▶ OUTCOME: BURNING BRIDGES

The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.

Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Korea’s resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.

LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.

However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didn’t track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugi’s nest. So where is the Imugi?

Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITH’s Korean base is destroyed.

The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.

LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.

After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

[Honestly, if the intention was to cheer him up, it's working quite well. It's the sort of little gesture that Yato himself might use to spread good vibes. He's a little jealous he didn't think of it himself. Not that he has the funds to really splurge, yet.]

[He claps his hands together. A smile, a laugh. Elation abound. People have died, but all you can do is keep going, and laugh.]

Then that makes two of us!

[That's the joy of giving - it brings both the recipient and giver pleasure. And seeing this guy so pleased, buoys the feeling Yato already got from the gift. Something they both likely needed in the wake of everything.]

No problem, Sampo. I'm Yato, God of Fortune. That's luck-fortune, not money-fortune.

[The DRASTIC change in expression from a sparkly-eyed awe to something more vaguely disappointed when he hears that this fortune is NOT money-fortune is definitely. There. But still, he brightens up almost instantly - a man of many faces, after all.]

Ah, and here you had my hopes up...still! Luck goes a long, long way. And...a god? Wow. Like, for real?

[Sorry my man, but your god here is a perpetually broke loser in a lot of ways. No chance of a quick windfall where he's concerned. But Yato doesn't let the change in expression bother him, instead nodding proudly.]

Hah, sorry! And seriously! I may just be a minor god now, but I'm still one all the same! I can teleport and everything!

Teleportation? Not bad, not bad, but like...gods are known for like, miracles and stuff, right?

[A little tilt of the head.]

Do you throw around luck spells or something?

[Oh boy... Now he gets to reveal just how much of an embarrassment he is as a god. Dammit.]

Hehe... Nothing quite like that. Each god has their own skills, mine is... more towards relationships in a way? I can cut people's ties with one another if a person is negatively influencing another, like if someone is being bullied or harassed at work. Or if you happen to start dating a god of poverty, I can spare you her influence. Things like that.

Why would I EVER date a god of poverty? I mean, I'm in poverty already! I can't do that!

The one I know doesn't exactly go around announcing who she is, so sometimes guys get suckered into dating her for a while before her luck catches up to them.

[He considers that a moment, then nods.]

Oh man, I wish. It tends to never work out for me for the most part, unfortunately. Though this past year my luck has been slowly turning around, so maybe there's hope yet!

Who knows? It's a good question. Maybe because all the luck I would've had goes to other people? I mean, that'd make sense, right?
