TRAVEL LOG #2
TRAVEL LOG #2
ā¶ 001. WINGING IT.
In the early morning hours of the 1st, Outsiders will receive a rude awakening blaring through their implants. No matter what they do, the alarm will not stop sounding until they are forced to get up. A message will flash through their vision:
ALL OUTSIDERS ARE TO REPORT TO THE HANGAR IMMEDIATELY FOR DEPARTURE
Get up, get dressed in your plugsuit, and itās time to go! Once they report at the hangar, they will be met with a huge spacecraft, large enough to fit at least 80 people. This will be their mode of transport to their next location.

True enough, there are more than enough seats on the LILITH SKY CRUISER to accommodate every Outsider, and to get everyone organized quickly for departure, all Outsiders will receive a seat number. Like any plane, seats are rather cramped and there isnāt much leg room. Once the seatbelt sign is off, Outsiders are free to stand up and move around the cruiser, but they might have to climb over other people or make the whole row stand up to give them room. The aircraft is serviced by robotic stewards serving light snacks of nuts and crackers, and coconut crab kimbap and seaweed soup at meal time. Any characters who use a cloaking device will be instructed to use it during the flight to accommodate the aircraft. Also, any characters who rely on a weapon or anything else (such as a Gundam), it will be loaded onto the cargo of the aircraft.
The flight will take about 2-3 hours. Outsiders may take a nap, chat or try the inflight entertainment available. This inflight entertainment is delivered through a virtual reality headset. Outsiders may pick a selection of AI movies of questionable quality, along with several virtual reality games. There are single player or multiplayer options available for every game.
Available games include:
Eventually, the sky cruiser will touch down on Incheon Airport. Thereās no need to be stuck waiting in line at immigration... it appears as if the Incheon Airport has not been used in decades and seems completely abandoned with the exception of the Outsiders. The old scanning machines and luggage belts are simply collecting dust. Outsiders will be ushered immediately to the nearest train station, where they will continue their journey by train.

"My Angels of Lilith. You are needed once again. We have received distress signals from the neighbouring country of South Korea. Unfortunately, since we have not established data portals in that country, we require you to embark via air. Your aircraft is ready for you and your seats have been assigned. I bid you a safe journey."

ā¶ 002. WELCOME TO SEOUL.
Once descended from the train ride, they will have arrived in the city of Seoul, South Korea. Similar to Neo Tokyo, a lot of the people on the outskirts moved to this area in order to receive shelter and the benefits of being amongst civilization, rather than fending for themselves. As such, there is a certain hustle and bustle, but considering the state of their dilapidated airports and most of the other cities falling to ruin, there definitely is a more somber vibe to the city. Despite that, the residents carry on and there is no shortage of shopping, food stalls (mostly with foods that are not easy to perish), cafes, pojangmacha to have a late night food or drink at, and many more smaller businesses. The people are resilient and have every single desire to continue making a living. As such the prices here are competitive and Outsiders will find if they look hard enough, there are some fairly good deals to be made. Currency exchange is no issue, as KRYPTOS is the universal currency.
Since a lot of efforts were made to keep Seoul intact, there are still some important sights that were kept up and can be visited if desired. While LILITH urges people to keep their eyes peeled out for any clues to the next kaijuās whereabouts, Seok Dang may or may not have sent each Outsider a map of the best sightseeing amongst many other not-so-innocent suggestions. He calls it the difference of experiences and ādoesnāt want anyone missing out!ā If people check back on the message a day later, they will find it was almost as if it didnāt exist at all. On the list, however, includes sights like the Gyeongbokgung Palace, COEX mall and aquarium, Seoul Sky, and many others. However, some of them may or may not exist anymore. How long was he out of the country for? For an extra āfreebieā he throws in, Outsiders will find an odd message on their style upgrade saying there is a new outfit available, when opened, it will download a hanbok that they can wear at any time.

And Seok Dang wonders why he is the Commander's least favorite.
Beep! An alert pops up on the Outsiders' ocular devices. According to the information LILITH just received, there is not just one large kaiju occupying this region, but two. In order to chase both of these leads, Outsiders are split into two groups in order to chase these two kaiju. They have described these kaiju as being very agile and fast, but resembling a serpent from the few sightings that have been spotted. As for the rift that it originated from, there is no sign of a rift in South Korea. Did it migrate here from somewhere else? More details will pour into the Outsider's devices as soon as possible, but for now, Outsiders are called to pursue the hunt.

"Well, well. Unfortunately, whatever fun could have been planned will need to be halted just a mere two and a half days to get settled. Once again, a message will be produced on everyoneās oculars suggesting an emergency is on the horizon. Guess we better get to that instead of showing you my home country!"
And Seok Dang wonders why he is the Commander's least favorite.

ā¶ 003. TEAM SEOUL.
EVERLIGHT & REDEMPTION
Within the next hour, rain will begin to fall upon the city, but this is far from the average summer shower. The precipitation doesnāt seem weather-related as much as it does seem to be a proponent of the kaijuās abilities. They find this when studying the rain itself, which is acidic to the touch. While the buildings and other structures will remain sound, the people will need to evacuate quickly in order to avoid any lingering effects to the skin. Skin contact with the acid rain will cause both minor and severe burning, depending on how quickly it is rinsed off with normal water. At the first discovery of the acid rain's danger, Outsiders will be commanded to press a button on their plugsuit on the left shoulder, activating an invisible helmet to keep their heads and faces safe.
The Outsidersā plug suits prevent them from receiving any damages from the rain, but thatās certainly not the case for everyone else. The first team, made up of the members of Everlight and Redemption are to prioritize the initial evacuation of the people, especially those who live slightly outside of the city limits of Seoul. They are the most vulnerable during crises like these and will need to be pulled from their homes, and those who live in the basement shelters will need to be pulled to one higher ground in case of potential flooding with the acid rain. Individuals who have skills in healing will also be called forth in order to tend to the injuries of those who are saved.
Between evacuation, there will also be tidbits of information provided to those on the team that remains in Seoul to check out specific locations in order to figure out more about this kaiju. The first location listed is Gyeongbokgung Palace. Outsiders that remain in Seoul will be utilizing that as their base. They are set to look at any remains the kaiju may have left behind. Any findings are commanded to be surrendered to LILITH. Emergency response of South Korea will use this palace as a safe haven, providing cots for sleeping overnight and other emergency supplies.

ā¶ 004. TEAM BUSAN.
BRIMSTONE & REVELATION
The second team will depart via train on a journey to the city of Busan. The journey is expected to take 2 hours, and while there are comfortable seats available on the train, any luxuries beyond that are minimal. At least LILITH has brought along a few VR headsets for whoever wants to kill time with games or bad movies? Anyone can sit where they'd like for this ride.
An hour into the trip, a loud crash is suddenly heard, with the entire train rocking and falling to its side. This causes a complete blackout throughout the train and it stops functioning completely, leaving Outsiders stranded within the pitch black tunnel. The train system is completely inoperable in this condition. Outsiders will need to make their own journey to the city, following the rails by foot and helping any Outsiders who happened to be injured in the crash. Itāll be dark within the tunnel, but light will soon emerge once they exit it, and they will find themselves at the foot of Mount Geumjeong.
From then on, theyāll need to put their trekking skills to the test and cross the mountainous, forested region, where they will encounter various local fauna such as snakes, deer and black bears. They will also spot many destroyed villages and temples on their way to Busan. However, evidence of the Kaiju can be found in both the subway tunnel and throughout the mountain trek, suggesting that the kaiju has moved through here. This encourages LILITH to keep Outsiders in this area. The Outsiders will need to make a campsite in one of the destroyed villages, though emergency response will also pay them a visit several days later with sleeping cots and emergency supplies. In the meantime, hopefully they brought enough food with them or know how to forage and hunt for food in the wilderness. Some of those berries out there are poisonous....
The team here will be encouraged to explore the area to find further traces of the kaiju and help any villagers who are still alive.

ā¶ 006. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our second travel log!
Characters do have ASSIGNED SEATS for the duration of their flight to Incheon airport, though there are just enough empty seats that some characters can move around if they really don't like their seat buddies. Teams BRIMSTONE and REVELATION will be traveling to Busan, while teams EVERLIGHT and REDEMPTION will be staying in Seoul.
RNG below to discover what your character will find in both Seoul and Busan respectively. For the STATUS REPORT Prompt, treat it as an open chat room for all Outsiders and respond to the HEADER COMMENT. Feel free to threadjack and discuss among yourselves. You may also include this as a text prompt in your top level if you would like for people just to reply to you instead of using the header comment.
All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards August AC.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. WINGING IT: Characters are told to head to the hangar for DISPATCH to SOUTH KOREA where reports of a kaiju have been seen. Characters sit in their assigned seats for a short air travel ride.
2. WELCOME TO SEOUL: We arrive in Seoul and are given orders to split into two teams: Everlight & Redemption in Seoul, Brimstone & Revelation in Busan. Seok Dang has tried to sneak in some sight seeing in between mission briefs, but it looks like there won't be much time for that, as two kaiju have been found in South Korea.
3. TEAM SEOUL: Everlight & Redemption deal with acid rain in Seoul, ushering civilians to refuge, tending to acidic burns and using Gyeongbokgung Palace as a makeshift base. Investigation hints at the kaiju being somewhere in this area as Outsiders find claws, teeth, droppings and other things that belong to a dragon-like creature.
4. TEAM BUSAN: Brimstone & Revelation board a train to Busan which has an outage, trapping them to travel along the tunnel in the dark. They arrive at the end of the tunnel at the foot of Mount Geumjeong and create a makeshift base in the village there. Investigation hints at the kaiju being somewhere in this area as Outsiders find claws, teeth, droppings and other things that belong to a dragon-like creature.
5. STATUS REPORT: Outsiders are encouraged to share their findings and speculations on the kaiju in an encrypted chat room.
for Elan :3c
The din of screeching metal stops when the train finally comes to a halt, sliding ahead some distance on it's side. Dearka, miraculously, has somehow managed to avoid any major harm. He has some minor cuts here and there from shards of glass that rained down from a few of the busted windows, but he otherwise managed to hold on tight to one of the support bars and just did not let go until the vehicle stopped moving. Not even when gravity shifted, and the floor became a wall, and the other wall became the floor.
So now they're in crisis mode. Exactly what caused the crash is certainly a concern, particularly if the kaiju they're hunting was responsible. That does cross Dearka's mind. But more important is checking on the status of his teammates.
He carefully clambers back down to the new floor in the darkness, wincing and rattled, calling out as he goes.]
Fuck... Can anyone hear me? Is anyone hurt?
no subject
Shit. Just great.
[ He hisses under his breath, shattered glass digging into him as he rolls onto his good side. He manages to get himself to a seated position, right arm clutching the left and breathing sharply. ]
no subject
His eyes are still adjusting to the sudden darkness, and there's chaos all around, making it difficult to get visual confirmation. Dearka peers in the direction he thinks he heard the voice coming from, keeping his eyes peeled for any signs of motion, and keeping his ears open for any reply.]
Elanā? Wait. Shit.
[he started to use the poor guy's deadname out of habit, before remembering it's is no longer an acceptable term of address. Except, the bastard also still hasn't settled on an alternate that name yet, so...??
Dearka shakes his head and settles on the first nickname that pops into his head instead, hoping his fellow pilot will still know he's being addressed somehow.]
Oy, Greenie! Was that you?
no subject
[ Not that he doesn't appreciate Dearka correcting himself, but he's not answering to that! His physical characteristics don't even belong to him anyway. Elan attempts to put on his usual sardonic attitude but he can't keep the strain out of his voice completely or the way he grunts when he tries to gingerly test his arm. He also stays seated where he is, thinking about how fucked they are now that they're stranded without a train. ]
no subject
...No jk it was definitely because of his eye color, sorry Elan, this is what happens when you refuse to choose a new name for yourself. Also, unsurprisingly, Dearka is not deterred or convinced to look elsewhere by his reply.]
Alright, so 'Greenie' is clearly not a hit then, reading you loud and clear... [He starts gingerly picking his way past seats and around fields of broken glass, headed in his direction.] Then I'll just have to come up with something else... How about 'Chuckles' then, since you're so damn hilarious?
[As always, bantering and joking around helps him keep a level head. Which is extra necessary right now, because just then he finally rounds the pair of seats that Elan is sitting behind and scopes the way he's sitting with his arm in an unnatural position.]
...Shit.
no subject
[ Ha ha. Very funny. He kind of wants to sit there and just breathe, but Dearka appears and the change in his attitude makes Elan uncomfortable. Bracing himself with his good arm, Elan gingerly gets to his feet. He grins sharply and forces himself to sound nonchalant. ]
Too bad it's still attached. If I lost a limb no one would mistake me for someone else again!
[ Unfunny joke, maybe, but he's in pain and allowed to indulge in dark humor. ]
no subject
Alright, one:
[He holds up one finger.]
Pretty sure no one on this team is mistaking you for anyone else as is.
[You're the only Elan here, buddy. No one in this world knows who the fuck the "real" Elan Ceres is anyway.]
Two:
[He holds up two fingers.]
If you'd lost an arm, you'd be at risk of bleeding out in minutes, and I'd have a way harder time keeping you alive. At least whatever's wrong with you right now isn't about to kill you.
[Great bedside manner, Dearka! He cocks his head and lets his hand drop back to his side.]
Mind if I take a look? I've got some basic first aid training. I might be able to help.
no subject
[ Though he's putting on an air of nonchalance, there's an edge of resentment to his voice. Like wow, once again, LILITH's poorly planned expedition has gone to shit! Elan seems more keen on venting than getting his injury looked at but he does step forward in silent concession. ]
no subject
Man, you've got to stop making these depressing points that I can't counter and already kind of agreed with. It's really starting to bum me out.
[His tone is still joking, but that was honestly one of the first thoughts he had when he found out that every outsider here was just a "duplicate" of a sort. And he had similar thoughts AGAIN when he found out that the outsiders also sometimes just, disappear permanently from the base, entirely without warning? It's hard not to feel like they're being treated as second class and disposable, with shit like that going on.
Dearka steps around to Elan's side and very carefully examines his shoulder, his ZAFT training and his Tad* training both kicking in. It doesn't take him long to reach a likely diagnosis, but just to be sure...]
Does your arm feel tingly or numb at all?
[A "yes" will pretty much confirm his suspicions.
*Tad is his daddy, who's a doctor.]
no subject
Yeah, turns out all those body enhancements don't do anything for broken bones! Tell me how bad it is. You can be honest.
no subject
You know that is kind of fucked up actually, I mean if they were going to do all that shit to you they could've at least given you some reinforced bones or something for the trouble...
[Is he allowed to make that joke? Hopefully! If not... Oh well!]
...Wouldn't have helped you in this case anyway, 'cause nothing's broken, far as I can tell. You do have a dislocated shoulder though. See--?
[He steps back a little and points at the area, tracing without actually touching as he mansplains the details, just in case Elan's not familiar with what that actually means.]
Your shoulder must've gotten jarred in the crash hard enough that it popped the ball joint at the upper end of your arm out of the socket at your shoulder. It's probably straining or pinching some nerves too, which would explain the numbness. Hurts like a bitch, but you could be a lot worse off: unlike a broken bone, I can actually just fix this, if you'll permit me.
no subject
Anyways, okay. Dearka's assessment. It all sounds plausible and a more thorough explanation than he would have expected. ]
You actually sound like you know this stuff. [ He remarks with an exaggerated hum of surprise. He's difficult on a normal day, so it's no surprise he makes a difficult patient, but maybe he should watch his mouth around someone who's about to set his shoulder. ] Just checking. You've done this sort of thing before, right?
[ Right?? ]
no subject
[And especially when you have a Coordinator's propensity for memorizing little details.
All of that is in response to Elan's comment that he sounds like he knows what he's talking about... But he's hesitating on answering the actual question. He sighs and shrugs loosely with one hand, leveling with him:]
Look, I'll be honest with you: I learned how to reset a shoulder as a part of my basic field medicine training while I was going through ZAFT academy, but I've never had an opportunity to actually apply what I learned. If that worries you, I won't force you to let me do it. But I am pretty fucking confident I can pull it off.
[...]
...The procedure that is. Not your arm. Bad choice of words, heh.
no subject
[ He facepalms with his uninjured hand when Dearka drags the answer out only to say he hasn't actually set an arm before. Elan's feeling not so fucking confident about letting him mess with his body, but it doesn't change his decision. Pragmatically, they're stranded in the middle of god knows where and he won't be seeing a real doctor anytime soon. He exhales and waves his good arm dismissively. ]
Just do it. It's not like you can make it much worse! Only watch that weird supersoldier strength of yours. I'd like to keep my arm, thanks!
no subject
[Normally, Dearka would actually be just a tiny bit prickly about anyone talking about coordinators in such terms? Anything that equates them to being, like, unnaturally strong freaks of science or "others" them in any way automatically trends a little too close to the rhetoric that chased them all up to the PLANTs in the first place. But in some strange way, Elan feels sort of like a kindred spirit in that regard? So. He gets a pass.
Also sorry bud, but he's gonna have to get up in your grill a little to do this.]
Here goes nothing...
[He moves behind Elan and braces one hand on his good shoulder, carefully gripping his bad arm just above the elbow. Dearka's voice pipes up then; it might feel kind of awkwardly intimate, hearing him that close and from behind, but he's all business about it.]
Probably easier said than done, but it's best if you try and relax your shoulder and neck muscles for this... Should help make it hurt less.
no subject
Elan does the opposite of relax when Dearka gets close up and personal, and Dearka might feel him tensing up in his hold. He's had his body prodded and poked at enough that he's touchy about anyone messing with it even for his own benefit. Asking him to relax is a bit of a tall order, and he scoffs. ]
What's your deal then? You're clearly not average soldiers from an average military, unless ZAFT put you through some kind of training bootcamp from hell. [ Apparently relaxing for him is to keep yammering as a distraction, but he does drop his shoulders in an attempt to loosen up. ] Just get it over with.
no subject
Alright then, here goes...
[Dearka inhales. His grip tightens, holding Elan in place at his good shoulder while slowly and firmly raising, extending and rotating that busted arm for him; from what he recalls, the idea is to keep the patient from jerking or flinching away while the ball joint is naturally guided back into its socket by the motion. But he has to do it slowly, and carefully, or he could cause further nerve and/or muscle damage.
Unfortunately that means this is probably going to be at least 30 seconds or so of Elan being in severe pain, while Dearka grits his teeth and pretends he that he isn't so he can keep nattering on about bullshit as a distraction.]
ZAFT training wasn't anything out of the ordinary for a military boot-camp, really. [He's looked into how the Earth Forces do their training as well, and it really isn't majorly different in essence.] Our "deal" is that we're coordinators, second generation; me and Yzak both. Our parents were genetically modified before birth, and then they passed all the good shit down to us, so... We take to physical conditioning better, we think faster, we have better reflexes, and we don't get sick. That's kind of the situation in a nutshell.
no subject
Dearka's words become background noise the moment he begins work on his shoulder. Shutting his eyes lets him focus on the sound of the other's voice, but even that isn't enough to distract from what feels like his arm being twisted off. Does this bastard really know what he's doing?!
Elan tries not to let his knees buck and his good arm shoots out to brace himself against anything he can reach. His breath comes out in strained hisses but otherwise he bears the pain stoically. Dearka never said how long it would take and 30 seconds is feeling like a goddamn eternity. ]
no subject
The good news is: right around when Dearka finishes talking, it does slot right back into place with a small 'pop!'
It should instantly feel a thousand percent better. Still sore, of course, but he'll be able to move it like normal without experiencing severe pain. And Dearka immediately goes hands off, taking a step back to give the poor guy some breathing room.]
You alright? Can you move it now?
no subject
I'm not convinced you weren't trying to break my arm off.
[ He's back to bitching so he's fine?? ]
no subject
Hey, if I was trying to break your arm, you'd know it; there's at least seven different methods I know that would've been way more efficient.
no subject
How reassuring to know. I'll keep that in mind if I ever need to get up to some limb-breaking.
[ Anyways, they're done here, and should probably get going before whatever stopped the train comes back to flatten them permanently. ]
no subject
Eh, pass. It's pretty far off from being my favorite way to pass time, to be honest.
[They SHOULD get moving. Dearka wants to do a quick check around and make sure there aren't any other injured people who might need assistance before they group back up and start looking for a way out of here...
