The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.
Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Koreaโs resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.
LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.
However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didnโt track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugiโs nest. So where is the Imugi?
Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITHโs Korean base is destroyed.
The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.
LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.

After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

[ Nanami doesn't see how throwing blame around on the network will do any good in the aftermath. of course it's easy to cry 'I told you so' when there is no way to know how things would have turned out had they picked the other option. it could have gone just as badly, and some time later, they would have had to deal with the hatched kaiju on top of everything.

[ A part of Yuji can't blame them. He still blames himself for what happened in Shibuya even with the months of being told otherwise and a literal court case saying he was innocent, so this... He can't fault people for wanting to blame the people who were prepared to fight rather than defend. They really had imagined it was the best decision.
No one can predict the future, and the fact that he can't change the past is a painful reality.
The touch to his shoulder makes him turn his head back to Nanami, and he breathes out softly. ]

They do seem to have noble intentions but after that mission outcome and your friends... Let's keep an eye on their actions for a while before we decide, hm?

[ Yuji doesn't think he deserves the gentle sympathy and kindness that Nanami is giving him, not with how twisted up and confused his emotions are right now. It's too easy to blame himself, especially with everything that's happened, with all the soreness in his body and his heart.
But he can't ignore it, either. For months, he had missed this man, had been desperate to see him again, to share his burdens and try to do better, so actually having him here? Yuji can't shrug off the need for approval, to show how much stronger he's become, the way that he wants to show Nanami what kind of person he had become. He had carried the weight of his burdens, he had listened to those final words and had taken them to heart.
Rolling over on the bed, he wraps his fingers around the little plastic tiger, eyes damp as he lifts it up to look at it.

[ Sliding off the bed, he wraps his arms around the other man, pressing his face into his neck as he shakes. ]
[ he doesn't know what he's done to earn this kind of trust and affection from the young sorcerer. the younger sorcerers respect him, sure, but he doesn't really see himself having any larger impact on any of their lives - with perhaps the exception of Ino. but even with him, Nanami doesn't think he's done anything special.

[ It's a little strange, to be so desperate for comfort from this man, to lean into Nanami's strong body and let himself feel safe. Yuji doesn't mind being the one on the front lines, doesn't care about risking himself to protect others, and he knows there are people that want to take care of him outside this too, but...
Nanami is special - one of the first people to see him and accept him as a sorcerer, to protect him, to see him as a boy rather than a weapon or a vessel. He can't forget that, no matter how long it has been since he lost him.
[ Nanami still doesn't have the full picture of what's happened since Shibuya. the small fragments he's gathered here and there aren't very reassuring; neither is Itadori's obvious desire for more strength and power.

[ Yuji is still going to be a crybaby, still going to be a little pathetic with it, but he can't help himself, not when he is so filled with emotion and so surrounded by the people that he loves so, so desperately. He adores them, and the way his heart lurches with the desperate need to protect them isn't something he can ignore either.
Leaning in, he presses his face against Nanami and lets himself breath, just a little. ]
[ Nanami hums softly in agreement. of course there's no way they can be certain but it's less about certainty than it is about comfort right now. so he holds the bravest boy he knows, runs a soothing hand down Yuji's back and pets his hair gently.
since he's never been the kind of person to have ideals or a higher purpose in life, it's not as if he's lost that much by being pulled into this world. (or so he tells himself. or perhaps the loss isn't as apparent thanks to the presence of the few people who mean the world to him. Nanami won't coddle others too much but he can and will lie to himself.)
