TRAVEL LOG #2

TRAVEL LOG #2

CONTENT WARNINGS: natural disaster, acid rain, vehicle crash.

▶ 001. WINGING IT.

In the early morning hours of the 1st, Outsiders will receive a rude awakening blaring through their implants. No matter what they do, the alarm will not stop sounding until they are forced to get up. A message will flash through their vision:

ALL OUTSIDERS ARE TO REPORT TO THE HANGAR IMMEDIATELY FOR DEPARTURE

Get up, get dressed in your plugsuit, and it’s time to go! Once they report at the hangar, they will be met with a huge spacecraft, large enough to fit at least 80 people. This will be their mode of transport to their next location.

"My Angels of Lilith. You are needed once again. We have received distress signals from the neighbouring country of South Korea. Unfortunately, since we have not established data portals in that country, we require you to embark via air. Your aircraft is ready for you and your seats have been assigned. I bid you a safe journey."

True enough, there are more than enough seats on the LILITH SKY CRUISER to accommodate every Outsider, and to get everyone organized quickly for departure, all Outsiders will receive a seat number. Like any plane, seats are rather cramped and there isn’t much leg room. Once the seatbelt sign is off, Outsiders are free to stand up and move around the cruiser, but they might have to climb over other people or make the whole row stand up to give them room. The aircraft is serviced by robotic stewards serving light snacks of nuts and crackers, and coconut crab kimbap and seaweed soup at meal time. Any characters who use a cloaking device will be instructed to use it during the flight to accommodate the aircraft. Also, any characters who rely on a weapon or anything else (such as a Gundam), it will be loaded onto the cargo of the aircraft.

The flight will take about 2-3 hours. Outsiders may take a nap, chat or try the inflight entertainment available. This inflight entertainment is delivered through a virtual reality headset. Outsiders may pick a selection of AI movies of questionable quality, along with several virtual reality games. There are single player or multiplayer options available for every game.

Available games include:
  • The Sims 30: One player gets to become the ‘god’ of a world and build houses or dictate the lives of other players and NPCs within the game as they see fit.
  • Farm Crossing: A farming simulator game where players get to build and manage their own farms. Harvest your crops and tend to your animals! Impress the friendly villagers in the town with your beautiful ranch!
  • Tales of Heroes: A fantasy game where players are reborn into a world of monsters and magic and have to level up by fighting monsters and slaying demons.
  • And many more … (Feel free to design your own VR games.)

Eventually, the sky cruiser will touch down on Incheon Airport. There’s no need to be stuck waiting in line at immigration... it appears as if the Incheon Airport has not been used in decades and seems completely abandoned with the exception of the Outsiders. The old scanning machines and luggage belts are simply collecting dust. Outsiders will be ushered immediately to the nearest train station, where they will continue their journey by train.

▶ 002. WELCOME TO SEOUL.

Once descended from the train ride, they will have arrived in the city of Seoul, South Korea. Similar to Neo Tokyo, a lot of the people on the outskirts moved to this area in order to receive shelter and the benefits of being amongst civilization, rather than fending for themselves. As such, there is a certain hustle and bustle, but considering the state of their dilapidated airports and most of the other cities falling to ruin, there definitely is a more somber vibe to the city. Despite that, the residents carry on and there is no shortage of shopping, food stalls (mostly with foods that are not easy to perish), cafes, pojangmacha to have a late night food or drink at, and many more smaller businesses. The people are resilient and have every single desire to continue making a living. As such the prices here are competitive and Outsiders will find if they look hard enough, there are some fairly good deals to be made. Currency exchange is no issue, as KRYPTOS is the universal currency.

Since a lot of efforts were made to keep Seoul intact, there are still some important sights that were kept up and can be visited if desired. While LILITH urges people to keep their eyes peeled out for any clues to the next kaiju’s whereabouts, Seok Dang may or may not have sent each Outsider a map of the best sightseeing amongst many other not-so-innocent suggestions. He calls it the difference of experiences and “doesn’t want anyone missing out!” If people check back on the message a day later, they will find it was almost as if it didn’t exist at all. On the list, however, includes sights like the Gyeongbokgung Palace, COEX mall and aquarium, Seoul Sky, and many others. However, some of them may or may not exist anymore. How long was he out of the country for? For an extra “freebie” he throws in, Outsiders will find an odd message on their style upgrade saying there is a new outfit available, when opened, it will download a hanbok that they can wear at any time.

"Well, well. Unfortunately, whatever fun could have been planned will need to be halted just a mere two and a half days to get settled. Once again, a message will be produced on everyone’s oculars suggesting an emergency is on the horizon. Guess we better get to that instead of showing you my home country!"

And Seok Dang wonders why he is the Commander's least favorite.

Beep! An alert pops up on the Outsiders' ocular devices. According to the information LILITH just received, there is not just one large kaiju occupying this region, but two. In order to chase both of these leads, Outsiders are split into two groups in order to chase these two kaiju. They have described these kaiju as being very agile and fast, but resembling a serpent from the few sightings that have been spotted. As for the rift that it originated from, there is no sign of a rift in South Korea. Did it migrate here from somewhere else? More details will pour into the Outsider's devices as soon as possible, but for now, Outsiders are called to pursue the hunt.

▶ 003. TEAM SEOUL.
EVERLIGHT & REDEMPTION

Within the next hour, rain will begin to fall upon the city, but this is far from the average summer shower. The precipitation doesn’t seem weather-related as much as it does seem to be a proponent of the kaiju’s abilities. They find this when studying the rain itself, which is acidic to the touch. While the buildings and other structures will remain sound, the people will need to evacuate quickly in order to avoid any lingering effects to the skin. Skin contact with the acid rain will cause both minor and severe burning, depending on how quickly it is rinsed off with normal water. At the first discovery of the acid rain's danger, Outsiders will be commanded to press a button on their plugsuit on the left shoulder, activating an invisible helmet to keep their heads and faces safe.

The Outsiders’ plug suits prevent them from receiving any damages from the rain, but that’s certainly not the case for everyone else. The first team, made up of the members of Everlight and Redemption are to prioritize the initial evacuation of the people, especially those who live slightly outside of the city limits of Seoul. They are the most vulnerable during crises like these and will need to be pulled from their homes, and those who live in the basement shelters will need to be pulled to one higher ground in case of potential flooding with the acid rain. Individuals who have skills in healing will also be called forth in order to tend to the injuries of those who are saved.

Between evacuation, there will also be tidbits of information provided to those on the team that remains in Seoul to check out specific locations in order to figure out more about this kaiju. The first location listed is Gyeongbokgung Palace. Outsiders that remain in Seoul will be utilizing that as their base. They are set to look at any remains the kaiju may have left behind. Any findings are commanded to be surrendered to LILITH. Emergency response of South Korea will use this palace as a safe haven, providing cots for sleeping overnight and other emergency supplies.

▶ 004. TEAM BUSAN.
BRIMSTONE & REVELATION

The second team will depart via train on a journey to the city of Busan. The journey is expected to take 2 hours, and while there are comfortable seats available on the train, any luxuries beyond that are minimal. At least LILITH has brought along a few VR headsets for whoever wants to kill time with games or bad movies? Anyone can sit where they'd like for this ride.

An hour into the trip, a loud crash is suddenly heard, with the entire train rocking and falling to its side. This causes a complete blackout throughout the train and it stops functioning completely, leaving Outsiders stranded within the pitch black tunnel. The train system is completely inoperable in this condition. Outsiders will need to make their own journey to the city, following the rails by foot and helping any Outsiders who happened to be injured in the crash. It’ll be dark within the tunnel, but light will soon emerge once they exit it, and they will find themselves at the foot of Mount Geumjeong.

From then on, they’ll need to put their trekking skills to the test and cross the mountainous, forested region, where they will encounter various local fauna such as snakes, deer and black bears. They will also spot many destroyed villages and temples on their way to Busan. However, evidence of the Kaiju can be found in both the subway tunnel and throughout the mountain trek, suggesting that the kaiju has moved through here. This encourages LILITH to keep Outsiders in this area. The Outsiders will need to make a campsite in one of the destroyed villages, though emergency response will also pay them a visit several days later with sleeping cots and emergency supplies. In the meantime, hopefully they brought enough food with them or know how to forage and hunt for food in the wilderness. Some of those berries out there are poisonous....

The team here will be encouraged to explore the area to find further traces of the kaiju and help any villagers who are still alive.

▶ 005. STATUS REPORT.

Promptly, at the same time, all Outsiders will receive a text message and be put in an encrypted chat-room: OPERATION: RED/BLUE
CODENAME:
LOCATION:
STATUS:
FINDINGS:

Outsiders are instructed to fill out this information and send it into the chat to communicate with one another.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our second travel log!

Characters do have ASSIGNED SEATS for the duration of their flight to Incheon airport, though there are just enough empty seats that some characters can move around if they really don't like their seat buddies. Teams BRIMSTONE and REVELATION will be traveling to Busan, while teams EVERLIGHT and REDEMPTION will be staying in Seoul.

RNG below to discover what your character will find in both Seoul and Busan respectively. For the STATUS REPORT Prompt, treat it as an open chat room for all Outsiders and respond to the HEADER COMMENT. Feel free to threadjack and discuss among yourselves. You may also include this as a text prompt in your top level if you would like for people just to reply to you instead of using the header comment.

All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards August AC.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. WINGING IT: Characters are told to head to the hangar for DISPATCH to SOUTH KOREA where reports of a kaiju have been seen. Characters sit in their assigned seats for a short air travel ride.

2. WELCOME TO SEOUL: We arrive in Seoul and are given orders to split into two teams: Everlight & Redemption in Seoul, Brimstone & Revelation in Busan. Seok Dang has tried to sneak in some sight seeing in between mission briefs, but it looks like there won't be much time for that, as two kaiju have been found in South Korea.

3. TEAM SEOUL: Everlight & Redemption deal with acid rain in Seoul, ushering civilians to refuge, tending to acidic burns and using Gyeongbokgung Palace as a makeshift base. Investigation hints at the kaiju being somewhere in this area as Outsiders find claws, teeth, droppings and other things that belong to a dragon-like creature.

4. TEAM BUSAN: Brimstone & Revelation board a train to Busan which has an outage, trapping them to travel along the tunnel in the dark. They arrive at the end of the tunnel at the foot of Mount Geumjeong and create a makeshift base in the village there. Investigation hints at the kaiju being somewhere in this area as Outsiders find claws, teeth, droppings and other things that belong to a dragon-like creature.

5. STATUS REPORT: Outsiders are encouraged to share their findings and speculations on the kaiju in an encrypted chat room.

zauneyete: (Pointing out your flaws)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-08-08 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ He watches the creature go with a small, irrational ping of disappointment.

Silco liked monsters, after all, though it is different when they can rend him to nothing. The perils of being without power, but that was a concern for later, wasn't it? Something he was already letting his mind twist and turn in his head like a puzzle. The how was the question, but he knew he'd figure it out soon enough.
]

Supposedly, we are here to save them all from the Kaiju. [ He said, his tone airy, but annoyed. ] And yet, we're given little in the moment to do so. Instead, we're asked to... "work together" to do so, and without anything to speak of for support.

Thus far, there have been no weapons, little supplies...

It does feel a bit like they are trying to keep us desperate, to see what we will do.

[ His tone, of course, sounds like he's not pleased. ]

I don't think it makes me rather amenable to help, hm?
gorb: (cxli.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-08-08 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose it must work on some people. The camaraderie, the heroics.

( It exhausts Geto, but that might simply because he's so used to being abused for his power. He had left behind the last power that tried to take advantage, and yet here he is again, once more in servitude. It itches under his skin, the expectation, the very same floundering feeling he'd felt as a teenager. At least he is not so desperate to prove himself now. )

I do wonder at their usage of teams. Brimstone seems more likeminded than perhaps is comfortable. Stronger personalities, but less naïve about it. Surely if she wanted our entire control allowing us to group together and share our concerns is a terrible idea.

( He's sure they're listening, he's not certain he cares. )
zauneyete: (touches face)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-08-09 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm.

[ he says, low, even as he tipped his head and looked further into the woods. ] It is interesting that she decided to group some of the... [ A tight smile.] Most forceful of us into one group, but do not discount some outside of it. One in Revelation has a soul that belongs with us in Brimstone, and I know it well.

[ After all, Set and he had... an odd connection. ]

You bring up an interesting thought. This particular group does not seem well-suited to playing along nicely, do they think we could or would not find a reason to forge our own way?

Or is it that they have more control over us than we realize?

[ It was chilling, thinking about it. He remembered that something had forced his hand via the "question" she had asked. Was there more to it? ]
gorb: (cxxxviii.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-08-10 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
( He tips his head to one side, interested. But he doesn't pry. Most of the time Geto keeps himself to himself when it comes to other recruits. It is only through LILITH's interventions that he ever branches out. It galls him a little, if he's honest, to have fallen back on his teenaged behaviour of withdrawal, but that's a thought for another time. Or maybe never, if he's lucky. )

It depends. ( An easy hum, his hands folding into his pockets. ) Brimstone holds several people I have known from home, some I would work better with than others. Maybe it does LILITH good to have us at odds? We're less likely to forge something cohesive that way.

( He tries to think about siding with Toji, but the thought brings with it a wave of sickness so strong he knows if it ever came to it one or the other would die. The younger Zenin too. )

Well, there is the implant. Logically they're always listening in. ( He hasn't ever really thought to bite back his thoughts but maybe there would be some merit to that. ) They've also managed to pull things to the forefront that a lot of us would prefer otherwise. A while back recruits got pulled into each other's memories for example.
zauneyete: (Haughty at the aquarium)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-08-13 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I see. It makes sense, I suppose, that we are more dangerous if we corroborate, and keeping us in close quarters prevents that, hm?

[ He says, with a tightening of his jaw. He'd experienced the implant's force, but to think it's actively listening... Silco doesn't know what it means, or even how. His concept of the world is on the one hand more fantastical and advanced, but on the other hand far more low-tech than this one. To have That level of fidelity with listening in sends a shiver down his spine.

It means he also needs to be careful, were he to consider making moves.
]

Has anyone tested the limits of their surveillance? Any murders committed, any attempts at harm? I wonder if there is a limit to what they will permit, or when they will intervene?

[ Silco's already thinking ahead, of course, as much as he doesn't get it, he's also considering what it means for him, or what he wants, for it to exist. He would have to be careful, and perhaps have to start playing a few steps ahead, with a more subtle hand. ]
gorb: (xvii.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-08-13 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I've seen, but I don't spend much time around that sort.

( He tugs on a sleeve, fussy. It's more likely that he's the wrong one here, but so far Geto has behaved exceptionally well. Beyond picking a fight with Toji, that is. ) They don't outright stop violence between inmates. There have been fights. But usually it ends before it comes to something as permanent as death. That's not to say someone hasn't tried, only I haven't noticed. Our numbers do lessen without warning, though the word on the street is that they're unceremoniously sent home.

( Actually, how would they know if they were being killed off? Much to think about. )

Are you planning to start a killing spree? ( Amused. ) I suppose the woods the woods are a good hiding place.
zauneyete: (Tee hee)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-08-16 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. Oh to be so lucky as to go home.

[ It's automatic, but there's a thread of something in his tone when he says it. Silco has opinions about the moment he left Runeterra from, and he has such plans for an onslaught that nobody would have ever seen. After all, he's been two years removed from holding his daughter's limp body in his arms — it's hard to not blow that out of proportion by now. ]

But, as for the killing... [ He kicked his foot at a log, testing that it was solid, before he sat on it, ostensibly to catch his breath. ]

Please, I'm no psychopath. Deaths should serve purpose, not be wanton.

[ Says Silco, the man whose daughter is a literal terrorist who lives by this rule.

Don't worry about it.
]

Could be any purpose, but I see needless killing as an effort. Though testing limits would be quite the interesting bit of information.
gorb: (ix.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-08-16 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
( That has Geto humming a single tuneless note. It's something he's often thought about himself - death and the reasoning for it. He'd certainly say that each and every one of his had a cause, that contrary to popular belief he has weighed up the lives he's taken. His own impending end too, there was meaning to it. What was the point without? But then, surely those one hundred and twelve souls he dispatched in the very beginning, did they all serve a purpose? Or was that just endless rage? A badly contained break? His need for violence?

He was always cruel with it. He couldn't help that.
)

Well, feel free to try. I won't stop you.

( He crosses his arms over his chest, taps a foot in the underbrush. Whether he means himself or anyone else is a guess. He's still smiling though. )

I am curious as to LILITH's imposed limitations, though. I wonder if there's a way to test them without going to such lengths.
zauneyete: (That good Undercity Backlight)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-08-22 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ Silco laughed, a mean sounding chuckle that escaped with half a breath. ]

Are you offering? I heard killing teammates was frowned upon.

[ He doesn't think Geto actually is, and his tone said as much. He thinks it's a funny thing. After all, after seeing the thing that had been under his control, he would probably need quite a few of the upgrades before he would be able to try, and Silco was anything but hasty with things like this.

One does not plan revenge for close to a decade to then jump at the first sign of an opportunity without reason.
]

I agree with you, though I think that is not surprising. I would like to test them further, and find out where our lines are.

I am, after all, something of a rule breaker, and knowing where they are is just encouragement to find ways to sneak over the line.
gorb: (ix.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-08-22 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, maybe I'd like to see if they'd have it stick.

( He was dying before he got here, he doubts LILITH fixed him out of the kindness of their hearts. ) But ah, maybe you're right. It's not exactly the best way to harbour good relations between teammates. And we all want that, don't we?

( Probably not, knowing the state of Brimstone. )

You could ask around. I'll confess I'm not as prone to extroversion like some of our numbers. I mostly keep myself to myself, so my knowledge of our companions comes only from when LILITH deems it necessary to send us somewhere. ( AKA he broods. ) But I truly would be surprised if you were the first to have these questions.
zauneyete: (rude boy move)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-09-07 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm, no I suppose I would not be. Very rarely are our thoughts that unique, hm?

[ Silco shrugged, but the smile on his face was apparent. ]

Perhaps I'll simply have to bring us together, being a... people person, of a sort.

[ Only where bullying and coercion were concerned, at least, but Silco knew the types in Brimstone, because they are similar to the types he's worked with his entire life. At least for people like this he can speak the language. It can get them somewhere, at least. ]

After all, there's nothing wrong with canvassing the masses, hm? Well, at least amongst those of us in Brimstone. [ A sneer. ] I could do without talking to the rest of them.
gorb: (lxxviii.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-09-08 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't like the rest of the teams?

( Truthfully, Geto finds the majority of Brimstone insufferable, himself included. A part of him takes violent exception to being placed in the same team as Fushiguro Toji. He isn't blind, he knows something is being said there. LILITH is not exactly subtle.

But then again, he doesn't like many people on base, regardless of affiliation.
)
zauneyete: (smug)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-09-09 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really like anybody.

[ He says, bluntly. Silco would be at home with a graphic t-shirt with text on it, really. ]

The exceptions to convention are what I am most interested in, and those in Brimstone thus far have been more... willing to accept the harsh truths.

It means I'm more inclined to listen to what they have to say, even if I dislike them.
gorb: (xxvi.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-09-09 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
( That has Geto laughing, a rueful shake of his head. )

Perhaps that's Brimstones' signifier then. A dislike of the general populace. My daughters' referred to it as being terribly picky, but I think it's more discerning. People have to earn their place. I won't take your dislike to heart, Silco-san, I understand it a little.

( He appreciates a man who understands a hard call either way. )
zauneyete: (I don't know about this)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-09-10 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
They tend to make up their own reasons for why things are, don't they?

[ Weird. Vague way to refer to either Geto's daughters — or daughters in general! — Silco the ever-secretive does not elaborate. lmao.

Though Geto's a smart guy.
]

I agree with you, actually. Even amongst us outsiders, hm? I wonder if the lot of them are used to earning anything.

[ Well. He has opinions about people with power. Don't worry about it. It' can't possibly be weird or messed up. ]
gorb: (l.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-09-10 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
They do, but who can blame them? It's the right of the young.

( Says the twenty-seven year old, like he is somehow ancient. )

Thankfully I've only truly run in to the people who understand a purpose, who have to fight for it. But I keep myself to myself, I imagine the kind you're talking about are out there. Probably in Everlight. ( Not Itadori though, good boy that he is. )
zauneyete: (How dare you??)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-09-13 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ A soft snort. ] Are you not including yourself in that?

[ Boy, look at you. Now look at Silco. He does have the 'dead-eyed stare' of a man on the verge of turning fifty. ]

Purpose is different than earning. Most who have power, who are born with it, expect it. Too few of them know what it is to have to learn to take it. To understand what it is to give something up to achieve it. I have found very few amongst the powerful who understand it. They see it as something one works hard to find, but not something to sacrifice to obtain.

They save the sacrifice for the unworthy.

[ Their "friends" ]
gorb: (xxii.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-09-13 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, you flatter me.

( He's been feeling ancient since he was seventeen. That has some kind of impact. Besides, he spends far too much of his time around ridiculously old, rich fools. The attitude rubs off. )

You prefer knowing someone has worked for their power then? That there was a struggle? You don't like it when something is given too easily. Have you had to grapple for yours, I wonder?
zauneyete: (A shitty smile)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-09-14 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ Silco looked at Geto for a long moment, before he laughed. ]

When I was a boy, I was toiling in a mine, winnowing my hands to the bone and destroying my body and lungs for another man's profit. When I was only slightly older, I ran with a gang, smuggling and thieving our way out from under the thumb of our "betters' to make something for ourselves.

[ He tapped at his scar, where his eye ever stared out. ]

When we became sick of it, and tried to push for our own rights and freedoms, I was given this by someone I once called brother when we failed and he decided to give up our dreams of freedom. I never did. I killed him, and pushed our people further than they ever dreamed they could go.

We live for struggle where I am from. Our children scrounge for food from the dumpsters and garbage from topside, we steal from them just to keep ourselves afloat from their high prices. Our air is so toxic that if we turned off the scrubbers, half the city would collapse for lack of clean air.

[ He smiled. ]

Grapple for it? I toil every day for what little we get, and I'll toil endlessly until we have our due.
gorb: (lxxxii.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-09-14 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
( He is quiet throughout, an air of calm contemplation as he listens. There is something in Silco that Geto recognises in himself, some kind of vengeance that comes about only when one has been pushed too far. A ruthlessness that echoes. While they'd be on separate sides of a fight for survival, he can at least appreciate the sheer determination, the desperation, the willingness. )

And that is why LILITH chose you.

( A hint of a smile, a flash of teeth. He'd wondered. Silco seemed capable but he wasn't like half of the people milling around base. )

Sometimes choices must be made. Sometimes it takes one person to decide that enough is enough, no matter the cost. An inclination to make the hard call is probably useful, for them. I understand you a little better now.

( Head tipping ever so slightly to one side. )

I'd hate people like that too.

( He did. He does. )
zauneyete: (I cannot be clearer)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-09-15 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ A twitch of a smile. ]

I think you're right, of course. Though I enjoy downplaying it for the masses that move about.

I am powerless, after all. It is useful for them to understand this. They talk about the people here as if they deserve protection by us.

[ A scoff. He hates the people here, and yet, he thinks, he would drag them into greatness if necessary. ]

I think they should learn to scramble for power as I do. If I can, then they can. I like to think LILITH is sick of all this helpless civilian act, and would like someone to show them how it is done.

I've been fighting for two years in a war with beings greater than I, and I stood on their level. I killed a god. Perhaps they should learn from me, don't you think?
Edited 2024-09-15 06:42 (UTC)
gorb: (xli.)

[personal profile] gorb 2024-09-15 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, powerless isn't a word I'd use to describe you. There's more to be said for mental strength than people give credit for. You certainly seem like a man who has that.

( Assessing again, interested in Silco more and more. He agrees with his viewpoint perhaps more than he should. The people of Neo Tokyo mean very little to him. Geto is aware he should be doing all that he can for them, but drumming up the energy is harder. If he had a choice he would do nothing.

Let them wipe themselves out.
)

Were you somewhere else before here? From what you've mentioned of your world there is a slight disconnect in your stories. I know of some people here that has happened to. Always at the whims of the powers-that-be.
zauneyete: (Disgust)

[personal profile] zauneyete 2024-09-16 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
[ Silco's smile lifted into something sharp. He doesn't say anything, but Geto hits on something that Silco holds very close to his chest, but that is a key part of his own inner-world. People often underestimate a man like him, especially because he just gets so worked up about what others see as "nothing".

Then again, when one lives with nothing, and is nothing, it's probably not surprising.
]

Often we are, yes. I was in the same land as Set and Tezcatlipoca before arriving here. What's odd is... how the promise of this world is in direct contradiction to what I knew for so long. My world was gone, you understand, when I was in Kenos. I had the possibility of bringing it back, or...destroying the rest of it. Everything. Burn it all down and leave nothing left in its place, and to see what we could make from the ashes, if some were so inclined.

[ Silco has not asked LILITH about his world yet. He knows here — somehow, miraculously, they are free from Oblivion's ever-insistent hunger — and that his world is not gone.

He has not yet asked enough to know that there is a reason to go back yet.

An interesting trifecta.

( A powerful group too. He has no interest in getting on Silco's bad side, but that knowledge is enough to solidify the thought. Because while he hasn't necessarily seen either of the others at the height of their true power, like recognises like. There's a fire burning there, in all three, and Geto has never been one to shove a hand in the flame for the sake of it. )

Can I ask what you would have chosen? To save it? Remake it in your image, perhaps? Or would you have snuffed it out.

( He thinks the answer could be telling. )

Oh, incredibly interesting. And there's little old me to round them out.

[ The faux modesty does not fit him, but with the hand on his chest and the sparkle in a single blue eye, he knows what he is doing. ]

I would have destroyed it all. Let it all rot and fester. [ A tightening on his grip, as he let his hand drop. It drifted toward his pocket again. Silco is a foolish man, but there are some habits that died hard, one of which was keeping that which had been (what he believed to be) his daughter's crystalized soul on his person at all times.

Was it now? He didn't know, but what could he do, but protect it even still? It was all he had left of her. (He thought.)
]

There was nothing of value in any of these worlds. I would have destroyed them, and let them build something from the remains if they so chose. I only had one criteria for whatever new world they made. [ A roll of his shoulders, as if it were a casual thing. ]

That it was wild and free.
