▶ 001. SEAS THE DAY.

On the morning of the 1st, sirens will blare, forcing every Outsider and Neo Tokyo civilian awake. While it hasn't been activated for a while, every citizen within the city knows this alarm all too well - it wails through the city whenever a Kaiju has been detected, ordering everyone to return to their homes immediately and stay there until they receive further information. Outsiders gazing at Neo Tokyo will see the armored city in its full technological splendour for the first time today. Once the civilians have returned to their homes, machinery within the buildings will work like clockwork, sinking each and every LILITH-augmented building beneath the ground. Just in time, too, because the waves are starting to roar again, crashing beyond the shore and flooding the city once more. Observant Outsiders may note that not every building has been modified. The older ones remain standing, vulnerable to the impending flood. Does anyone live in those buildings? The answer is yes, but that's not a priority at the moment.

Every Outsider will receive a summon, ordering them to prepare for battle. The Kaiju has been identified and located. It's show time.

"Angels of LILITH. We have located the Kaiju coming from beyond the sea. A full mission brief including the information we have gathered will be sent to you immediately. For now, make your way to the bay where your transport will be waiting. Be prepared for anything, but mostly, be prepared to swim."

Waiting for the Outsiders at the bay appear to be ... expensive-looking, personal yachts? This has to be a mistake, right? It's no mistake. Through intel LILITH has exchanged with international companies, it appears that this particular Kaiju has a fondness for overturning civilian yachts, and there's no better way to attract it than to leave it its favourite bait. The goal is to attract these Kaiju towards the boats and then attacking.

The ships may look like they're outfitted for a fancy yacht party. In fact, some exploring down below deck in the lounging room, one may find caviar on fancy ritz, oyster tower, little finger sandwiches with the crusts cut off and bougie smelly cheese that nobody in LILITH's pay grade can identify. On another table, there is fancy ramen spoons filled with microgreens, crystal jelly vinegarette, and a thin slice of parmesan cheese. Some further looking may find some fine aged wine, but you're not here to drink and party, you're here to fight a Kaiju! Right? Right.

Despite the fact everything about these yachts just look like... fancy yachts... they are actual warships that are mounted with naval artillery such as swivel guns, missiles and torpedos. Spears, harpoon guns and fishing nets can also be found and used if an Outsider is more comfortable getting extremely close to the monsters. There's no time for a proper seafaring course, so Outsiders will be given a quick run down on how the controls work, and be sent on their way. They will also be given a special jewel-like implant that attaches to the skin, right along the forehead, and told to wear it if they need to go into the water. "Don't worry about it," the LILITH crew says. "But it'll be one hell of a ride if you use it."

Alongside the crew, Seok Dang seems to be also assisting (?) though he's gotten a hold of the reception food down below. Did he smell like fine wine? Possibly. But that's definitely a fancy, half eaten cracker in his hand. He's also got on a bright, neon life preserver. Maybe someone doesn't know how to swim.

"WHOOO HELLA YEAH, MOTHERFUCKERS. Don't know how to swim? Don't'cha worry. Daddy Dang has got you covered. I know CPR! I give the best CPR! 💖 I'll rescue ya. TONIGHT, WE BALL!"

Nobody uses that phrase anymore, but you know what? You do you, SD.

▶ 002. WHALE WATCHING.

Minutes into their ship's course, the boats will rock violently, as if those already violent waves have somehow come alive. There is something in the water! The mission brief would have been shared with them sometime during their trip, but maybe Outsiders want to pull up on their implant the image and debrief shared once again now that there is some action. The orca-like Kaiju trying to reach the shores of Neo Tokyo is called Shachimon, and she's been the cause of the violent waves and flooding we've seen for the past few weeks. Alongside of her and are her children orca who love to mimic everything their mother does. The biggest one, the matriarch of the pod, is over 60 meters in length - large enough to swallow a boat whole. The younger ones are smaller but just as ferocious, spanning from the size of a car to the size of a bus. The youngsters are a size small enough that they can leap out of the water, sometimes crashing down onto people and ships. Beware!

Shachimon will be fighting to knock over boats, or climbing on boats with their amphibious legs. Once they get their hands on humans or Outsiders, they pull them into the water, tearing them limb from limb to feed. Their control over the waves are no joke, either. With a powerful swing of their tail, they can conjure up tsunamis capable of overturning ships. The matriarch, if left to her own devices, seems bent on submerging Neo Tokyo to make food of all its citizens.

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: Shachimon
HEIGHT: Younger whales are 4 - 18 metres. The matriarch is 60 meters in length.
WEIGHT: 1500kg - 5000kg
CLASS: Highly dangerous.
LOCATION: Large bodies of water
ABILITIES: Use of sonar to detect any water movement. Fast swimmer. Very sturdy body thanks to all that whale blubber. High intelligence - commonly works together as a pod to take down prey. Capable of creating tsunamis that overturn boats. The largest Shachimon can sink a city if not stopped.
WEAKNESS: Electricity (since it will be inside water), dissection, spearing its eyes or blowhole. Loud vibrations within the water can stun or confuse it.
EXTRA NOTES: Dislikes and will attempt to overturn civilian yachts. Carnivorous, eating marine life and human flesh. Sadistic personality, may play with their food prior to eating.

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Lead the Shachimon away from the shore.
✖ Extermination of Shachimon in the water and if they reach the shore.
✖ Protection of nearby fishermen's boats and civilians within those boats.
✖ Teamwork to destroy the matriach Shachimon.
✖ Bring back specimens (live or deceased) for research purposes.

As a note, Outsiders who wish to remain on land and help civilians there may do so. There are waves flooding the city, and some of the smaller, quicker Shachimon will have made it to shore. They will need to be taken care of before they can terrorise the city.

▶ 003. OCEAN GEMS.

Shachimon are most deadly in the water and their go-to strategy is to pull others into their turf, where they have the advantage. That's where those jewel-like implants come in. These implants, called OCEAN GEMS, when attached to the skin, temporarily modify the body. Once activated, nanobots will invade the bloodstream and alter the user's lungs, giving them a set of breathable gills. Their legs will also be altered, giving them fins and the tail of a fish. This is a recent invention by LILITH ever since the first Shachimon was spotted a few years ago, and the technology is still experimental. This means that the transformation process will be significantly uncomfortable, feeling a bit like being asphyxiated and having your legs sewn together at the same time. Deactivating the gem and turning back feels just as uncomfortable, and being experimental technology, it can take a while before the user can successfully revert back. Those who want to fight in the water and lack any weapons or abilities that can be used can request Seok Dang for a weapon. There's a limited supply, but they will be given a special trident. Directly driving the spear into one of the kaiju will electrocute it, giving a higher chance for higher damage. These tridents will be handed out to those who want to use their Ocean Gem and ask.

It's up to Outsiders whether they want to use this new technology or not. Being able to fight the monsters on their own terrain is certainly an advantage, so LILITH would highly encourage it.

▶ 004. MEDICAL BAY.

Healers and those with medical experience will be placed on the warship with a red flag on it. Dr. Spim & Alex will also be present on this ship to assist any major injuries to both LILITH and civilian fisherman alike. This ship is bigger than the others, and while stocked up with the same artillery, it is also stocked with beds and medical supplies. This will be the Outsider's naval medical bay during the siege on the Shachimon and all injured Outsiders or civilians will need to be transported there. This ship will also need to be protected heavily, because once the Shachimon catch on that all the injured, vulnerable prey are being transported to the larger ship, they will start to target that ship in particular. Characters that need immediate medical help should be transported to this ship via a dataportal. Each yacht has a dataportal that can teleport anyone instantly to the medical ship. The dataportals are also located down below deck to prevent them from getting damaged.

▶ 005. THE CALM AFTER THE STORM.

It's a bloody, soggy and gruesome battle and the seas' waves begin to calm down, the sea filled with kaiju carcasses. LILITH's clean up crew is working hastily to collect these corpses, but with the Outsiders' occupied and recovering from their fresh battle, help is limited. Search and rescue scavenges the sea to find any civilians who didn't make it or may need medical help. Meanwhile, the valiant teamwork and effort has paid off. After many hits from many different weapons, artillery, natural abilities, etc. the matriarch kaiju has been downed and sank to the bottom of the ocean floor. LILITH's team will work to retrieve the massive carcass, though it will take awhile. Those who put in notable effort will receive praise and a little extra payout. Outsiders will see an instant transfer of funds to their account: 340,000,000 KRYPTOS. This is roughly about 2500 USD.

The intense battle will have lasted several days and Outsiders are free to go from land to sea as little or as often as they like. It is all over, though, and Outsiders will be called to return to the MAIN BASE for rest and recovery. LILITH will also be searching for the rift where the kaiju came from while Outsiders recover. A message from an unknown voice will pop up an hour or so after all Outsiders have returned to the MAIN BASE. Outsiders may use this time to socialize in a commons area, wash up in the showers, get a meal in the cafeteria or rest.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our first Kaiju log! All prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, characters can choose to fight in the ocean, on the ships or stay behind on land and protect the city. At the end of the siege, characters who accepted an Ocean Gem will be asked to return it. It's experimental technology, so LILITH will need to do more tweaking before they can properly release it. Outsiders who use the gem may have whatever fish tail they like, as long as it is a sea creature.

Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the Shachimon matriarch will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).

Below is also the month at a glance. We understand the CALENDAR has been a little inconsistent, but the mod team is sorting all of this out. Expect a FEEDBACK POST this month as well so we can check in with the playerbase and make any adjustments to the game. This log, even if the time stamp says JANUARY, will count for FEBRUARY AC.

[ she's breathing... somehow. her chest rises and falls, but she's not breathing through her nose. it's through the fluorescent lights from her back, evident with the bubbles emitting from their ends. don't ask how it works, it just does.

but ye she's dead, and maybe hsy is heartless enough to let her swim with the fishes and not in euphemistic way. she's going to sink if the other woman doesn't act fast... ]

[ she's got a pot of boiling water going, and she just managed to get her tentacles on a packet of instant ramen. another tentacle has just finished cutting up green onions. ]

Don't let me stop you. I'll be done in a second.

[ A full force battle against giant monsters isn't going to be quiet by any means, but the explosions are a particularly notable attack that Nanami can't help but focus on. Bakugo is doing a significant amount of damage, both blasting into the smaller kaiju and drawing more of them in.

Nanami picks a position he can tell is going to be along Bakugo's route jumping between yachts, and when the charges send one of the shachimon flying onto the deck closer to him, he follows after that with an attack of his own, slicing across the thick torso of the creature with his knife. He might as well take advantage of this chaos if Bakugo is going to blast the kaiju within range. Although, he also has to comment on the method: ]

You're enthusiastic. Do you fish like that?

[ Yelling and cursing out his prey, mainly. Not that it's not working, but it's definitely loud. The shachimon on the yacht is also shrieking as Nanami continues swinging at it and dodging the attempts at return strikes from its tail and large mouth, so between the monster and the hero alone it's a noisy battle. ]

[ Well, Yuwon seems to have made himself a home on one of the sofas. It would be a perfectly normal thing to see if they weren't about to face incoming sea monsters, but since they are supposedly fishing for death, Nanami does stop near the side where Yuwon's head is resting to look down at the covering he's chosen for his face. ]

You're going to kick the food over.

[ You know, just by the way. It's expensive. Although he can't really be that surprised by the laissez-faire attitude on display either. ]

Are you bored already? We've barely started.

[ Nanami is half dozing despite the coffee, eyes unfocused and fixed ahead of him in some state of absent thought when he catches Raidou moving closer and stirs back to consciousness. He's clean, so that has to count for something, but he's always been a direct fighter who dealt in close quarters, and there are definitely claw marks that the bandages don't completely cover up among various other odd wounds. At least he's not bleeding, though. That must count for something.

Nanami looks at the offered hand and then to Raidou, who is also looking a little injured and a lot exhausted. ]

Shouldn't you heal yourself?

[ It's his first thought when at looking how tired Raidou already is. Nanami sits up, sleepily gesturing to the spot he just vacated on the couch. ]

Sit down. When you say you can heal, do you mean because of LILITH?

[ All in all, they're doing pretty well against weird monsters they haven't seen before in person. The younger ones at least seem more vulnerable, but the matriarch is making for a difficult target, and unfortunately she is the one they really need to take down if they want a victory. Between hacking at the smaller creatures boarding their yachts, Nanami makes his way toward Shion once he happens to see him in a similar position. ]

We're not going to make any progress unless we keep attacking her.

[ He says that around fending off other shachimon, keeping within earshot of Shion. They can communicate through the implants, but he's trying not to rely on that too much either. ]

If we find an opening, we should take it.

[stresspoint]

[ Nanami is focused on defending the yachts for the most part. He doesn't activate the ocean gem, so he really has no way of fighting in the water, and the shachimon are aggressive enough that he doesn't really have to go out hunting too much to reach them. If he moves from yacht to yacht, they are already trying to eat him.

He turns when he hears Yuji's voice, only enough to catch sight of him while he focuses on one of the kaiju that he's already fighting. Nanami is already bleeding from some gashes on his arms from the clawed fins of the shachimon he's faced, but that's expected when they are dealing with monsters. With this many creatures, they're going to sustain injuries. ]

Itadori-kun.

[ They're still fighting, so he doesn't say more at first. Instead, when he yacht tilts, he slides, going slow to the ground and letting his body slip right up to the smaller monster, using that momentum to cut along the length of its side. The creature screams and falls back, and when the yacht stops tipping, Nanami gets back to his feet and walks over to Yuji again, leaving the monster's corpse on the deck behind him. ]

Can you knock them out of the water?

[ If they can get the kaiju out of the sea, they will have clearer shots to make their attacks. ]

[ Nanami happens to end up on the yacht Taryon is piloting as he catches sight of the threatening pod. When the ship suddenly takes a sharp turn, Nanami has to grip the side of the ship to keep from being knocked entirely off of his feet. Luckily he doesn't get tossed overboard, but it's not an easy ride. And after they essentially go through one of the waves, Nanami looks a little like a cold, drowned rat. They haven't even reached the pod of kaiju yet. ]

Take the turns easier! Where are you going?

[ He only knows that Taryon must have decided to change course for a reason, but from his point on the aft deck, Nanami doesn't see the fishing boats or the kaiju charging at them. ]

What's going on?!

[ He still needs to catch up to the plan. ]

[cranekin]

(Where could he go? The answer is obvious: Somewhere dry. But they're out at sea and he has no intention of retreating not when he can still wants to fight. Not when he still can.

He pushes himself off gently, making a point to stand on his own two feet. He holds his sword up in front of him and wipes at the wet blade with the edge of his sleeve. It doesn't do any good. He's soaked to the bone. When this isn't enough, he swings his blade at the air, flicking droplets around him,)

At the start of the year, did you feel it, Raidou-kun? The silent wishes written on each votive plaque! Intangible wishes given real form with each word! (Just thinking about it is enough to make him want to keep going. Just speaking into existence seems to fill him with more energy. He's tired but he can feel a second wind coming.) How can I turn away when they ask for strength and victory?

(All of those prayers and wishes to overcome challenges, to get through the year, for peace and safety, for strength in upcoming battles...)

Until the end, I'll stay.

(Whether it be the end of the battle or himself. Even in his weakened state, he won't retreat.)

[He sits down giving Nanami a barely perceptible nod.]

I got the healing factor upgrade a few days before the kaiju arrived. I'm glad I did. It's been very helpful.

[He touches the bandages on his arm. It's doing much better.] It doesn't work as well on yourself, if at all. I'm alright, though. This will heal soon enough. [It'll fix itself up once he gets some rest. For now, though, he shyly offers a hand to Nanami again.]

I know it's strange how it works on others, but it really does. So if you need it...

Mm.

[ He tries to remain as even and unaffected as always, but when Raidou moves his arm again, offering his hand toward him, Nanami pulls back, almost cringing away from it. He recovers right after, forcing himself back to calm, but the flash of fear was there. ]

I'm not- sure if I trust what they're doing to us completely yet.

[ Is he going to need healed, though? Yes, probably. In some way he'll need to address medical attention. But at the same time, Nanami looks more tense than he did now that it's out in the open. ]

Why did you agree to that modification?

[ He's uneasy. Maybe he really shouldn't be, but the idea is definitely making him nervous. ]

[ they finally get to see what's the big deal about the kaiju's they've been hearing about, and they have surely been a handful— nothing too extreme for devil hunters, though. after being deprived of embracing the identity of chainsaw man, enduring long months of being threatened, and getting mindfucked by the church and public safety at the same time, it was freeing to be able to pull out his chainsaws again and have people call him by the name he missed so much.

today has been a bliss, and it felt amazing, every second of it. in fact, he's still relishing the aftermath of all that gore and feeding, holding a crooked smile as he opens the door for aki. ]

I guess the arm works.

[ he steps back, subtly welcoming his old friend to make himself comfortable. thanks to the gift card bakugou offered him a few nights ago, denji managed to buy an extra bed. there is no formal agreement between them, no pressure, but the bed is here just in case someone didn't feel like being alone. ]

How's your first big mission? Aside from slapping the control devil ...

[Raidou finally gets his moment, and slams the trident in. He holds on to the weapon until the creature is finally still, withdrawing it with a hefty pull, immediately heading over to do the same on the second orca. He has to get close enough without getting hit and electrocuted himself, and waiting for just the right opening to throw the trident down through the blowhole and right through the creatures head.

Once the creature is still, he gives Bakugo a satisfactory nod, and takes a steadying deep breath. He withdraws his weapon with a hefty pull.]

[the_fourteenth]

[Raidou looks concerned about how Nanami pulls away like that. He'd not thrilled with having to hold people's hands, sure, but that was an startling reaction. Luckily for Nanami, the question he asks distracts him.]

I'm not sure I trust them either, but... It seemed like it could really help others, and it has. I've healed many people who would have spent weeks recovering otherwise. It's remarkable.

[After a thoughtful moment of hesitation, he adds:]

Normally I'd have my demons to help with healing spells. This is a good alternative.

[stresspoint]

[ He does listen, and even though he's breathing a bit faster than before, for the most part Nanami stays calm. The ability does help others. He's aware of that. But at the same time he's quietly wary, like a cat lounging while ready to dash across the room at the slightest wrong movement. Certain things haven't completely settled for him.

The comment does at least catch his interest and distract him from the healing ability momentarily. At least it's a way to avoid it for the moment. ]

You have demons?

[cranekin]

(It's already in his head. Aki can't make it any worse.

He looks down at the towels and maybe Aki can see it. Maybe he can see the way the gears are turning in his mind and when he takes one towel in his hands, he looks up at Aki and smiles,)

Some tea would be good too. And some sweets.

(How far can he push...... can he run a whole mile with this inch........)

[the_fourteenth]

... [Raidou watches Tsurumaru, brow knitted with concern. It's hypocritical for him to accuse anyone of exhausting themselves, as it's something he does all the time himself.]

Don't overwork yourself. I don't want to see anyone eaten by an orca on my watch.

[He puts a hand out again as a reminder.]

If you need healing, just say so. I can do it.

[But for now, he's going to grab another spear before that thing surfaces again.]

Really? How lucky!

(So many people got dunked into the sea. He's envious of anyone who managed to stay out the water. Meanwhile, Tsurumaru presses through the sand, leading the way over towards the lifeguard station,)

The sea in this era is no good. It's even worse than I remember...

I am-- was a summoner. I worked along with them in protecting my city from supernatural threats. But they were not brought along with me here.

[He looks distant. It's so much more than that, but that's the simplest explanation.]

If getting this upgrade meant there was more I could do for my team, than it's been completely worth it. The last few days have shown it has been.

[Going through internal surgery without anesthetics was horrendous, but at least Yuji was there with his own healing factor to help.]

The last time was better!

(The sea wasn't as violent. The enemies were more familiar. This battle is more difficult.)

Do you think you can keep up?

That's what a summoner does?

[ He really should have asked that, huh? ]

I thought you were a swordsman.

[ Well, obviously, but Nanami is so used to sorcerers talking about their abilities that he didn't think to dig much further than "powered swordsman" who probably had other techniques available. He looks genuinely surprised by that. ]

So they couldn't bring your demons... and you can't call them from here?

[ It's worth asking. Although as the conversation shifts back to the healing ability, Nanami puts a hand over his own arm, absently covering some of the scratches that he bandaged. ]

Still, you underwent something like that? You shouldn't have to.

[the_fourteenth]

I am. You have to be well trained to be a summoner with a title like mine. [A swordsman, a marksman, a summoner, an investigator, a protector. So many roles for one teenager to be saddled with.]

I cannot. Amamiya... He has something similar. He has his, ah, personas. Some of them even look similar to the demons I had. But his are... [He pauses, searching for the words, putting a hand to his heart.] within him. Demons are their own entities. Willful. They work with you as an ally.

[He misses them. He'd always say he worked alone, but did he really?]

I know I didn't have to. I wanted to. I don't regret it.

Then follow my orders like a good fucking mecha pilot and stop bitching!

[Saving the world is definitely a competition, but even Bakugou's not going to be able to do it on his own. There are far too many enemies to deal with. It's not that he's any better with being shanghaied than Elan, but he is a hero in the end. And these people need help. Refusing to help people who really need it would be a mockery of everything the heroes in his world stood for. Especially now... But that said, Bakugou keeps in mind his own loyalties. More to the Outsiders than LILITH.

Someone can't call themselves "unheroic" if they're willing to do heroic things. If Elan was truly villainous, or even apathetic, he wouldn't be helping as he is now. So far, LILITH hasn't proven to be able to force them to act, so... this is Elan's choice, whether he wants to admit it or not.

There's a fucking robot flying after him and it's pretty damn cool. One day they'll have to race. Today is not that day. The other building comes into view, surrounded by a small lake of water, most of the civilians having retreated to the roof and top floors. Unfortunately, the building itself looks damaged enough, it's not going to be salvageable...]

The south side of the building's starting to buckle. [That explains why all the people are on the north side, trying to balance it out.] Prop it up for now.

Was your family the same way?

[ He picked up that Raidou was raised with this, but having no family line in sorcery himself, Nanami doesn't have the same experience. The stress of being part of a clan of summoners must be similar to that of sorcerers. When Raidou describes the difference between demons and personas, that actually gets a very faint smile out of Nanami. ]

So you do have friends.

[ Aha. ]

You seem like someone who wouldn't regret anything as long as it helped someone else.

[The noise may be a distraction to other Outsiders, but it's also a distraction and interference to the kaiju. Sonar calling gets broken by the sonic booms and that's not even the fiery impact that comes with it. Dynamight focuses on the monsters at hand, but when he spots an Outsider (especially one he know) he makes sure to keep them in attention as well. He has no intention of losing an ally in this fucking sea clash.

Landing on another yacht, he ducks under a shachimon's claw swipe, runs a line of explosions along its arm to cripple it, and with another heavy explosion to the gut and push of his hand, more or less explosion judo flips the entire monster over his head and onto the deck with a resounding thud. Before he can capitalize on the toss, red carves across the glistening white skin and he finds himself facing...

What the fuck's a salary man doing out here? Yeah, of course he recognizes the guy is an Outsider like him, but... seriously? Maybe he's like Re-Destro; going to battle in a suit gives the air of confidence. Even if it does look fucking stupid.]

Haa?! You think I wanna scare the fucking fish away?! [One, no he does not fish like that, because he's usually quiet while waiting for something to bite. Two, hell yes he does fish like that, turning into a bombastic fighter as soon as the fish is hooked. Nanami can probably picture it easily.

Unfortunately, since the only contact he's had with Nanami is via text, he has no clue who this guy is.]
