TRAVEL LOG #3
TRAVEL LOG #3
▶ 001. TARGU MURES AIRPORT.
In the early morning of the 1st, Outsiders will receive a message in their oculars.

True enough, a SPECIAL ALERT will blare through the implants shortly after, asking those who would be willing to help with a distress call to head to the hangar. The reward will be an additional bonus pay, as this seems to be different from detecting a kaiju. There, they will see a familiar sight: the LILITH SKY CRUISER, a spacecraft capable of carrying 80 passengers. There is little time for seat assignments, so seating will be on a first come, first serve basis (hopefully you don’t get the middle seat!) and the flight will last about 10 hours. Just like any aircraft, Outsiders may stand up and walk around once the seatbelt signs turn off. There is inflight entertainment consisting of AI movies or virtual reality games (see TRAVEL LOG #2). Characters with inhuman features are required to wear their cloaking devices.
The plane will touch down at Targu Mures Airport, Transylvania, Romania, which appears to be abandoned and desolate. There isn’t a living soul to be found.

There isn’t a data portal in Romania, and there’s just no way to transport the number of cars needed for over 60 people via plane. Let’s hope you managed to get proper rest on the way here, because the hike will take about 5-6 hours through the dense forest, with the Captain feeding directions through the ocular based on where the kaiju readings are most pronounced.
All teams will be traveling together along a treacherous terrain which will include both harmful flora & fauna. Outsiders can expect to come across brown bears, wolves, European lynx, golden jackal & wild boars. Although the forest is dense, these animals are scarce to come by, but they can appear, especially when the hike takes place at dusk and into the night.
In this time of the year, hay fever is a common occurrence in these forests. Those sensitive to pollen may be sneezing and feeling fatigue through this hike. There will be steep hills, slippery ground and eerie sounds of the night to serenade the Outsiders. It doesn't help that the further they travel, the thicker a dark fog gathers around them, making the surroundings difficult to make out. Everyone will be provided with flashlights, but those with abilities to see in the dark or cast their own light will be encouraged to lead small groups. Everyone is going in the same general direction, but giving each other some space might be helpful. There will be no time to rest, no matter how tired Outsiders may be.
Just when it feels like they might need to trek through the forest forever—is that smoke coming from a fire up ahead?
"Oh, seriously? You’re putting this on my plate now when I have so much to do? Tch … Outsiders currently caring for Imugi eggs, bring them to the medical bay. I’ll take over for now. Captain Yamakawa needs everyone to report to the hangar right away. There’s been a distress call from a distant land and we’re noticing some strange readings. We need you to go investigate this.
…Put some catnip on my plate, Alex. It’ll be a long night."

"Most of the country was destroyed decades ago, so there shouldn’t be anyone still living here. Yet, these readings ….. And we can’t ignore that call for help. We’ll need to investigate further. My Angels, go the rest of the way on foot..."

▶ 002. BRAȘOV, TRANSYLVANIA.
Wander further through the bushes, and behold, it does appear to be smoke—but not from any natural fire. It’s coming from a chimney! The Outsiders will stumble upon the historic region of Brașov, known for its Gothic architecture and medieval towns. Romania has been classified as a desolate region for a very long time, and as far as LILITH is concerned, this city should be completely destroyed and abandoned. Yet, there is smoke coming from the chimneys, fresh laundry hanging on lines and the faint chatter of children playing. There are very clearly people living here, and this has LILITH completely dumbfounded.

One thing Outsiders will notice when they step into the town is how it appears to be lost in time. The date is still 2278 as far as anyone knows, but there’s no sign of any modern technology—no computers, telephones, or any sign of electricity or plumbing. Each and every house looks like it could have been plucked right out of the 1700s, and there even appear to be horse-drawn carriages parked along the pavements.
The townspeople themselves also look plucked out of time, with the women donning petticoats and aprons, and the men sporting waistcoats and riding boots. They welcome the Outsiders with warmth, delight, and over-the-top hospitality; more than happy to show the visitors around Brasov on their carriages. With how rarely they meet anyone from outside the village, the children are full of curiosity, following the Outsiders around and poking at their technology while bombarding them with questions, such as where did you come from? Do you know how to play any games? What do you like to eat?
Outsiders will be presented with food, clean clothing, and a room to stay at the village inns (2-3 people per room). They are free to roam and explore the village, where they will find taverns, fresh food markets, shops, inns, and a church dedicated to the village god.
One notable aspect of the town is the fact that they appear to have fresh, non-lab grown food. The vegetables taste fresher and are vibrant in color. The meat tastes much richer than it would back in Neo Tokyo. This is owed to the fact that the people of Brasov actually tend to their own farmlands, a lost practice in these times. Venture a little out of the city and you’ll find it: acres of farmland, growing wheat, corn, oats, potatoes, grapes and sunflowers. They even have livestock!
The people of Brasov are more than happy to answer questions about their town and way of living. Outsiders who go around gathering information from the villagers will learn the following:
"So it’s true … The resilience of humanity cannot be understated. I’ll need to report this to the Commander right away. My Angels, embark on the town. We need to find the source of this distress call and investigate these kaiju readings. I know we’ve had setbacks recently, but I’ve always had my faith in you."

The people of Brasov are more than happy to answer questions about their town and way of living. Outsiders who go around gathering information from the villagers will learn the following:
Outsiders can do as they please. The villagers are very friendly and will try to accommodate them however possible. There seems to be very little crime in the town and the people look happy. LILITH has been quiet for some time now. Maybe this is a great opportunity to have a well-deserved break? How can you not when the people are so kind and the food looks and tastes so delicious? In fact, the longer that Outsiders stay here, the more some of them may begin to feel like they belong here.
- Why is the land so fertile? This is all owed to their benevolent village god, the Lord of the Forest. No one goes hungry because their god takes care of them. Observant Outsiders will see a common symbol plastered around town: a canine skull.
- There was a distress call. Is everyone okay? The townspeople would respond in confusion and assure the Outsiders that nothing is out of the ordinary. They have been living peacefully for centuries and it’s because their god protects them. They don’t seem to know anything about what’s going on outside their town and the word ‘kaiju’ is lost on them.
- Who is the Lord of the Forest? The townspeople will sing his praises, telling the Outsiders about how he has been providing for and protecting their town for many years.
- Where is the Lord of the Forest? He lives in the forest and mountains that surround the village. Sure enough, if the Outsiders look around, they will see they are completely surrounded by foggy forest and mountains as far as the eye can see.
- Can they go into the forest? The villagers will look worried. While the Lord of the Forest keeps them safe, the forest is still filled with dangerous creatures. Also, the thick fog and trees makes it easy to get lost. Only the most skilled hunters venture out to catch prey like deer and bears. Characters who venture into the woods will get turned around and lost but will eventually find their way back to the village, to which others will reply it is the lord's guidance that brought them back to safety.
▶ 003. BONFIRE FEAST.
On the night of the 7th, the villagers will knock on doors inviting everyone to a bonfire party! It’s just about time to harvest their crops so food is abundant. They can’t think of any better way to use it than to prepare a feast. The bonfire will be held in the council square. Tables and benches have been set up and an impressive spread of fresh food is laid out for everyone to enjoy. Outsiders can enjoy bread, cheese, fresh pork, stew, roasted chicken, seasonal vegetables and free flowing alcohol. There are live musicians on the scene as well, playing merry tunes on their instruments. Some of the villagers have even started dancing around the bonfire and they’re pulling people in to join them! At the center of the table, a canine skull is placed, and the villagers give thanks to their god before partaking in the food.
Nothing seems out of the ordinary … Full and content, everyone will feel tired and want to retire for the night. Characters that do not need to sleep will also feel tired.
Night passes, and daybreak comes. Outsiders might notice that their numbers have dwindled; certain people have gone missing and are nowhere to be found. There won’t be a trace of the captured Outsiders aside from their belongings that they may have left behind.
The villagers do not seem bothered and everything seems normal in the village. Asking the villagers about these disappearances will result in no answers—they claim to have no clue as to the missing Outsiders' whereabouts. It also won’t be possible to contact them, or even LILITH for that matter. It is almost like communications have been cut off completely and their implants receive weak reception.
Observant characters may notice that a heavy fog has descended upon the village overnight and though it gets better during the day, it never lets up.
Captured Outsiders are as followed:

▶ 005. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our third travel log!
There are no assigned seats this time, so characters may sit wherever they choose. Inhuman-looking characters will need to wear their cloaking devices so as to not alarm the people of the town. A separate log has been prepared for kidnappees only. An additional prompt will go up for non-captured characters before the kaiju fight. The scheduling will depend on actions in the captive log. We will announce it on plurk.
All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards October AC.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. TARGU MURES AIRPORT: There has been a distress signal. Characters caring for eggs must leave their eggs with Dr. Spim and report to the hangar to board their flight. The Outsiders will touch down in Targu Mures Airport, and will need to hike the rest of the way through the forest.
2. BRAȘOV, TRANSYLVANIA: Romania was thought to be a desolate country but one village seems to be thriving. The town of Brasov has historic, medieval architecture and the people seem plucked out of the 1700s. They are friendly, welcoming and curious, having never seen technology like what the Outsiders have. Outsiders are provided free lodgings, fresh clothing, food and water. The villagers raise their own livestock and grow their own food, which is unheard of in these times. They don't know anything about a distress call. All around the village, the symbol of a canine skull can be found. This is the Lord of the Forest, the god of this village whom the villagers worship.
3. BONFIRE FEAST: The villagers invite the Outsiders to a bonfire party where fresh food is abundant. After a night of merrymaking, they find that certain Outsiders have disappeared from their numbers and nobody seems to know what happened to them.
》light before the night
All things Katsuki's snarling about as he kicks the door shut behind him once Denji's inside their room. He "hell no'ed" to some old man offering them a stay in his house's guest room. Grabbing a room at the inn meant they didn't have to deal with some creepy ass guy knowing his way around the house they were in. Katsuki still shoves a chair in front of the door. Afraid? No. Wary as fuck? Yes. This is all playing out like one of those stupid horror films that occasionally bubbled up even in his superhero society.
The accommodations are nice enough. Off white walls bubble and pebble a little from manual paint instead of industry standard smooth. Wooden floors offer strong if slightly warped planks that aren't yet worn down from any regular traveling. The window panes' clear centers fade to a ghosted haze towards the dark wooden frames. Their voices have the tiniest echo caught in the room's tapered ceiling. Still... at least it's clean. Not dusty. Two chunky quaint beds sit on either side of the room adjacent to the windows, a single desk centered between them flanks its edges with moonlight. At least until two lanterns are lit and warm the room with orange glow.
Katsuki drops on his back atop a bed, glaring up at the ceiling.]
This place is fucked.
no subject
for now, they should settle in and denji starts by loosening the strap around one shoulder and drops the heavy weight of his bag to the ground. fuck, that was a long trip, especially that hike. it left his body aching a bit, and he reached over to massage that same shoulder as he examined their room further. first of all, who the fuck designed this place and decided to push the beds so far away from each other?! jeez. denji half-scowls at the inconvenience. secondly, the window? the medieval build of it didn't scream 'safety' — anyone could break through that piece of thin glass. yeah, fuck it. he ain't sleeping. he's staying up all night on guard as bakugou rests. he does not trust this place for one second. ]
I don't like it either.
[ denji sighs, exhausted. he then squeezed himself into the nonexistent space next to bakugou's side. those beds are truly not designed to accommodate two bodies, but who cares about that? he'd leave the pillow for his boyfriend's comfort, opting to sit up and lean back against the wooden headboard; legs stretched. they still need to unpack, get out of their clothes, and slip into something more cozy— but, they're allowed to chill for a bit. ]
... Everyone is acting weird. If LILITH thinks it's a good idea to split us up in here, we shouldn't listen to them.
no subject
bakugo swings his bag to the ground before hitting the bed on his back. fuck... maybe they should take a dip in the lake or something to wash off. not like there's a shower around here. awww, denji. so unaware of how old-time people had such a row of modesty, they didn't want a single suggestion of two unrelated people being forced into the same bed. risking hanky panky. as for the windows, if someone breaks through, they have the same advantage as the door: noise. katsuki has similar thoughts to sleeping in rounds, but at the same time, doubts the idea too. he'd rather not ruin his and denji's sleep schedule, if they do have shit to take care of tomorrow. that plane flight and hike were exhausting.
at least they didn't have giant earth golem monsters attacking them like class 1-a did in the forest training camp.]
Ugh. [have that grunt when denji shoves himself into his boyfriend's space. the blonde scoots over a little to give him more room. if they wanna shove the beds together later, he'll be down for it. with denji kicking his legs out, katsuki ends up with said legs thrown over his lap. he drops an arm on them, fingers drumming against his boyfriend's shin. a bit of rest won't hurt. they had a busy day. unpack later. not that they really need to do more than dig out some toiletries and bed clothes.] Hell no. I'm not splitting up. They can fuck off if they order that.
no subject
the fact they need to clean up in the river is— something that hasn't crossed denji's mind yet, and what a shocker that would be. listen, his concerns had nothing to do with sharing the water with other naked outsiders, since they'd already done that and there was no shame in it. it's just ... he didn't fucking want to do it with the villagers. what if they had to do it with some freaks nearby? hell no. they'd need to slip out in the middle of the night or something to rinse off; when it's more private and he can walk around naked without unwelcomed stares. with that in mind, their sleep schedule is fated to be a major fuck up during this specific mission, between the night watch, bathroom trips, and cleaning up in the open river ... their resting hours will be a gamble. oh boy.
he closed his eyes and relaxed his head back against the top rail, breathing out a deep exhale. he then, raised a hand, blindly seeking the thick fluff of blonde hair, and once he felt the soft texture brush under his fingertips, the weight of his touch pressed down, lightly stroking bakugou's head. ] Yeaaaaah, they can fuck off.
[ denji doubts any of the other outsiders would be into it, too. surely with such opposition from the majority, lilith wouldn't push on it. whatever. so long as bakugou stays by his side, he'll be able to survive this hell. he rolled his head to the side, so he could glance down at his boyfriend; looking as exhausted as always. one couldn't tell if denji was being denji or if he was actually drained. ]
As creepy as this place is, let's try to have fun. It's still a new place to experience with you. So, I'm not that mad about it ...
no subject
really, denji? you think katsuki of all people is going to invite himself into a bath with the rest of these people? fuck no! he'll be stealing off to a private location, even if it's in the woods, and washing off there. with his boyfriend, obviously, unless they want to make a social call and invite some companions to go skinny dip/wash off/clean up. they're not gonna do it in the middle of the night, dumbass! closer to sundown, when people are getting ready for their own beds, while it's still light outside. just because dynamight and chainsaw man can kick the shit out of a bear or wolf doesn't mean katsuki wants to invite a bear/wolf fight. they can even bring some blankets if they want to partition off an area. they've got options, denji.
yeah, their sleep schedule's gonna be shit. but considering the village doesn't have electricity, they'll likely be waking up at sunrise and going to their homes at sunset. bakugou grunts slightly when denji flops a hand on his head, groping around in that feely way before he gets a good comfortable settle. tch, he's not a dog, dammit... though guess he can rub around if he wants. a little to the left if you're gonna do that.]
Che. Fine. Don't expect me to get cozy with these stupid extras. They're creepy. [he does have some places he wants to check out, namely the doctor's office and the apothecary, as well as talk to the village leaders if possible. there are plenty of other options too, though he'll be staying out of the stores and houses if he can help it. rather not be in a shut room with these people. he doesn't trust them. bakugou turns his head to look at denji for a little while. there was something else he wanted to do, but...]
I got something for you. [now for the kicker.] You want it now or wait until we take a bath?
[bathroom gift round two.]
no subject
that's extra coziness as they share body heat in a more squishy flavor. one of the many reasons he's looking forward to the cold weather, more excuses to seek the attention of his favorite person, crawling under the blanket where it's dark, warm and full of comfort. as for the inconvenience that will follow them with their bath routines, whether it's struggling to find an isolated spot or fighting off wild animals— which denji has no issue slaughtering on sight if that meant protecting his boyfriend, denji will have to stress about it when the moment begs for it. because, at the end of the day, he did not really care if those villagers would see him naked, balls and dick out, it's fine. however— he didn't want them to see bakugou naked. that's where he will draw the line.
also, it's very adorable how his boyfriend thinks he'd wake up at sunrise. then again, they are in a foreign village, one that triggers an odd sense of caution with their abnormal behavior and rituals. so, yeah, he'd wake up with bakugou during their time here; stay close to him and he will promise him he'd ease down on the shadowing when they finally reach home. ] Fuck that. I wouldn't want you to be cozy with them, either. Let's finish up the mission and get out of here on the first flight back home.
[ he relaxed his fingers through bakugou's hair, with no intention of treating his lover as a pet. if anything, it's a mild gesture of affection. that- ... and maybe he loved touching the other's hair? denji is not being subtle with it as he pushes back on bakugou's bangs to expose that tiny forehead of his, then watches as they bounce back to their place with a luscious swish. a small smile brightens his tired features, happy to spend the next few minutes coddling the other until the conversation took another direction. ] ... huh? [ oh, he's more awake now, and a bit surprised. ] Is it a gift? You got me a gift?!!
[ no, it's not the first time he was spoiled by his boyfriend with a sweet gesture or a purchased gift, but he's certainly acting like it. with a mild burst of energy, denji pulled his hand away, pending over the other boy, literally blocking his view to the ceiling with his face. ] You wanna give it to me during our bath? is it a romantic gift?! [ a very valid judgment to make considering the given option between doing it now or when they're both naked in the wilderness— both options had an element of courtship into it, says denji. ]
I could wait, but ... I want a hint.
no subject
it's not that he minds people seeing him naked. so long as it's in a locker room or hot spring with people he knows. strangers, and these people in particular, he doesn't want looking at him naked. doesn't want them looking at denji naked either. they creep him out. he'll make sure they find some secluded space for a bath. even if it means a few buckets of water with holes poked in the bottom hung up on a tree branch with sheets around. rustic, but it works.
no, bakugou doesn't expect denji to rise at sunrise. he'll keep his usual morning routine, another reason he sleeps away from the wall. getting out of bed without waking the half-devil isn't the easiest, considering the blonde likes to cling at night. but if denji does wake up, and has that serious expression on, he'll avoid telling him to go back to bed. albeit, expecting a nap from the guy later in the day. the half-devil's shadowing is going to be more appreciated in this place
and later the lack of it will be a rage-inducing issue.]Aa. This place reminds me of a fucking horror film setting.
[of course denji's not treating him as a pet! katsuki growls about strokes and pets any time, even if he doesn't make an effort to smack said hand away, until his tolerance meter tips off. it'd be a lie to say he hasn't drifted off with denji combing his fingers through his hair and massaging his scalp. his brows furrow a little when the guy starts playing with his bangs. who the fuck's got a "tiny" forehead? it's like everyone else's! hmph. should see the times he's the one pushing denji's bangs back in the shower to mess with his hair. he can make horns with the shampoo.]
Did you go deaf? I said I did. [technically he didn't say "gift" but if it's not a punishment or repayment, what else could it be? katsuki looks up as denji curves over him, red eyes peering through choppy ashen bangs. this guy's annoyingly cute when he's surprised and happy. his eyes get wide and there's that tug of war with his mouth where it wants to curve in a smile yet hang in an 'o' of shock. sharp-toothed yam shape. questions about "romantic" get ignored! but yeah, the offer to do it naked in the woods is kind of... duh, intimate. maybe he likes the idea of doing rare things in the bath. a hint? ... hm.] You can wear it.
no subject
it always starts with a simple text or a note left inside one of the shelves in bakugou closet, both reading ‘I’ll bring it back’ – only to never be seen again. in rare instances, bakugou will reunite with his missing clothes when he spots them either in the laundry basket, somewhere in denji’s room, or when he catches his boyfriend wearing them in public. the sole piece of garment that is protected from denji’s prying hands happens to be the hero’s uniform, for two reasons: a) he knew it was something katsuki wouldn’t tolerate being touched without his approval, b) pretty damn sure he will feel super scandalous wearing something as tight and revealing as that top. the thought of it alone makes him blush. for some fucked up logic walking around shirtless is far more timid, but to have the fabric stick to your skin, exposing every curve of your muscles, with a massive v-cut for a seductive cleavage tease is -
- oooff, danger. the whole idea for these crimes is to wear something that smells like his boyfriend; for the sake of feeling all fluffy and loved, an endless hug throughout the day. it's an innocent ritual of adoration and he can't ruin it by turning it naughty.
he chuckled a bit at that comment, and he had to agree. as a proud movie devotee, despite denji’s dislike for the horror theme (his life is enough) – this does appear like the perfect set for serial killers/monsters to thrive in. so long as they have their powers and remain sober, and no one fucks with their head, the half-devil is not intimidated by those villagers. if the situation begs for it and they decide to come at them with hostility, he will not hesitate to chop off some hands. at least denji will aim to injure and not kill; bakugou shouldn’t be mad at him.
when he's reassured the surprise involves a gift, denji's cheeks warm up in a faint hue of red; even behind the bags under his eyes and heavy lids that add years to his age, denji tends to appear more youthful, or childlike when he’s genuinely happy. very few people in this city can get to see that expression. the natural, honest joy and not the empty smile that he tends to carry around while indulging in a casual conversation with their fellow outsiders. maybe other people wouldn’t get so emotional over something as simple as exchanging gifts, deeming it as a normal part of any relationship, but denji would never be able to normalize any act of kindness towards him – it will always be special. always. especially from bakugou.
he stays where he is, close to his boyfriend’s face; soon after he shifts a bit so he can lightly tug on the other boy's shirt, impatient. ]
... can we go right now? to clean up?
[ it's a soft plea, yet he will understand that his partner is too exhausted from their long trip and would rather rest a bit longer. ]

the first time he'd found that note, he hadn't caught what it was for. until he looked around his closet again, only to find his damn shirt was missing. dammit, he waited five whole days for it to come back! never showed up. of course he knew who the culprit was, so someone got his door kicked open and a stomping burr going for his hamper. it wasn't in there either?! what about the laundry room? his drawers?! fuck! how the hell do you lose a shirt, ripcord pec?! did he get in fight with it and shred it?! alas, they'll never know. meaning his expression got real flat when a second note appeared. luckily bakugou managed to rescue this one when he found denji wearing it, but little did he know it'd become a regular thing. hence the extra purchases. thanks for not touching his costume. he would get really pissed if something happened to it. the workers at lilith have had enough time to learn his costume and are able to repair it, and his gear, as needed, since bakugou demanded that of them if they wanted him to work for them. so at least he has that as a recourse.
has he considered asking them for a duplicate for denji to wear? ... nope! sorry, babe, but there are some things his pride's too great for. katsuki's caught himself wondering what sort of hero costume denji would make for himself if he were in the hero's world. tight? armored? exposed? cool? hm. maybe he should ask someday.
tch, denji's blushing. he always likes seeing his boyfriend when he's happy like this. it erases years off his face and brings a charm that's not there in normal doldrums. he can't do anything to permanently have such an expression, but that makes it all the more treasured when it shows. it's rare katsuki's ever in a state of calm, so he's not one to talk about an uncommon expression. his chest warms as the other boy smiles down at him, prompting one hand up to trace his fingertips over denji's cheek. his tough-skinned palm settles against the soft flush, fingers grazing along the shell of his boyfriend's ear. yeah, he knows a simple thing such as a gift would be an amazing experience for the other boy. and while he's gotten denji plenty of things over the past month, there have been some, this included, that are more special than others.]
Yeah, yeah. [katsuki drops his hand to denji's chest and gives him a light push backwards. lean back so he can sit up without butting your teeth with his head, dammit. che! him? exhausted from that trip? as if! he could do it two times more without rest! (sure...) but getting a wash off before bed sounds good. it's not black out there yet, so they've got some time to look around for a nice bathing spot.] Get a change of clothes.
[not walking back in a towel either.]

and when someone finally did, and took him in, accepted him, and treated him like an equal ... fuck, denji is so glad he didn’t give up.
he's glad he dared to open his heart again, he’s so glad he walked up to bakugou and was honest with himself (even when it was done so poorly), he’s glad he decided that maybe he deserved some happiness, be selfish enough to persuade it and hold it close. yes, he messed up in vegas, and that shattered his fragile confidence to tiny pieces, and back then denji wanted to crawl back into those doubts and let them poison his mind, but katsuki is worth fighting for. he’s trying again; trying every day to be better ... for that boy, and maybe one day he will learn he has to do it for himself before anything else. it's work in progress and he hopes his boyfriend will be by his side along the way.
at the little nudge, denji complied with a sheepish smile, pulling back and moving out of the bed. right, they should get ready for a wild plunge into the lake— while it does sound like a fun thing to do, he just hopes no one would be lingering around to ruin their time together. what a turn-off that would be. he then digs through his bag, and takes out a pair of fresh clothing, a towel, and cleaning products; nothing too fancy like their selection back home, just small containers that were designed for one-time use.
he waits by the entrance for his boyfriend to join him, and once he does— they leave behind their room, lock the door with some ancient-looking key, and exit the premises. they’re back in the open again, still passing by a friendly ‘smile’ here and there. he's pleased to ignore them, eyeing the boy next to him. ]
... The food better be good around here. Maybe we can grab something on the way back?

denji makes him happy too. katsuki's under no delusion he's a hard person to be around. he expects those who want to be with him to accept that as well. weathering his attitude long enough earns someone the blonde's respect and loyalty, even if he conveys it poorly at times. he never thought the young man who walked up to him in the locker room and asked if they were partners would be the one he falls asleep beside each night now. it's why what happened in vegas did nothing to shake katsuki's opinion of the man he loves. he gave denji some time to process it, but made no secret his intention of beating the ever-living shit out of the half-devil's doubts and fears until his boyfriend was ready to stand up and fight again. someday, he hopes denji will learn to love himself as much as he loves bakugou. but until that day comes, he'll make sure to keep him anchored with his own feelings. beside him every step of the way. well, minus the times he wants to see denji walk on his own for a bit. he's a taskmaster like that. should've figured that out when they trained together.
katsuki plans to make sure their presence is left alone. he doesn't trust the people in this village not to go skulking out in the evening if they see something amiss, despite them not wanting to do so. like denji, he grabs a change of clothes from his bag, towel, lets denji handle the shower stuff (they don't need more than one bottle between them), and opts to add two sheets to his collection. yeah, he'll be making some curtains with these. and something else, which goes in his pocket. once he's set, bakugou tugs the chair free of the doorknob and leaves.
now, he does stop by two of their neighboring outsiders to knock on the door and tell them they're leaving for a bath. because fuck if he's going to up and vanish in this creepy ass place without his allies knowing.]
These people are in bed by then. They don't have electricity. Sunrise and sunset are the time they spend outside. [He's not going to knock on people's doors who are trying to get ready for sleep to get some food. Do they have pubs and restaurants here? Not sure. There's a tavern and an inn, so maybe? Anyways, they can probably get something from the inn, or message one of their friends to get something "to go" and have it when they get back.]

as bakugou decided to knock on a few doors on their way out, denji was horrified for a hot second that his partner was in a weird socializing mood to invite others into their special time, but— phew! thankfully it was just his way to keep everyone informed. hmm, smart. perhaps that is something they need to adopt moving forward, especially when they get tossed into a new location. denji kept to himself most of the time; he would wave if he knew the outsiders or otherwise wait in the background in silence. he’s just thankful no one decided to invite themselves along. in any given day, he’d be into it, call it a party, but he’s supposed to get a gift! so, yeah, mouth sealed, waiting, then tagging along as they walk down the path leading to the lake.
ah, there he goes again with the sunrise/sunset sleeping routines. the half-devil did not engage in that reality, as if he didn’t want to enable the hero to suggest that they follow that same sleeping schedule. okay, he did decide to wake up early so he could be close to that boy, but must he sleep early, too? ughhhh. he downloaded so many movies and added them to the storage so he can entertain himself when it gets too boring.
another thing- ] Pretty sure they use candles or lanterns during the night ... like the ones kept in our room. Maybe we can have a quick look around on the way back? See if anything is open? Otherwise, I’ll ask Aki to get us something.
[ their communication devices are a bit unreliable since they came here, but texting each other is still an option so far, and he takes a moment to send aki a quick one. ‘feed us. me and katsuki. hungrrryyyyy’. very informative and in a language his best friend would understand. as they ventured further, the underbrush thickened, and they stumbled upon a narrow trail, almost hidden by wildflowers. while they knew another route, this one seemed like a shortcut. not that they can read what the signs say, but the picture of a river should give a hint. they were close enough that the sounds of the forest enveloped them— birds chirping, leaves rustling in the soft breeze. the air was fragrant with the scent of pine and damp earth. the lake should be nearby; there’s a scent to it, even if the hidden track seemed a bit dodgy ... like the rest of this damn village. ]
Shall we? [ curious to go for it, but he will check with bakugou before anything else. ] I'm ready if something jumps us.

luckily katsuki might rise with the sun but he's never been one to sleep when it sets. there's too much he wants to get done in a day to limit himself to 12 hours of daylight. another reason he dislikes the winter, bringing it's short days along with its shitty cold weather. bastard. denji won't be trundled off to bed any earlier than katsuki's usual in his room by 9 and tries to be asleep by 10:30 at the latest on a normal weekday night. good idea on the video download...]
Aa. Right. They're at least inside when it gets dark. [there, he amended his statement. unless people want to go wandering around with lanterns when the moon's out. great idea when you live in a stereotypical horror film setting. he rolls his shoulders when denji suggests a look around.] Fine. If something's open, we'll go in.
[DON'T TEXT PEOPLE LIKE THAT!! WHAT TH FUCK?! says the guy who would send little more than "we're coming over for dinner; get something good and i'll pay you back" in his own message. katsuki activates his plug suit again as they go through the underbrush, arms pushing aside branches and leaves until it breaks into a clearer trail. hmph, probably leads to a more well-traveled entrance from elsewhere in the village. birds still out at this hour, a breeze rifling through the leaves, the scent of river water and wildflowers collecting with the pine all around. he steps out into he trail and passes the sign for water ahead. it'll be fine. they can take care of themselves if something comes at them.] Yeah. Better not be the same damn bear Goji tangled with on the way here.

[ he pushed aside a low-hanging branch as they continued down the unknown track, feeling the soft brush of its leaves against his skin. the path twists ahead, winding deeper into the woods. shadows dance on the ground as the dimming sunlight flickers through the foliage, creating a coalition of light and darkness. they probably had about an hour before sunset, and while denji was confident about their abilities, especially when they worked together as a team, he still didn't want to act all cocky in a foreign land. once it gets too dark, regardless of what they're doing, he will insist that they head back and regroup with their teammates. luckily, their gamble was a success, and a few minutes in, they emerged into a clearing, and there it was— a shimmering lake within the forest. the water was a deep blue, reflecting the sky above and the surrounding trees like a mirror. it seemed like it was a hidden gem, untouched and serene, as if it wasn't meant to be discovered by anyone.
even behind the beautiful visual before them, denji couldn't shake off the sense of uneasiness. why is no one around? do the villagers even bathe? or, is there a reason they're avoiding it at this hour? it didn't linger because his brain reminded him of the gift, and he was content to focus on it better. it didn't mean they should drop their guard; he followed bakugou, one step behind him, scanning the area for any uninvited guests. they ended up discovering a large rock with a flat surface, which happened to be a good spot to leave their stuff. despite his caution, denji's features remained nonchalant as he turned to face his partner. ]
Okay. I think we're alone ... [ with that said, he stepped closer, both hands reaching out to grab the other boy by the waist, pulling him in until their bodies pressed together. since the start of the mission, since they received that annoying announcement from lilith to gear up and get ready to travel— they didn't have a second for themselves. as per denji's standards, at least. they've been busy packing up, getting dragged into a long flight, and then hiking for extra hours until they are too tired to do anything. right now? denji could breathe, focus on bakugou, and enjoy him without the added distractions. some asshole might show up to clean up and ruin their peace, so there is a sense of urgency -
that's when he closed his eyes and leaned in, lips curled up in a cheeky smile. yeah, he's asking for a kiss. ]

katsuki keeps an eye on the shadows creeping along the sunlight, what used to be rounds stretching into ovals as the sun lowers towards the horizon. by his estimation, they have about an hour before the sun's completely behind the seam of the sky, leaving only twilight to meld murky shapes with waning light. whatever. he's his own fucking lantern. plus they brought one. bakugou isn't keen on bathing in the dark in an unknown river. ducking another branch, he rounds a rock jutting into the path and soon enough the lake's in front of them. he instantly tracks its source: a river coming from further beyond, lost in the woods and the creepy fog. could've been a spring, but nah. looks like this is a stop for the water, where rain would overflow its banks if it came down hard enough. doesn't seem to be a river leading out of it though. they'll have to watch out for stagnant water in that case. make a good bit of noise while they're wading in to shoo away anything lurking around inside. as nice as this place is, he doubts it's completely untouched; the villagers had to have used it for water at some point. if they came in this deep...
bakugou sets his load down on the rock, flipping the two sheets over his arms and making sure the lantern is steady. now where the hell are some overhanging branches so they can section off a little area for themselves? both for changing and for stealing away during the bath. katsuki's search gets interrupted by a pair of firm hands catching his waist, earning a slight grunt of surprise from the blonde.] Oy-! [and shuts up when he's pulled flush against denji's front. oh. he doesn't expect to have time for just the two of them when they're heading out for a mission; it's busy! but once it presents itself, it's hard to avoid the reminder he missed it. really doubtful anyone's going to show up right now, considering they can't even see the village from here.
che, this cheeky bastard. katsuki gives him a wry look before leaning in and closing the distance between them, mouth to mouth in a warm kiss.] Sap.

satisfied with that little attention, denji leaned back and began undressing the other boy, starting off by tugging on his top, working the fabric up his slim waist as he spoke. ] I'm allowed to. You're my boyfriend. [ he sneaks in another kiss in the corner of those inviting lips, breaking it off as he strips bakugou out of his upper garments, careful to drop them next to their belongings. despite temptations, denji is still very much aware of their surroundings, conscious enough to pick up on any little sound of movement. once again, he didn't like how exposed they were in the middle of the forest, or— bakugou. which might explain the slow fiddle of denji's fingers around the other's belt. ]
Maybe you should keep your boxers on ...
[ surely he had another pair of clean underwear that he could slip into once their little adventure was over with. as for denji, the hypocrisy is wild. he was fine to strip naked for all to see, but not the other way around. with that, he loosened the hem of his pants over his hips, careful not to pull down on bakugou's briefs. while they have done this so many times, it never fails to warm up denji's cheeks a bit. go ahead, call him a 'sap' again. he does not care. it's still innocent, at least. body appreciation can be pure, warming up his heart, and nothing lower. he allowed the pants to drop to bakugou's ankles, figuring the other could take care of it from here.
time to attend to himself; that's when denji decided to think out loud, playfully. ] I wonder what my gift is ......

katsuki lifts his arms as his shirt tugs up on his abs, baring the hard muscle and scar on his torso.] Tch, I never said you weren't. [grumpy for the sake of being grumpy. a stealth kiss almost gets a tiny bite, but he has to duck his head when the shirt collar tugs up against his chin, arms lowering to strip the material off his hands soon after. does he plan on stripping him completely out here? it feels strange, getting naked in the woods like this; he can't say he's ever done so before. this is new. ironic denji feels exposed in the middle of the woods, where it's probably one of the least exposed places. he arches a brow as fingers mess with his belt and the other boy murmurs about his boxers staying on.]
I'm no getting a bath in my fucking underwear. [not for you, man. katsuki hikes a leg up at his foot, swinging it towards his thigh to grip the hem of his pants leg and pull it over his heel and off. denji can't tell him not to get naked right before stripping himself to his skin, dumbass. part of that protective jealousy is cute, part of it's annoying. the flush on his boyfriend's face and a murmur about the gift sees the blonde folding up his pants and putting them on the rock, a slight bulge in one pocket where said gift is currently stored. pocket's at the "top" of the pile so he can reach it when wanted.] You'll find out in a bit.
[with that, he goes for denji's shirt and pants, helping the other boy get them of... and copping a feel or three along the way. while he has no intention of bathing with his boxers on, he also made a point of bringing the two sheets and lantern, partially for this reason specifically.] We need to tie the sheets up on those branches over there.
[it'll make for a mostly-enclosed space in the shallows. likely waist deep. the lantern can hang between the sheets to illuminate the space between.]

that said, it didn't mean denji would adopt the maiden lifestyle; he was free to run his mouth, especially when he noticed those few touches earlier on. heh. he lowers his lashes, already carrying a suspicious type of smile, lazy and sly. the first warning sign. ]
Then, I'll have to look away. This is dangerous. You're naked, and we're getting into the water. I've been programmed to find this super erotic.
[ this is one way to encourage katsuki into throwing that gift into the other side of the lake, huh. never to be seen again. either way, denji does get his ass to work, following his boyfriend's vision and whatever he had in mind to do with those sheets. he didn't get it first, and when it registered to him, denji felt kinda stupid for not catching it as fast as he should have. it did offer them some privacy and brought some ease into denji's mind. he then stepped close to the edge, his bare feet digging slightly into the velvety, cool sand. he waited for bakugou to join his side while enjoying the warm breeze against his skin and slowly walked forward, dipping his toes into the water first, sending ripples across the surface. they wade in deeper, the water rising quickly up to their waist. his muscles tense as he adjusts to the cool temperature but soon relaxes as he gives in to the refreshing sensation.
he knew they should start cleaning up, no time to soak around, but — fuck, it felt nice. the half-devil closed his eyes, sinking lower, until the water brushed under his chin. ]

of course denji has to start teasing the oncoming of his own arousal. you think he doesn't recognize what those signs mean? dark lashes lowered over half-hooded tawny eyes? a soft cheshire smile as dopey as it is horny. the faintest of pinks on his cheeks because his even-more pink brain is shining through his skin? yeah, there's no way they're getting through this bath with a simple wash.] Uh-huh. And how're you gonna tie up sheets with your head looking at your ass?
[katsuki's growling voice issues from a taunting grin, not at all cowed by that warning sign. he'll play right into it since he knows exactly what he's getting into this time. since he's more focused on stripping down his boyfriend, katsuki doesn't remove his own boxers until they're ready to go into the water. but no, he's not throwing that gift away. now on to the sheets. luckily they have a two-pronged branch hanging out over the water, meaning the sheets get tied one corner to the fork and the other to the furthest part of the branch possible, with the full length of the sheet left to fall down into the water below. it makes a curtained-off area of sorts, with the lantern secured within the fork of the branch to illuminate the entire set up. that, of course, means there's some obvious shadow play going on outside the sheets, but if they stay submerged to their waists in the water, it should be fine.
katsuki crouches down in the water, getting to chest level beside denji before cupping some of the liquid and slopping it over his shoulders and arms. the warm breeze compared to the cool water is a contrast, but the lantern amid the sheets makes for a warming atmosphere when they stand up within them. of course they can swim further out into the lake before returning to the curtained cove. being naked with denji in the water brings a strange feeling.] I've never done this before.
[rare he ever admits that, but katsuki's always been the responsible boy despite his delinquent attitude. so skinny dipping in public was a hell no.]
no subject
How do you even come up with that?!
[ denji couldn't help but laugh out, confused on how anyone could brain such an insult that was both stupid and smart but found it fucking hilarious anyway. once he was done with the setup, he made sure to give his partner a taunting grin that translated 'see?' — totally did it with perfection. he will score himself 10/10. now that he's chilling inside the water, relaxed and in the zone, denji was able to notice the aesthetic vibe behind their buildup cover and how it created a sense of privacy. the lantern and its subtle lighting was a nice touch that ended up romanticizing the setting.
danger.
you know what else is dangerous? bakugou 'touching' himself, or well - he was bathing, really, as he should be. that's why they're here, right? to wash their naked bodies and rub their skin clean. denji's mind decided to go with more intimate terminology because that's how it is sometimes. he blinked at that confession, staring a bit. he then stopped making bubbles under the surface and lifted his head up over the water so he could speak (and breathe again). ]
Okay, but - aren't you ever curious about certain things? I know you're working hard to be the perfect hero, strictly following the laws of the land that were created by old men, but ... you're still a teenager. Isn't this the time to experiment? break some rules and create memories?
[ denji still had a list of experiences he wanted to go through since he had the money and freedom to do so, but he's certain half of them bakugou wouldn't want to be part of or is likely to disapprove. which ..... sucks since he wanted to go through them with him the most, but he respects his boyfriend's standards. ]
Is there something you wish you could do but can't?
no subject
Cause you turned your head around so hard.
[trying his damnest not to look at katsuki while the hero stripped down. might as well have find a way to look down his own backside in the earnestness of his avoidance. luckily neither have an issue with the setup and he's damn proud of their accomplishment. relaxing in the cool water, dealing with the occasional brush of reed or curious fish, katsuki's left to do nothing more than linger in denji's presence amid the open woods. their curtained section gives them privacy, but cuts them off from the vast expanse surrounding them. he's gonna get pissed if some shitty fireflies turn up and swarm around them like a damn romantic cartoon.
oy! at least he's not sexing up his wash off, dammit! rubbing at his bicep, katsuki gives the mound of muscle a few circling motions to work the sinew before cupping his hand under his arm, then dragging down his ribs. it's strange to admit that kind of thing. normally the blonde's done everything. camps. reading. training. classes. seems he can pull out a talent or skill that's needed at the moment, or whip out the ability to tackle whatever's going on at the moment and end up succeeding at it. so to up and comment on this being a first... something that's not sex related or interpersonal... is a quiet show of vulnerable and trust. it's no surprise it comes to denji.]
Hm? [water runs down the back of his neck and trickles over his chest as he glances over to his boyfriend. what kind of plug did he pull out of his thoughts to earn this? yet he doesn't answer, instead listens and lets himself think. a minor snort when denji throws in "laws by old men" as if bakugou's chained to some ancient lore. it's called morals and society, dork. experimenting is something he's not adverse to (he made his own super moves!) but breaking rules to make memories? that's a different story. he doesn't like to risk his reputation or record. a hero doesn't do things that could get them in trouble. (so he thought, until he found out several do.) but katsuki's aware denji doesn't mean they go on a crime spree.]
I choose what I want to do. [bristling a little that denji suggests he "can't" do something. he can smoke a cigarette, but chooses not to. he can associate with criminals, but chooses not to. and yet, that same bristling, as well as wracking his mind for things that might fall into that limited category, sees his shoulders sag as so little comes to mind. focused on doing right, becoming a hero, has he lost time where he got to simply be a teenager? it's so often he goes shopping by himself rather than accepting a weekend trip with his classmates. stays inside to study instead of playing video games. gets a shower in the bathroom like a normal person rather than strip down and bath in a woodland lake...]
I... [his arm drops down with a ploosh in the water, leaving him frowning in the lantern light. kind of a lost, frustrated, miffed frown that's maybe funny to see. like he's irked at his own brain.] I don't know.
[he's honestly unsure. whether that's because he truly can't think of anything or the things that come to his mind are so embarrassing or so criminal, that voicing them seems almost impossible. denji's always been so... free.]

with his body still hidden under the water, denji snickers at that justification. jeez, he's getting called out for trying to be a gentleman, trying to avert his eyes from the sinful temptations of a perfectly shaped body. the audacity to be ridiculed for it. ] I am a weak man, Kacchan. Very weak. [ hasn't his record proven this already? besides, if the villagers thought it was blasphemy to bring two beds together in their humble motels, how would they react to walking in two guys going at it in the middle of the lake? he's doing this to protect his lover's honor because denji doesn't give a shit about being shamed by the public. then again, horny thoughts aside, he is — hmm, happy. denji glanced up as the last hues of an approaching sunset painted the sky, streaks of pink and orange fading into the warm blue. the water rose slowly as he waded in further, coolness seeping into his skin, soothing his senses. he then took a deep breath and submerged fully, the world muffling into silence for a brief, peaceful moment. when he emerged, droplets clung to his skin, catching the dim light that was just beginning to fade into dusk. unfortunately for bakugou, the fireflies — are fated to come in and set the mood. not right now, but soon. be ready, hero.
he then caught a side of his boyfriend he had never seen, and denji was drawn to it in a beat, staring at him as bakugou struggled for an answer. for a brief minute, a fleeting thought, denji felt a bit guilty. it was not his intention to make the other assume he was missing out on his younger years, and to see that frustration made his heart ache, but then — maybe it's not a bad thing. slowly, he stood up, the surface of the water lowering down to his abdomen as he approached the other boy, closing in the modest distance between them. there is a childish, innocent curiosity behind the way denji leaned in, smiling as he appreciated the new expression on bakugou's features. it's strange how — he loved it. it's a bit vulnerable. in a beautiful, heartwarming way. ]
We can figure it out. Together ... [ denji's bucket list is ready and growing in any given chance, and he started it when his first salary dropped. he still yearns for katsuki to be the one he experiences with, even when some of it is fated to clash with the other boy's morals. gently, he reached out to brush the back of his fingers over his lover's cheek. what a handsome boy. even when he's in doubt. ] I'll do anything you wanna do. I promise I'll enjoy it. [ he then opens his mouth - playfully threatening that he's about to drop the corniest line bakugou has ever heard. like, did he need to say it? "I'll enjoy it because I'll be with you" — alas, he holds it back, grinning sheepishly. right, he didn't want to ruin this. he's actually loving every second of their time together here.
soon after, he pulled his hand away and left the other's side, not before making a quick gesture that they forgot the cleaning products. it didn't take long for him to reach bakugou again, this time holding the tiny bar of soap. if they drop this fucker, they will never see it again as it sinks to the bottom of the lake. bakugou shouldn't trust denji to hold it. take it away from him, please. ]
Wanna tell me one thing, at least? something you wanna do but never had the chance yet?

look, he's calling denji out on trying to do something he's not going to get dumped in the mud for doing! katsuki gives him a wry face for calling himself a "weak" person, even if it's meant in a tease.] Tch, if I have a problem with it, I'll tell you. [may be his famous last words, but he's operated on that truth since the second time they got intimate! luckily if any villagers did happen by, they were far more likely to get exploded in the face before they could even figure out what they were seeing. tempting as it'd be to tell denji to lasso them with a chain and whipcrack them across the forest. don't, babe. katsuki turns his head, momentarily caught in the image of his boyfriend standing waist-deep in the lake. water rivulets trickling down the contours of his chest and stomach, droplets clinging to his skin, all of them catching the rose citrine of sunlight against denji's complexion. with the surface of the lake just shy of his groin, making the perfectly tantalizing cut off midway down his pelvic v. cap it off with denji not even looking at him, but the happy gentle expression on his face as he gazes quietly to the sunset.
damn right he took a picture or twelve of that.
something to review while denji's submerged in the lake. katsuki sinks towards his shoulders, leaving the water around his neck as he scoops some into his hair. he's careful not to use surface water, but rather bubbles up from about a foot below to break up and churn the water, then using another foot-below handful to bring to his hair. that keeps it as clean as possible.
tch, it's not a fair image to watch denji approach him as the surface of the water descended down his naked torso. there might be another picture or so if something strikes him as instantly photographic. next summer, if they're still here, odds are likely he'll see this same side, but in the break of the ocean surface as his boyfriend wades out towards him with a sunny grin. katsuki stands up in the water, that four and a half inch difference in their height being suddenly very clear again as the other boy leans in to smile at him like that. not leering or cocky, but enjoying all the same. makes his want to kiss denji... and dunk his dumb head in the water at the same time.]
Hmph. I've had a lot of firsts with you. Not just sex. [rather than katsuki not being adventurous because he's scared or timid, he's not big on branching out because he's focused and reserves his time and efforts for extensions that improve himself, rather than going out for "something fun" to do. waste of time? ... kind of. as he sees it. but his classmates laid a groundwork before that katsuki's friends and boyfriend in neo tokyo have gotten to further expand on. morally objective things aside, the blonde does want to experience new things with denji, but as he's said before, doesn't want his boyfriend to hamstring himself if katsuki's not there. he has friends who care for denji too, and hell if the blonde wants to shortchange the half-devil in experience. (like sneaking into a casino underage.) he turns his head slightly into denji's brushing stroke... then takes one of his fingers between his teeth. why? no reason. he's a badass. and an edgy dork who thinks he has to "remind" denji he's not some fluffy pettable puppy. what a fool you're dating, denji.]
You already do a lot I want to do. [from studying to training to gathering plants in this place. sometimes it's amazing the half-devil does as much as bakugou wants to do, considering he can be pretty straightlaced. yet he enjoys it because of that corny line the hero knows so well denji doesn't have to say it. part of him wants to pass the decision of what to do onto denji, but that's not fair. his boyfriend deserves to have katsuki give him full attention on this. so... once he comes back with soap, there's an answer ready. (and soap floats if it's the whipped kind - ivory)
now, when denji puts the question different, something he's never had the chance to do compared to something he "can't" do, the mental waffling wouldn't have been so bzzzt-! ... full tilt.] Lets do a camp-out on the beach. I never got to spend the night there. We did cookouts but always had to leave before evening.
[he's seen sunsets from afar, he's cooked and played on the beach, and he's camped out in the woods during summer camps. but never the experience of smashing all those together. a fire, a tent, skewers, the waves, sunset... yeah, it's something he hasn't gotten to do.]

calling himself weak in that regard is not a tease, hero. katsuki is one of the good guys, the type who understands what a healthy relationship means, and he would never abuse his influence on his boyfriend. that's the only reason he could label denji as someone who is sexually motivated, an excited pup, when in reality- it truly is that easy to rile him up. hey, he likes to pretend he is starting to build enough stamina, thanks to their many nights exploring their sexual lust, but that's a lie. a sfw selfie will still make him uncomfortable for the rest of his shift, which explains why he stopped asking bakugou for it. that didn't mean denji wouldn't sneak taking pictures of his boyfriend when the scenery was too gorgeous. and then there is a whole other album that remains exclusive for his eyes only. ]
... and it makes me happy.
[ honestly. this boy is very attractive; even when he's screaming in your face and threatening to end your life, it still won't mask his appeal, not that denji was brave enough to break katsuki's heart with this reality and confess his tantrums only makes him doki more than anything else. in a way, he thought he had already missed some of bakugou's firsts, assuming someone else managed to earn the hero's approval to get intimate with. to hear he was lucky enough to experience it with him— truly warmed up denji's soul, and it's an ego boost. let's be real. he's happy to dismiss all his shitty kisses/sexual advances and fantasizes katsuki was his first in those too. the bite was a bit of a dangerous stunt, and luckily, he didn't go for his index finger, catching the middle one instead; it was a sweet shift from ptsd to sexy. if the intention is to retaliate, the only damage it has done to denji is make his smile sickly sweet. he resists the urge to ... gently nudge that same finger between those delicious lips and remind himself what it feels like to experience that wet heat again. it's been a while since they did that. he's spacing out a bit, though. already dropped the fucking soap and paid little attention to it, but that thing did end up floating between their bodies. it was a fleeting moment of frailty (see? so weak), and he snapped out of it in time to hear his boyfriend's desire, and almost instantly, he was excited about it. ]
I always wanted us to spend the night outside the base. Just the two of us. [ bakugou's idea is a lot better than renting out a room in a love hotel, so — he'll adjust the bucket list in his implant later. ] When our weekend match, let's do it. Let's watch the sunset together ...
[ just in time as the surface around them glistened in hues of gold and a light purple as the sun began its descent. he's holding the soap now, lathering his hands; each stroke sent ripples outward, merging with the lake’s natural rhythms. the world around them fell into silence, save for the soft sounds of his splashes and the distant call of a bird. if denji can find some peace in this ominous village just by existing with bakugou, he can only imagine how beautifully heartwarming that experience will be. alone in their own space, far away from the lively city and under a sky full of stars. ah, he wonders if he can coax his boyfriend to indulge him in a slow dance. they missed out on the gala, right? it's only fair they have their shine.
he starts cleaning up, attending to the back of his neck, down his throat, collarbone, and then his chest. he gets enough foam to coat his fingers before he passes the bar to bakugou. he'd wait for him to accept it, and without much of a thought behind it - denji ended up pressing their lips together. just like that. he closed his eyes, breathing in through his nose, embracing the flow of emotions that was not conflicting for a change but full of warmth. the kiss lingered but remained as soft and loving. he only breaks it off when they hear a light shuffle from the nearby bush, just behind their cover, most likely a squirrel - but he should stay alert regardless. back to bathing, still carrying that smitten smile. ] Let's shop for a tent and sleeping bags as soon as we land, yeah?

unfortunately, katsuki's not immune to his own hormones and attraction. even though denji stopped asking for them, those selfies occasionally found their way onto his phone. respectfully, not during his shift. maybe on the tail end of it, when he knows denji's coming back to base and sees no problem in riling his boyfriend up as a reward for his hard work that day. or like now, when he steals his own pictures to place in his folder of aesthetic and erotic boyfriend shots. katsuki finds it amusing the half-devil is trying to build his stamina against his own perversion and high libido. is it making progress? ...eh.]
Good. [maybe it's cliche, but denji's happiness is important to him. a smile on his face is one of his favorite sights, whether it's the soft relieved with sagging shoulders and lowered brows, or the surprised grin with a head twitched back and wider eyes, or the tired affectionate one with dopey gaze and teeth half bared in a lopsided smile, and may more variations he's seen over their time together. there are times when he gets to see more intimate moments, sitting in bed with his boyfriend turned beside him, head in his lap, expression completely serene in sleep. no fear, no pain, no worries, no tension. but rather warm, safe, content. moments like those katsuki finds his heart boiling softly because denji never had the luxury to sleep like this in his earlier life back home. a hand would find its way to his head, combing through his hair or massaging his nape. yeah, there are many firsts he wants to have with denji.
no apologies for biting his finger. what did the hunter think would happen with that? teeth set on his digit, tongue passing hidden inside katsuki's mouth to run across the slender bone trapped between his jaws. deliberately refusing to take him in and suck, since he knows denji would likely want to push his finger right into his mouth and encourage that. a soft 'ploop' in the water breaks the little moment and he glances down to find the soap briefly wiggling beneath the water's surface. shit, he'll have to div- oh, it's the floating kind. good. and scoops it right out of the water with a free hand. he'll hold onto this, thanks. they came here to wash, right? okay, not entirely. katsuki knew what he was courting when he suggested this.]
We'll have to avoid the bay area. They're still working on it. [actions have been put forward to rejuvenate and renovate the area. he doesn't want to get in the way of that. but there are other areas near it where the coastline could work for this little excursion of theirs.] I put in a request to the office for next year to have our schedule's line up regularly.
[while the police do like to spread the powerful outsiders on their schedule to maximize their ability to help, katsuki's grown tired of coming back too late for dinner with denji, only get an hour or less of co-op time with his partner, or having to wait for their ships-in-the-night schedules to align for some interaction. he'd dating now. he should be able to spend more time with his boyfriend on a regular basis. so next year, he wants their schedules set where two days a week they can work apart, the other three they work together, and two days off, baring emergencies or any self-decided overtime. yeah, heroes don't take breaks, but katsuki has a life here outside his job. they all do.
passing the soap back to denji, katsuki lets him lather his hands up amid the gilded violet sparkling on the water. reaching forward, he rests his hands on his boyfriend's, fingers wandering the backs of his hand and sliding between his digits. soap squishes and foams between them, soaping up his own hands alongside the half-devil's, fingers interlocking around the bar. who knows about the stars on the beach though. the city's still going to be "right behind them" with all its lights. they'll find out. as for a dance... good luck, denji.
as the majority of the foam's left on his boyfriend's hands, bakugou takes the bar into his own soaped-up mitts. and the kiss to his lips. no hesitation as he leans into it, tilting his head to gently deepen the touch as he passes the soap in his hands one to the other. then presses one to denji's stomach. yeah, he'll take over from here, stepping in closer to offer his own body for his boyfriend's cleaning touch. circles around his abs, sliding soapy trails to his sides, up his ribs, and around the back of his shoulder to pull him close. a noise in the brush cocks his attention that way, but it's an animal. bastard. back to soaping denji up. there's no way to keep the touch from being intimate. spending time on his arms, working over his pecs, cupping the back of his neck, flicking his ripcord because he'll never not play with it. katsuki rests his forehead against his boyfriend's, alternating between looking into his eyes or dropping his gaze to his hands working later over his body or closing to bask in the sensation of touch and closeness.]
Alright. [The tents will be harder to find compared to sleeping bags. After all, who the fuck in their right mind would want to camp outside the city in this world?] I have skewers for cooking on a fire.
