( OPEN ) feel like i'm falling down

WHAT: Yuji has once again been the first guinea pig for the upgrades on offer from LILITH and is paying the price.

[ The first moments after being released from the medical room are fine - or, Yuji thinks they're fine, at least. Megumi takes him back to his room and takes care of him, but eventually he gets a little stir-crazy and wants to go and get something to eat, and that leads him to the situation that he's in right now.

Anyone coming across Yuji in the corridor will see him walking down, but at a strangely slow pace. It's as if he's tiptoeing, and he has a face of such utter concentration on his features that it might be endearing if he wasn't also wincing, holding his arms out either side of him. It's as if he's walking along a balance beam, wobbling here and there.

It's comical, and when he realises someone is in front of him he lifts his head, slowly, as if underwater. ]

... Hi?

[ Getting out of bed was probably a mistake.

Yuji had made his way to the library, a quiet place where he wouldn't have to worry too much about being bothered or poked and prodded, but everything had felt so loud. Every time he tried to sit down the pain of it was enough to have him twitching, tears prickling in his eyes, and when he lifts his hand to wipe them away it's as if someone has shoved a hot poker against his skin. It's too much, and way worse than the surgery he had last time, that for a moment he wonders if it was worth it.

(It will be, once this is over, but right now he feels as if his body is out of control).

The overstimulation leads him to crawling under one of the tables, tucking himself against it and shoving his face into his knees, looking far too much like his brother for anyone not to notice the similarities should they come across Choso hiding in the future.

He's crying off and on, but doing his best to pretend he isn't, just in case someone comes across him. ]

[ Yuji had been thoughtful enough to message Raidou before he had gone to get the surgery (not that they had been particularly close last time, but as his boyfriend he is top of the list) and then had gone silent for hours. The pain and the strange distortion of time had left Yuji more confused than he normally is, trying to adjust and not being sure how to do it, eventually recognising that what he wants is to go and find the person who helps settle him and comfort him when something happens.

He is desperately trying not to think about the idle comment Dr. Spim had made and the condoms that still sit in his pocket, since he had no idea what else to do with them. Give them to Choso?

At least Raidou is only in Everlight, so Yuji can stumble his way across the hall. He's tempted to attempt the teleportation, to see how it works, but the idea of accidentally getting himself stuck in his boyfriend's door is alarming, so instead he slumps against it, knocking absently. His voice is a pained whine when he speaks, wondering if he ought to have texted first.

Is Raidou working right now...? ]

Johei... Let me in, it hurts...

[Once Yuji told Raidou that he was going in for another upgrade surgery, he made sure to free up his schedule. They'd both been through the healing upgrades, all too familiar with how LILITH no-anesthetic procedures work. But Yuji was tough, the toughest person Raidou's ever known. He should be okay, right?

Raidou tried to stick to staying in his room so he'd be nearby in case Yuji needed anything, tough as it was to sit here waiting alone. It was best if Yuji just rested after the procedure and he could heal him up if he needed. His room was only a few yards from his boyfiend's, and he was just a text message away. What he wasn't expecting was the sudden noise outside his door, and Yuji's pained voice. He's there opening the door in a flash - hopefully it doesn't catch Yuji too-off guard.]

Yuji--

[ Despite the fact that Megumi had tried to heal him a little bit, he's still so sore. It was, essentially, brain surgery that he went through, after all, so the fact that he's up and moving is testament to how his body adapts so swiftly to things, how well he can tolerate pain. Wincing a little, dragging his hand back, each touch feeling like pins digging into his skin, his eyes turn to Raidou.

Just seeing the other boy makes him feel better.

Blinking back the strange, confusing feeling inside of him, he wobbles, head tilted. ]

... That took ages. Were you out?

[Raidou immediately reaches out to him, but pulls his hand back when he sees Yuji wince. Achy all over, he's sure.]

No. I took the afternoon off. I was waiting to hear if you needed anything.

[He steps aside to let Yuji and go wherever he wants - a chair, the bed, or maybe he wants to stay on his feet and get his bearings.]

Are you... You said it hurts. Can I help?

[His voice is quiet. Yuji doesn't look great. He offers a hand, an offer of healing if he needs it.]

Really? I've been standing here for hours...?

[ Or, he thinks he has, anyway. Frowning, Yuji steps into the room, a little unsteady, and it feels as if there's wind blowing in his ears. Even the way he walks is a little bit odd, as if he's trying to wade through a flood. ]

I should've texted or something, sorry?

[ The offer of a hand makes Yuji soften, though, some of the tension bleeding out - until he takes his boyfriend's hand, and then he's crying out, wincing as he pulls his hand back, tears welling up in his eyes and making him hold it against his chest instead. ]

Ah... It hurt...?

... What do you mean? I answered immediately.

[This is bad. Raidou's immediately put in mind of how Raidou had found March, disoriented and lost inside the base after her recent upgrade surgery. It must be something like that.]

It's okay. I know you were--

[No chance to finish that thought when Yuji suddenly reacts to Raidou's hand as if it were boiling hot. He blinks, frozen silent for a moment. There's an instinct in him that immediately wants to call forth one of his demons, someone with a Dia spell who could help Yuji without touching him. It's a frustrating feeling, and he's unsure of what to do.]

I'm sorry, I-- maybe you need more rest before we try that. Lie down. Please.

Why are you apologising? It's not your fault.

[ The gentle command has Yuji moving, though, stepping over and flopping down on the bed, starfishing a little. His body aches, pinpricking like he has pins and needles all over him, and eventually he wiggles and rolls over, so there's space for his boyfriend to sit and make himself comfortable too.

Blinking, he breathes out, letting his eyes slip closed. It's easier to focus on things when he doesn't have them open, at least right now, and the whistling in his ears seems to calm and leave him with blissful silence. ]

I was in more pain before, but right now I just feel dizzy. It felt like I was stood outside for hours, waiting for you.

[Raidou carefully sits down next to him on the edge of the bed, afraid if he touches him it'll hurt him again.]

I had run into March right after her recent surgery. She was disoriented as well, couldn't tell where she was going even inside the base. I had to walk her back to her room. I wonder if it's a common side effect, feeling disconnected like that.

[It wasn't quite this bad, though. Raidou was able to touch her to lead her back to her room and heal her up.]

Just try to sleep if you can. That's probably the best way to let it pass.

Yeah, it's gotta be something like that... This was to do with my brain, and Dr. Spim said I would feel weird after he let me pet him, so...

[ Yes, your boyfriend cuddled and pet his doctor for an hour. It's not the most surprising thing that he's done, and he shifts, turning his weight to look up at Raidou with a pouting expression. He's not happy! ]

I wanna cuddle so badly, though...

[ Reaching up, he takes one of Raidou's pillows and presses it into his face, curling around it. ]

[Well sorry but that is too cute.] Dr. Spim lets you pet him? [Of course. Who else but Yuji.

His look turns sad again though, because there's nothing more Raidou wishes he could do right now than to hold Yuji and heal him.]

Once you're feeling better enough, I can heal you up the rest of the way. Alright?

Yeah? He said he was on a break for an hour, so...

[ Is that special? Yuji thinks it's totally normal to want to pet a cat, doctor or not. But that does remind him! ]

He gave me a reward too, hang on...

[ Reaching into his pockets, he pulls out said reward - the two night stay token, but also... The condoms, since his face is in a pillow. He just hands them over. ]

[That is not what Raidou was expecting at all, and there are no words from him for several moments as he stares at Yuji's hand, face quickly reddening. He absolutely doesn't even register the token there.]

He-- Why-- How is that a reward...?!

What? It's a sleepover, with the cats, I thought you'd like it...

[ He shifts, peeking his head out, and then... The realisation dawns on him and his eyes widen. ]

- Ah! No, not that, the token! The token, Johei!

Oh.

[Raidou has a shy hand in front of his mouth, blinking at Yuji. After a moment, he gingerly reaches out to free the token he now sees poking out from in between... a couple of condoms. A token for a stay at a hotel, apparently, as he turns it over in to inspect it.]

I-I see. That was. Um. Nice of them to offer.

[Is it getting hot in here? He feels like it's getting hot in here.]

I didn't there was, ah. A hotel like that. Around here. With cats.

It's because I was the first twice...

[ Yuji smothers his face in the pillow again, groaning. His head is hurting too much for this level of embarrassment...!!

When he speaks again, his voice is muffled against the fabric. ]

The other things were from him, because he heard about my 'circumstances' and wanted me to be 'responsible'. I was going to give them to Choso...

Ah.

["Circumstances", huh. Well, they weren't really keeping said circumstances a secret, LILITH probably monitors a lot of activity and conversations, they were even sleep together in one cot in the med bay after the last mission. Hard for them to not be aware at this point.

Raidou fiddles with his hat, and the cuffs of his shirt, as he often does when he's embarrassed.]

Well. He is a doctor.

[So Dr. Spim would be handing them out to people, right? Makes sense. Yes.

He's silent for several more moments before speaking up again.]

Once you're feeling better. We can go? Or we can save it for a-after the next mission...

[ Yuji has said that he's not keeping it a secret, so maybe it's been obvious to other people - that he likes Raidou so much, that maybe they peek at the messages they send one another... It's embarrassing to think about, but he also doesn't mind it that much.

He likes people knowing that they're together. That he belongs, at least in part, to Raidou.

Peeking out over the top of the pillow, so it's just his eyes, he hopes his embarrassment - and shy glee - is hidden away. ]

And a cute cat.

[ Who purrs loudly. ]

We can go whenever you want. I... I want to go with you, Johei. The only one I wanted to go with.

[Raidou peeks back at him from under his hat brim, and is smiling just a little despite his embarrassment. How could he not, when Yuji says something like that.]

I want to go with you, too. It'll be nice.

[As far as Raidou is concerned, Yuji deserves all the relaxation and enjoyment he can get. Anything to help take his mind off of all those terrible feelings that he knows are lurking below the surface. Anything in return for the sacrifices he makes not just here, but back home.

It's taking so much right now for Raidou to not reach out for him.]

Once you're feeling better.

It'll be fun.

[ Two nights together... Yuji isn't thinking about what the doctor implied they'd be doing - he's thinking about sharing dinner with each other, using a bath together, curling up into bed and enjoying the company of someone he cares about for two days of isolated bliss. The other stuff crosses his mind, but not so much that he thinks he'd ever push for it.

That's not what his relationship with Raidou is about. He likes him, for his heart, his strength, his warmth, his smile and his genuine nature, not because he wants to do... That. ]

You can put the other things somewhere else...? It's not - we don't... Nn...

[ Hiding his face again. ]

Can you lie down with me anyway?

[He smiles a little broader now, nodding in agreement. Raidou's never gotten to stay in a place like that before, and getting to share it with Yuji makes it even better.

And it's not that those things don't cross his mind, either. Raidou is, after all, a typical healthy teenager with a boyfriend he's quite smitten with. But that seems a little fast for this shy 1920s kid, who will pluck the condoms from Yuji's hand and, after a moment of hesitation, stashes them under the bed. After that he can lie down on his side, facing Yuji.]

Make sure to bring the camera, okay? If there are cats there.

[ Yuji, at least, has no expectations. He might be a teenager himself, but he's also a half-oblivious one who had to google some of the things that Choso said to him, mortified at it. What they've been doing so far (kissing, idle touching, the gentle exploration of mouths on skin) is more than enough for him.

Raidou lies down and Yuji shifts, wiggling a little closer. The pillow has a more practical use now, and he places it between them before he cuddles himself closer; the bedding is enough to buffer them, so he doesn't have to worry about accidentally touching and getting hurt.

It means he's close enough to Raidou to feel his warmth, and it eases some of the strange, disorientating feeling, eyes closing again to help it pass. ]

I will. My camera, my Johei... I'll be so happy.

Me too.

[He reaches out and touches the pillow where Yuji's heart would be behind it; it'll have to do for now.]

Get some sleep. I won't go anywhere until you're feeling better.

[ Which might feel like days or seconds, given how wired his head is right now, but… ]

Will you kiss me in the morning? Three times… No! I want four.

[He leans forward, tantalizingly close.]

I'll make it five.

Johei… How am I meant to sleep now?

[ He’s pouting a little, but closing his eyes with a soft sigh. ]

Wake me up, okay? Two hours.
