The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.
Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Koreaโs resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.
LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.
However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didnโt track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugiโs nest. So where is the Imugi?
Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITHโs Korean base is destroyed.
The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.
LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.
โถ AFTERWORD.
Thanks everyone for participating in our first major Event Decision! We hope you had fun discussing what to do both ICly and OOCly.
After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

[ With her hands empty, Marcille idly rubs her fingertips and nails. Fidgeting. She looks off to a corner of the room. ]
I know it's too late— [ She breathes in sharply. ] That it's pointless to regret it now. We had the best intentions in the end, right? All of us. Why were we the ones who had to decide anyway?
Maybe so we could take all the blame if it went bad.
[ she's very cynical about these kind of things though. if the higher ups made the choice for them, then they could point the finger up if things went as they did. instead, they can only look at themselves in the mirror. ]
It's harsh though. 'Abandoned humanity' - give me a break.
[ Maki will bite into the bun in the in-between, savoring the rich juicy taste. It's like sand on her tongue all the same. ]
It's awful. [ she can come up with a lot of reasons why going after the kaiju was the right move in her eyes, even with the consequences and death toll in mind. but rationalizing it doesn't change that hundreds of thousands are dead. ] But it isn't all on us. I don't care what the Korea branch says about us. None of us wanted this outcome.
[ That seems to get a little bit of emphasis from Marcille when she otherwise seemed spent. ]
We had to make a really hard decision in a really short amount of time. No one knew what would've happened. We may not have been able to help Seoul either!
[ a small hum of agreement as she takes another bite and chews it up a little fast. ]
We were given information and had to make a choice.
[ she didn't like being painted as heartless for wanting to go after the kaiju, and she hates that the people who wanted to stay behind might think it's a good idea to gloat about it. ]
...It still sucks. [ understatement, pitiful one really. ] I don't think I'll sleep well for the next few nights.
[ she watches marcille braiding her hair and wishes for a moment that she had longer hair again. maki would tug on her ponytail privately when she felt a little too stressed, a little reminder of the way her father would-- well, no, stop thinking about that.
maki offers the bun back to marcille, only a couple bites taken out. ]
Eat.
[ it doesn't even occur to her in the moment someone wouldn't want food she already bit. ]
[ It doesn't occur to Marcille either, who regards the offer with surprise but can't seem to take her eyes from it.
The surprise eases away. She just said they should eat, and she is hungry, even if she may not stomach the food for long. She presses her lips together, hesitating before she takes the bun with both hands. ]
...Thanks.
[ Girl it was your bun in the first place... but she takes a small bite anyway. If she let it rest on her tongue a second too long, she may not have swallowed it down. ]
I'm not much of a fighter, but I want to get stronger after this. That feels like the best thing we can do for everyone.
[ a shrug- ] I'm sure there are things you can do even without fighting.
[ not that she's a shining example of that, but she knows well her days would have been numbered without shoko to heal her. or ui ui's strange teleportation technique to rescue them off the field. ]
If you want to try building muscle, I can help you out. I've done it for my classmates before.
[ The offer is a little surprise, but Maki's had her fair share of battles, hasn't she? Her physique seems fairly strong, though she isn't a tall-man like Laios or Falin. Marcille could learn a lot from her. ]
I've trained with a few other people before, but I'll never say no to more lessons. Now more than ever, I think. [ She leans in a little, intrigued. ] What kind of school did you go to?
[ in the most technical sense, he was her teacher. but she doesn't think of him as one, because it never occurred to her to ask others to help her grow stronger. ]
But yeah, Yuji is in the year below me. We don't take classes together, but I've helped train him in physical combat.

That's why we're here, right? So LILITH can fight to save everyone. Now we have the eggs, so they can't hatch where we won't be able to find them.
[ She sniffs. She's not crying, though. She's probably all cried out for the moment. ]
So many people, though...

I haven't been sleeping well for the past few nights either. I don't think anyone has, really...
[ She bites her lip. ]
But we have to, right? And we should eat too. It's just hard.

If you know a guy my age named Yuji, he goes to the same place. Or if you've been unlucky to meet Gojo, he teaches there.

[ it bugs her because he's obviously not doing well, but she can only try to pull for so long. he probably has other people he's more honest with. ]
