TEAM BUILDING EVENT #1

TEAM BUILDING EVENT #1

CONTENT WARNINGS: forced scenarios, violence & action scenarios, thalassophobia, mass death & injury from natural disaster.

β–Ά 001. GET ALONG PROMPT

LILITH is highly invested in the physical and mental well-being of its employees. A happy and connected workforce is a strong workforce, after all. However, SYNTHIA has picked up on many instances of discontent between Outsiders - people being blocked by each other on LINE, or teetering on the edge of having a fight (you know who you are and so does SYNTHIA, surprise!) That just won't do. Outsiders who cannot get along will fail miserably when it's time for teamwork. That is why this month's team-building exercise aims to spread positivity amongst the Outsiders. We all gotta get along in the middle of a crisis.

Whether you are looking someone in the face, texting them, or staring at their profile on the network, you receive a prompt from SYNTHIA, followed by an image (exactly as pictured, Shutterstock watermark and all):

"LILITH promotes a positive working environment. Why don't you pay this Outsider a compliment or do something nice for them? Or else :) Noncompliance will result in disciplinary action."

True enough, ignoring the prompt a total of 5 times will result in characters being transported to their rooms and put under house arrest - ahem, time out for a total of 2 days. It doesn't hurt to play along, right? As a note, the prompts become especially persistent when you're faced with someone you dislike. Should Outsiders try to leave their room during this time, they will find the automatic doors do not open the typical way (retina scan and thumb print.) They are trapped! Perhaps asking SYNTHIA for some mercy with positive compliments directed her way will do the trick (it won't, bu you can try!) Remember, Outsiders can speak to SYNTHIA anytime. She's everywhere all the time. Consider her your prettier Alexa. In fact, she might be flattered by that compliment.

β–Ά 002. TEAM ACTIVITIES.

You've had your fun back at the MAIN BASE. Now it's time to work. Outsiders will be sent back out towards Tokyo Bay while LILITH's research crew continues to try and detect the source of the strong waves. The city is in disarray after the tsunami, with the less secured buildings torn down and many lives lost. Morale within Neo Tokyo is at an all time low even with civilians comforting one another. Each Outsider will receive a small mission brief marked in the colours of their respective team as they are once again flown via helicopter to the designated area.

REDEMPTION:
Outsiders within REDEMPTION are tasked to spread joy in the streets and at the hospital. Be creative in how you wish to do this, whether it's putting on a performance, a skit, or spreading kindness with gifts and sweet gestures. Those with a Style Upgrade are encouraged to use their chip to don funny and eye catching costumes to entertain the civilians. Those with a healing upgrade are highly encouraged to help medical staff.

REVELATION:
Outsiders within REVELATION are tasked with babysitting duties. Many parents are still recovering in the hospital and there's no one to watch their children while they recover. A lot of pets need looking after too! Make sure the children and furbabies are fed, clothed and getting enough sleep. This can even include filling in for classrooms that have recently lost their teacher. Outsiders in REVELATION are encouraged to keep a tally of the census and go looking for lost children if someone seems to be missing.

EVERLIGHT:
Outsiders within EVERLIGHT will be tasked with keeping the people fed and the local businesses running. This can mean organising a soup kitchen, preparing homecooked meals for the civilians and delivering hot meals door to door. It can also mean helping local businesses with repairs to their shops, bringing them supplies and filling in for the staff they might have lost. The city might have just been hit with a tsunami, but that doesn't mean it needs to shut down!

BRIMSTONE:
Outsiders within BRIMSTONE are the luckiest of the lot - they get to be clean up crew. They will be mandated to wear hazmat suits in outrageous colours along with breathing gear. Why? Because they will be scrubbing the whole place of rubble, dirt, debris and corpses. Yes, corpses. Outsiders within BRIMSTONE will be given a census and tasked with identifying any dead body they find. They will then need to transport the corpse to the nearest LILITH disposal truck on a stretcher, where LILITH will cremate it properly. Note that they will be some survivors in the mix, so be prepared to administer first aid and conduct rescue operations accordingly.

Within certain parts of the city (the sewers, in particular, which have flooded with water), the natural flora seems to have been poisoned by a mysterious element. Toxic, monstrous plants are coming alive and attacking anything they see! They bind and strangle Outsiders with their vines and sting them with their nettles. These plants need to be dealt with before they overgrow. Fire & ice works well on them.

"Good afternoon, Angels of LILITH. Please pay close attention to the brief sent to you. We have specific duties for each team. Once you have done enough work, you will be prompted to help another team with their tasks if you desire. Our research crew is searching for the source of the kaiju and we have received information it is in the ocean. Please be ready in case it makes an appearance again before we can find it. You will be staying in Moonlight Inn & 11 Hours hostel once again as we should remain close by. Thank you for the cooperation."

Outsiders will need to finish their team missions. However, if they have time afterward and want to do some overtime, they are more than welcome to help the other teams on their missions.

β–Ά 003. IT ISN'T OVER YET.

Those who remember the mission brief two weeks ago will know that the first shockwaves are usually the sign of an impending kaiju. LILITH is conducting their own investigations, but with a fresh and energetic workforce it only makes sense to ultilize it. All Outsiders will be given orders to collect samples and bring it back for ongoing testing. By samples, they mean contaminated fish or ocean life remains, or samples of the toxic plants appearing in the sewers.

For Outsiders braving the sewers, they will need to don the silly hazmat suits issued to BRIMSTONE for their own protection and fight off the monstrous plants to clip some samples. It's encouraged to get leaves, stems, seeds, flowers or the whole plant if you can manage it. (Note that collecting the whole plant in a sample container will result in said plant hissing and striking you through the glass.)

For Outsiders who feel like taking a swim, they will be given diving suits and ordered to take a dive in Tokyo Bay. Once in the waters, they are to hunt down and capture any contaminated fish or marine life they can find. This means tuna fish with three eyes or octopi with two heads and 16 legs. It's encouraged to capture them live, but LILITH will also accept remains or waste samples. (Note that the available oxygen in the tank is limited and attempting to swim too far from Neo Tokyo will likely result in an Outsider drowning. )

β–Ά 004. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our first CR Building event! All prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. Characters are encouraged to participate in their team-specific missions but can help out the other teams if they have time. Feel free to ask any event-related questions below!

As always, you are free to check out our main base and locations page and make up your own prompts!

Please note that all tags in this log will count for 2 reward points each. Have fun! The next log will feature the kaiju fight and will be posted on FEBRUARY 1st in lieu of a TDM.

[ You know what, he'll take the compromise, grabbing hold of that cleaning cloth and getting to work. It kind of reminds him of the (not really) good ol' days actually, back when he was just another nameless face at the Fortress, doomed to years of manual labor and menial work. ]

You sure are one hard-working kid. [ Is that his compliment?? Stay tuned. ] Competent too. Thanks for the hand in the sim room, by the way.
the_fourteenth: (078)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-01-31 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Um, thank you.

[Obviously someone here not great at taking compliments.]

It was nothing. Your abilities seem quite strong. [Not the greatest at giving compliments, either.] I'm sure those creatures would have been no problem for you.
frostfist: (pic#16873236)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-01 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Time to keep delivering compliments until Raidou gets used to them. But that can be a long-term project.

Wriothesley gets to work, scrubbing away at the smears and stains nearby. He looks perfectly relaxed for having immediately been demoted to janitorial duty, but honestly some regular manual labor isn't so bad every now and then. ]

Compared to a lot of the guys here, I've still got a long way to go. [ Looks like Raidou isn't the only incapable of accepting compliments gracefully. ] And there's no telling what else we might face in the future. Can't start slacking off now.

[ Why did this conversation suddenly get so serious....he reverses direction, glancing back at Raidou. ]

But that doesn't mean there's no time for fun. Have you explored around the city yet?
the_fourteenth: (059)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-02 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Raidou nods that that assessment. He feels the same way, really.] No. I've still be training a lot. There are a lot of things to learn from the others here.

[That's at least one nice thing about this place.

Raidou blinks at him at that question, though. He has to think about it.]

Ah... A little, I suppose. Not as much as I probably should. I've been a few places. I go to the skating rink. I volunteer at the nearby shrine. Um, occasionally the kids at school ask me to go to basketball games with them.

[He's trying! This is pretty remarkable effort for this kid.]

Have you? Have you found anything interesting?
frostfist: (pic#16873228)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-05 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Now that some semblance of a conversational rhythm has been achieved, Wriothesley finds it much easier to clean and talk at the same time, the expression on his face smoothing out into something more natural and upbeat. ]

Sounds like plenty to me.

[ He'd bet anything that there are at least a few people on base who'd rather stay holed up in their room than deal with the intensity of Neo-Tokyo. As for him... ]

Most of the city is pretty interesting to me, actually. It's quite the change of pace compared to where I'm from. [ A lot flashier for one.... ] It actually took some getting used to after I first arrived. Things aren't usually so....fast-paced, for one.
the_fourteenth: (129)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-05 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose. I, ah... I just want to stay busy.

[Easier to keep his mind occupied that way. No time to think. Sometimes he'd much rather be holed up in his room.

He can agree on how different this place is, nodding at that.]

I wouldn't say that might life back home wasn't "fast-paced". But it is still very different from my own Japan. For one, I'm from nearly 350 years in the past.
frostfist: (pic#16780260)

wow i am so sorry for my html failure last tag

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-06 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ THe occeasional squeak of his cloth is interrupted by the casual info drop, his whole head swinging around so he can squint at Raidou in surprise. ]

350 years?

[ That's centuries...so much can change in that time. It makes him wonder what it might have been like if he'd suddenly got dropped into Fontaine 350 years in the future. Would he be able to recognize anything? Would any of the buildings he sees on a regular basis still be around? ]

Is there anything left that's still the same as what you knew? Any landmarks or something?

[ Color him really curious now. ]
the_fourteenth: (097)

hey we've all been there

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-06 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
[He shakes his head.]

Not really. People I've talked to that also come from Japan, even they are from mostly a hundred years ahead of me, and seem to know of Tokyo. There is no such city with that name in my world. It's simply the Capital.

[He's gotten into several circular conversations with people about this.]

I guess the closest is the shrine. That's why I decided to volunteer there. I was raised in one. It's remarkably still very similar to those in my time.

[Something tradition is very good for.]
frostfist: (pic#16873256)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-07 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It may be a mundane conversation but he pays attention, eyes alight as he continues cleaning. The Outsiders gathered by LILITH might all be vastly different in temperament and history, but that's part of what makes them so fascinating to him. There's a lot he can learn from them just by listening, he's sure of that. ]

Does it make you miss home, by being somewhere that's similar but not?
the_fourteenth: (074)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-07 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's a good idea to let Raidou just talk at his own pace. He's not very good at it, and if you asked him outright what might be wrong, he'd clam right up and say he was fine. Even has he might try it now, too, that question has hit him harder than he expected. It makes him pause for just a moment in his cleaning.

Due to the circumstances right before his arrival, and how far removed in time he was, he was quite homesick.]

... I'd be lying if I said it has been easy to adjust. But I'm trying.
frostfist: (pic#16949957)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-09 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Hard to miss that small pause, and it prompts his frown to deepen out of concern. ]

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think this sort of thing should be easy to adjust to.

[ Being taken from home and being brought to a new place without any sort of warning, having their bodies tampered with and then being sent out to the front lines to fight without consent...it's the type of thing he would have instantly rebelled against if he had any sort of power—but of course he doesn't here. The risks of not following instructions here seem to outweigh the benefits. ]

Especially not for a kid like yourself. [ Wait, hang on— ] Not to say that you're incapable or anything, but you should be out there enjoying your time with your friends and family and not stuck here by yourself.
the_fourteenth: (125)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-11 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
No, you're correct. I know I'm not the only one with a similar issue.

[It made it a problem that was easier to talk about than the rest.

He doesn't exactly like being called a kid. Sure, he's 17, but he had very adult responsibilities back home. He knows how it looks to others, though. Most other people back home treated him as a normal high schooler, not knowing any better.]

My duties here are similar to those I had back home. I'm accustomed to more responsibility than this as I did most of my work alone. Or just my mentor and I.
frostfist: (pic#16873262)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-12 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's all well and good to be responsible, but— ]

Was it something you enjoyed?

[ If yes, then he supposes he can let it slide. It's not as though he had a typical childhood compared to most, and he's never been the type to assign wants and desires to others, at least not on purpose. There's a fine line between being supportive and overbearing, and he doesn't really want to lean too much into the latter. ]
the_fourteenth: (059)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-13 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
[That's a difficult question to answer, and he thinks it over. Work is work, after all, and he had to take his duties very seriously.]

I like being able to help and protect people. It involved much more investigation on my end as well, and I like to think I was good at that as well. Ah, so I suppose I did, yes.

[He feels awkward, all this conversation aimed at him. He gives Wriothesley a quick side glance.]

Did you do anything similar to this where you're from?
frostfist: (pic#16949970)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-14 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A reasonable enough answer, and if it's powered more by logic than strong emotion that's not necessarily a bad thing. Wanting to help and protect people certainly isn't a bad thing in his eyes. He smiles, small but genuine. ]

You really are a good kid, huh.

[ Wriothesley will take that conversational baton handed to him though and give Raidou a break from talking about himself. ]

You mean cleaning? Hah, just kidding. [ But speaking of cleaning, his cleaning cloth starts moving again. ] I did a lot of paperwork, mostly. Not a whole lot of fighting. Definitely nothing close to fighting anything like kaiju. But if it means keeping the people here safe...well, I can't really say no, can I?
the_fourteenth: (011)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-15 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[He looks away at that first comment, not being one good at receiving compliments, and focuses on the window cleaning.

The paperwork comment gets a bit of a head tilt from him though.]

Paperwork? Ah, I thought they only brought fighters here... Oh, not saying you can't. It's good to have a mix of skills and experiences in a situation like this. Tactics and organization are important too.
frostfist: (pic#16949963)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-23 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That earns a comfortable laugh from Wriothesley, who doesn't seem at all offended by the remark. ]

I did do a little fighting before that. [ More like 'a lot', but he's never been particularly comfortable handing out details of his personal life left and right. ] But I wouldn't say I'm anywhere near the level of some of the guys here. In fact, I'm a little worried I might get left behind.

[ Visions are nice and all, but it's not like he has any formal training when it comes to fighting giant monsters. ]
the_fourteenth: (111)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-25 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods lightly. Boy does he feel that.]

Ah, I know what you mean. You have magic though, yes? [He remembers from the sim.] I feel like things like that are going to be the biggest advantages against the kaiju.
frostfist: (pic#16870173)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-25 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[ Reflexively, he flexes the fingers of his free hand. ]

That's one word for it. But it won't always be useful in every fight. You saw that against the yuki-daruma.

[ Ice on ice isn't anywhere near as powerful as fire on ice. ]

I suppose that's what all the modifications are for though. If we ever feel like we need the extra boost.
the_fourteenth: (113)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-25 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... yes.

[Raidou is quiet for a moment, debating with himself whether to mention it. He also feels a little behind here, not having superpowers, or magic he can use here. Kaiju aren't demons so his sword's magic isn't effective, and he's without his demons to summon.

Ultimately he decides it's a good idea to talk about it, since the more people who know about it means the more people he can help.]

I recently got one. The healing modification. So, if you're ever in need, just let me know. Or anyone else who may need it.
frostfist: (pic#16949957)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-27 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh?

[ That's enough to get his attention, his eyebrows raising just a little in surprise. He barely knows Raidou outside of a scattered handful of conversations so it's not as though he can really say whether or not healing suits the kid, but it's certainly not a choice most young adults would make.

But Raidou seems the sensible sort, with a good head on his shoulders, and they definitely need healers and doctors as much as they need capable fighters. ]

How does it work?
the_fourteenth: (073)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-27 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's, ah, nanotechnology, yes? [He's making sure he has the correct word.] A surgical implant. All I have to do now is touch someone with a hand, and it works. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but ah, someone used it on me to heal me after the surgery.

[Without having his demons with healing spells, this was the next best thing. Even if it doesn't work very well on himself.]
frostfist: (pic#16780259)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-27 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh.

[ He nods along thoughtfully at the explanation, only a little surprised at the effiency of it all. They've got their implants sending instantaneous messages and announcements at all hours of the day, why not some sort of injection that allows a person to heal another with just a touch? ]

Sounds handy. I'll be sure to keep that in mind. [ Although: ] I take it if you use it too much it'll wear you out?

[ Wouldn't want that. ]
the_fourteenth: (129)

[personal profile] the_fourteenth 2024-02-28 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I've heard, yes. But it seems like a small price to pay for helping those who are injured.

[Translation: keep an eye on this kid post-kaiju battles because he's gonna working himself into a coma if you let him.]
frostfist: (pic#16873224)

[personal profile] frostfist 2024-02-28 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ HmmmMMMMM don't like the way that's phrased. ]

I'd say the people who care about you would find it a pretty big price to pay if you suddenly keeled over one day without explanation.

[ He's just going to assume that there are people here who worry and watch out for Raidou, because why wouldn't there be? There are some crazy people in LILITH, sure, but plenty of people with common sense and morals too. ]

Don't go overboard too much, alright?

[ Wriothesley Will Remember This for the next kaiju battle.... ]
