The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.
Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Korea’s resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.
LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.
However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didn’t track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugi’s nest. So where is the Imugi?
Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITH’s Korean base is destroyed.
The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.
LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.
▶ AFTERWORD.
Thanks everyone for participating in our first major Event Decision! We hope you had fun discussing what to do both ICly and OOCly.
After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.
All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards August AC.
so, what is LILITH’s response to the outsiders for this on the personnel side? will we get reprimands? congratulations? the dreaded “i’m not angry just disappointed”?
Concerned but largely indifferent. Of course, there will be some people who are more invested and will have stronger feelings but in the end, they have their own problems to worry about.
Ereshkigal is determined to stay behind to ensure everyone who died will receive proper funerary rite by the local traditions. Of course, that's an impossible task, but will she be allowed to stay a while or will she be forcefully kicked out (and how will it go if they force her)?
Hypothetically. Theoretically. What if someone were to request one of the eggs? To hatch and attempt to see if an Imugi can be raised as a good noodle?
Secondly, will the Imugi be available in the Simulation Room by the time the Outsiders get back and can/will Seok Dang scale the city down to diorama size for said simulation if say, someone wanted to prove a point to themselves about size mattering or not as self therapy?
1. These eggs are dangerous so LILITH will not let anyone have an egg at this time. 2. All previously recorded kaiju are available in the simulation so the Imugi will be available. More information will be in the TDM.
if someone is feeling particularly spicy after this mission are there any dangerous/risky/life threatening things to do in and around neo-tokyo that a person could engage in if they looked hard enough?
Given that law enforcement is scarce in Neo-Tokyo, there are plenty of illegal and dangerous activities a person could engage in if they simply know where to look. Though most people get their rocks off in VR these days, plenty of in-person thrill seeking activities still exist, as do fighting rings, high stakes gambling dens, unregulated drugs, and dangerous medical procedures.
We'll leave the specifics up to you so long as they fit with the setting and aren't game-breaking.
HEY AGAIN MODS sorry to be coming back to ask questions on an event that's basically wrapped... Yzak's player and I are back-tagging some kaiju fight drama since we were both pretty busy for a lot of August.
ANYWAY, the situation: Dearka got pretty hurt in the initial Busan fight against the female Imugi, his Buster got uhhhh... Busted up. His leg broke, he got thrashed around and concussed. We've threaded that he's had some nanobot healing courtesy of Raidou, so he's conscious again and his leg's not fucked anymore by the time the Busan team is back in Seoul for voting. But what I wanted to check is if you guys had any guidance on how LILITH would handle putting Dearka back on duty for the pursuit of the escaped kaiju. Would they even want him to go? Would they insist on it? He's functional, but I'm figuring he's still not in the best shape since he did sustain life-threatening injuries, and his mobile suit needs repairs that I assume will have to wait until they're back in Tokyo.
Sorry if this a nitpicky question I just didn't want to make any assumptions about the attitudes/policies of the NPCs. Thanks in advance!
If he's so hurt that he can't continue or he'd be a hinderance, he could stay behind in Seoul but then then he wouldn't be able to participate in the update log in person because he'd be separated from everyone else. If you want to do this route, we can say he had to recover in one of the hospitals in Seoul. After the attack, he was taken care of by medical staff but the government officials were quick to kick him out and LILITH had to rush to airlift him back with the others. They would take his damaged Buster with them. He could be accompanied by a few other LILITH Japan NPCs.
If you want him to participate in the update log in person, you could say he was forced to come along but taken care of by some field medics along the way. They could keep him to a support role on the backlines. They know he almost died so they wouldn't force him back into active duty.
That's super helpful, thanks guys! Appreciate the multiple options too :3b
I'm figuring he's at least mobile enough to not be a hindrance and might insist on going along anyway, I just wasn't sure how strict LILITH would be with him in either direction.
I also wanted to ask if this would have any affect on his mandatory participation in the events mentioned in the latest TDM, but I'm happy to move that question over to the tdm itself for visibility/organization if preferred!
