Update

ā–· DECISION UPDATE

ā–¶ OUTCOME: BURNING BRIDGES
The decision has been made. LILITH Japan orders the Outsiders to mobilize to pursue the Imugi.

Given that they are in a foreign country, they are largely dependent on LILITH Korea’s resources. In response to the decision, the Korean branch provides some assistance: the Outsiders are given just enough vehicles to help transport them, essential supplies, and only a few operatives to help guide them. This is the most the Korean branch is able to give, as they must focus on relocating people and restoring peace following the attack.

LILITH announces that the Imugi is currently resting near Gangneung on the east coast and they must move quickly. The effects of Rift poisoning will grow stronger as they approach the source; a sign that they are close to a kaiju. Upon reaching the mountains just outside the city, LILITH informs them that they are right on top of its location.

However, there is no Imugi to be found. After searching the area, Outsiders will discover the source of the trace and the poisoning: eggs. They will find about twelve eggs. When they report their findings, Seokdang will curse. In their rush, they had followed the wrong trace. They didn’t track down an injured and resting Imugi—they tracked down the Imugi’s nest. So where is the Imugi?

Not long after, Outsiders will receive an update on their implants: the Imugi reappeared in Seoul. After seeing the corpse of its mate, it went berserk and attacked the city again. While many of the citizens were evacuated to nearby Incheon and remaining shelters, just as many perished, with the death toll at 168,000 and rising. LILITH’s Korean base is destroyed.

The Imugi was last seen flying north, but the Korean government prohibits the Outsiders from pursuing it again through their territory. By choosing to pursue the kaiju, the Outsiders have abandoned humanity and thus will receive no further support. They are ordered to leave the country immediately.

LILITH Japan will order them to collect as many eggs as possible and continue to the abandoned city of Gangneung, where they will arrange pick up and return to base in Tokyo.

ā–¶ AFTERWORD.
Thanks everyone for participating in our first major Event Decision! We hope you had fun discussing what to do both ICly and OOCly.

After failing to capture the second Imugi and also failing to save a large portion of Seoul's population, characters will be shipped back to Japan. The events of the TDM will springboard from there. Feel free to use this post to thread out any aftermath threads if you would like.

All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards August AC.

( to enter a god's dwelling... izou gives the room at most a cursory glance, far too used to people's mechanical trinkets to give the goldfish much thought. it's pretty similar to one of those vacuum gadgets or whatever, yeah? and damn near everyone's got those.

he rubs a calloused finger against the casing of this cigarette, and then... much like an animal would, sniffs it a couple times for good measure. just in case, as if that's going to give him any vital information from the get-go, quizzical in an odd way and not an ounce of shame to tell him that he ought to accept it more gracefully. )

... Maybe.

( it is. it is absolutely is a different story for him, and he's not too good at hiding it. well. he'd be shit at it even if he were sober. )

Just don't feel right for them to be, makin' an ass out of us... out of me when I'm doin' my damnedest out here. They think I don't, give a shit... that we weren't on top of stuff?

( he runs the smoke under his nose for a whiff, taking a moment to consider his next set of words before holding it out and waiting for a light.)

Maybe they don't see us as much outside of our abilities, though... all these branches. Sure, they provide shelter, and... care and shit, but I'm not just some... nobody dyin' for humanity out there. I got a name, and desires, and that's more than... more than half of 'em can say.

[ Izou’s wariness around the offered gift isn’t a surprise, but Tezcatlipoca still huffs out a note of a laugh all the same. He’d take some offense if it were almost anyone else, but since it’s a Servant of Chaldea, he just lazily chides him. ]

What, you questionin’ a god’s gift? I ain’t the sneaky type that way, don’t worry.

[ This, of course, is extremely ironic considering he’ll end up the Grand Assassin… But that’s his future (hilarious) responsibility, not the current, so. He grabs one for himself and tucks it between his lips while he listens to Izou and tucks the case away again.

In terms of his own pantheon’s way of doing things, he’d never really liked how the World managed to steal away souls for its own purposes. In some belief systems, it’d probably be a relief, or, hell, an upgrade, but the endless duty of being a Heroic Spirit had never sounded all that great to him. Mictlan was a harsh place, sure, but it was still a journey that ended. All souls that passed through the underworld of his people would eventually find their way back to the Root and find true peace… And any soul notable enough to become a Heroic Spirit was surely in need of it. At least, in his view.

But the empathy he has for it isn’t something he expresses, naturally. The only sign of it is his calm, harder to read expression rather than the sharp almost-grin that he usually wears. He doesn’t respond immediately, waiting until they’ve stepped out onto what’s now become one of the smoker’s balconies before offering the light and his answer. ]

Well, I figure not. Wouldn’t call us ā€œOutsidersā€ if they were all that interested in who they’d grabbed. Least home had the decency for somethin’ grandiose like ā€œHeroic Spiritsā€.

[ we don’t talk about ā€œServantā€ as a term, though, ]

But I don’t disagree. My view on things is gonna be different from, well, anyone else’s, I’m gonna assume, but still think that the warriors doin’ the work are worthy of respect.
