The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.
Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Koreaβs resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.
LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.
However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didnβt track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugiβs nest. So where is the Imugi?
Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITHβs Korean base is destroyed.
The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.
LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.
βΆ AFTERWORD.
Thanks everyone for participating in our first major Event Decision! We hope you had fun discussing what to do both ICly and OOCly.
After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

[ Yuji wonders what would happen if they didn't have each other. Katsuki would shut down, lean into his anger, perhaps, lashing out at the others and falling into the trap of the person he appears to be when you don't know him deeper. Yuji would turn into himself, into that sadness and bitterness, locking it all away and letting himself be dragged down into his sadness and pain... It's good that they have one another, that they have someone that they can turn to.
Yuji's well aware that he has Choso, he has Raidou, too, and Gojo and Nanami, but there's something special about the understanding that he and Katsuki share, the honesty that he has offered him, the way that he can say what he thinks without worry about having to explain or some kind of judgement. He trusts the others with everything that he has, but there's something about the way that Katsuki reads him, as if he's a familiar book, that's hard to compare with.
He's going to try to be more honest in future, but the threat of burdening the people he loves... That's a little too much for him to handle.
Leaning in, he keeps petting at Katsuki's hair, letting his nails scratch gently at his scalp, trying to be soothing, caring. He can be the strong one now, he can be the one to make sure his best friend is alright, that someone who means so much to him is able to find hope once again. They can offer a hand to one another and find a way to walk through the darkness and find the light once more.
Nodding, he smiles softly, though it's fragile and wavering, eyes still damp. ]
We'll see if we can get some nice flowers, then. Some for all of us. [ He keeps holding on to his friend, letting him stay close, even if he's ruining his clothes. He doesn't care; as long as his friend feels better, that's what matters to him. ] And then we can visit it, when we need to remember. It won't be enough to make up for it all, but it's something, isn't it?
[ Yuji closes his eyes, bowing his head. ]
Katsuki... Please don't leave me.
[ Don't go home. Not right now. Not with the threat of LILITH preying on them. Not when he needs him more than ever. ]
[Both of them into a prison of their own making, covering it up with their external lives. Explosions, chains, like a little ball of blood with sweat in the center. Katsuki's so seldom had someone reach out to him in his hardest moments. The last time someone did that, it created a gulf between them for ten years, his pride swarming into a seething loathing for his childhood friend who dared to offer his hand to help. Now, as Yuji reaches for him, he takes his hand, knowing the cost of what might happen if he refused it. Becoming again that prideful loner who didn't need anyone inside his glass tower.
There are others he has who could and will help. Denji, his partner. Raidou, his close friend. People like Yuwon and Yato whose relationships with him grow stronger each time. But Yuji's unique among them, someone who's seen pieces of Katsuki he hasn't shown anyone else. Who knows the struggle of fighting against something so heavy it threatens to break. Yuji doesn't look at him and see a hero who needs to be strong and perfect. He knows him enough that he can show the other boy his weakness and pain, knowing he won't be looked at with disappointment or seen as weak and losing. Someone who can support him. Incomparable.
Blunt edges run across his head, combing through the soft blonde spikes. A shuddering breath ghosts across Yuji's collar, heavy with the ache of his chest. Pieces of armor slowly begin to return, fitting back into place, while knowing there's no keeping the other boy out. He's already inside, propping up Katsuki from within. Resting on him, against him, slowly regaining the feel of his legs and the strength to stand once more. He needs to become strong again, so he can offer the same back to Yuji.]
Mugunghwa. [Whispered into Yuji's collar. Each passing minute continues to offer another gentle caress of calm over his body and soul, brought by his friend's presence and touch. Slowly but surely helping him come down from the distressing emotions. His frustrated tears have mostly stopped, though a few leak every now and then.] It's Korea's national flower.
[Hardy. Pretty. Something they would have loved to see. Something that will remember them. No, it won't be enough to make it up to them, but it is something. They won't be forgotten, they'll be with them when they go forward.] Aa. We won't forget.
[He rest his head in the crux of Yuji's neck. Those quiet words bring a fresh wave of pain to his chest. Don't leave me. How can he promise not to when Megumi and Nobara were whisked away, when Izuku was taken without a word? He can't control if and when it happens. The ache and anger come back as he wraps his arms around Yuji and holds on. Tight. Hard. Locking to him.]
I promise... I won't leave you, Yuji.
[He doesn't care if it's a promise that he might not have the power to keep. He'll make it. He'll fight as hard as possible to keep himself from being taken away. No matter what happens.]
[ It's really not fair for him to ask that of Katsuki, and Yuji knows it. Deep down, it's a cruel thing to make someone else promise - to stay, to not disappear in a world where they have no control over those things. Yuji knows that it's not really a promise that any of them are able to keep, but he appreciates the fact that Katsuki is willing to make it anyway.
He'd make the same promise without hesitation, even if he doesn't have the power to keep it.
Yuji doesn't want to give up on this place, on all the people that need their help, the things that he can do to help the civilians, but the truth remains that there is so much left for him to do. He and Katsuki are united on that front, on the understanding of one another and the responsibilities that they're holding so close to their hearts. It's that understanding that makes their friendship all the more special.
Stroking his hand down Katsuki's back, he sighs softly. ]
Me too. I promise too.
[ Closing his eyes, he squeezes Katsuki a little closer to himself. ]
Do you want to stay over? You can, if you want to.
[He doesn't care if it's fair or not. Making the promise to Yuji isn't hard at all. The words come off his tongue with a the same resolve he carries to be a hero. Is it cruel? Yes, in a pessimistic way. No, in a hopeful way that focuses less on the ability to keep it and more on the reason why he gives it. Even if they both know they have no control over whether they stay or leave, promising to stay is Katsuki's way of telling Yuji how important he is to him.
He'll defy logic itself if it means staying beside this boy.
There are so many things here Katsuki's come to value and want to keep. He arrived with the intention of never getting attached, never growing sentimental about anything in this world. Now he has people, feelings, memories that he wants to save, a purpose that he can only do here. Even if there are things to do at home, at the very least, he can accept the reality it's "on pause" for them, and take comfort in the fact. So he can focus on this place, on Yuji, on his friends.
He exhales slowly, reaching up to rub the back of Yuji's neck in a gentle caress, no longer clinging to him desperately, but holding on in a slow drift back to a quiet, comfortable rest. The storm's breaking apart.]
Thanks. [Hearing Yuji promise makes him feel better, a weight lifting in his chest. As the other boy holds him close, Katsuki leans into him.] Aa... Let me spend the night.
You can borrow some of my clothes, or use the style upgrade.
[ Yuji has enough casual sweatpants and random other pieces here and there that he had gathered for Choso that he can spare some for Katsuki. If there was more that he could do to make things better, he would do it. He's been living in this room for the last few days with enough snacks and access to water to get by, but he knows that after this he and Katsuki are going to have to get out of here.
They can't just wallow away in here forever. They've still got things to do, and there are other people that are going to need them in the future.
Mourning can happen for now, but...
Yuji shifts, holding Katsuki against his body, stroking his fingers through his hair, against the shape of his spine, and he lets himself relax and try and calm down, to let himself breathe through the pain. They have each other, and that'll do for now. Eventually, Choso will come home and the three of them can take care of one another. ]
[And after that shitshow of people being stuck in maid outfits, he's never going to get the shitty upgrade. Leaving his clothes in the ultimate hands of that emotional dumbass is not happening. He'll stick to dressing himself, thanks. Yuji's preference for sweats works in tandem with Katsuki's own liking. Honestly, crashing in what he's wearing right now is fine. Lightweight lounge pants and tank top. Yuji's already done so much to make things better.
Though really, Katsuki should invest in a personal burner and mini fridge for his best friend. It's nice to be able to cook in your own room without having to mess with other people bumbling around or going out to eat. Or in this case, living off snacks... They have lives to continue to live, people who still need help regardless of how many times they trip and stumble. Wasting away and dying to repay those people isn't the answer. That's the easy way out. It's much harder, yet stronger to live for them instead.
Sadness rests over them now, but both Yuji and Katsuki know full well how tragedy eventually gives way to life again. They'll bear the scars and weight of this forever, but can't let it choke their future with regret.
He leans fully against Yuji's body, head resting on his shoulder and arms settled around his lower back. Fingers comb through his hair, drawing a slow exhale against the sorcerer's neck. Comforting. Katsuki settles, sorrow and frustration and rage calming to a gentle somber they can combat by being together. No promises he'll even be awake when Choso returns. Probably sleeping on Yuji's bed, one arm thrown protectively over his best friend if he's able.]
Thanks, Yuji. [Quiet, but sincere.] For helping me.
