ā¶ 001. POSITIVE THINKING.
The aftermath of the last kaiju battle, has had LILITH researchers scrambling to find an adequate way to combat the aftereffects of the kaiju discovered in the desert. While their research is still very much a work in progress, for nowā¦ itāll have to do. In the early hours of the morning, a message will appear on everyoneās oculars, asking them to suit up immediately and meet at the given coordinates, which will act as the Outsiders rendezvous point. These coordinates lead to an abandoned hotel within 1 mile to the outskirts of the strip.
A new update awaits each Outsider on their oculars. There is no option to decline, and right away it prompts you through several steps. This update was all in part thanks to the various dreams that the oculars have been reacting to. The researchers for LILITH figured out a way to combat these pesky mental side effects by forcing the mind into a state of equilibrium. In order to do this, Outsiders will be asked to think of their happiest memories. Perhaps, due in part to everyone downloading this update at the same time, people will automatically feel an odd sensation as they think back on these memories, almost as if their mind is connected to a collective. These memories will leave each Outsider feeling fulfilled, or even a temporary sense of high as the download continues. As a result, Outsiders may feel giddy or a sense of calm. Some may be motivated to talk about their happy memories with others the first time they do this.

A new update awaits each Outsider on their oculars. There is no option to decline, and right away it prompts you through several steps. This update was all in part thanks to the various dreams that the oculars have been reacting to. The researchers for LILITH figured out a way to combat these pesky mental side effects by forcing the mind into a state of equilibrium. In order to do this, Outsiders will be asked to think of their happiest memories. Perhaps, due in part to everyone downloading this update at the same time, people will automatically feel an odd sensation as they think back on these memories, almost as if their mind is connected to a collective. These memories will leave each Outsider feeling fulfilled, or even a temporary sense of high as the download continues. As a result, Outsiders may feel giddy or a sense of calm. Some may be motivated to talk about their happy memories with others the first time they do this.
ā¶ 002. BREACH OF THE CITY.
Once the download is completed, thereās zero time to rest. It looks like whatever they found in the desert isnāt interested in just sitting and waiting. Theyāve come to the city with clear intentions of gradually infiltrating its borders. Who are they? Why, the missing people of course.
Apparently, as part of the kaijus life cycle, it lays eggs, which then hatch into younger worms, similar to actual earthworms. These young worms, unable to protect themselves, control the minds of other living entities in order to do their bidding and keep their own bodies safe. Once infected, their hosts become vicious and hungry for meat, attacking any living thing in sight and trying to eat its flesh to nourish the parasite within.
Itāll be up to the Outsiders in order to scope out these young worms controlling the people of the desert, while simultaneously knocking those individuals out of commission. In some rare circumstances, there will be no turning back for these individuals; if the young worm actually burrows themselves into the bodies of the controlled, they are no more than a reanimated corpse, and will need to be eliminated immediately. The longer these worms exist within these peopleās bodies, the larger they grow, and by extension, the more influence they can exert over a larger net of people.

While the attention will be focused on destroying the monsters that have come up to the city, there will be occasional tremors that can be felt that seem to come from far below— almost as if they were cries from the old city that lay forgotten below. Unfortunately, itās much worse.
In the middle of staving off the attacks from the mysterious creatures, there will suddenly be the sound of the defense alarm blaring, and without any additional warning, something breaks through the center of the city. This will first be punctuated by the sounds of the building around them crumbling, followed by the clear visual of the large serpentine creature theyāve encountered in the desert. The large sand worm doesnāt even pause to regain its bearings. As soon as it recognizes the presence of other organisms, it begins glowing a fluorescent shade in varying indefinable colors—
Thanks to the updates on the oculars, there will no longer be hallucinations that follow any contact with the worm, however, if one stares too long, they will still be met with splitting headaches and a pressing sense of agitation, so Outsiders are cautioned against prolonged exposure. That said, it wonāt always be easy to take a breather against such a large creature.

Note: Roles can be decided by the characters themselves as to what they figure is appropriate and most fitted to their skill set. Everyone will eventually fight the worm (so this does not affect the fight mechanics of the worm itself) and people can also jump from one role to another.

ABILITIES: Mind control. Although full details are UNKNOWN, its young can take control of human and animal hosts. Once under their control, the hosts will become aggressive and hungry for meat, which is theorized to feed and nourish the young worms until they are ready to emerge.
EXTRA NOTES: According to what the researchers have surmised, similar kaiju have appeared on a much smaller scale and are susceptible to water poisoning and electrical shocks. LILITH has not found a way to fully free the hosts from the parasite, but they can be stunned after receiving multiple electric shocks.

ā ā ā MISSION ROLES:
ā GROUP ONE: Those who fulfill this role will need to be equipped with brute strength and the ability to survive the attacks in a city that is the midst of being destroyed. They will also need the stamina to keep the worm at bay as the others complete their tasks before also gathering to exterminate the kaiju.
ā GROUP TWO: With strong mental fortitude, these individuals will be expected to clean up the group of controlled individuals; not all will be able to be saved, and the ability to make that distinction is imperative for this role. Those who appear too far gone will not be able to regain their senses. They will need to be killed.
ā GROUP THREE: This group will be concentrated on being able to property evacuate the citizens that remain in the city of Las Vegas. Preferably those who are quick on their feet, or are able to stealthily circumvent the dangers in the city in order to get the people to safety would be ideal for this role.
ā GROUP FOUR: Those with support skills or a medical background will be expected to assist those in the other groups, whether by healing, additional abilities, or by assisting the other groups as needed.

Aside from the large gaping hole in the center of the city that they canāt address immediately, they are first expected to get rid of the carcasses of the larvae.
Each Outsider will be provided with a suit and will even be given hover packs to scale down the side of these large holes. They will also be given traditional ropes and lines for those who want to get creative with scaling, or who simply didnāt make it there quickly enough to grab a hover pack (with the destruction to the city, some supplies are still in transit). They will be expected to review each carcass and tag which ones can be sent to the lab for further review, and which should simply be discarded as being unusable.

EVENT BREAKDOWN (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. POSITIVE THINKING: LILITH has updated everyone's implants and encourage them to think of their happiest thoughts to give the technology the mental boost they need. Some characters may feel high or giddy and want to express their happy memories to someone else.
2. BREACH OF THE CITY: The worm larvae have a parasitic nature and are taking over the bodies of civilians. Outsiders are tasks to seek out those affected, killing worm larvae or civilians with parasites who are beyond help.
3. WORM ON THE MIND: The largest worm breaks through the ground in the heart of the city and Outsiders are encouraged to attack within their arranged group.
4. LET'S WRAP UP: After the sandworm monster is killed, Outsiders will be tasked with clean up efforts.

[ albeit, he may have given her a bit more time for the dust to settle. for her emotions from that day to simmer down. enough where he wouldnāt feel as if he were simply taking advantage of them.

[She quietly says that word, unknown if she says it as a question or a comment. He speaks clearly with no hesitation and her eyes look away from him to give her a moment, to register that it's finally going to happen even if she has no idea how this conversation will end. Part of her is hopeful while another part is bracing for the impact of something negative, something that would tear her apart. She looks back at him before giving a nod.]
Do you wanna go somewhere to talk or take a walk around the mess as we chat away... How should we do this? [Her emotions may never simmer down, they only get buried into the back of her heart as she tries to protect herself. It does click that she gave a bit of a cold response when he first approached her and she can feel a little regret over it, even if there is still frustration and other emotions that Yuwon put her through recently.
She might as well get this over with, no matter what will happen once they are finished.]

however, maybe this time apart had made it perfectly clear to him that he may have been looking at it entirely wrong. regardless, he supposes these considerations were to be saved for their actual conversation, and so after a moment, he holds his hand out. if she rejects it, he supposed, he didnāt necessarily mind having to stray closer to this area, but: ] Thatās fine, but I was actually thinking we go somewhere a little higher.
[ he looks up to the top of one of the nearby buildings, before looking back towards her. ]

She stares at his hand for a few seconds, but without any hesitation in her movements, she moves a hand to take it into her own. It's a nice hand to hold and she has been waiting for it after all.]

[ activating his shoes from LILITH, he jumps off the ground and ascends into the air, jumping from one piece of rubble to the next, before he leaps onto the top of a building. holding her body this close ā¦ kind of reminds him of the proximity theyāve shared countless times before, and at the same time— it felt more intense somehow.

waiting for her feet to touch the ground, before releasing. though, just his hand on hers seems to linger for a second longer.
but, before she can even have a second to settle, he already begins speaking. almost abruptly: ] I thought about what you said. [ was it a proper to have considered it a confession? whatever other people may have labeled it, he decides to simply take it as he had, and respond in the only way he knew how.
he looks back at her, as if confirming she was following himā¦ ]

Until he jumps and her other hand grabs on to his shoulder very tight as he flings himself into the air with her and she almost let out a yelp of surprise because she didn't expect this at all. She basically held her breath until they finally land and she lets out a large exhale.]

however, even catching her off guard like this ā¦ feels kind of good. her casual, but scolding words being both familiar and wholly unfamiliar at the same time. there werenāt a lot of people who could candidly voice their complaints in this manner towards him, and he finds he doesnāt dislike it in the least.
he seems to be pondering over this, even as she settles down, and gives her āblessingā for him to continue. or is it a threat? he gives a small exhale, as if slightly offended at the implication that he would try the same tactics again. (he would, lbr, but that doesnāt stop him from feeling affronted). but, itās true that heās done a fair amount of thinking since their prior conversation to now, and while itās unknown if his response to her is sufficient, he does seem to be self-assured in his words, at least. ]
As you know, Iāve always climbed the tower alone. If the Outer Gods never broke past the walls of the tower, I donāt know if this would have ever changedā¦ [ outside of son ohgong, that is. but, he doesnāt want to think of that fool right now. ] Even when I came back, I had to think carefully of who to bring with me. Who to keep connections with, and Iā¦ [ he probably still thought that way, even about this place. old habits were hard to kill, and even his disagreements with other outsiders (i.e. wriothesley) made it all too apparent that he hadnāt changed as much as he thought.

She listens to him quietly. It's true that they both bared their histories to each other, they seen their individual sufferings, their current challenges and the things that shaped them to who they are right now. Yuwon's explainations and his vagueness is simply part of who he is because of that. It does make her wonder if she cause any change to him and if she really changed much at all. They both have old habits that are hard to kill.]
I get it, but... Like I am not in The City right now, you are not in the tower right now. I'm not saying to forget about it or anything since I know we got to go our seperate ways in the future.
[She's not sure where she is going with this, she's more so rambling words out as her eyes close and her hand might be trembling very lightly because she is daring herself. Instead of freezing in place, she is forcing herself to take heavy steps and to speak out even with her throat full of thorns. She's never great at opening herself up because nobody would understand and accept her if she let her true feelings spill. To show her negative side, a poor woman who is desperate to become someone important in the eyes of the world.
She wonders what Dante would think if they saw her now.]

I was telling the truth back there. Even if I didn't show my past to you, those feelings are still real and it was extra heavy on my heart that I was going to break if I didn't let go. I'm already holding enough in as it is.

[She takes a few large breaths to try to keep some of herself together. There might be some chill lingering aroud them, but then again they are standing in a high place right now.]

he wonders if this stemmed from the intrinsic sense of hopelessness he felt in the memories she's shared with him. but, he also knows it's unlike himself to be vexed by these thoughts. he tightens his hand momentarily as he listens to her, only releasing when she's nearly finished speaking.
it was easy to feel like, in all their disconnections, that they sometimes feel like they're walking and speaking on two different paths, and yet he can't deny the feeling that they also converged in some ways too. he wasn't lying when he said he liked the way in which she was familiar and unfamiliar to him at the same time. ]
I don't think I've heard you talk this much in a while. [ a few days. it's probably a poor time to make this comment, but he does regardless, before he does end up finishing his thought. ] I'm saying I would bring you. [ though, as he thought, rodya knew him quite well.

I can't lie and say for how far, or make you a promise I can't keep. I also don't know if you'll end up changing your mind. [ he reaches out and places a hand on her shoulder. it gradually moves to the side of her neck, enough where he can feel the steadiness of her pulse by his thumb. she did look a bit chilled, but he doesn't ask her where he jacket is, maybe she simply didn't want to wear it and be reminded of him. ] You're probably special because of all you've been through. Bad or good, they're things that only belong to you. You say you're one of the weakest, but I don't see you that way.
[ as cliche as it is, he may have been taken in by rodya simply because she was so... herself. for better or worse. no matter what she's been through, she was someone who stuck to her own principles and convictions.
they say everyone is formed by a culmination of their experiences, the environment they've hailed from, and many other minute details stacked upon one another. yuwon doesn't know about any of that, but he does comprehend that rodya was the person she was because of her past, no matter how much it plagued her, and in spite of it— she still showed feelings of compassion, she still managed to live to her convictions, and flourish even through the worst of her internalized struggles.

they're words that he never imagined could have been said to him. ]
I thought about it, but this is all I could come up with. I also want you...

while it isn't like his feelings are completely sorted out, or that he's given her the full response she wants, he hopes she'd at least understand that much. ]

[Yuwon, please... Then again, he's always the type to make a comment about everything he notices. One of the details she picked up about him ever since the two started to hang out some more.
It does stun her a bit when Yuwon explains that he would bring her along and he doesn't see her weak. Maybe it's because some of The City's expectations still cling on to her like old habits. The hand on the side of her neck does feel warm that she did tense up for one second out of the feeling of temperature change. She relaxes again since Yuwon really got that effect on her.
He talks more and his feelings do reach her, but "this is all I could come up with" part does make her stare a little bit.]
All this time I gave you and that's all you gotta say?
[Then again... This is very much something Yuwon would do. Think very hard and long on his words to try to make her happy.]

[She lets out a tired laugh after a few seconds before she closes the gap in between their bodies. Her free arm wraps over his lower back and she looks directly into his eyes.]
If I am putting in the effort, even when it hurts to talk... You gotta do the same too. Don't think too hard on it, let me know whatever feeling pops up in your heart. I want to hear your feelings and thoughts when they happen. Even the bad ones. Even if there is no words, I still want to understand you. You are a mystery sometimes~
[It will take time for both of them to learn and get better, but maybe there is a chance for them to get there. And she is smiling right now over it even if she doesn't realize it. Because she feels greatly wanted by someone after for so long. It's still questions in her about if she deserves such warmth right now, but sometimes you tell yourself to forget it, indulge in these things while they are there.]

if he knew her innermost thoughts, he probably could have easily assuaged her with the clear fact that she deserves a lot more than this. more than he could offer, especially when he comprehends he probably isn't the ideal partner. though, even with that belief, he does appreciate the clear idea that despite her question— she does seem to relent to his words. does seem to accept them as they presently are, and when he sees her smile. ] You don't think I've done enough talking?
[ though, while he asks that, he gives a quiet nod, as if to say he undertsood. as for if he was actually capable... well, that's another matter entirely.
gradually, a smile spreads across his lips as his hand moves up to touch the side of her face. it's a face he's seen so many times by now that he doesn't think it'll be easy to forget even if he does return to his life. unlike before where the thoughts of the future impeded his ability to live in the present, he's distinctly aware that the tenderness he currently feels is somehow... still there in spite of it all. even he didn't know he could feel this way...
he doesn't say anything and just seems to savor the moment. overlooking the decimated city wasn't too bad for once.
after a moment, he asks: ] Should we head back now? [ together... ]

[When they both believe that they deserve a lot more than this, someone better than each other.... Damn... She still teases her way to ease any worries away for both of them, to try to keep this a happier moment. Something tender, gentle... It's so foreign to her due to how her life has been, but that first gentle touch got her intoxicated for more.
She lets out a chuckle on his question before she lets go of his hand to touch his face back. Her hand movements are gentle yet careful since maybe she feels like her hands always have a chill to them. It doesn't stop her from stroking his cheek, moving further to brush back his hair before nudging his face closer to hers. What a blessing that she is only a little shorter than Yuwon so she can kiss him without stretching for it. It's a lingering kiss that she puts a lot of feeling behind it, to let any unspoken words be told. Once a period of time has passed, she pulls back a little to speak and breathe, but not too far. Yuwon could feel her breathing with how close she has gotten.]

as much as he tries to smoothly move on, he feels her touch linger on his cheek and then feels the press of her lips against his. he also finds himself temporarily transfixed on the gesture, his head tilting slightly to savor her taste on his tongue. but, then she pulls back, and he's left feeling like he's missing something.
