KAIJU FIGHT #2

KAIJU FIGHT #2

CONTENT WARNINGS: electrophobia, body horror, death/injury, gore, violence.

β–Ά 001. IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL

On the 1st of April, Outsiders will be rudely awakened by the sudden voice of Captain Yamakawa:

"Angels of Lilith. I require your immediate attention. Through your efforts at extracting information from our captives, and intel collected by our intelligence team, we have located the culprits who have stolen our specimens and are conducting illegal experiments. Your mission briefing will arrive shortly. Take caution, however. The Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is reporting strange abnormalities in their readings. We will look further into this. For now, stay sharp and be prepared."

The alarm will sound in the base, urging all Outsiders to suit up, bring their weapons and get ready for the mission. A location pin will then be downloaded into their implant, along with an associated mission briefing. The location will lead to an abandoned amusement park that might be familiar to some - Tokyo Disneyland. The brief will report that according to intel, there is an unauthorized research facility hidden within the premises. Outsiders are to locate it, storm it, and seize any lab specimens they can find.

To get to the theme park, characters will be able to take trains to the edge of Neo Tokyo where they can then be transported by armored trucks through what remains of old roads. Eventually, when the terrain becomes too destroyed and overgrown with brush, they’ll have to travel by foot the rest of the way. However, they will have to be careful because it looks like someone has laid out traps. Some of them are designed to capture animals but others are clearly booby traps meant to deter intruders.

From the outside, nothing looks out of the ordinary in this old park - there are classic attractions such as Cinderella’s castle, the Haunted Mansion, Alice’s Teacup ride, the Western River Railroad, and many, many more. While most of the rides are weathered down and no longer functional, there are plenty of old gift shops and carnival game booths with prizes to take home for free (if you don’t mind a really old Minnie Mouse doll).

LILITH was not able to pinpoint exactly where this secret laboratory is hidden within the enormous park, and it’s now up to the Outsiders to find it. All implants will be fitted with a heat-seeking function to allow Outsiders to detect anomalies within the park.

The first part of the mission is simple: Scour the rides and attractions and find the entrance.

Outsiders may encounter more booby traps while searching the park. Traps will range from making parts of attractions and buildings collapse on intruders to more elaborate and high-tech ones like electric fields or explosive traps. Players are more than welcome to come up with their own traps so long as it fits the setting.

β–Ά 002. BOO WHO?

Eventually, Outsiders will find themselves drawn to the Haunted Mansion, where there appear to be several abnormal signs of life. While the mansion would hardly have been scary to anyone but children several hundred years ago, centuries without any sort of maintenance have turned the place into a real nightmare. Pitch darkness, decrepit fake graves that look like they could be real ones, and the mysterious chatter of – is that a ghost? There are flickers of life within the old animatronics, and ever so often you might see a skeleton or zombie twitch. They might even take a swing at an unsuspecting Outsider.

The deeper into the mansion you travel, the more power it appears to have, until the Outsiders reach a door that appears to be heavily guarded by a group of humans holding vicious chimeras on a leash.

Once LILITH receives this intel, the next order is given: Storm the lab immediately!

β–Ά 003. LET'S GECK-GO!

As the Outsiders infiltrate the lab, the air buzzes with electricity and everyone's hair begins to stand on end not from fear but from the sheer amount of energy generated. There may be a lot of machines generating a lot of power and some of it may be spilling excess electricity into the air but this feels different. It feels more potent.

Suddenly, the park comes to life. Old generators buzz to life, staticky music begins to play on the worn out speakers, and the lights begin to flash. From the overgrowth surrounding the park, trees begin to topple over. It is obvious that something is approaching and whatever it is seems to have a lot of energy. From the trees, a giant, gecko-like creature emerges. The air around it sparks and each step it takes generates a wave of electricity that follows the many wires and systems laid out underground.

The energy at the park seems to be drawing the unknown kaiju towards the park and more geckos appear from the forests behind it. They move quickly through the park and climb over the buildings and attractions. When they see a hybrid or a person nearby, they will stun them with their electric fields and try to eat them. As they begin to swarm the park, they go into a feeding frenzy that infects the air around them. Rides begin to spin faster, the music grows louder, lights explode, and the more electricity and power the geckos absorb, the bigger they become when they shed their skins.

One gecko in particular grows faster than the others. This one will keep growing with no apparent end in sight and begins climbing over the highest rides until they topple under its weight. Outsiders will have to avoid collapsing rubble and climb over ruined attractions to take down this kaiju while also stopping the other geckos from growing to the same size.

After dealing with the gecko kaiju for some time without any information, a report will finally come in:
β–ˆ β–ˆ β–ˆ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: Yamadenki
HEIGHT: 3 metres- unknown (does not stop growing)
WEIGHT: 1,500-70,000 kg
CLASS: Dangerous
LOCATION: Kanto, Japan
ABILITIES: Stores electricity within its body. Uses static electricity to climb up and stick to objects. Can use electric shocks to stun and injure prey. The more energy they absorb, the bigger they grow. When close enough to a human, it kills them by biting into their flesh and absorbing the electrical currents within the cells, disrupting the heart rate and nervous system. It then eats the flesh.
WEAKNESS: Attacks to the head and body. Ice and extreme cold (they are cold blooded).
EXTRA NOTES: Can regrow appendages. Their severed appendages and bodies can retain electricity for an unknown amount of time so proceed with caution.

β–ˆ β–ˆ β–ˆ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
βœ– Cut off the supply of electricity at the park by disabling all generators
βœ– Bring back the Yamadenki (alive or dead) for research purposes
βœ– Bring back the hybrid specimens
βœ– Capture all suspicious persons for interrogation

β–ˆ β–ˆ β–ˆ ATTACHED PHOTO:

The Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.

β–Ά 004. A RIFT IN SPACE-TIME

"MAYDAY, MAYDAY! Unknown energy signal detected! Reaching maximum output! Our sensors are detecting a breach in the inter-dimensional fabric!"

An hour into battle, Outsiders will receive a sudden warning signal, urging them to complete their mission and eliminate the Yamadenki before it’s too late. All that concentrated energy generated at the park is being corrupted by the Yamadenki, and it’s not long before a rift bursts through from beneath the Haunted Mansion, causing a huge explosion and a rain of rubble and mysterious energy. It’s the first of its kind. A rift has never opened this close to Neo Tokyo!

Energy from the rift seems to affect anyone standing too close to it, transforming any unprotected human into a snarling, groaning, human-reptilian hybrid. These hybrids have electrical qualities similar to the Yamadenki and are just as ferocious. The plugsuits issued by LILITH should protect characters against any nasty transformations (unless there is some damage to them or they have taken them off), but exposure to the rift can still result in increased headaches, vertigo, irritability and impulsiveness.

The rift is growing larger by the minute, and from the other side of it - the growling of a number of unknown beasts can be heard. Even the higher ups within LILITH are anxious about this. The only way to stop the rift is to cut off its power supply.

"Angels of LILITH! We must act fast! Disable all generators and subdue the Kaiju before it’s too late!"

β–Ά 005. AFTERMATH.

As the Outsiders shut down generators and take down the Yamadenki, the rift shrinks in size until finally it closes. Everything at the park goes still now that there is no more power to run things. Some of the corrupted humans and hybrids still linger and will have to be taken down or captured but they are in weakened states now that the rift has closed.

Outsiders will be tasked with capturing the Rift-infected humans who will then be transported to LILITH base for treatment... if they can be treated, that is. Outsiders will also need to report for treatment. Characters may experience the lingering effects of the rift such as the vertigo, headaches, shorter tempers, and impulsive behavior. The LILITH medics aren’t sure what to do other than prescribing bed rest and maybe offering some medication for their headaches. The worst cases may be prescribed sedatives.

Normally, LILITH would order the Outsiders to retrieve specimens from the field but given the events that unfolded, they are told to standby until a special research unit can inspect the area for contamination and give the all clear.

β–Ά 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our second Kaiju log! As before, all prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, any characters suffering negative effects from the rift will recover within a week, though you are welcome to determine the severity of their symptoms during that time.

Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the largest gecko will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).

All tags in this log count for 2 reward points each. Ask any further questions below!

[The battle has been going on long enough that it's beginning to take a toll on Izuku when word comes through that they should go for the generators. It's enough to give him a bit of a second wind, as a clear path to victory opens up to them. It helps that he's already no stranger to pushing himself past his limits and stretching his abilities to the very brink. But determination isn't enough to disguise just how rough he's looking, with bruises forming across his face, a gash on his forehead sealed with dried blood, and a slight limp becoming increasingly visible in his movements.

But none of that is enough to stop him from laying down cover from above as they race towards the generator's location, a mass of geckos following in their wake. The force of his air blasts connecting with their heads and bodies is enough to stun and even destroy them with enough focused blasts, but it takes time and concentration, things that he's running short of. If only they had some...ice.

The ice machines lined up next to a nearby building come into his direct line of view and he makes a bee-line towards them. Even if they're not working, maybe they can use the geckos' electric attacks to restart them.]

Kacchan! The ice machines!

[He trusts that he doesn't need to explain any further.]

[There's a benefit to getting electrocuted in one fight more times than he's been electrocuted in his entire life: eventually the pain all goes numb. Bloody from wire traps cutting into him, bite marks from geckos, a stab and worse from those damn chimera pets guarding the laboratory, burns given by lightning bursts and explosions (not his own), general exhaustion from the repeated battling... fuck... His arms throb and his palms were threatening to kill him an hour ago. But now, everything's fallen into deadness, his body piloting on his will like he's simply issuing orders to marionette limbs. Move. They move. Feel. They don't.

That's fine. So long as they win. His feet hit the rooftop below, boots clunking one two three before launching off with another jump from his legs and bust from his hands. No longer trying to wipe out the never-ending swarm of geckos, their new quarry are the generators scattered around the theme park. Why the fuck wasn't this LILITH's initial suggestion? Does it take a genius to figure out cutting off their power source, food stuffs, attraction is a good way to end the swarm?

Katsuki's explosions swell once before erupting in another detonation, punching a hole in the wave of scales and teeth following them. Only a brief interlude before they replace themselves with more. Izuku suddenly calls out to him and he swings his heavy gaze towards the other hero.

Ice machines? His initial thought is "they aren't working!" before remembering the water guns at the carnival game. If that thing had water, then the ice machines would also have water. Biological experiments needed cold storage.]

Get it in the air! [No, Izuku doesn't need to say more. Katsuki's already moving into the plan.]

[He's already moving towards the ice machines, flinging multiple air blasts, one after the other, at the swarm of geckos closet to his destination. That buys him a few precious seconds once his feet hit the ground in front of the ice machines.

He wraps his arms around the machine and gives it a hard pull, ripping it away from the wall it stood against. In seconds he's back in the air, bear hugging the ice machine against his chest.

He notices then that the machine feels a bit heavy for something that should only have some probably dried up water in it. Something inside is rattling around.]

I think there's actual ice inside!

[How convenient for their current predicament.]

[Katsuki retreats behind another explosion, flinging himself backwards through the air and flipping feet over head to carpet bomb the entire group of buzzing, snapping lizards beneath him. Like a missile strike across a strip of land, bom-b-boom-bombboom! Dragging their attention away from Izuku.

That solid rip of metal and concrete is a hellish jolt, but Katsuki only looks to Izuku's presence when that bio-electric covered green bolt zips back into the air. Bear hugging a fucking ice machine like the weirdest koala.]

THERE WAS WATER IN THE GUNS AND YOU'RE SURPRISED ABOUT ICE IN THE MACHINES?!

[Granted it would've been surprising if they hadn't found the guns first, buuut... Katsuki flashes up beside Izuku, bouncing on another explosion.]

Throw it and get ready to fire at those bastards!

[Katsuki's going to break the machine open.]
heroforall: (cred_coronatae38)

[personal profile] heroforall 2024-04-11 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
[He really doesnt have a response to that. Look, the mixture of exhaustion coupled with blood loss is enough to lower anyone's brain function. And Izuku has already moved on to thinking about how the ice in particular can be used to their benefit under current circumstances. Once it's busted open, that is.

He doesn't hesitate to follow the other boy's instructions, shifting the machine away from his body until he's grasping it with just two hands. Spinning in a sharp circle midair, he gains enough momentum to send it shooting up above them.]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (πŸ’₯ Not enough to stop me.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-11 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's not expecting an answer for that. Just a follow through with the orders so they can waste some of these bastards before the lizards go after more of their allies. Katsuki flips in the air with another blast, eyes narrowing on Izuku's motions as the other hero grabs the machine proper and spins it once before pitching it higher into the air.

Never mind there's blood leaking into his eye, or that one of his eyes has gone red from broken blood vessels from a previous impact, or that his body's yelling about the pain of other wounds. Katsuki appears behind the machine one hand on his forearm, the other plastered to the back of the ice maker.]

DIIEEE!!

[And fires, ripping open the machine with another explosion and sending a literal hailstorm of ice spreading across the space below.]
heroforall: (cred_coronatae59)

[personal profile] heroforall 2024-04-17 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[The hail of ice instantly causes the hoards of lizards to begin to scatter below, seeking to avoid being hit with the cold objects. That's evidence enough of the ice's effectiveness. As they fall, Izuku grabs a handful of the ice and begins shooting multiple pieces towards the fleeing creatures below with the flick of his fingers. Where his air shots were mildly effective before, taking multiple shots to enact any lasting damage, the addition of the ice now makes them deadly to the creatures.

More space opens up around them as the lizards continue to scramble, and now may be the best chance they have to progress. More lizards are sure to follow eventually, but they might be able to make it to the generator before then.]

Let's keep moving! We can keep an eye out for more ice machines as we go.

[There have to be more littered throughout the park.]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (πŸ’₯ The struggles of a hero.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-18 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Leaving the ice barrage to Izuku is easy enough. Katsuki trusts his aim to find the ice in the air and continue barraging through it as the frozen cubes fall. It won't last too long though, forcing the other hero to use his speed to his best advantage. Katsuki has other things to focus on. While the lizards scramble and scatter, he blasts towards the nearest generator, now free of those damn things crawling all over it for another round of juice.

Hitting the ground on his feet, Katsuki takes a quick survey of the generator. As much as he'd love to just lay into it and demolish the thing, wanton collateral damage already got ingrained into his head thanks to Aizawa-sensei's criticism.

What matters now... is getting into the thick of the generator, gripping the handle, and then jerking the entire lever down. It resists him, a few snaps and pops of overloading electronics, but with one boot planted on the metal, he hauls back and the entire thing swings into "OFF" with a metallic clank! The telltale groaning whine of power running out permeates through the air around them, causing the attractions nearby to slow and lights to dim.

Katsuki swings around the generator, grabs the wires by the handful, and yanks back, ripping them from the socket connectors.]

[personal profile] heroforall 2024-04-18 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[While Bakugo is focused on the generator, Izuku keeps up his barrage of ice, chasing the lizards away as far as he can. Getting too far away from the generator would only open up a gap for the creatures to re-approach the machine, so Izuku is forced to toe the line by keeping a shorter perimeter around the generator clear.

It's only once the lights power down around him that he knows for sure that Bakugo has been successful in turning the generator off. Any lingering lizards quickly flee into the newly formed shadows as they realize their meal ticket has been disabled. But Izuku has no doubt that they'll be back as soon as they've recharged.

He loops around to the back of the generator to find his partner. He's panting hard, the exertion really making itself known as a numbness begins to settle into his arms, his hands. But they have to keep going.]

We're clear for now. But they'll be back.

[Now that they're not on the move, he's able to get a good look at the state Bakugo is in. It's not the first time they've been beaten up in battle. But that doesn't make it any easier to witness when there's no an enemy around to distract them from their wounds.]

How are you holding up, Kacchan?
blastedass: by muraragi-san @ reddit (πŸ’₯ Noble beast!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-21 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Katsuki snarls at one of the geckos that had been approaching the generator. But as the power dies down, the creatures retreat, pulling back into the darkness. No doubt with the intention of going after other generators and attractions that are still operational. They only managed to take out this one and the one before; their job isn't done by a long shot.

The rustle of grass and skid of gravel snaps his attention back and Katsuki swings his arm to the side, palm out and sparks bursting before he notices Izuku between the splay of his fingers. Clicking his tongue in annoyance, the blonde lowers his arm, foot kicking the clump of wires to the side so it won't be easy for anyone to shove them back in so readily.

Izuku doesn't look too bad for wear, though the rapid-fire shots from above and his previous tangle with the lizards can't be good for his energy right now. Katsuki looks to Izuku's hands, eyes taking shots from arm to face to legs, noting any potential damage indicators on his friend's figure.]

They won't be back to this section.

[Katsuki rubs at his shoulder before turning towards the rest of the amusement park. Izuku's concern makes him bristle, but he's too focused to really snap at him for the instinctive query on his state.]

I'm not dead yet.

[Because that's what's important. Right. He might be bleeding, burned, and worse, but he's still standing, moving, and fighting. Nothing else needs to matter.]

You ready to move on?
heroforall: (cred_coronatae118)

[personal profile] heroforall 2024-04-30 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Izuku doesn't miss a step in approaching, even when he realizes he's on the business end of Bakugo's gauntlet. But he trusts wholeheartedly that the blonde won't accidentally fire on him. The state he's in is far from the worst he's ever experienced. Some cuts and scrapes, blood drying along his forehead. His shoulders sag a little with the onset of exhaustion, like he can't quite hold himself completely upright.

But it's nothing that could stop him from continuing their mission. He's fought through broken bones, his body ravaged in multiple places. If the geckos want to take him out, they have a lot more work to do.

He accepts Bakugo's reply with a nod, knowing that that's the best answer he's going to get. They're similar in that they will both push themselves to the brink and still keep going. He can only hope that Bakugo will let him know if he reaches that point.]

Yeah. I'm ready. The next generator should be this way.

[With a light jump, he's back in the air.]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (πŸ’₯ Ready the grenades.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-30 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
[He's not going to waste the strength. Knowing Izuku was around at least helped keep him from straight up opening fire on him. Could've been a gecko... As the other hero approaches him, Katsuki instinctively scans him over, checking him for injuries and the state of his posture. Slumped shoulders, blood on his face, a few cuts visible through his costume. Izuku's obviously tired, but the look in his eyes says he's not about to collapse right now. There's more they can do.

Even if both of them look like they could use a fucking nap right now. Katsuki knows Izuku can endure a lot, and he's not any less durable in the stamina department either. Pushing through pain, injury, and worse. No shitty lizard's going to take them out.

Katsuki has zero intention of reaching that point before Izuku. If the other boy's going, he's going too. End of story. Arms behind him, he ignites another round of explosions, leaping after Izuku with a blast. It may get the geckos' attention, but with all the cacophony of war going around... maybe not.]

This place has too many self-contained generators. There's no single switch to kill them all.
