, which have flooded with water), the natural flora seems to have been poisoned by a mysterious element. Toxic, monstrous plants are coming alive and attacking anything they see! They bind and strangle Outsiders with their vines and sting them with their nettles. These plants need to be dealt with before they overgrow. Fire & ice works well on them.

"Good afternoon, Angels of LILITH. Please pay close attention to the brief sent to you. We have specific duties for each team. Once you have done enough work, you will be prompted to help another team with their tasks if you desire. Our research crew is searching for the source of the kaiju and we have received information it is in the ocean. Please be ready in case it makes an appearance again before we can find it. You will be staying in Moonlight Inn & 11 Hours hostel once again as we should remain close by. Thank you for the cooperation."

Outsiders will need to finish their team missions. However, if they have time afterward and want to do some overtime, they are more than welcome to help the other teams on their missions.

β–Ά 003. IT ISN'T OVER YET.

Those who remember the mission brief two weeks ago will know that the first shockwaves are usually the sign of an impending kaiju. LILITH is conducting their own investigations, but with a fresh and energetic workforce it only makes sense to ultilize it. All Outsiders will be given orders to collect samples and bring it back for ongoing testing. By samples, they mean contaminated fish or ocean life remains, or samples of the toxic plants appearing in the sewers.

For Outsiders braving the sewers, they will need to don the silly hazmat suits issued to BRIMSTONE for their own protection and fight off the monstrous plants to clip some samples. It's encouraged to get leaves, stems, seeds, flowers or the whole plant if you can manage it. (Note that collecting the whole plant in a sample container will result in said plant hissing and striking you through the glass.)

For Outsiders who feel like taking a swim, they will be given diving suits and ordered to take a dive in Tokyo Bay. Once in the waters, they are to hunt down and capture any contaminated fish or marine life they can find. This means tuna fish with three eyes or octopi with two heads and 16 legs. It's encouraged to capture them live, but LILITH will also accept remains or waste samples. (Note that the available oxygen in the tank is limited and attempting to swim too far from Neo Tokyo will likely result in an Outsider drowning. )

β–Ά 004. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our first CR Building event! All prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. Characters are encouraged to participate in their team-specific missions but can help out the other teams if they have time. Feel free to ask any event-related questions below!

As always, you are free to check out our main base and locations page and make up your own prompts!

Please note that all tags in this log will count for 2 reward points each. Have fun! The next log will feature the kaiju fight and will be posted on FEBRUARY 1st in lieu of a TDM.

[He's not going to admit that there might be something of similarity in those thoughts towards Yuji and his crew. Though his interactions with Megumi and Nobara have been few, they remind Bakuou of his classmates. A bunch of kids that have gone through a lot. Pain, humor, trials, bonding, loss, strengthening, life, death. Maybe a world of jujutsu sorcerers wasn't that much different from a world of heroes...

Any-fucking-ways!

Good thing Yuji didn't laugh at his costume or Dynamight would've blown way more than his temper. THIS COSTUME MAKES VILLAINS SHIT THEMSELVES WHEN THEY SEE IT, YOU IDIOT!! What the hell do you show up in, Gari Head? Onmyōji robes? And yeah, he does have to collapse those explosives bursts on his mask so his helmet goes on, but the rest is fine and gets covered easily enough.

Grrr... that fucking name! How dare you copy him, loser!]

Only if you're not going to get in my way.

[That's a mock, threat, and challenge all in one.]

[ Yuji does wonder what is going on with this guy, what's up in his mind, because of the constant switching from zero to one hundred every time they talk. There's something going on, Yuji thinks, but he's not sure what it is. Bakugo is kind enough to go out of his way to make sure Yuji is taken care of, but angry enough to shout and scold at him for needing to do it in the first place.

It's interesting enough to see him get into the costume and make himself comfortable, and all Yuji can do is sit and wait for him. Do all the people from Bakugo's home have crazy outfits like that? He and the others just get to wear their uniforms most of the time, so...

If he didn't think Bakugo would explode at him, he might ask, so instead he just shakes his head with a determined grin. ]

I'm pretty good at this kind of thing, so don't worry, I can hold my own.

[ Nodding, he lifts his helmet to put it on. ]

Do we have a timer or something?

[Pride. Image. Naturally short temper, perfectionist, efficient, competitive, and a still-maturing-but-childish-inferiority-complex-treated-as-superiority-complex all stuffed in a heroic heart desiring to be the best hero possible. Maybe someday Yuji can figure that out through interactions with Bakugo. The guy just doesn't like to appear "soft" or "vulnerable" in any way. And that includes taking care of people he might actually give a shit about.

Some hero costumes are pretty wild. Some are relatively tame. Two of his classmates' hero costumes look like they just walked out of Hot Topic, with some tech gear to help them battle. Go figure. Bakugo will just have to wonder more about Yuji's world without asking him for details. Until his curiosity finally makes him do so... Eventually they'll find a balance between when he's more open to talking and when it'll set him off.]

Good. You wouldn't wanna tell your friends you got stuck in the sewers.

[Ribbing. As for the question, Bakugo tosses Yuji a small device that looks like a basic stopwatch.]

They'd definitely come down and scold me again.

[ And, inevitably, Bakugo would go and snitch on him again, so he's going to have to make sure that he's careful. The last thing that he wants is for Fushiguro or Kugisaki to come chasing after him and get into trouble. He's the one that can resist poison, after all, not them, so...

Tugging just to make sure his costume is on completely, Yuji grins at Bakugo, reaching to grab the stopwatch with a nod of his head. Then he easily tugs his helmet up over his face, the bright pink a perfect compliment to his hair colour.

Glancing down at the entrance, he frowns a little. ]

Maybe you shouldn't do shit they'll scold you for...

[Mutter. That's why he said you call them; he's not gonna keep some damn "snitch" reputation around Yuji. You're on your own for reporting back to your friends, Gari Head. Well you, until the times Yuji really needs and Bakugo has to be a stupid hero and do so... BUT UNTIL THAT TIME COMES, he's gonna be petty and not say shit. They can find out and yell at Yuji about stuff.

Though Yuji's not wrong in wanting to keep as many people as necessary out of the risk of these toxins. There's a reason why LILITH didn't sic all of the teams on the clean up duty. Not just because help was needed in other areas.

Bakugo's already heading into the sewer tunnel by the time Yuji looks to the entrance and offers to go point. It's probably no surprise the hero picked orange for his suit color (because the fuckers didn't have black). He pauses long enough to scoop a few stones from the outside of the sewer tunnel, putting them in a plastic bag for later. Not wasting his grenades for sound tests.]

If I did that, then people should get into trouble, so I should be able to do what I can handle. I'm going to take it easier now, though.

[ Yuji is taking their words on board now, though. He's listened to Nanami, to Fushiguro and Kugisaki, and he knows the kind of pain his suffering would cause them all, in the end. It's hard to put himself in their shoes, because he has experienced that kind of loss. He knows how it would feel for them, if he was the one to die, if his life was the one sacrificed. That doesn't make it easier for him to avoid the dangers himself, though, not when he knows he is the one who can carry it best.

He's strong; he's suffered enough that he could pull himself together after without too much trouble. The idea of letting the others carry that burden, or those problems, when he has the shoulders for it...

At least this is something he can focus on, and he follows after Bakugo without any hesitation. Grabbing the torch, he does as he's told before he wanders up behind him, testing out the range of motion on his arms. He can fight if he needs to, it seems, but maybe they shouldn't be expecting that. ]

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-21 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You really think they're going to scold you for saving someone?

[He can't see Megumi or Nobara getting mad at Yuji for doing what he had to and protecting someone. Okay, scratch that. He can see them getting mad at Yuji for not waiting for them or for getting into a fight on what was supposed to be a simple errand. But those things can be explained and exonerate Yuji from their anger.

It's the being reckless part, getting damaged when he could've waited for help, rushing in without thinking when he had time to be cautious, taking risks that weren't needed, pushing himself beyond limits that didn't have to be reached if he'd relied on others or trusted them to be strong... It's when someone you care for takes on too much just because they feel like they have to, that you get mad and scold them for being a stupid Gari Head.

Yuji wouldn't see it that way. Deku didn't see it that way either... Both of them are over protective, self sacrificing idiots. It's hard to accept the fact sometimes others have to suffer to win, when you think you alone should be the one to suffer instead of them. But the reality is, by thinking that way, you're essentially telling your friends:

You're too weak.

What person, hero or sorcerer, wants to hear that condemnation from someone they care for and fought beside?

Bakugo shines the light ahead of him, keeping it in a constant, slow sweep to make sure the light doesn't stay in one place for too long at any given time. It keeps the darkness at bay. Yuji's sudden exclamation feels like a yell right in his ear and Bakugo's head tilts to the side in annoyance at the volume and exuberance.]

Keep it down! You wanna let everything in here know we're coming?!

[... you know, actually that's a good idea. if it'll draw their quarry out. but it also risks sending what they're supposed to be hunting into hiding, which would severely waste their time limit.]

Did those Brimbastards tell you how these plant monsters acted?
eyescar: 🐯 anime (pic#16690041)

[personal profile] eyescar 2024-01-24 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Doesn't it depend on how I save them?

[ If he does it by getting himself into more danger than he needed to, or by risking his life foolishly, sure, he can see them getting mad. He's working on it, though - Nanami had tried to drill it into him, tried to push for him to really understand their position, and he's doing his best to take it on board properly.

If he doesn't, then he's going to keep getting them more and more upset with him, and causing them to be miserable. That's not what Yuji wants, all things considered, since they're being given a second chance here. He wants it to be a good time, not a bad one.

Following after Bakugo, Yuji sighs softly, nodding his head and tempering himself a little. He doesn't want to end up getting into another argument with him, and if he keeps making comments, then he'll end up bringing whatever creatures are down here right to their side. ]

They just said they might fight us a little. I've never fought a plant before... Just a grasshopper creature, but they're probably not the same.

[ Bugs and plants... Not similar, no. ]

We can figure it out together, though. One of us can hold them and the other one can clip them.
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (πŸ’₯ Unusual birds for spring...)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-24 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh.

[The "how" is the operative word, since he probably won't get yelled at for saving them by punching something off versus throwing a stop sign at the threat, but would get yelled at for taking a bullet in the chest to protect them or doing something else self-sacrificing his friends didn't think he should've done, or wished he hadn't. But that's an element Yuji knows because Bakugo doesn't know Megumi and Nobara anywhere near well enough to know what their tolerances are.

And Bakugo isn't going to be getting chummy with other people. (So he says.) He can guess kind of what's running through Yuji's mind. Though keeping someone safe isn't the same as keeping someone happy. Midoriya thought he was keeping everyone safe by leaving them all behind and striking out on his own, straight up refusing to acknowledge the stress and damage striking out rouge was doing to him. He also didn't realize (stupidly enough) how much he was looking down on his friends by not trusting their desire and ability to keep him safe as well...

Bakugo sees a lot of Midoriya in Yuji. It's probably one of the reasons why he got irritated with him and makes him growl when the other boy does stupid shit.

It's a toss up between noise attracting their quarry versus sending the monsters into hiding to either wait their departure or ambush their location. Hard to know which is the proper route to go, especially if the Brimstone group only has that kind of information to offer. Great. Bakugo's irritated tongue click comes over the comms easily enough.]

Holding a poisonous plant isn't a good idea. Keep your distance first to see how it behaves. Then move to close range if you're confident you won't be hit. [While Bakugo normally fights close range, he's seen enough hero battles (and comics) to know how to treat a "my person is dangerous" opponent. It's one of the reasons he deliberately worked on creating some long-range moves in his arsenal.] How's your aim?

[And tosses Yuji one of the rocks he picked up outside the sewer entrance earlier.]
eyescar: 🐾 manga (pic#16963618)

[personal profile] eyescar 2024-01-26 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it help if I tell you that poison doesn't affect me?

[ Poisons, toxins, other things like it... Thanks to Sukuna's influence on his body, his immunity is obvious. Maybe it won't be as effective here, since Sukuna doesn't seem to be here with him, but at the same time he can still use his cursed energy... It's complicated, and Yuji can't do much more than sigh, hoping that he's not completely wrong about all of this.

If this is something he can do, then he can do it. It's not pushing himself: it's holding a plant. It's not going to hurt him.

Focusing on the mission is easy enough, shoving all the distractions aside; he's got something to do, and he's going to do it. Compartmentalising isn't a difficult task for Yuji Itadori, shoving the way he feels into the depths of his mind to worry about later, when he's alone and the nightmares come. It's probably not the healthiest thing in the world to do, but he's not sure how much he can do in order to cope beyond that. He has a role to focus on, and that comes first.

Lifting his head, he focuses on Bakugo, responding quickly and quietly. ]

My aim is good. You don't have to worry about me keeping up, dandelion, I can handle it.

[ His hand lifts on reflex, without hesitation, to grab the rock. ]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (πŸ’₯ No.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-01-26 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No. [Bakugo holds his hand out and a few tiny bursts and sparks ignite over his palm.] My Quirk's been weakened since I got here. Some dimension travel bullshit temporarily affecting outsiders' abilities.

[While Explosion is currently strong enough to destroy a vehicle, Bakugo used to be able to level a building. It's a temporary damper, yes, but he'll have to work his Quirk back up to its original strength and beyond. Meaning he's erring on the side of caution when it comes to other Outsiders and their powers. He would've scoffed at the very notion, had his own Quirk not obviously been affected. Additionally, Bakugo would prefer not to make that kind of phone call to Yuji's friends.]

If your immunity's also weakened, you're gonna end up dead rushing in there. [Bakugo looks at Yuji's with narrowed eyes.] Until you test it first, you should consider yourself vulnerable for now.

[Note, this is Bakugo obviously not caring about his teammate. Don't take it as concern or anything. Piss off. Still, he's giving Yuji the benefit of the doubt, being open to a controlled test, since Bakugo doesn't disbelieve the guy's claim to toxic immunity. It's the current state of that immunity that he's wary about.

Yuji catches the rock without a problem, so that's a good sign. He knew the guy was physically fit. Probably well above an average human as well, considering the kind of world he came from. The mention of "worrying" about Yuji earns a brief snort from the explosive blonde and he stalks forward.]

I'm not fucking worried about you, Gari Head. [Sure, says the guy who just suggested Yuji not rush in headlong.] I'm gonna complete this mission without a single problem.

[Which will be a tall order because the pipe they're walking through ends in a gaping circular chasm. Another pipe across from them suggests it used to connect, but more pipes below suggest that it might be a huge drainage collection. There's the first sign of vegetation on a pipe entrance about a story below them. Glassy red leaves on black thorned tendrils curl out of the pipe, akin to a garish entry invite or potentially something readying to pull itself out.]

It has? My power has felt the same. I haven't really used it to the full extent, though.

[ He can still punch just as hard, lift heavy things, jump high... But he hasn't put one hundred percent into the simulations because he didn't really need to. Their mission is going to be the first time he stretches himself, but he also has to make sure that he doesn't get into too much trouble. The danger of him getting into trouble is high either side, so...

Nodding his head, he looks over at Bakugo with a twitch of a smile. ]

Sure, okay, I'll test it out later. Right now, we'll figure this out.

[ Shaking his head, he rolls his eyes and moves forward to catch up with him a little bit, trying not to grin. ]

I don't mean worried like you care. I meant you don't have to be concerned that I won't do my part.

[ Leaning down a little, he stares at the plants with a frown, squinting through his suit. ]

How do you want to handle this, then?

Tch, lucky you.

[If he sounds grouchy or petty about that revelation, then yeah, it's because he is. Some people maybe escaped that fuckery because their powers were simpler or weaker? Dodged under the radar. Or perhaps they were too powerful and whatever interference they went through just didn't affect them. He has no way of knowing. But damn if Bakugo's going to let himself stay at this weaker state! He'll drive himself right back to full power and go beyond that! Plus Ultra!

Damn right he put his all into the simulations. Which was probably a good thing he was running on less power. Unless the simulation area could tank his strongest Ultimate Moves. They better start working to reinforce that as he gets stronger though. Because he's not going to stop.

... the hell are you smiling at, Gari Head?]

Hmph. [At least he can see some reason. Does he expect Yuji not to jump in? NOPE! So he'll prepare for it when the event happens. There's a difference between toxic plants that sit there and wait for things to touch them, and actual moving monsters made of foliage. Bakugo's not sure which one they're dealing with yet. Reports were on both kinds.] You're not a weakling.

[Just an idiot. Bakugo narrows his eyes at the pipe below them. Seems to be the only one with plant life in it. The small stream of water running out of it suggests it's still draining whatever it's connected to. Or clogged.]

Put a rock into that pipe. See if you can bounce it a few times. [Like ricocheting a bullet.] That'll tell us if it's predatory or sedentary.

[Head's up, it is indeed predatory and will move those vines once motion's sensed.]
