TRAVEL LOG #2
TRAVEL LOG #2
▶ 001. WINGING IT.
In the early morning hours of the 1st, Outsiders will receive a rude awakening blaring through their implants. No matter what they do, the alarm will not stop sounding until they are forced to get up. A message will flash through their vision:
ALL OUTSIDERS ARE TO REPORT TO THE HANGAR IMMEDIATELY FOR DEPARTURE
Get up, get dressed in your plugsuit, and it’s time to go! Once they report at the hangar, they will be met with a huge spacecraft, large enough to fit at least 80 people. This will be their mode of transport to their next location.

True enough, there are more than enough seats on the LILITH SKY CRUISER to accommodate every Outsider, and to get everyone organized quickly for departure, all Outsiders will receive a seat number. Like any plane, seats are rather cramped and there isn’t much leg room. Once the seatbelt sign is off, Outsiders are free to stand up and move around the cruiser, but they might have to climb over other people or make the whole row stand up to give them room. The aircraft is serviced by robotic stewards serving light snacks of nuts and crackers, and coconut crab kimbap and seaweed soup at meal time. Any characters who use a cloaking device will be instructed to use it during the flight to accommodate the aircraft. Also, any characters who rely on a weapon or anything else (such as a Gundam), it will be loaded onto the cargo of the aircraft.
The flight will take about 2-3 hours. Outsiders may take a nap, chat or try the inflight entertainment available. This inflight entertainment is delivered through a virtual reality headset. Outsiders may pick a selection of AI movies of questionable quality, along with several virtual reality games. There are single player or multiplayer options available for every game.
Available games include:
Eventually, the sky cruiser will touch down on Incheon Airport. There’s no need to be stuck waiting in line at immigration... it appears as if the Incheon Airport has not been used in decades and seems completely abandoned with the exception of the Outsiders. The old scanning machines and luggage belts are simply collecting dust. Outsiders will be ushered immediately to the nearest train station, where they will continue their journey by train.

"My Angels of Lilith. You are needed once again. We have received distress signals from the neighbouring country of South Korea. Unfortunately, since we have not established data portals in that country, we require you to embark via air. Your aircraft is ready for you and your seats have been assigned. I bid you a safe journey."

- Tales of Heroes: A fantasy game where players are reborn into a world of monsters and magic and have to level up by fighting monsters and slaying demons.
- And many more … (Feel free to design your own VR games.)

▶ 002. WELCOME TO SEOUL.
Once descended from the train ride, they will have arrived in the city of Seoul, South Korea. Similar to Neo Tokyo, a lot of the people on the outskirts moved to this area in order to receive shelter and the benefits of being amongst civilization, rather than fending for themselves. As such, there is a certain hustle and bustle, but considering the state of their dilapidated airports and most of the other cities falling to ruin, there definitely is a more somber vibe to the city. Despite that, the residents carry on and there is no shortage of shopping, food stalls (mostly with foods that are not easy to perish), cafes, pojangmacha to have a late night food or drink at, and many more smaller businesses. The people are resilient and have every single desire to continue making a living. As such the prices here are competitive and Outsiders will find if they look hard enough, there are some fairly good deals to be made. Currency exchange is no issue, as KRYPTOS is the universal currency.
Since a lot of efforts were made to keep Seoul intact, there are still some important sights that were kept up and can be visited if desired. While LILITH urges people to keep their eyes peeled out for any clues to the next kaiju’s whereabouts, Seok Dang may or may not have sent each Outsider a map of the best sightseeing amongst many other not-so-innocent suggestions. He calls it the difference of experiences and “doesn’t want anyone missing out!” If people check back on the message a day later, they will find it was almost as if it didn’t exist at all. On the list, however, includes sights like the Gyeongbokgung Palace, COEX mall and aquarium, Seoul Sky, and many others. However, some of them may or may not exist anymore. How long was he out of the country for? For an extra “freebie” he throws in, Outsiders will find an odd message on their style upgrade saying there is a new outfit available, when opened, it will download a hanbok that they can wear at any time.

And Seok Dang wonders why he is the Commander's least favorite.
Beep! An alert pops up on the Outsiders' ocular devices. According to the information LILITH just received, there is not just one large kaiju occupying this region, but two. In order to chase both of these leads, Outsiders are split into two groups in order to chase these two kaiju. They have described these kaiju as being very agile and fast, but resembling a serpent from the few sightings that have been spotted. As for the rift that it originated from, there is no sign of a rift in South Korea. Did it migrate here from somewhere else? More details will pour into the Outsider's devices as soon as possible, but for now, Outsiders are called to pursue the hunt.

"Well, well. Unfortunately, whatever fun could have been planned will need to be halted just a mere two and a half days to get settled. Once again, a message will be produced on everyone’s oculars suggesting an emergency is on the horizon. Guess we better get to that instead of showing you my home country!"
And Seok Dang wonders why he is the Commander's least favorite.

▶ 003. TEAM SEOUL.
EVERLIGHT & REDEMPTION
Within the next hour, rain will begin to fall upon the city, but this is far from the average summer shower. The precipitation doesn’t seem weather-related as much as it does seem to be a proponent of the kaiju’s abilities. They find this when studying the rain itself, which is acidic to the touch. While the buildings and other structures will remain sound, the people will need to evacuate quickly in order to avoid any lingering effects to the skin. Skin contact with the acid rain will cause both minor and severe burning, depending on how quickly it is rinsed off with normal water. At the first discovery of the acid rain's danger, Outsiders will be commanded to press a button on their plugsuit on the left shoulder, activating an invisible helmet to keep their heads and faces safe.
The Outsiders’ plug suits prevent them from receiving any damages from the rain, but that’s certainly not the case for everyone else. The first team, made up of the members of Everlight and Redemption are to prioritize the initial evacuation of the people, especially those who live slightly outside of the city limits of Seoul. They are the most vulnerable during crises like these and will need to be pulled from their homes, and those who live in the basement shelters will need to be pulled to one higher ground in case of potential flooding with the acid rain. Individuals who have skills in healing will also be called forth in order to tend to the injuries of those who are saved.
Between evacuation, there will also be tidbits of information provided to those on the team that remains in Seoul to check out specific locations in order to figure out more about this kaiju. The first location listed is Gyeongbokgung Palace. Outsiders that remain in Seoul will be utilizing that as their base. They are set to look at any remains the kaiju may have left behind. Any findings are commanded to be surrendered to LILITH. Emergency response of South Korea will use this palace as a safe haven, providing cots for sleeping overnight and other emergency supplies.

▶ 004. TEAM BUSAN.
BRIMSTONE & REVELATION
The second team will depart via train on a journey to the city of Busan. The journey is expected to take 2 hours, and while there are comfortable seats available on the train, any luxuries beyond that are minimal. At least LILITH has brought along a few VR headsets for whoever wants to kill time with games or bad movies? Anyone can sit where they'd like for this ride.
An hour into the trip, a loud crash is suddenly heard, with the entire train rocking and falling to its side. This causes a complete blackout throughout the train and it stops functioning completely, leaving Outsiders stranded within the pitch black tunnel. The train system is completely inoperable in this condition. Outsiders will need to make their own journey to the city, following the rails by foot and helping any Outsiders who happened to be injured in the crash. It’ll be dark within the tunnel, but light will soon emerge once they exit it, and they will find themselves at the foot of Mount Geumjeong.
From then on, they’ll need to put their trekking skills to the test and cross the mountainous, forested region, where they will encounter various local fauna such as snakes, deer and black bears. They will also spot many destroyed villages and temples on their way to Busan. However, evidence of the Kaiju can be found in both the subway tunnel and throughout the mountain trek, suggesting that the kaiju has moved through here. This encourages LILITH to keep Outsiders in this area. The Outsiders will need to make a campsite in one of the destroyed villages, though emergency response will also pay them a visit several days later with sleeping cots and emergency supplies. In the meantime, hopefully they brought enough food with them or know how to forage and hunt for food in the wilderness. Some of those berries out there are poisonous....
The team here will be encouraged to explore the area to find further traces of the kaiju and help any villagers who are still alive.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our second travel log!
Characters do have ASSIGNED SEATS for the duration of their flight to Incheon airport, though there are just enough empty seats that some characters can move around if they really don't like their seat buddies. Teams BRIMSTONE and REVELATION will be traveling to Busan, while teams EVERLIGHT and REDEMPTION will be staying in Seoul.
RNG below to discover what your character will find in both Seoul and Busan respectively. For the STATUS REPORT Prompt, treat it as an open chat room for all Outsiders and respond to the HEADER COMMENT. Feel free to threadjack and discuss among yourselves. You may also include this as a text prompt in your top level if you would like for people just to reply to you instead of using the header comment.
All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards August AC.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. WINGING IT: Characters are told to head to the hangar for DISPATCH to SOUTH KOREA where reports of a kaiju have been seen. Characters sit in their assigned seats for a short air travel ride.
2. WELCOME TO SEOUL: We arrive in Seoul and are given orders to split into two teams: Everlight & Redemption in Seoul, Brimstone & Revelation in Busan. Seok Dang has tried to sneak in some sight seeing in between mission briefs, but it looks like there won't be much time for that, as two kaiju have been found in South Korea.
3. TEAM SEOUL: Everlight & Redemption deal with acid rain in Seoul, ushering civilians to refuge, tending to acidic burns and using Gyeongbokgung Palace as a makeshift base. Investigation hints at the kaiju being somewhere in this area as Outsiders find claws, teeth, droppings and other things that belong to a dragon-like creature.
4. TEAM BUSAN: Brimstone & Revelation board a train to Busan which has an outage, trapping them to travel along the tunnel in the dark. They arrive at the end of the tunnel at the foot of Mount Geumjeong and create a makeshift base in the village there. Investigation hints at the kaiju being somewhere in this area as Outsiders find claws, teeth, droppings and other things that belong to a dragon-like creature.
5. STATUS REPORT: Outsiders are encouraged to share their findings and speculations on the kaiju in an encrypted chat room.

[After all, how can they aid the people of this city if they're malnourished and worn out? It'd be pretty stupid to let themselves get down to that level. Though Yato can't help chuckling a bit at "groovy." Ah, it makes him nostalgic for the 60s and 70s. ...well, maybe not the fashion.]
Yeah, we did pretty good all things considered, though it's damn difficult to protect people when they don't have gear like us. You'd think LILITH would've provided some kind of protective coverings made of the same material as our plugsuits. Umbrellas, something!
no subject
Me and Tsurumaru had to break into a store to help house people so I really hope LILITH will take the responsibility for that, I do not have enough double-dollars to soothe a pissed off business owner. Wait, no. Kryptos. Either way I don't have it. ( And he feels GUILTY about it. That's someone's livelihood. ) I wanted to lend people my plugsuit but then I guess it could only really help one person? Tomorrow better be easier.
( Hopefully not famous last words though. )
Everyone seems to be doing okay though.
no subject
I imagine they will. [He hopes.] If not, maybe they can at least furnish us with the supplies necessary to fix the door ourselves. I know how to change a lock, for what it's worth. [And if LILITH decides they have to cover the cost themselves, then perhaps they can solicit other Outsiders' help. People who've been here longer.] Yeah, and then you'd leave yourself exposed, which isn't good either.
I think tomorrow will be better, though- we've gotten ourselves established and saved a lot of people. All that's left is to finish rescuing any stragglers and take down the kaiju.
no subject
He tilts his head where it's resting back against the wall, looking the other man's way. )
I wonder what these ones will be like. The kaiju, I mean. The crabs were fine, but having a whole bunch of people like us feels like overkill for something like that. And people are genuinely afraid of them, so they have to be pretty tough. The pieces we keep finding look pretty intense too.
( Something to chew on. He's used to being ill-prepared for a firefight but it feels a lot like there's more to risk here. )
no subject
Regarding Vash with something of a small smile, he nods slightly.]
Well, we know a little bit about them so far. One's reptilian with large blue scales, horns and claws. The other has white fur and claws, and may lay eggs? It's not a whole lot of information, but it's better than nothing. We also know they're violent due to a number of bodies being discovered near their parts, although it's possible they're just territorial and reacting to invaders of their space.
Whatever the case, we'll need to be careful and try to move in a coordinated fashion so nobody gets cornered by them.
[They may be better equipped to handle the kaiju than the locals, but that doesn't mean they should let their guard down.]
no subject
( He nods at that plan, thoughtful. )
Hopefully we can get a close enough look without any damage. Especially if we're not sure if they're violent or not. I really wouldn't want to pick a fight with something just trying to keep living, you know? ( Because that sucks. ) That doesn't seem fair.
no subject
[Especially if the kaiju feel cornered. Nothing fights as fiercely as an animal backed into a corner.]
No, I feel ya there. Better we evaluate the situation first and make sure what we're dealing with is hostile outright rather than simply trying to protect itself. We could avoid a lot of trouble if it just wants to get to the wilderness or something. Besides, we don't know if they're any less natural than animals, do we?
[Even if they come from rifts, that doesn't make them inherently unnatural. They could simply be lost and confused creatures.]
no subject
I guess everywhere you go you get someone desperate. ( Because while he understands on some level that it can be greed, he always tries to frame it in a kinder way. Probably the reason Nai spent so much of his time angry at Vash, too willing to forgive even the harshest of slights. ) Oh, that's right. I don't know much about the how's and the why's of the Kaiju. Are they not from around here?
no subject
That's true. So long as there's strife and conflict and need, there'll always be those struggling for better or more. [He used to see things in a harsher light as well, but over the past year or two he's really come around to thinking better of people rather than jumping to the most negative conclusion.] It's kind of still a mystery from what I understand. We know they enter this world through rifts that come from somewhere but as far as I know, nobody's sure how or why or where from.
no subject
( Potentially that might be due to several things, either LILITH's hand or his own. He hadn't really listened to any of the explanations though, his heart hammering away in his throat, desperate against the cage of his ribs. He'd half expected a trick, or his brother looming out of the shadows. There wasn't much room for taking everything in. )
But if they're not native that might explain all of the attacks, right? They're as out of the water as the rest of us. ( And as someone who's always been considered an outsider he feels a weird kind of kinship with the kaiju. ) That must be hard.
no subject
[It seems rather unfair to expect them to absorb so much information upon finding out they've been kidnapped from their own worlds and thrust into a war with monsters that they have no clue about. Maybe they can take the orientation a second time just as a refresher.]
That's what I was thinking - that they just might want to go home, too. In which case it seems kinda cruel to hunt them down. But I suppose we do have to keep people safe from their attacks first and foremost. These people are innocent too, even if LILITH isn't. [At least now Yato knows he might have one person on his side if he opts to try subduing kaiju instead of killing them outright.] Ideally I hope they find a way to send the kaiju back home, but I dunno how feasible that is right now.
no subject
( Though maybe not as many as they needed, and presumably not the higher powered people they have in their ranks. Vash can see the reasoning, but he doesn't like it. People deserved the choice. )
Well, if there are rifts they must be two ways, right? ( He thinks of his Gate, an unfortunate shudder passing through him. He's glad the connection seems dormant here though he hasn't tried very hard to activate it, too afraid of the outcome. ) If kaiju can come through they can be sent home again? That makes sense. I don't know why that isn't the first option.
no subject
[And sometimes they seem to have snagged non-combatants like his friend Hiyori, who while she is a doctor, doesn't have much in the way of battle skills. Not anymore, anyway. That part pisses him off.]
That'd be my assumption, yeah. It's not outside the bounds of reason that they're pulling our chain regarding being able to be sent home, so that's why they don't get rid of the kaiju that way. There's just too many unknowns. I don't like it. I want more transparency from them, but I doubt we'll get it.
no subject
( Though why they'd want him with his penchant for destruction is anyone's guess. The Humanoid Typhoon isn't necessarily the first choice he'd make. )
I wonder if anyone before us have asked. Or tried to anyway. I guess they know our concerns either way, they put those things in our head, right? They can probably hear us right now.
( Which, gross. Vash rubs at his eye a little, too conscious of it. )
Which, gross. I don't like that.
no subject
[Better that than the alternative of them yanking in random civilians, that's for damn sure.]
I'd be amazed if nobody hasn't. Though like you I'm not keen on the notion of them spying on our every move and conversation all the damn time. Like, what if they watch people in the bathroom?!
[The thought of LILITH spying on certain individuals (really just one) has him gritting his teeth in frustration and shaking his fist at the ceiling. Thankfully he still keeps his voice reasonably low.]
You stay away from my precious angel, punks!
[Priorities. He has them.]
no subject
( But at that outburst, Vash's face does a little spasm of something, currently more amused than outright concerned. Who hasn't wanted to shake their fist at the sky? )
Whu -? Wait! Who's your precious angel?
( Drop the deets! )
no subject
[Since in a way they kinda are like prisoners here to a degree. Now it makes him wonder if he can't put his points or whatever they earn towards sending someone else home first. And speaking of that someone...]
Hiyori Iki! My sweet darling of a goddess--! These cruel people have seen fit to drag her here after she'd just started getting her life in order and it drives me mad!
[Melodramatic, much? Though given what they're facing, can he really be blamed for not wanting a friend to be here?]
no subject
( But Vash isn't sure he particularly wants to be sent back. That's a complicated can of worms that has his shoulders drooping a little, expression going ever so slightly far away. It doesn't linger, not when Yato continues, and a new sudden energy blooms to life, gaze focused and eager. )
I know Hiyori! We got shaved ice together, aw man that's so cool you're both really great people and you know each other? Neat. ( But then, sly. ) Do I detect some romance? I don't know if you know this but I'm a connoisseur of love! I can feel it.
( And then he just wiggles, like that's helpful and punctuates what he's saying. )
no subject
[He offers his palm up for the gesture, grinning all the while. He could be a professional nuisance, too, if he put his mind to it! Though he can't quite help his eyes widening at hearing Vash already knows about Hiyori. He really shouldn't be surprised, given she's so helpful and kind, but it's great to hear she's settling in and making friends too, just like him.]
Alright! Isn't she awesome? We're actually from the same world, though she's from like ten years ahead of me... [Which is something of a convoluted topic, one he doesn't wish to go into either. Maybe they both can just focus on the happier points. Even if it does make him blush a bit.] O-Oh really? Well... Yeah. We're kinda... testing the waters, so to speak.
[He laughs at Vash's enthusiasm, nodding.] This isn't exactly the best place to pursue love, but I don't want to miss this chance, y'know?
no subject
( He is quite clearly delighted about this prospect, which might seem strange considering Vash doesn't know either of them very well but still. He thinks people deserve happiness and if they can get that here then they should grab it with both hands. )
No, absolutely. You're so right. You're both here and there's time and things to do together. Ah, that's so cool. And now I know if I ever find cheese buns I need to come to both of you!
no subject
[Just for that he's going to get a gentle elbow nudge. They may not be the bestest of friends yet, but he'd still consider Vash one all the same. Enough so that he's confessing his feelings for Hiyori, anyway. That's saying something considering their romantic status is kinda ???]
You get it! We can't be working all the time-- having fun with friends is important, too! Hell, we should go out to eat, all three of us. That'd be a blast!
no subject
( He's been doing so badly about making himself eat, but the prospect of doing so with other people certainly helps. If someone else is going with it would just be strange not to. )
Once we get back to base, you, me, Hiyori, we'll do something fun! Because she was real nice at the fair and I absolutely planned to hang out with both of you again! Two birds, y'know?
no subject
Two birds, one donut, am I right? Hehehe. Sounds like a good plan, though! The two of us need to relax some too, and doing so with a friend would make it even more worthwhile.
no subject
Yeah! ( Brightly, and then a more sincere smile. ) I'm really happy for you, Yato. You and Hiyori both. There should always be good things in life. Even in a place like this.
no subject
Thanks... [He offers that word genuinely, with a smile of his own.] I hope you're not excluding yourself from that category. You're just as deserving of having a happy life as anyone else.
