KAIJU FIGHT #2
KAIJU FIGHT #2
ā¶ 001. IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
On the 1st of April, Outsiders will be rudely awakened by the sudden voice of Captain Yamakawa:

The alarm will sound in the base, urging all Outsiders to suit up, bring their weapons and get ready for the mission. A location pin will then be downloaded into their implant, along with an associated mission briefing. The location will lead to an abandoned amusement park that might be familiar to some - Tokyo Disneyland. The brief will report that according to intel, there is an unauthorized research facility hidden within the premises. Outsiders are to locate it, storm it, and seize any lab specimens they can find.
To get to the theme park, characters will be able to take trains to the edge of Neo Tokyo where they can then be transported by armored trucks through what remains of old roads. Eventually, when the terrain becomes too destroyed and overgrown with brush, theyāll have to travel by foot the rest of the way. However, they will have to be careful because it looks like someone has laid out traps. Some of them are designed to capture animals but others are clearly booby traps meant to deter intruders.
From the outside, nothing looks out of the ordinary in this old park - there are classic attractions such as Cinderellaās castle, the Haunted Mansion, Aliceās Teacup ride, the Western River Railroad, and many, many more. While most of the rides are weathered down and no longer functional, there are plenty of old gift shops and carnival game booths with prizes to take home for free (if you donāt mind a really old Minnie Mouse doll).
LILITH was not able to pinpoint exactly where this secret laboratory is hidden within the enormous park, and itās now up to the Outsiders to find it. All implants will be fitted with a heat-seeking function to allow Outsiders to detect anomalies within the park.
The first part of the mission is simple: Scour the rides and attractions and find the entrance.
Outsiders may encounter more booby traps while searching the park. Traps will range from making parts of attractions and buildings collapse on intruders to more elaborate and high-tech ones like electric fields or explosive traps. Players are more than welcome to come up with their own traps so long as it fits the setting.
"Angels of Lilith. I require your immediate attention. Through your efforts at extracting information from our captives, and intel collected by our intelligence team, we have located the culprits who have stolen our specimens and are conducting illegal experiments. Your mission briefing will arrive shortly. Take caution, however. The Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is reporting strange abnormalities in their readings. We will look further into this. For now, stay sharp and be prepared."

ā¶ 002. BOO WHO?
Eventually, Outsiders will find themselves drawn to the Haunted Mansion, where there appear to be several abnormal signs of life. While the mansion would hardly have been scary to anyone but children several hundred years ago, centuries without any sort of maintenance have turned the place into a real nightmare. Pitch darkness, decrepit fake graves that look like they could be real ones, and the mysterious chatter of ā is that a ghost? There are flickers of life within the old animatronics, and ever so often you might see a skeleton or zombie twitch. They might even take a swing at an unsuspecting Outsider.
The deeper into the mansion you travel, the more power it appears to have, until the Outsiders reach a door that appears to be heavily guarded by a group of humans holding vicious chimeras on a leash.
Once LILITH receives this intel, the next order is given: Storm the lab immediately!

ā¶ 003. LET'S GECK-GO!
As the Outsiders infiltrate the lab, the air buzzes with electricity and everyone's hair begins to stand on end not from fear but from the sheer amount of energy generated. There may be a lot of machines generating a lot of power and some of it may be spilling excess electricity into the air but this feels different. It feels more potent.
Suddenly, the park comes to life. Old generators buzz to life, staticky music begins to play on the worn out speakers, and the lights begin to flash. From the overgrowth surrounding the park, trees begin to topple over. It is obvious that something is approaching and whatever it is seems to have a lot of energy. From the trees, a giant, gecko-like creature emerges. The air around it sparks and each step it takes generates a wave of electricity that follows the many wires and systems laid out underground.
The energy at the park seems to be drawing the unknown kaiju towards the park and more geckos appear from the forests behind it. They move quickly through the park and climb over the buildings and attractions. When they see a hybrid or a person nearby, they will stun them with their electric fields and try to eat them. As they begin to swarm the park, they go into a feeding frenzy that infects the air around them. Rides begin to spin faster, the music grows louder, lights explode, and the more electricity and power the geckos absorb, the bigger they become when they shed their skins.
One gecko in particular grows faster than the others. This one will keep growing with no apparent end in sight and begins climbing over the highest rides until they topple under its weight. Outsiders will have to avoid collapsing rubble and climb over ruined attractions to take down this kaiju while also stopping the other geckos from growing to the same size.
After dealing with the gecko kaiju for some time without any information, a report will finally come in:

ā ā ā MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEETThe Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.
NAME: Yamadenki
HEIGHT: 3 metres- unknown (does not stop growing)
WEIGHT: 1,500-70,000 kg
CLASS: Dangerous
LOCATION: Kanto, Japan
ABILITIES: Stores electricity within its body. Uses static electricity to climb up and stick to objects. Can use electric shocks to stun and injure prey. The more energy they absorb, the bigger they grow. When close enough to a human, it kills them by biting into their flesh and absorbing the electrical currents within the cells, disrupting the heart rate and nervous system. It then eats the flesh.
WEAKNESS: Attacks to the head and body. Ice and extreme cold (they are cold blooded).
EXTRA NOTES: Can regrow appendages. Their severed appendages and bodies can retain electricity for an unknown amount of time so proceed with caution.
ā ā ā MISSION OBJECTIVE:
ā Cut off the supply of electricity at the park by disabling all generators
ā Bring back the Yamadenki (alive or dead) for research purposes
ā Bring back the hybrid specimens
ā Capture all suspicious persons for interrogation

ā¶ 004. A RIFT IN SPACE-TIME
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY! Unknown energy signal detected! Reaching maximum output! Our sensors are detecting a breach in the inter-dimensional fabric!"
An hour into battle, Outsiders will receive a sudden warning signal, urging them to complete their mission and eliminate the Yamadenki before itās too late. All that concentrated energy generated at the park is being corrupted by the Yamadenki, and itās not long before a rift bursts through from beneath the Haunted Mansion, causing a huge explosion and a rain of rubble and mysterious energy. Itās the first of its kind. A rift has never opened this close to Neo Tokyo!
Energy from the rift seems to affect anyone standing too close to it, transforming any unprotected human into a snarling, groaning, human-reptilian hybrid. These hybrids have electrical qualities similar to the Yamadenki and are just as ferocious. The plugsuits issued by LILITH should protect characters against any nasty transformations (unless there is some damage to them or they have taken them off), but exposure to the rift can still result in increased headaches, vertigo, irritability and impulsiveness.
The rift is growing larger by the minute, and from the other side of it - the growling of a number of unknown beasts can be heard. Even the higher ups within LILITH are anxious about this. The only way to stop the rift is to cut off its power supply.

ā¶ 005. AFTERMATH.
As the Outsiders shut down generators and take down the Yamadenki, the rift shrinks in size until finally it closes. Everything at the park goes still now that there is no more power to run things. Some of the corrupted humans and hybrids still linger and will have to be taken down or captured but they are in weakened states now that the rift has closed.
Outsiders will be tasked with capturing the Rift-infected humans who will then be transported to LILITH base for treatment... if they can be treated, that is. Outsiders will also need to report for treatment. Characters may experience the lingering effects of the rift such as the vertigo, headaches, shorter tempers, and impulsive behavior. The LILITH medics arenāt sure what to do other than prescribing bed rest and maybe offering some medication for their headaches. The worst cases may be prescribed sedatives.
Normally, LILITH would order the Outsiders to retrieve specimens from the field but given the events that unfolded, they are told to standby until a special research unit can inspect the area for contamination and give the all clear.

ā¶ 006. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our second Kaiju log! As before, all prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, any characters suffering negative effects from the rift will recover within a week, though you are welcome to determine the severity of their symptoms during that time.
Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the largest gecko will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).
All tags in this log count for 2 reward points each. Ask any further questions below!

rift-adjacent, post battleish, you know what this is
And spot he does. There, a familiar face, and his expression tenses for a moment before he steps over, reaching out a hand to touch him gently on the shoulder. ]
Tsurumaru-san. Are you alright?
[ He leans down a little, expression softer than it might be with some of the other people still hanging around the park. Kindness betraying him, as always. ]
opens my arms
He looks worse than he feels, though and he barely hears anyone approach him through the ringing in his eyes. He feels a touch on his shoulder and he turns to look at Aki, gold eyes unnaturally bright and just a little wild. He's still coming down from the high of all the fighting and it takes him a moment to really regain his composure.
But this isn't an enemy. This isn't a stranger. It's a trusted ally and after a brief second, he lets out a slow breath and smiles, wiping at some of the blood on his face. A finger twitches, still tingling with electricity.)
Yo, Aki-kun.
(Fighting under the effects of the rift had been... well, he'd fared better than most, he likes to think, but after months of being away from home and only traveling digitally through simulations... he can tell he's grown unused to the effects of fighting under warping time and space,)
Look at you. (They're in a ruined park, the air burns with electricity, it feels heavy from the rift's effects still, and despite it all--) Are you surprised to see me?
(He looks worried. Concerned.)
no subject
[ Aki watches, his expression unsure.
The fighting had taken its toll on him as well. His own clothes are ripped and torn and he hasnāt had the foresight to use his style chip to fix them just yet, other things on his mind. Heās going around doing what he can for the stragglers, the people who are around and waiting for a helping hand. He hadnāt imagined that Tsurumaru to be one of the ones who needed aid.
Shaking his head, he leans down to watch for a moment before he breathes out a soft noise.
Is he worried about this man? Maybe a little, and he shifts, dropping down. He just⦠Sits beside Tsurumaru without much hesitation, not considering the dirt or the sparks of electricity. He instead focuses on whatās happening in front of him, the awkwardness. The way he is concerned but refuses to say it, to admit it, because it feels too close to a confession.
Instead, he leans against the wall, humming. ]
Do you need me to take care of you again? I donāt mind.
[ And, from his pocket comes not a cigarette but a small pack of candy. He offers it out without hesitation. ]
no subject
He watches Aki shift through his clothes and he almost expects it to be his pack of cigarettes again. He's surprised to see it's a pack of candies instead and he lets out an amused laugh. Wipe his hand on his clothes to get it as clean as much as possible, he holds out his hand, palm up, )
This is fine.
(It might not seem much but these little gestures truly do wonders to an old soul.)
Something sweet will make me forget how totally uncool I look.
(He holds up his face, all covered in dirt and blue-red blood,)
I don't look like a crane at all.
no subject
Hell itself. Darkness, nothing but darkness, his limbs torn asunderā¦
Shaking his head, he opens the packet and pours the candies into Tsurumaruās hand carefully. ]
I think you look fine. Thereās nothing wrong with being dirty after a battle.
[ Aki pushes hair out of his face and sighs. ]
Do you need me to take care of the sword again? I donāt mind.
no subject
(An aesthetic. A vibe. It's his everything and he doesn't have it now. He takes his hand back and begins to pick at some of the candies, popping one into his mouth and letting it melt.)
Ah! (He smiles and lets out a content sigh. He loves sweets.) How sweet!
(His mood is improving already. He looks at the sword propped at his side, still unsheathed given the fact it's covered in smears of blood. He's done his best to wipe it down but after awhile, it became a lost cause.)
... I need a bath.
(A good rinse and a polish. That's what he needs. Looking over to Aki,)
You do, too.
(Aki looks so worn. Understandably, of course.)
no subject
[ Image, or whatever. It doesnāt bother him, because heās seen the best and worst of people. Maybe heād try and keep up appearances around Denji or Makima-san, but⦠Thereās no reason to right now.
He is tired, though, leaning back as he lets Tsurumaru do whatever he wants with the candy. Itās that simple, isnāt it? Candy to take care of the body, a bath to take care of the sword. It gives him something to do with his hands, and he wants to do this, since he did it last time. ]
Iāll worry about that later. Thereās still a few things to do around here.
[ And his smile turns a little soft, blood pumping hard in his veins - the battle, or something else? He isnāt really sure, but he also doesnāt think it matters. ]
Iām sure you can take care of yourself if you need it, but Iām offering too. It wasnāt too bad last time, Tsurumaru-san.
no subject
Don't worry! (He covers his mouth when he speaks, trying to feign some politeness.) There's been enough of that.
(One hand still has a couple of candies and he holds out his free hand to Aki. )
Let me see.
(Your hand. Give it to him.)
no subject
[ Tilting his head, he watches his friend for a moment before he breathes out a soft noise. Itās never simple, being around Tsurumaru, but thatās okay. Maybe it doesnāt have to be.
All the sameā¦
He holds his hand out with a small smile. ]
What? Are you going to take care of me this time?
no subject
Your hands are dirty.
(He pops the last candy into his mouth and reaches out with it. He rubs at Aki's hand,)
You should take care of yourself first, Aki-kun. Then, you can take care of others.(Of course, his own hands are dirty so there's only so much he can really do right now,) When we're both like this, we can't do much.
(He's making a point, really.)
no subject
[ Maybe he should feel more intense about his prosthetic, but to him itās just another tool. Itās another method of ensuring that he can fight to protect the happiness of the people heās chosen to love and care for, soā¦
His fingers brush over Tsuruās and impulse takes over- he links their fingers, tugging at him gently. ]
We can rest for a moment instead, and then take care of one another. Does that sound fair to you?
no subject
(And he's about to say more when Aki laces his fingers with his and he feels himself being pulled in his direction. It isn't what he'd expected so suddenly and for just a brief second, his eyes widen from surprise.
He lets out a light laugh and just lets Aki hold him,)
My, are you that eager to handle me again?
(First asking to take care of his sword and now this? He has to tease. For just a half second, he recalls the feeling of closeness and the fun he'd had not too long ago at the Sapphire Room.)
no subject
[ Aki might have taken care of the sword version of Tsurumaru by simply emptying it of water when asked, but he hasn't handled him. It's not like he's cleaned the blade, or sharpened it, or polished it to perfection.
Not yet, anyway. He's not sure if Tsurumaru would even want something like that in reality. It feels particularly intimate.
Instead, he leans back, his lip twitch just a little. ]
Unless you want me to handle you, Tsurumaru-san, in which case you only have to ask.
[ His hand squeezes gently. ]
no subject
(When Tsurumaru was hanging on his arm and resting at his side at the club.
But more that, it's the little things right now that don't go unnoticed. The subtle movement of Aki's lips, the gentle squeeze on his hand. He can't help but smile. He's so amused by what he's seeing and experiencing now.
At first, this had been cute. Within a second, it had become...
Charming. Smooth.)
This isn't very boring of you.
(He's surprised.)
no subject
[ The impulse is taking over him because of the Rift, but Aki is a little blind to it.
He sees Tsurumaru as a close friend, and the game they played when they were undercover hadn't been awful. It didn't leave him uncomfortable or on edge at all. A part of him liked it.
Meaning something to someone. Belonging, in some way.
Leaning back, he tugs on Tsurumaru again, to try and get him a little closer. ]
Are you upset?
no subject
(As fun as it is, Tsurumaru can tell. The usually mature and gentle Aki is acting, in some ways, the same way he had when he'd messaged him that night. A little careless. A little more impulsive.
But still, he lets himself be pulled in. He's close enough that he has to free a hand to support himself, placing it next to Aki or else he'll just be on top of him. The distance between them is small but still, there's a space that keeps.)
What are you doing, Aki-kun?
(Just a gentle tug at his senses. Testing the waters.)
no subject
[ Aki tilts his head, some hair slipping in his face from his half-torn topknot. Does he need to keep it up all the time now? He never did cut his hair after his drinks with Yuwon, but maybe he should. Just a trim, to keep it neat...
Shaking his head, he watches Tsurumaru for a moment, as if considering what the right response is, with all the severity of someone choosing the proper dialogue option in an otome game. ]
I'm doing what I want.
[ It's not a lie. Not really. ]
no subject
(He's quiet, staying in place as he not only listens but watches. Despite their closeness, he studies Aki like a bird on a branch, looking at something from far away and studying it to see if it's best to stay or take flight.
He feels aware of the sound of blood rushing in his ears and in his chest, he can feel his heart... he doesn't know. He doesn't know what it just did and it's surely something he'll have to think about later.
(One, the heart begins to pound.
Two, the red blood flows and circulates.)
(Oh, he hasn't had to think about this since he was forced into this form and brought into the same plane as humans.)
After what feels like a long silence that is actually just a few short seconds, he asks,)
Should you?
(Do what he wants?)
no subject
Had the fake flirtation been just that - fake? When they had acted like a couple, he had felt...
He had felt, which was enough for someone as hollow for Aki, who had lost the feeling of happiness for so many years.
Hand twitching in Tsurumaru's, he breathes out softly before he lets it slip back, giving him space to move away if he wants. Aki will steal a kiss, but never without the other wanting it just as much. That's not who he is.
Instead, he leans in to brush their noses together in a pseudo-kiss. ]
Probably not. But maybe that shouldn't stop me.
[ He wants to kiss Tsurumaru. Why is that such a problem? ]
no subject
He closes his eyes and lets Aki come close. He feels him against him.
And he reaches out to push a loose strand of hair from Aki's face, letting his fingers trace his cheek and tuck it behind his ear,)
There are some things you should only do when you should.
(Calmly, gently, sharing his rationale with him when he can tell Aki's mind is spinning differently than usual. Like that night he'd come back to base. But he takes note of how, despite lower inhibitions, Aki controls himself. That's more than Tsurumaru expects from most. It's why he leans in to return his touch, face brushing against his before pulling back.)
... Thank you, Aki-kun.
(For what, he won't specify but he has his gratitude.)
no subject
They're as close as lovers right now, as intimate as anyone Aki has ever been with in the past, reaching for him and not wanting to let go. He can feel the urge still, something thrumming inside him, an instinctive urge to touch and kiss, but he resists.
Just because he wants something doesn't mean he can have it. He's learned that. ]
When should I?
[ Because he wants to. He does want to. Tilting his head, he leans into the touch to his face, to the cheek, and breathes out a soft sigh. ]
I'll want to do it tomorrow, and the day after. You can find me and ask.
[ What's he being thanked for? Who knows, but the touching is nice, the brush of face on face. ]
