KAIJU FIGHT #2
KAIJU FIGHT #2
▶ 001. IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
On the 1st of April, Outsiders will be rudely awakened by the sudden voice of Captain Yamakawa:

The alarm will sound in the base, urging all Outsiders to suit up, bring their weapons and get ready for the mission. A location pin will then be downloaded into their implant, along with an associated mission briefing. The location will lead to an abandoned amusement park that might be familiar to some - Tokyo Disneyland. The brief will report that according to intel, there is an unauthorized research facility hidden within the premises. Outsiders are to locate it, storm it, and seize any lab specimens they can find.
To get to the theme park, characters will be able to take trains to the edge of Neo Tokyo where they can then be transported by armored trucks through what remains of old roads. Eventually, when the terrain becomes too destroyed and overgrown with brush, they’ll have to travel by foot the rest of the way. However, they will have to be careful because it looks like someone has laid out traps. Some of them are designed to capture animals but others are clearly booby traps meant to deter intruders.
From the outside, nothing looks out of the ordinary in this old park - there are classic attractions such as Cinderella’s castle, the Haunted Mansion, Alice’s Teacup ride, the Western River Railroad, and many, many more. While most of the rides are weathered down and no longer functional, there are plenty of old gift shops and carnival game booths with prizes to take home for free (if you don’t mind a really old Minnie Mouse doll).
LILITH was not able to pinpoint exactly where this secret laboratory is hidden within the enormous park, and it’s now up to the Outsiders to find it. All implants will be fitted with a heat-seeking function to allow Outsiders to detect anomalies within the park.
The first part of the mission is simple: Scour the rides and attractions and find the entrance.
Outsiders may encounter more booby traps while searching the park. Traps will range from making parts of attractions and buildings collapse on intruders to more elaborate and high-tech ones like electric fields or explosive traps. Players are more than welcome to come up with their own traps so long as it fits the setting.
"Angels of Lilith. I require your immediate attention. Through your efforts at extracting information from our captives, and intel collected by our intelligence team, we have located the culprits who have stolen our specimens and are conducting illegal experiments. Your mission briefing will arrive shortly. Take caution, however. The Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is reporting strange abnormalities in their readings. We will look further into this. For now, stay sharp and be prepared."

▶ 002. BOO WHO?
Eventually, Outsiders will find themselves drawn to the Haunted Mansion, where there appear to be several abnormal signs of life. While the mansion would hardly have been scary to anyone but children several hundred years ago, centuries without any sort of maintenance have turned the place into a real nightmare. Pitch darkness, decrepit fake graves that look like they could be real ones, and the mysterious chatter of – is that a ghost? There are flickers of life within the old animatronics, and ever so often you might see a skeleton or zombie twitch. They might even take a swing at an unsuspecting Outsider.
The deeper into the mansion you travel, the more power it appears to have, until the Outsiders reach a door that appears to be heavily guarded by a group of humans holding vicious chimeras on a leash.
Once LILITH receives this intel, the next order is given: Storm the lab immediately!

▶ 003. LET'S GECK-GO!
As the Outsiders infiltrate the lab, the air buzzes with electricity and everyone's hair begins to stand on end not from fear but from the sheer amount of energy generated. There may be a lot of machines generating a lot of power and some of it may be spilling excess electricity into the air but this feels different. It feels more potent.
Suddenly, the park comes to life. Old generators buzz to life, staticky music begins to play on the worn out speakers, and the lights begin to flash. From the overgrowth surrounding the park, trees begin to topple over. It is obvious that something is approaching and whatever it is seems to have a lot of energy. From the trees, a giant, gecko-like creature emerges. The air around it sparks and each step it takes generates a wave of electricity that follows the many wires and systems laid out underground.
The energy at the park seems to be drawing the unknown kaiju towards the park and more geckos appear from the forests behind it. They move quickly through the park and climb over the buildings and attractions. When they see a hybrid or a person nearby, they will stun them with their electric fields and try to eat them. As they begin to swarm the park, they go into a feeding frenzy that infects the air around them. Rides begin to spin faster, the music grows louder, lights explode, and the more electricity and power the geckos absorb, the bigger they become when they shed their skins.
One gecko in particular grows faster than the others. This one will keep growing with no apparent end in sight and begins climbing over the highest rides until they topple under its weight. Outsiders will have to avoid collapsing rubble and climb over ruined attractions to take down this kaiju while also stopping the other geckos from growing to the same size.
After dealing with the gecko kaiju for some time without any information, a report will finally come in:

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEETThe Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.
NAME: Yamadenki
HEIGHT: 3 metres- unknown (does not stop growing)
WEIGHT: 1,500-70,000 kg
CLASS: Dangerous
LOCATION: Kanto, Japan
ABILITIES: Stores electricity within its body. Uses static electricity to climb up and stick to objects. Can use electric shocks to stun and injure prey. The more energy they absorb, the bigger they grow. When close enough to a human, it kills them by biting into their flesh and absorbing the electrical currents within the cells, disrupting the heart rate and nervous system. It then eats the flesh.
WEAKNESS: Attacks to the head and body. Ice and extreme cold (they are cold blooded).
EXTRA NOTES: Can regrow appendages. Their severed appendages and bodies can retain electricity for an unknown amount of time so proceed with caution.
█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Cut off the supply of electricity at the park by disabling all generators
✖ Bring back the Yamadenki (alive or dead) for research purposes
✖ Bring back the hybrid specimens
✖ Capture all suspicious persons for interrogation

▶ 004. A RIFT IN SPACE-TIME
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY! Unknown energy signal detected! Reaching maximum output! Our sensors are detecting a breach in the inter-dimensional fabric!"
An hour into battle, Outsiders will receive a sudden warning signal, urging them to complete their mission and eliminate the Yamadenki before it’s too late. All that concentrated energy generated at the park is being corrupted by the Yamadenki, and it’s not long before a rift bursts through from beneath the Haunted Mansion, causing a huge explosion and a rain of rubble and mysterious energy. It’s the first of its kind. A rift has never opened this close to Neo Tokyo!
Energy from the rift seems to affect anyone standing too close to it, transforming any unprotected human into a snarling, groaning, human-reptilian hybrid. These hybrids have electrical qualities similar to the Yamadenki and are just as ferocious. The plugsuits issued by LILITH should protect characters against any nasty transformations (unless there is some damage to them or they have taken them off), but exposure to the rift can still result in increased headaches, vertigo, irritability and impulsiveness.
The rift is growing larger by the minute, and from the other side of it - the growling of a number of unknown beasts can be heard. Even the higher ups within LILITH are anxious about this. The only way to stop the rift is to cut off its power supply.

▶ 005. AFTERMATH.
As the Outsiders shut down generators and take down the Yamadenki, the rift shrinks in size until finally it closes. Everything at the park goes still now that there is no more power to run things. Some of the corrupted humans and hybrids still linger and will have to be taken down or captured but they are in weakened states now that the rift has closed.
Outsiders will be tasked with capturing the Rift-infected humans who will then be transported to LILITH base for treatment... if they can be treated, that is. Outsiders will also need to report for treatment. Characters may experience the lingering effects of the rift such as the vertigo, headaches, shorter tempers, and impulsive behavior. The LILITH medics aren’t sure what to do other than prescribing bed rest and maybe offering some medication for their headaches. The worst cases may be prescribed sedatives.
Normally, LILITH would order the Outsiders to retrieve specimens from the field but given the events that unfolded, they are told to standby until a special research unit can inspect the area for contamination and give the all clear.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our second Kaiju log! As before, all prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, any characters suffering negative effects from the rift will recover within a week, though you are welcome to determine the severity of their symptoms during that time.
Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the largest gecko will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).
All tags in this log count for 2 reward points each. Ask any further questions below!

003; GECKOS...
no subject
He turns around, pointing a spear at the beast's mouth as he backs into Minnie's House, where Maura the roomba waits, quivering on the path. Before him, he sees Choso leap into action, a flash of red, and fallen geckos.
Then, a red wave of water approaches him. No...that's blood. That smells like blood. Taryon turns around, cradles the roomba in his arms, and holds it to his chest as the bloody deluge knocks him to his knees. It thankfully doesn't soak into his plugsuit, but it spatters over his hair. When the current lessens, he gets on his feet and swivels around to see a world of stained cobblestones, drowned kaiju, and Choso standing in the epicenter of the disaster.]
...
[He opens his mouth as if to say something. Whatever thought he could possibly express wouldn't be heard across that distance, anyway, but he's staring horrified at this boy.]
no subject
It’s dangerous this way. Go back.
[ While he pitches his voice to be heard, the sweep of his arm illustrates well enough that this is a roomba-unfriendly zone: the blood poured out over the ground lifts, it rises out of the trampled dust like an image of rainfall reversed, seeps impossibly out of the sand and dirt to slither back up into the gathered maelstrom hanging over Choso’s head like an awful dripping omen.
Perhaps the worst part of this shooing-away is the sudden removal of the blood currently plastered over Mr. Darrington and his little friend: all the blood on them, all of it peels away from them as if it were a sticker, a wet sheet to be tugged aside, no harm done sirrah, none indeed. ]
no subject
Or that could be all. Choso tells him to leave, so he will. Taryon ducks and runs out of the entrance, pausing to stare at the immense amount of bloody magic hovering over the other man.]
Whose...blood...is that? [It can't be Choso's. Is it the geckos'? Taryon touches his neck with a gloved hand, but he doesn't feel any wounds there.]
no subject
he is not, however, so good a guy as to not use his considerable intimidation score to herd strange little fancy men and their robots out of dangerous areas. ]
Mine.
[ all of it, it seems. oh, dear. ]
no subject
And since they have monsters to fight, Taryon thinks this is his cue to get the hell out of here. He sidesteps towards the road out of Toon Town and bows lightly.]
I will leave you to your business. Take care.
wildcard!
it's fine though. he can try to scale back the damage dealt by his techniques, fine tune them so that they won't severely impact the surrounding area.
but the strangest feeling begins to tug at him as he concentrates a singular red orb above his finger — something isn't right. the flicker of hesitation on his end is just enough time for the yamadenki to lash out at him. it might have been successful too (or at least as successful as it could have been against his infinity), if it wasn't for a powerful surge of blood shot forth from a cursed entity. look who just invited himself to the tango~
without glancing his way, gojo releases his red technique on the rapidly growing fiend, blasting it back across the park to be someone else's problem for the moment. ]
Did you miss, Oniichan~? [ he's joking. kinda. ]
no subject
[ the joke soars majestically over choso’s messy-ass buns to vanish into the swirling maelstrom of blood churning overhead. every beat, a little of the mass darts out like a harpoon here and there, presumably at some reptilian irritant not worth choso’s immediate attention. ]
Is it your eyes going already, or something else?
no subject
Do you want to test it out?
[ he is closing that short distance between them now, ignoring all of the smaller geckos flinging themselves their way. almost comically, they seem to bounce off of him in all direction, his infinity preventing them from colliding against him. ]
We never had our turn in Shibuya.
no subject
they never really did have their turn; mahito's train changed priorities, among other things(people)
this would be as good a time as any to beat a hasty retreat, but choso doesn't. doesn't move, doesn't quail, doesn't let himself skitter away like the coward in his skin wants to; he'd lost that right in shibuya's guts. so he flexes his hands, makes them hang empty at his sides while his pulse flutters with adrenaline, an aborted fight-or-flight, head pulled up like he must hold himself there, must meet Gojo's chilling eye no matter what. ]
We never did. It wouldn't have been a long one.
no subject
it's the only reason why he's still alive. otherwise, gojo would have happily killed him on sight. shibuya stays fresh in his memories. even if choso wasn't as active of a participant, he has earned his place right next to volcano head and sprig eyes.
gojo can show him mercy for yuji's sake — the boy has faced enough loss; but his mercy should not be mistaken for a clean slate.
he has never been known for possessing a forgiving nature.
so, don't lose that wariness or forget who's standing before you, curse. he likes the fear permeating off of him; he approves of it. in this inconsequential space between them, disregarding whatever limits have been forced upon him, he remains the predator, one who has just devastatingly realized that he has been staved of his aspirations and left to rot away with an insatiable hunger. a better person would know not to take it out on a helping hand, but could the same be said for a god? ]
You held yourself well when your opponents were humans. Should I show you the same courtesy as you did them?
no subject
Yes.
[ heads like seed pods in the summer, bodies like paper tearing under the impossible pressure of senketsu. ]
It would only be just.
no subject
[ he closes that insignificant gap between them in an instant, an icy blue pair of eyes lowering down to meet its opposition from behind his sunglasses. it would be so wondrously effortless to smash his face into the pavement right now, but his arms remain loosely at his side.
—and then he smiles an easygoing smile. ]
Unfortunately for the both of us, I made a promise to Yuji, so as a courtesy to him, I'll say this once. [ he sets his hand on the dwp's shoulder, an outwardly friendly gesture, as he leans down to whisper in his ear. ] Let's get along well from now on, oniichan. We can start with you stayin' out of my sight today. [ he isn't in a good mood. straightening back up, he produces a torn minnie headband, fixing it on top of choso's head. ]
And next time, if you're really serious 'bout me squashin' you like a bug, then try not to be so boring about it. You were kinda killin' the vibe, y'know? It ain't worth my time if you're just gonna take it.
(no subject)
003b
Spiky hair and pigtails. Marcille watches one of them fall apart as Choso's body descends from his shattered shield. It's utterly silent in the seconds before he and everything around him hits the ground. Then the beam spears into the ground and collapses, debris shatters and sends out a wave of swirling dust. That bubble of blood—she knows it's blood, she's seen it so many times by now—finally breaks and rains horrifically around the scene.
Ambrosia falls into the crook of Marcille's elbow as she covers her mouth with both hands. She stares in shock, eyes wide, heart beating up into her throat.
Muffled: ]
No, no, no...!
[ Marcille pivots, skids, trips, hits the ground with the heel of her hand before sprinting towards the site of Choso's fall.
She maneuvers hurriedly over and through the debris, destroying larger pieces of broken buildings with explosions as she follows the blood beneath her feet. By the time she reaches Choso, her hands are aching, her hair has nearly fallen out of its ponytail, and there's a light caking of dust over patches of her face and hair and plugsuit.
She coughs and waves more dust out of the way before she finally sees him lying there, red pooling from his head. ]
Choso!
[ She says it to get some kind of reaction, anything that says he's breathing, even a gurgling in his throat. She drops to his side, wherever he is, staff gripped in one hand as the other presses against his chest. She lays her ear over the left side of it, trying to listen for a heartbeat through her own rapid breathing.
Calm. She has to be calm. If he's still alive, she has to act without thinking before it's too late. ]
no subject
the irony, ha, the irony of it is that the power wasn't the issue. he wouldn't bleed out, necessarily, but stopping his own bleeding needed focus, needed some semblance of control that evaded choso's grasp in searing black and white; the black was in him, a darkness threaded through his body in every vein and artery, every capillary, like the lights of a vast network shut off all at once. the white was in his head, a pure and ringing agony like a high note struck on a tuning fork and for all the power available to him in his own blood, in Raidou's precious pact, choso can't touch a scrap of it, can't fathom even how to in the incandescent agony that lives curled around the shocked meat in his skull like a tiny yamadenki snuck in to fuck him up specifically.
somewhere outside of the lead weight of this unyielding pain, he hears someone say his name. ]
Here!
[ is what he tries to say, but what really comes out is a gurgle, thick with blood, a breathless and airless thing that can barely be called a moan on a good day.
this is way too much blood for one dude. ]
no subject
But he squeezed it out. He's breathing. She sits up fast enough that it almost makes her dizzy. Balancing herself again on her staff, Marcille lays her hand over Choso's forehead, her palm just grazing his skin. She closes her eyes and focuses intently past the sounds of the raging battle around them. The crash obliterated any creatures in close quarters to them as far as she could tell. They were safe. Or, even if they weren't, all she needs is a few moments...
She won't panic or worry. This isn't the Dungeon, but she's done this so many times by now. She's going to think of nothing but the elements of the skull: the fracture in Choso's frontal bone, the parietal, the occipital, the damaged muscle and ligaments and nerves all braiding and smoothing themselves together again. ]
Tronsom Lunaae Stantinus Eurekant Oonzu...
[ She chants under her breath, her voice even and practiced. Around them, if possible, Choso's blood begins to gather inward, threading towards his body, sucked back in by an invisible force.
Yes, the healing pains will still hurt. But this spell is quick, efficient, and very good. Anything is better than him bleeding to death. ]
no subject
that somehow comes wound in her voice, twined through each strange syllable, it comes burned into an incandescent burst of colour behind his eyelids. marcille's magic spans the chasm between choso and his blood's technique, rebuilds him in pieces and for the first time since his conception, he feels the rush of his blood beyond the grasp of his own control, feels it dancing to the tune of another's bidding in its hurry to knit flesh and bone back together.
then comes the agony, white-hot and, truly, beyond anything he's ever imagined before in his very short life.
choso jackknifes up (watch your head, marcille) with a ragged gasp of an inhale that he screams out in the next moment three-fold. his hands clutch at his head as he flops back to the ground, and as his heels kick against the dirt, the remaining blood that had lain spilled around them shivers out of the dirt and into the air to hang in trembling droplets and globules.
ow, dude. ]
1/2
Anyway, Marcille's had plenty of practice with people waking up after she's healed them. She rears back as soon as Choso shoots up, holding both hands in the air beside her. She looks surprised at first, but all of her worry instantly drops away a moment after. ]
You're okay! [ She's obviously not affected by his screams of pain. She beams, clapping her hands together and holding them at her cheek. ] Thank goodness!
2/2
...What's going on here?
no subject
G-Gross!! She hates the smell and the sight. It reminds her of Gorgon's lair. Some would argue it is pretty pathetic for a Goddess of Death to dislike blood. Especially when said Goddess is transformed as a ten-feet tall floating semi-skeleton and is probably the most horrific thing most people will see today besides the big kaiju itself.
But you can't just choose what you like and dislike! ]
Did everyone die...?!
[ She looks around, her gigantic form floating just above the deluge. Wait, there's a man over there. And there's a clearing around him? He has to be the source of the phenomenon. Blood magic...? There's a heavy price for that. She scoots over to him, and would look worried, if not for her skeleton form not having the eyebrows that help convey the emotions. ]
S-Stop that, you're killing yourself!
no subject
Ereshkigal, Queen of Kur and Goddess of Death. [ for a greeting and a placing of an eerily skeletal face to a very fancy name, choso nevertheless makes it sound like a proclamation of the weather. at least the blood has abated, sweeping up behind him in a shifting red curtain. ]
Don't worry about it. I do not bleed out.
no subject
... Most people don't even believe her when she states her identity, she'll have to commend him for his discernment once they're back to safety. ]
I-I see...
[ A dozen red ethereal spears suddenly appear behind her, and are immediately thrust at two of the bigger geckos that were trying to sneak up behind him- Big enough they managed to fight back against the flood, but not so big they're anywhere close to the leader. ]
You are still putting yourself in considerable danger.
no subject
it’s fine. she’s got it. ]
Then I am most fortunate that I have attentive allies to watch my back. My thanks, Ereshkigal. [ do deities care about which of their titles you use?? hmm. ]
no subject
What does not please her however is that he's doing nothing about his precarious situation! At this rate, he's going either kill himself producing(?) that ridiculous amount of blood, or get eaten by a kaiju that manages to survive the waves. Whichever comes first. ]
Y-You are welcome. [She aims for a few other, more distant ones. Better to strike before they can get close.] But I would appreciate if you made sure not to die, a-alright?
[ Just because you ruler over death doesn't mean you have to enjoy seeing people die. ]
no subject
wao. ]
I will do my best. [ and because he can't help himself- ]
You're much larger in person than I expected.
