WHO: March 7th, various WHAT: May catch-all! ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN (hmu up for starters if you'd like anything!) WHERE: All around WHEN: The month of May WARNINGS: None yet!
[ Investigating the spate of disturbing incidents in this city should remain the priority, even if the mission affords all Outsiders some freedom to explore the area for unrelated reasons. Yesod's efforts to observe the locals are interrupted, however, when one exchange leads to little truly informative, quickly rather uncomfortable at that as the woman answering his questions steers the conversation off-topic. "This is getting too depressing... Why don't we take it somewhere more fun? You really look like you need it!"
Her catching hold of his arm reminds him of Malkuth doing the same, not long ago, though the context was very different. Before his thoughts can travel too far down that path, he considers borrowing Malkuth's idea and excusing himself with the claim of a date to meet, but something in his reaction must be upsetting — the woman huffs as she presses closer to peer at him. "Men... I could tell that you were checking me out the whole time, you know, so you can drop the stuffy act already." ]
...My apologies.
[ His hand comes up to intercept hers threatening to reach for his tie. ]
[ She's not sure what she's witnessing when she first sees it, because Yesod is not the kind of person who tends to end up in trouble. And so she has to process that it is him she sees standing there, one hand holding--no, is he trying to block that lady?
It's not jealousy or anything that sparks something inside of her, it's the fact that Yesod clearly looks uncomfortable and that is her friend and so March stops thinking and starts acting.
In the next few seconds, there's a girl forcing herself between the pair of them, arms outspread to shield him and gaze narrowed. ]
He said he's involved and he is! Back off already!
[ March is an unexpected arrival on the scene, a sudden flash of color, but her timely intervention is far from unwelcome, at least on Yesod's part. How fiercely she makes herself a shield surprises him, not unpleasantly. His discomfort must have been discernible, he supposes; with March standing between him and the stranger now jerking back in bewilderment, he relaxes somewhat.
Of course, they won't be able to address each other using their names for now, and he thinks of their first mission together.
The woman looks March up and down, lips pursed until she recovers to speak. "Yeah?" Blatantly, she takes in every curve of March's figure — only then does she turn to go, throwing her retort over her shoulder. "Well, I sure hope you're getting something out of it." ]
[ March bristles, because first of all, she doesn't need some weird lady looking at her (in her opinion) Very Nice Curves so critically. Second of all, Yesod was clearly uncomfortable and that's her friend, and she doesn't want anyone getting away with thinking it's fine to harass him.
And third, that really still sounds like she's talking down on him, so her eyes narrow and in the spirit of every single romcom she has ever watched and read, the retort is completely said without thinking. Sheer sassy instinct. ]
Yeah, the sex is great!!
[ This is a lie, but she says it so confidently that this lady is not going to know that. ]
[ Much like her performance during the infiltration mission, March seems remarkably sure of herself, despite the circumstances. Collecting himself, Yesod manages to stop perishing standing around like a statue, stepping closer to March's side instead to look at her as though she has captured his attention in its entirety and nothing else matters now. If nothing else, his gaze is intent. ]
Let's find a secluded location...
[ Clearly because resisting each other even a second longer would be unbearable. Yesod extends one arm to March for the two of them to make their exit while the woman stares at them, evidently taken aback by March's declaration. ]
[ As well she should be. March easily latches onto Yesod's arm (this woman Could Never) and if the intensity of his gaze gives her pause, maybe knocks her heart a beat faster, she's not going to say as much. This is a lot easier this time around, instead of their first mission, at the very least, and she's happy to get them both out of there.
Once she's sure they're not being watched, she heaves a sigh, not releasing him but at least loosening her grip. ]
[ It certainly helps that he has come to feel at ease in March's company, in the months since that mission. He may be flustered himself, somewhere between caught off-guard and determined to stifle any resurfacing inappropriate considerations, but he focuses on cues to adjust to, attentive, and before long, they are alone, their arms still linked. Like Malkuth, March is careful to place some space between them again — for his sake? — once keeping up an act is unnecessary.
Yesod loosens his grip in kind, after a moment. ]
I was rather unprepared myself.
[ That also applies to March's remark — he isn't sure what to make of it, how to react. ]
Yeah, of course! Who'd just leave their friend there to get hit on against his will?
[ Like, maybe if he'd welcomed it, she would have gone on her merry way. But Yesod, thankfully, is not terribly good at fully hiding when he's uncomfortable and it had been easy enough to tell that it hadn't been a situation he'd welcomed.
March may not have intended to assist in a way quite the way she had, but. The problem's been resolved, and she lightly pats his arm now--to reassure. ]
Are you okay? She didn't actually do anything to you, did she?
