[that gives him pause for a second, blinking, before he wrinkles his nose slightly and shakes his head.]
'Course not. I'm nowhere near important enough for that, I'm just a part of the company's whole machine.
[literally.]
We all are.

[a little shrug, as he gestures to himself.]
I just use the cloaking thing around all you guys.

She tries to think of the high-tech machines she's familiarized herself with so far. Is it like if a person was made of their prosthetics? Even those are hard to understand. How can machines replicate a human brain? A heart? Feelings?
Her mind races. Other worlds can be so scary sometimes, full of the unknown. A colony of machines underground that sound and feel like humans seems so abnormal to her. Her high fantasy brain tries to reconcile with all of this.
She's silent for a moment in her shock, pressing her fingers to her chin. ]
You were designed to work underground in that company? For what though?
no subject
[the stretch of silence while she works through all of that speaks for her-- he's getting more used to that kind of reaction, by now. seems like people here are split between knowing about artificial intelligence or not.]
It's an energy-producing facility. Extracts a substance from working with the monsters they've got contained there and refines it. All of us AIs... we were created to run the different departments and help organize the human employees, according to the manager's orders.

Anyway. Her eyes grow wide with realization. ]
Wait... I've heard a lot of this before. [ She furrows her brows. ] Do you know Ishmael? Or Malkuth?
no subject
[yessss he loves avoiding having to do shit, thank you other projmoons]
Never knew Ishmael before I got here, but Malkuth's another one of us. [...] Supposed to be. I don't know, everything's real weird with her, here.

[ Marcille will have to think about whether this is worth confirming with Malkuth later. They're not really close. ]
Anyway, you mean you're like SYNTHIA and the other robots around the base? An AI?
no subject
[hmm. he's debating how to put this if she's not used to AI.]
We're biomechanical. It's sorta like when a human's augmented with mechanical parts, but backwards.
no subject
[ Her poor brain. ]
I guess there's nothing stopping someone from doing that. I just didn't think human traits were something that could be implanted, I guess.
no subject
[what are they there for, just to suffer, etcetera.]
Feels strange sometimes, though.
no subject
[ She may be missing the point, but she's not wrong. ]
You can eat and drink? That won't mess up any of your machinery?
no subject
[this is clearly an important correction. unfortunately.]
I don't know if I can eat anything solid, though, I don't normally... have much of a mouth? So it's a lot easier with liquids...
no subject
Not much of a mouth...?
[ Hello? Elaborate please. ]
no subject
It's how I was built, I don't know why they did anything they did. Voice module doesn't need me to have one.

[he pauses for a second, before he adds:]
...I could turn the cloaking off for a sec, but it sounds like it'd probably be really weird for you if I did.
[netzach doesn't mind letting her see, but. just saying.]
no subject
I... don't know. I've seen robots around the city before. Do you look a lot different from those?
no subject
no subject
I mean, if you're okay with it... But you're wearing the cloaking device now for a reason, right? You don't have to if you don't want to.
no subject
[they're out here in the desert, it should be safe anyway-- so.
he reaches up to turn off the cloaking and let her see his metal self instead. box shaped.
for the record this box is like ~5 feet tall i don't know why they are so big]

Months ago, she might have been terrified of this machine and its intelligence. Now, mouth covered with one hand, she quietly and calmly takes him in despite the nervous beat of her heart. ]
You really do look... completely different.
[ She lowers her hand, brows furrowed, and slowly reads out: ]
Net-zatch?
no subject
[he pronounces it for her, his voice now carrying a metallic echo to it; the lens of his singular eye glows as he speaks, and as he said, there's no apparent mouth moving on his body. his name's the hebrew pronunciation by the way, it sounds like that.]
Not too weird for you, yeah? I'll turn the avatar back on in a minute.
