What do you think will be waiting for us? Out there.

anyway. )
Whatever it is, it has the ability to mess with us mentally.
( she's gesturing towards the sleeping others, taking a sip out of that warmed mug with a sigh. )
I thought we'd lose some to it on the way, since that's how the people back there got taken. Though I guess if we see people start wandering, we could just follow 'em and see where they go.
no subject
Mm. Reminds me of some Abnormalities at home. I'd even bet its the effect of a kaiju. Though...I wouldn't recommend following people. That might just lead you into a trap unless you're prepared.
no subject
... yeah. Guess we could just lock them in one of the vans if it happens.
( how quickly is this going to become pvp )
Sounds like you've dealt with them before though. What do you usually do when one of yours starts wandering off into the desert?
no subject
[So...yeah. Not the best plan.]
.....Well, in my line of work, you would follow them. Or if it poses a risk to the rest, and you have no way of curing it...subduing them would be the best option. Killing them if you have to.
no subject
Right.
( how could she forget. she's lighting up a cigarette while he explains, her exhale more a sigh than anything. )
So, follow them. Buddy system and all that so people aren't off wandering by themselves and snap them by the knees if they decide to be a problem.
( ......... )
They didn't really give us tranquilizers in case that happens, so how are you with restraints?
no subject
Oh, I'm rather good at that. If all else fails, I can smash a leg or two for debilitation.
no subject
Try not to go for my legs first if I start seeing shit, I'm already down a hand.

( a joke, obviously. but the gloved hand fussing with the cloak sat over her shoulders is as real as any. a partial truth. )
It's a boring story, but I'll trade you for one of yours.
no subject
[He tilts his head, thinking.]
Sure. Why not. I'm full of boring stories. Any particular theme? I could just blab on about past jobs...
no subject
Could be the story of why or how you got into the job to begin with; that should about even us out.
no subject
[A beat.]
Fixers are an awfully popular job. If you work hard enough, you'll get paid well. If not...well, you'll die or get taken out by someone else. It's how it is.
no subject
.. So it boils down to survival.
( with both hands open, she turns both over to examine the backs of them. one still skin, flesh and bones. the other - hidden beneath a glove. )
Same reason here. The job before the last had really strict resignation policies, and I had places to be.
no subject
[His eyes move from one hand to another, taking the edges of the glove in.]
Strict resignation policies, huh. Was it worth it?
no subject
( there's not a lot in that life to miss, just bandages and bullet holes and the near-constant taste of iron. )
If anything, I regret not doing it sooner.
( coming home to an empty house was hard. the furniture tossed, a body in the midst, a cut noose - the only family member she really cared about, missing.
but yknow what? now that she's thinking about it? )
I should've asked about the eyes.
no subject
[The addition makes him huff, a little amused.]
They weren't always like this. They're implants. Not from LILITH. That's all I'll say.
no subject
( she does what she can, but she tries to keep regret at a minimum if she can help it. and, y'know, doesn't internalize every little slight and fault of the world like some people do?
but anyway. )
And here I thought we were having a moment. ( this is a Joke. ) Though I guess that means you weren't as surprised by the tech they've got here. I hear some of the others were getting.. 'upgrades'.
no subject
Ha. [And a nod at her observation.] And that's right. Upgrades like that are part and parcel of being a Fixer at home. Hell, some even get full body prosthetics.
no subject
Fixers. Mercenary sort?
( a little funny. she calls herself a troubleshooter which is pretty much synonymous.
also she's still trying to puzzle out how a full body prosthetic would work. keep the head and toss everybody out?? )
no subject
[GuessIKillPeople.JPG]
[And no, it really is a full body prosthetic. Not even a head left.]
