KAIJU FIGHT #2
KAIJU FIGHT #2
βΆ 001. IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
On the 1st of April, Outsiders will be rudely awakened by the sudden voice of Captain Yamakawa:

The alarm will sound in the base, urging all Outsiders to suit up, bring their weapons and get ready for the mission. A location pin will then be downloaded into their implant, along with an associated mission briefing. The location will lead to an abandoned amusement park that might be familiar to some - Tokyo Disneyland. The brief will report that according to intel, there is an unauthorized research facility hidden within the premises. Outsiders are to locate it, storm it, and seize any lab specimens they can find.
To get to the theme park, characters will be able to take trains to the edge of Neo Tokyo where they can then be transported by armored trucks through what remains of old roads. Eventually, when the terrain becomes too destroyed and overgrown with brush, theyβll have to travel by foot the rest of the way. However, they will have to be careful because it looks like someone has laid out traps. Some of them are designed to capture animals but others are clearly booby traps meant to deter intruders.
From the outside, nothing looks out of the ordinary in this old park - there are classic attractions such as Cinderellaβs castle, the Haunted Mansion, Aliceβs Teacup ride, the Western River Railroad, and many, many more. While most of the rides are weathered down and no longer functional, there are plenty of old gift shops and carnival game booths with prizes to take home for free (if you donβt mind a really old Minnie Mouse doll).
LILITH was not able to pinpoint exactly where this secret laboratory is hidden within the enormous park, and itβs now up to the Outsiders to find it. All implants will be fitted with a heat-seeking function to allow Outsiders to detect anomalies within the park.
The first part of the mission is simple: Scour the rides and attractions and find the entrance.
Outsiders may encounter more booby traps while searching the park. Traps will range from making parts of attractions and buildings collapse on intruders to more elaborate and high-tech ones like electric fields or explosive traps. Players are more than welcome to come up with their own traps so long as it fits the setting.
"Angels of Lilith. I require your immediate attention. Through your efforts at extracting information from our captives, and intel collected by our intelligence team, we have located the culprits who have stolen our specimens and are conducting illegal experiments. Your mission briefing will arrive shortly. Take caution, however. The Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is reporting strange abnormalities in their readings. We will look further into this. For now, stay sharp and be prepared."

βΆ 002. BOO WHO?
Eventually, Outsiders will find themselves drawn to the Haunted Mansion, where there appear to be several abnormal signs of life. While the mansion would hardly have been scary to anyone but children several hundred years ago, centuries without any sort of maintenance have turned the place into a real nightmare. Pitch darkness, decrepit fake graves that look like they could be real ones, and the mysterious chatter of β is that a ghost? There are flickers of life within the old animatronics, and ever so often you might see a skeleton or zombie twitch. They might even take a swing at an unsuspecting Outsider.
The deeper into the mansion you travel, the more power it appears to have, until the Outsiders reach a door that appears to be heavily guarded by a group of humans holding vicious chimeras on a leash.
Once LILITH receives this intel, the next order is given: Storm the lab immediately!

βΆ 003. LET'S GECK-GO!
As the Outsiders infiltrate the lab, the air buzzes with electricity and everyone's hair begins to stand on end not from fear but from the sheer amount of energy generated. There may be a lot of machines generating a lot of power and some of it may be spilling excess electricity into the air but this feels different. It feels more potent.
Suddenly, the park comes to life. Old generators buzz to life, staticky music begins to play on the worn out speakers, and the lights begin to flash. From the overgrowth surrounding the park, trees begin to topple over. It is obvious that something is approaching and whatever it is seems to have a lot of energy. From the trees, a giant, gecko-like creature emerges. The air around it sparks and each step it takes generates a wave of electricity that follows the many wires and systems laid out underground.
The energy at the park seems to be drawing the unknown kaiju towards the park and more geckos appear from the forests behind it. They move quickly through the park and climb over the buildings and attractions. When they see a hybrid or a person nearby, they will stun them with their electric fields and try to eat them. As they begin to swarm the park, they go into a feeding frenzy that infects the air around them. Rides begin to spin faster, the music grows louder, lights explode, and the more electricity and power the geckos absorb, the bigger they become when they shed their skins.
One gecko in particular grows faster than the others. This one will keep growing with no apparent end in sight and begins climbing over the highest rides until they topple under its weight. Outsiders will have to avoid collapsing rubble and climb over ruined attractions to take down this kaiju while also stopping the other geckos from growing to the same size.
After dealing with the gecko kaiju for some time without any information, a report will finally come in:

β β β MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEETThe Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.
NAME: Yamadenki
HEIGHT: 3 metres- unknown (does not stop growing)
WEIGHT: 1,500-70,000 kg
CLASS: Dangerous
LOCATION: Kanto, Japan
ABILITIES: Stores electricity within its body. Uses static electricity to climb up and stick to objects. Can use electric shocks to stun and injure prey. The more energy they absorb, the bigger they grow. When close enough to a human, it kills them by biting into their flesh and absorbing the electrical currents within the cells, disrupting the heart rate and nervous system. It then eats the flesh.
WEAKNESS: Attacks to the head and body. Ice and extreme cold (they are cold blooded).
EXTRA NOTES: Can regrow appendages. Their severed appendages and bodies can retain electricity for an unknown amount of time so proceed with caution.
β β β MISSION OBJECTIVE:
β Cut off the supply of electricity at the park by disabling all generators
β Bring back the Yamadenki (alive or dead) for research purposes
β Bring back the hybrid specimens
β Capture all suspicious persons for interrogation

βΆ 004. A RIFT IN SPACE-TIME
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY! Unknown energy signal detected! Reaching maximum output! Our sensors are detecting a breach in the inter-dimensional fabric!"
An hour into battle, Outsiders will receive a sudden warning signal, urging them to complete their mission and eliminate the Yamadenki before itβs too late. All that concentrated energy generated at the park is being corrupted by the Yamadenki, and itβs not long before a rift bursts through from beneath the Haunted Mansion, causing a huge explosion and a rain of rubble and mysterious energy. Itβs the first of its kind. A rift has never opened this close to Neo Tokyo!
Energy from the rift seems to affect anyone standing too close to it, transforming any unprotected human into a snarling, groaning, human-reptilian hybrid. These hybrids have electrical qualities similar to the Yamadenki and are just as ferocious. The plugsuits issued by LILITH should protect characters against any nasty transformations (unless there is some damage to them or they have taken them off), but exposure to the rift can still result in increased headaches, vertigo, irritability and impulsiveness.
The rift is growing larger by the minute, and from the other side of it - the growling of a number of unknown beasts can be heard. Even the higher ups within LILITH are anxious about this. The only way to stop the rift is to cut off its power supply.

"Angels of LILITH! We must act fast! Disable all generators and subdue the Kaiju before itβs too late!"
βΆ 005. AFTERMATH.
As the Outsiders shut down generators and take down the Yamadenki, the rift shrinks in size until finally it closes. Everything at the park goes still now that there is no more power to run things. Some of the corrupted humans and hybrids still linger and will have to be taken down or captured but they are in weakened states now that the rift has closed.
Outsiders will be tasked with capturing the Rift-infected humans who will then be transported to LILITH base for treatment... if they can be treated, that is. Outsiders will also need to report for treatment. Characters may experience the lingering effects of the rift such as the vertigo, headaches, shorter tempers, and impulsive behavior. The LILITH medics arenβt sure what to do other than prescribing bed rest and maybe offering some medication for their headaches. The worst cases may be prescribed sedatives.
Normally, LILITH would order the Outsiders to retrieve specimens from the field but given the events that unfolded, they are told to standby until a special research unit can inspect the area for contamination and give the all clear.

βΆ 006. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our second Kaiju log! As before, all prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, any characters suffering negative effects from the rift will recover within a week, though you are welcome to determine the severity of their symptoms during that time.
Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the largest gecko will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).
All tags in this log count for 2 reward points each. Ask any further questions below!

[Being stealthy here felt like the better option, especially with their new heat-seeking upgrades.]
We can watch the perimeter and disarm traps while the others find the entrance. In case no one else thought to do that.
[As there have been a lot of traps, and many people ready and willing to storm the hideout, wherever it might be. That is, when they weren't being distracted by ancient theme park rides and shops.
Raidou keeps vigil while Bakugo follows the trap wire. It leads to the nearest abandoned kioski, explosives hidden inside that would have caused a lot of shrapnel damage if set off.]
Can you disarm it?
no subject
He clicks his tongue at the idea of playing vanguard while someone else gets the glory of locating the lab entrance. With the number of Outsiders spreading through the theme park, it's only a matter of time before someone finds it.
Avoiding any tug on the wire, Bakugo crouches down and inspects the explosives and surrounding shrapnel, adding to the kioski shell itself. Would've been grisly if set off.]
It's not armed. Asshole over there probably didn't want to risk blowing himself up while setting the trip wire. [Most traps get armed after everything's set up, after which the saboteur skulks off into the night.] Search him for tools.
no subject
[Easy to disassemble, then. One less thing for them to worry about injuring or killing someone.
He will do as instructed, checking the many pockets on the trap setter, who seems well equipped for the job. He's hiding several tools in his jacket and cargo pockets, which Raidou collects and brings over to Bakugo at the kiosk. Snippers, wrench, screwdriver, pocket knife. After that he takes the gun, takes the bullet out of the chamber and puts the weapon in a back pocket. Nothing wrong with having a backup.]
I'll keep an eye out. Let me check to see if there are any others nearby.
no subject
Keep your flashlight or your ocular shine down. It should catch on trip wires. [If there are other traps, Raidou obviously runs tripping one just looking for them, but they don't have another option.
Or they did, but that option's knocked out.]
no subject
Raidou looks over the nearby teacups ride on his way back over to Bakugo.]
Have you ever been to a place like this before? It must've been something in its heyday. It seems... huge.
[The place seems to go on forever. He's certainly never seen anything like it before. In his time, rides were just starting to emerge.]
no subject
Once or twice. My parents took me to Tokyo Disneyland when I was young.
[The size of it is no joke. Some people compare the theme park to a small county all on its own, nestled within the city. Bakugo looks at the knocked-out man and then back to the disassembled explosive.]
Lets tie that bastard up for the authorities.
no subject
Their new hostage is showing signs of waking, though, stirring a little when touched, so Raidou hurries with the wires.]
Let him wake up, or knock him back out?
[Hey, he asked this time. See, teamwork!]
no subject
Meaning that when he notices the man waking, he's irked that he took the bomb apart. SO! He starts putting it back together.]
Let him wake back up. We'll interrogate him and then knock him out again if he's gonna be a bastard about it.
no subject
Raidou shakes the man awake, who's pretty groggy from the hit to his head. He struggles against the ties and asks who they were and what they planned to do with him.
Raidou only answers in his usual even, flat tone.]
Answer our questions and this will go easy.
no subject
He may or may not be proud of himself for that. Raidou doens't need to know, right?
Bakugo finishes up with the bomb, though the timer's been removed and now is rigged purely to the tripwire he's holding. If the man is smart, unfortunately he'll probably see through Bakugo's bluff, but here's hoping.]
Or keep your mouth shut and we'll test your fucking booby trap out on you.
[He turns around, holding the bomb in one hand and the wire in the other.]
We know you're bosses have a base in this park. Spit it out.
no subject
While he might not be big or imposing physically, Raidou does have one withering stare when he wants to. A cold, piercing stare with those ice gray eyes; peering at the man from under his hat brim with his hand on his sword usually helps with this intimidation factor.
At first, the guy isn't too threatened by two teenagers, but, this kid does have his explosive and he knows what that can do. He nervously taunts them, empty bravado in the form of him asking what two kids like them think they're going to be able to do.
Raidou simply keeps that cold gaze fixed on him, and takes a few steps forward.]
no subject
Bakugo's not going to knock Raidou's gaze. The man has hawks eyes and he's seen weaker people crack under a look like that. They belie the summoner's experiences and skill despite his age. Made all the more dire with one of them blocked off, as if two would be overkill for someone caught in their snare.
Did you really need the hand-on-the-sword addition? Well Bakugo's getting ready to throw a bomb on the guy's lap, so he's not one to talk about overkill. The hero's eyes narrow at the taunting question and he approaches alongside Raidou, tossing the bomb up and down a few times.]
Sate... [Well now, what did they think they could do indeed? Not fond of being called a kid either.] Cut off his thumb. First. You'll keep losing fingers the longer you make us wait.
[He's not going to actually let Raidou cut off a thumb, but...]
no subject
Raidou pops out the sword with a thumb from the sheath, and the man decides his loyalty to this endeavor isn't worth a thumb, or any of his digits for that matter. He's just hired help.
He mentions the Haunted Mansion as he struggles. Raidou looks to Bakugo for only a moment, hand still on his sword.]
You believe him?
no subject
Doesn't say it but definitely thinks "Cool" when Raidou does that badass thumb sword pop. Bakugo likes shit like that. Unfortunately they just get another hired help. Tch, his fucking luck.]
Yeah. One of his partners spilled shit even faster. That's why we're here.
[He saw how the man he interrogated with Denji cracked eventually, wrung out until he knew nothing else. It was telling when a hired goon found his well being worth more than his pay.]
Knock him out again.
no subject
Raidou sighs lightly.]
One less out here setting traps, I suppose. You've talked to others?
no subject
Not here. One of the customers in the hybrid black market sale. He gave out a lot of names and contacts after Ripcord Chest crushed his nuts.
[Nothing directly linking to important people, but enough to give a wider net to shake some more. But this bomber didn't need to know that detail.]
Oy, show me how you did the KO.
[He's learned swordplay from Raidou, but this technique is new.]
no subject
Here. Right in the middle. Have to hit them pretty hard. [A beat, then he adds:] He's going to have quite the bruise tomorrow.
[Also, back up a second.] "Ripcord Chest"?
no subject
Are you cutting off the jugular?
[This is curiosity talking. And yeah, a bruise is to be expected. Bakugo's gonna tie the (disarmed) bomb to the man's chest, then draw the wire off into the darkness and make it taut.
There. That should keep him from moving if he wakes up before the other soldiers get here.]
Denji.
no subject
[Could be either, with that area of the body.
"Rip cord" isn't a phrase Raidou's come across, and he's trying hard to parse this nickname in his head. Meanwhile, he's going to haul this guy off the ground. Raidou might not be big, but he's strong.]
Ah. Why do you call him that?
no subject
Bakugo heads for the Haunted House, pulling up the map of the place to locate it. Or that's the intent, before Raidou picks the guy up.] Why're you bringing that trash along?
[He wanted to leave him for the cops.]
no subject
[He had no idea. Well Denji did tell him he's part devil, is it some strange trait of that?]
What if someone finds him and frees him?
[They could drop him off with LILITH if nothing else?]
no subject
It's how he transforms into Chainsaw Man and rejuvenates his injures. Get blood in his mouth and yank the cord.
[If Raidou ever comes across the half-devil splattered across the road, Bakugo would rather he knows how to revive him.]
We've got another team coming behind us. They can make the arrest.
[Bakugo votes for tying him up and leaving him somewhere. Otherwise they'll get slowed down.]
no subject
Time to talk to Denji when he gets the chance.
As far as their captive, Raidou shrugs. He supposes they really do have other things they could be investigating. So instead of carrying him along, Raidou plops him to the middle of the pathway, so he'll be well seen by anyone else coming along.]
no subject
Not surprise, because Bakugo thinks Raidou's Seen Some Shit.
If Denji has an issue with Bakugo talking about his devil powers, he's free to bitch at Bakugo for it later. It's not like Bakugo would take kindly to someone talking about his Quirk's weakness to others...
Good choice for dropping the captive. Bad choice because as soon as the guy's plopped down, something goes 'chk!' beneath him and Bakugo dashes forward. WHAM! Tackles Raidou out of the way just as the stall beside them spits out a horde of needles across the pathway.
Like a fucking ninja trap.]
no subject
[A more sophisticated trap, one more time-consuming to install, was not the kind Raidou was expecting. He barely has the time to register the click before Bakugo barrels at him at top speed, knocking the skinny little summoner right off his feet.
He recovers quickly though, sitting up and looking at Bakugo wide-eyed.]
Are you-- Sorry, I didn't-- They didn't hit you did they?
[He wasn't sure how the timing of that all played out. He scrambles to his feet, not keeping a better eye on where he's stepping.]
