Update

โ–ท DECISION UPDATE

โ–ถ OUTCOME: BURNING BRIDGES
The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.

Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Koreaโ€™s resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.

LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.

However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didnโ€™t track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugiโ€™s nest. So where is the Imugi?

Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITHโ€™s Korean base is destroyed.

The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.

LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.

โ–ถ AFTERWORD.
Thanks everyone for participating in our first major Event Decision! We hope you had fun discussing what to do both ICly and OOCly.

After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards August AC.

[ Elan looks up at Manjoume and scoffs a little. Thanks, friend, but he's good. ]

I'm not losing sleep over it. I'm the last person to have far-flung ambitions of saving everyone.

[ They're in the apocalypse and he's no hero. He doesn't take that much responsibility on himself. ]

Though it would be a lie if I said I wasn't annoyed that we got screwed over after sticking our necks out.

[ After all the effort they put in, they ended up standing on a pile of rubble. He can only be glad they didn't get buried with the rest of it. ]

Good. Glad we get to skip having that kind of talk about a hero complex or something in response to not being able to save everyone, because that shit tires me out.

[Trust him, he speaks from experience on that one. After a moment, Manjoume takes a seat next to Elan here as he continues.]

But yeah, we sure did end up being made to look like the bad guys in all this, after having gone to the effort of going there to help them. Lilith needs to hire better PR managers.

They should hire better engineers while they're at it! We wouldn't constantly be in a mess if their technology didn't keep failing.

[ The implant glitches last time had already been bad. He hopes someone is getting fired for tracking the wrong signal. ]

You sound like you had a speech ready to go. Who did you have to talk sense into?

[ There's probably others around base who could use it, but in Elan's case, he's more than willing to leave the heroics to others. ]

You'd think that given they have the technology to bring us all here, that they'd know how to track the correct signals easily by comparison, but apparently not.

[As for who Manjoume has been having to give "speeches" to, there's really only been one person, but the person in question will probably get pissy about it if they find out Manjoume named them here. Not that it's hard to guess who Manjoume would have spoken to, when he does answer.]

Who else but the one with the most explosive hero complex here?

[ Please, there are a dozen people with hero complexes... But 'explosive' gives him a hint. He won't say who though. He's sure all the hero types are beating themselves up enough as it is. ]

Hopefully this means people will think twice before charging in recklessly. Too many here lack a sense of self-preservation. What's with that?

[ Look, he just doesn't get the shounen genre. ]

It's the idea that as long as they manage to save someone or defeat the monster, it doesn't really matter what happens to themselves in the process. It's a worthwhile trade by comparison to anyone else being in danger... or so I assume they're thinking, anyway.

[Manjoume may be from the shounen genre, but he was never meant to play the part of a hero or anything like that. He's seen how that life and those expectations can end up destroying a person, so he's not eager to start adopting that way of thinking even if he's expected to protect people here.]

That's the kind of thinking that has them running to implant sketchy technologies into themselves. It doesn't sit well with me that LILITH is exploiting their self-sacrificial nature.

[ Especially when LILITH couldn't give a damn about Outsider lives in return. Those types are way too virtuous to even hold it against them. He sighs and returns his phone to his pocket. ]

Yeah. It's certainly why I've never gotten those implants, even if it would be useful to be able to heal faster or the like.

[Manjoume has, however, been looking at some of the items and weapons to consider potentially buying recently after this recent failure with the kaiju. But he hasn't gone through with actually purchasing anything just yet.]

Watching people give up their bodies seriously ticks me off. We should be thinking of ways to fight while minimizing injuries in the first place! All it does is encourage reckless decisions like going after the dragon.

[ Thanks Manjoume for being one of the sensible ones. The upgrades creep Elan out and he's been wanting to rant about it for a while. ]

[Manjoume, being considered sensible? Truly we are in hell.]

It'd be one thing if these implants were being provided under more trustworthy circumstances: you know, like we actually a choice being here and fighting rather than seeking these things out of desperation to make sure we don't get ourselves killed out here. But well, they're not, so I'm not interested in taking the risk on getting one, regardless of how helpful they might or might not be.

[ No go on, he speaks truth! Manjoume's skepticism is refreshing to Elan. There should be more people willing to question things around here. ]

Exactly. There's no telling whether those things are even safe. Considering how many glitches and malfunctions we've had including this latest fiasco, their tech shouldn't be trusted at all.
