▶ 001. SEAS THE DAY.

On the morning of the 1st, sirens will blare, forcing every Outsider and Neo Tokyo civilian awake. While it hasn't been activated for a while, every citizen within the city knows this alarm all too well - it wails through the city whenever a Kaiju has been detected, ordering everyone to return to their homes immediately and stay there until they receive further information. Outsiders gazing at Neo Tokyo will see the armored city in its full technological splendour for the first time today. Once the civilians have returned to their homes, machinery within the buildings will work like clockwork, sinking each and every LILITH-augmented building beneath the ground. Just in time, too, because the waves are starting to roar again, crashing beyond the shore and flooding the city once more. Observant Outsiders may note that not every building has been modified. The older ones remain standing, vulnerable to the impending flood. Does anyone live in those buildings? The answer is yes, but that's not a priority at the moment.

Every Outsider will receive a summon, ordering them to prepare for battle. The Kaiju has been identified and located. It's show time.

"Angels of LILITH. We have located the Kaiju coming from beyond the sea. A full mission brief including the information we have gathered will be sent to you immediately. For now, make your way to the bay where your transport will be waiting. Be prepared for anything, but mostly, be prepared to swim."

Waiting for the Outsiders at the bay appear to be ... expensive-looking, personal yachts? This has to be a mistake, right? It's no mistake. Through intel LILITH has exchanged with international companies, it appears that this particular Kaiju has a fondness for overturning civilian yachts, and there's no better way to attract it than to leave it its favourite bait. The goal is to attract these Kaiju towards the boats and then attacking.

The ships may look like they're outfitted for a fancy yacht party. In fact, some exploring down below deck in the lounging room, one may find caviar on fancy ritz, oyster tower, little finger sandwiches with the crusts cut off and bougie smelly cheese that nobody in LILITH's pay grade can identify. On another table, there is fancy ramen spoons filled with microgreens, crystal jelly vinegarette, and a thin slice of parmesan cheese. Some further looking may find some fine aged wine, but you're not here to drink and party, you're here to fight a Kaiju! Right? Right.

Despite the fact everything about these yachts just look like... fancy yachts... they are actual warships that are mounted with naval artillery such as swivel guns, missiles and torpedos. Spears, harpoon guns and fishing nets can also be found and used if an Outsider is more comfortable getting extremely close to the monsters. There's no time for a proper seafaring course, so Outsiders will be given a quick run down on how the controls work, and be sent on their way. They will also be given a special jewel-like implant that attaches to the skin, right along the forehead, and told to wear it if they need to go into the water. "Don't worry about it," the LILITH crew says. "But it'll be one hell of a ride if you use it."

Alongside the crew, Seok Dang seems to be also assisting (?) though he's gotten a hold of the reception food down below. Did he smell like fine wine? Possibly. But that's definitely a fancy, half eaten cracker in his hand. He's also got on a bright, neon life preserver. Maybe someone doesn't know how to swim.

"WHOOO HELLA YEAH, MOTHERFUCKERS. Don't know how to swim? Don't'cha worry. Daddy Dang has got you covered. I know CPR! I give the best CPR! 💖 I'll rescue ya. TONIGHT, WE BALL!"

Nobody uses that phrase anymore, but you know what? You do you, SD.

▶ 002. WHALE WATCHING.

Minutes into their ship's course, the boats will rock violently, as if those already violent waves have somehow come alive. There is something in the water! The mission brief would have been shared with them sometime during their trip, but maybe Outsiders want to pull up on their implant the image and debrief shared once again now that there is some action. The orca-like Kaiju trying to reach the shores of Neo Tokyo is called Shachimon, and she's been the cause of the violent waves and flooding we've seen for the past few weeks. Alongside of her and are her children orca who love to mimic everything their mother does. The biggest one, the matriarch of the pod, is over 60 meters in length - large enough to swallow a boat whole. The younger ones are smaller but just as ferocious, spanning from the size of a car to the size of a bus. The youngsters are a size small enough that they can leap out of the water, sometimes crashing down onto people and ships. Beware!

Shachimon will be fighting to knock over boats, or climbing on boats with their amphibious legs. Once they get their hands on humans or Outsiders, they pull them into the water, tearing them limb from limb to feed. Their control over the waves are no joke, either. With a powerful swing of their tail, they can conjure up tsunamis capable of overturning ships. The matriarch, if left to her own devices, seems bent on submerging Neo Tokyo to make food of all its citizens.

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: Shachimon
HEIGHT: Younger whales are 4 - 18 metres. The matriarch is 60 meters in length.
WEIGHT: 1500kg - 5000kg
CLASS: Highly dangerous.
LOCATION: Large bodies of water
ABILITIES: Use of sonar to detect any water movement. Fast swimmer. Very sturdy body thanks to all that whale blubber. High intelligence - commonly works together as a pod to take down prey. Capable of creating tsunamis that overturn boats. The largest Shachimon can sink a city if not stopped.
WEAKNESS: Electricity (since it will be inside water), dissection, spearing its eyes or blowhole. Loud vibrations within the water can stun or confuse it.
EXTRA NOTES: Dislikes and will attempt to overturn civilian yachts. Carnivorous, eating marine life and human flesh. Sadistic personality, may play with their food prior to eating.

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Lead the Shachimon away from the shore.
✖ Extermination of Shachimon in the water and if they reach the shore.
✖ Protection of nearby fishermen's boats and civilians within those boats.
✖ Teamwork to destroy the matriach Shachimon.
✖ Bring back specimens (live or deceased) for research purposes.

As a note, Outsiders who wish to remain on land and help civilians there may do so. There are waves flooding the city, and some of the smaller, quicker Shachimon will have made it to shore. They will need to be taken care of before they can terrorise the city.

▶ 003. OCEAN GEMS.

Shachimon are most deadly in the water and their go-to strategy is to pull others into their turf, where they have the advantage. That's where those jewel-like implants come in. These implants, called OCEAN GEMS, when attached to the skin, temporarily modify the body. Once activated, nanobots will invade the bloodstream and alter the user's lungs, giving them a set of breathable gills. Their legs will also be altered, giving them fins and the tail of a fish. This is a recent invention by LILITH ever since the first Shachimon was spotted a few years ago, and the technology is still experimental. This means that the transformation process will be significantly uncomfortable, feeling a bit like being asphyxiated and having your legs sewn together at the same time. Deactivating the gem and turning back feels just as uncomfortable, and being experimental technology, it can take a while before the user can successfully revert back. Those who want to fight in the water and lack any weapons or abilities that can be used can request Seok Dang for a weapon. There's a limited supply, but they will be given a special trident. Directly driving the spear into one of the kaiju will electrocute it, giving a higher chance for higher damage. These tridents will be handed out to those who want to use their Ocean Gem and ask.

It's up to Outsiders whether they want to use this new technology or not. Being able to fight the monsters on their own terrain is certainly an advantage, so LILITH would highly encourage it.

▶ 004. MEDICAL BAY.

Healers and those with medical experience will be placed on the warship with a red flag on it. Dr. Spim & Alex will also be present on this ship to assist any major injuries to both LILITH and civilian fisherman alike. This ship is bigger than the others, and while stocked up with the same artillery, it is also stocked with beds and medical supplies. This will be the Outsider's naval medical bay during the siege on the Shachimon and all injured Outsiders or civilians will need to be transported there. This ship will also need to be protected heavily, because once the Shachimon catch on that all the injured, vulnerable prey are being transported to the larger ship, they will start to target that ship in particular. Characters that need immediate medical help should be transported to this ship via a dataportal. Each yacht has a dataportal that can teleport anyone instantly to the medical ship. The dataportals are also located down below deck to prevent them from getting damaged.

▶ 005. THE CALM AFTER THE STORM.

It's a bloody, soggy and gruesome battle and the seas' waves begin to calm down, the sea filled with kaiju carcasses. LILITH's clean up crew is working hastily to collect these corpses, but with the Outsiders' occupied and recovering from their fresh battle, help is limited. Search and rescue scavenges the sea to find any civilians who didn't make it or may need medical help. Meanwhile, the valiant teamwork and effort has paid off. After many hits from many different weapons, artillery, natural abilities, etc. the matriarch kaiju has been downed and sank to the bottom of the ocean floor. LILITH's team will work to retrieve the massive carcass, though it will take awhile. Those who put in notable effort will receive praise and a little extra payout. Outsiders will see an instant transfer of funds to their account: 340,000,000 KRYPTOS. This is roughly about 2500 USD.

The intense battle will have lasted several days and Outsiders are free to go from land to sea as little or as often as they like. It is all over, though, and Outsiders will be called to return to the MAIN BASE for rest and recovery. LILITH will also be searching for the rift where the kaiju came from while Outsiders recover. A message from an unknown voice will pop up an hour or so after all Outsiders have returned to the MAIN BASE. Outsiders may use this time to socialize in a commons area, wash up in the showers, get a meal in the cafeteria or rest.

"Good work."

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our first Kaiju log! All prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, characters can choose to fight in the ocean, on the ships or stay behind on land and protect the city. At the end of the siege, characters who accepted an Ocean Gem will be asked to return it. It's experimental technology, so LILITH will need to do more tweaking before they can properly release it. Outsiders who use the gem may have whatever fish tail they like, as long as it is a sea creature.

Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the Shachimon matriarch will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).

Below is also the month at a glance. We understand the CALENDAR has been a little inconsistent, but the mod team is sorting all of this out. Expect a FEEDBACK POST this month as well so we can check in with the playerbase and make any adjustments to the game. This log, even if the time stamp says JANUARY, will count for FEBRUARY AC.

[So many at once. Raidou feels like he jinxed them. He'll stay near the surface where they can work together. Luckily, he's quite fast. The one coming into Yuwon's blind spot gets a spear through the back tail, which isn't enough to stop it but makes for a good distraction. The skin of the shachimon is so thick that it's hard to get through it even with a spear, and he has to hold on to it while the creature tries to thrash him away. Yuwon probably will get an idea of how Raidou got knocked so cleanly out of the water earlier.

Once he retrieves his weapon, the shachimon turns around to come right at him, but he's ready with the spear.]

[ And just like that, Sooyoung isn't Lucy's problem anymore. Even if she's saying something, she's already way too far away to be heard. ]

[ Apparently, she's determined to make Ish wet anyway. ]

How would I know?! It looked like you completely lost it and wouldn't come back! [ Wait a second. ] So far?

[ He's not a perfect soldier, but... He shakes his head, shrugging. ]

I don't really care. I expect I'll die either way.

[OF COURSE IT'S BETTER! Hero names are supposed to strike the opponent with intimidation, capture the essence of the image or ability the hero has, and give the civilians around them a sense of confident, relief, and protection, knowing the hero has arrived. Bakugou glares to the side, but doesn't mention further on the cough. They have bigger things to worry about now, getting the civilians trapped in the building to safety.

At least Elan is better at the directions than Bakugou is... The people seem to trust his voice more and would rather go with the guy not threatening to blast them off the building.

Also it's a good thing Bakugou is guarding the west side of the building, because he definitely would have started throwing people out the windows to get them down the damn slide. Adults can help the scared children and those able can help the disabled down the slide, dealing with fear of heights as needed.]

So the rich buildings can take shelter during a kaiju raid, but the poor are left to get wrecked. Tch. Even with 30% of the population left, there's still social divide.

[ another precise stab at its eyes, and the shachimon falls with a cry before dan heng as he digs out cloud-piercer from its body, a quiet settling in as he tries to catch his breath.

the wave of kaiju, seemingly endless, halts for the time being-- and with that lull in battle, dan heng takes a moment to survey his surroundings, looking for allies and survivors to assist. it doesn't take long for him to spot a lone (familiar) figure floating in the water, and as he moves to fish the body out of the water, his suspicions are confirmed.

fortune is never kind to them both, and their fates have been intertwined once again. ]

Ren. [ dan heng has seen ren die before, has been the very reason for his death before even, and while he knows that ren will inevitably revive-- the rules of this place are still vastly unknown. and so his hands push against ren's chest (one, two, one, two) in clumsy, successive motions that he's read about in a book.

while he's not unfamiliar with rescue, dan heng is no medic— so he does the only other thing he’s read about and presses his lips against ren’s. ]

[ despite appearing as composed as usual, it's clear that he relaxes at her relenting to let him temporarily "have his way." normally, he wasn't the type to be so affected by another person's words or whims, and yet it's clear he wasn't as impervious to them as he normally would have been. though, it's mostly in the subtle hints, including the slight way his lips curve upwards at her choice in snack.

she is always eating, huh? somehow, he finds it cute, even if he has literally no reason to. but, as backwards as his thoughts currently is for his tentacled ... companion, it's great she asked a question, if just because it allows his mind to concentrate on something else. something as innocuous as... ]

Do they have jerky? Or plain bread? [ is it time for canned bread...

but, he reaches over and pays out by sliding his wrist over the machine's payment light. (i don't actually know how it works, bc i am too lazy to read the tech page). though, he's already putting his payment thru. ] Anything to drink?

He really does pick her up and... it's nice? It's not something she really experiences since she's larger than most people around her. She knows it's temporary, but she gives her a small sense of safety despite that she is struggling right now and doing her best to keep her sanity in check. She takes a deep breath as he asks the question, leaning her head into his body.]

I'll be fine~ I've been through worse things, but I am still alive. [And at the end of the day, that alone is all that matters.] Shouldn't I be asking you that question?

[She still isn't that comfortable with it, Nobara isn't the touchy feely type after all, but since it is necessary for the healing she lets it be. If he was just hugging her out of the blue, it may have earned him (another) thump on the head!]

[And yet she left Lilith's staff upgrade her chip for extra style options... suspicious..]

[She knows it works after the demonstration given in his room after the surgery, but she never asked how it works. Surely there must be some sort of negative effect for its use.]

[Now that the immediate threat has been dealt with, Nobara relaxes just enough to shoot out a bright smile at the compliment. She thinks it was rather precise too!]

Thanks! I loved the way you kicked its skull in and sent it flying!

[Rushing over, Nobara soon crouches down for a moment to properly inspect Yor and her suit's heels.]

Did you made modifications to it? I wouldn't be able to run in them, but it looks stylish!

[Her own footwear isn't exactly military standard either, looking more like fashionable ankle boots with just a teensy bit of a heel.]

[ It's not about strong or weak, the thought of implants makes his skin crawl. No thanks, he's had enough of his body being messed with, and it appalls him that LILITH's managed to sway people into going along and sacrificing their perfectly good body.

Anyways, death. His favorite conversation topic of choice. ]

[ Just as she says, she's not far behind. Using her vectors to alter her own trajectory is second nature to her by now, so she flies and lands on another Shachimon nearby as if she's a spear herself. Slamming right into the beast's head before bouncing away onto a floating piece of yacht hull from an earlier attack.

The Shachimon Raidou's taken on doesn't accept the blow willingly, of course, and Lucy forgoes finishing off the one she hit in favor of leaping at that one instead. Her vectors slam into its eyes to blind it and hold its front limbs to keep it from trying to swim away or thrash more. Plenty of chance for her to slide along its back toward Raidou with her hand out. ]

C'mon!

[ She had half a mind to head back to the base anyway, but now? With someone else backing up the decision? Yeah, it only sounds like a better and better idea. She's had about all she can stand of this cold, wet, dreary, blood-drenched beach.

It gives her just the slightest bit of good humor. Just enough for her to crack wise despite her weary, aching bones. ]

Just don't try getting frisky in there. Or you're going by yourself.

[ He's determined not to sacrifice anything to the gundam if he can help it. Elan sighs over call. Sooyoung being Sooyoung even now relieves the battle of its tension somewhat. ]

Why am I not surprised? You owe me a drink for this madness.

[ Nevermind that he's underage. When you don't know if you're going to make it to your twenties, you've gotta live it up.

He takes them into a dive, letting Pharact descend in freefall like a silent shadow onto one of its hopefully still-unsuspecting eyes. ]

[Rodya pulls herself back on to her feet once the boat finally slows itself down, thankfully kept her grip on the boat and her axe in time despite being shaken around like a toy in the hands of a wild child. It's a good thing that their communications are implanted in their eyes because if it was a phone or another device, her's would have been long gone by now.]

Ha... [She makes a breath out of sheer exasperation as she rubs her face, shifting back into Rime Shank.] Even if I say no, it's most likely going to head in our direction. These sacks of fat are really getting on my nerves.

[She hates that she is back on the water after such a nice break, but... she's here. No matter why she walked back onto a boat to go fight giant fish, she is here and that's all there is to it. Life is going to be unfair as always and while she will bitch and moan, she will still fight.]

Plus, it would be bad if I start to get rusty. [She can't fall behind, especially when there are stronger people around her in LILITH, their journey back home is going to get worse, and the things that she is trying to avoid will be shoved in her face again. She watches the waters around them, prepared for whatever decides to attack them next instead of looking at Ishmael.] We don't have Dante or our usual tricks, but they are still gonna get crushed no matter what happens.

[She's not going to make these kaiju easy if she is on their meal plan.]

[ the spear to the back of shachimon is more than enough for yuwon to regain his bearings as he gives a quick nod of gratitiude as he focuses straight back on the shachimon in front him. he gives a second slash, before lifting his leg and kicking them firmly back into the water.

with his dark purplish flames, he uses it to try and anchor the shachimon in place so that they both have an easier time with them. it doesn't exactly work perfectly, but it does seem to throw the creatures off guard all the same. honestly, he's never sure what affect his flames will have on the creatures, but as long as it can cause just a touch of confusion, that's enough for them to get an edge in. ] I think you're good to finish him.

[ is his guess. between being being stabbed and now this, that one is probably on its last legs. or not, but it'd probably be enough to incapacitate them for now and easier to kill for later. as for the rest, he guesses that's the work in progress. he half-wished they all just came at once and stayed there.

it's hard when they slip into the depths of the water— making for a slippery target. ]

[ The structure shows visible signs of falling apart and he doesn't like it. He keeps his eyes peeled and doesn't stray far from the swordsman, also giving a wide berth to any of the flooded areas in case monsters still lurked under the waters. ]

They'd have to be in bad shape to not hightail it out of here.

[ Anyone can see the building falling apart, unless they happened to be badly injured or unconscious. ]

We should make it quick and get out of here ourselves.

[ Elan doesn't care for a thorough search, LILITH can send in their own drones to do the work if it matters so much. No way he wants to die in a place like this. ]

[the_fourteenth]

[Raidou hangs on as Lucy makes her attack. There's not much else he can do this far back on the creature, but he can get his footing once it stops thrashing as much.

As she slides towards him, he wrenches the spear out with a impressive amount of force. He's ready to to take her hand as she passes.]

Get me near its face.

[He's not sure how Lucy does what she does, but it seems effective at getting him places fast. Once he has access to its eyes or blowhole with this spear, it's over for this kaiju.]

[Raidou is fast, and before the shachimon has a chance to recover from Yuwon's blast, and Raidou comes up from under it to spear it through the head. It's the only place you can aim for with this weapon, with the rest of the creature too thick-skinned to do lethal damage quickly. Time is of the essence here with how many there are. Good thing Raidou is a fast fighter.]

Keep doing that.

[Raidou can stay near the surface of the water, luring them his way with those flashy fins of his. He's thinking their one-two punches together can take care of several of them, for as long as they can keep it up. He's not sure how long Yuwon can keep managing spells like that, but he's hoping it's awhile. Don't ask if Raidou's tired. He's fine. This is all fine.]

All right.

[ He's worried less about them reaching the target and more about what will happen when they manage to get there. The matriarch is constantly moving, and he's sure that any hit they make will have her thrashing--so they'll need to get away once they make it. ]

We'll have to pull back. Once you make it, get ready to retreat.

[ He's going to have to come up with a way to get them to safety, but that's definitely going to depend on accuracy and timing. ]

I've been prepared to die since the beginning. The first thing my sensei told me was that I was going to be executed.

[ It was just a matter of time. ]

[eyescar]

That's okay. I'll handle it for us instead.

[ Maybe he should've been a little more thoughtful about the healing, but it's too late now. There's no going back! ]

It doesn't hurt at all. It almost feels like I'm not doing anything at all.

[yuwon]

[ the denial is so... palpable that he doesn't even feel the need to address it. he isn't sure where this dishonesty stems from, but he guesses it never hurt to practice caution. the idea of it is honestly a bit humorous, especially when laced with such colorful language. the smirk on his lips aside: ] Don't forget that where there's smoke, there's fire. [ is all the metaphor he feels he needs before giving a small nod. ]

I'm not attached to just one weapon or skill. I'll use whatever is more effective for the time being. [ though, he supposed it wasn't a complete lie.

he did especially like using his edge of nightfall. but, would he supplement this with a demonic blade or something else if it was more effective for the time being? sure. but, he knows how complicated this would get to explain and so... once more, he just doesn't.

though, at bakugou's words... ] Oh, right. [ he brushes it off. ] I am sure there is a way to quantify anyone's abilities, but that's fine. The important part is you can take a hit. It's a lot harder to fight otherwise. [ says yuwon who often fought against creatures that could one shot k.o. him and most rankers in the worst case scenario. ]

I owe you some of the fancy snacks, too. [ There's no need to say that he helped her a lot today with this impromptu Gundam ride, right. ] So we're even. I hate being indebted to assholes like you.

[ Or to anyone for that matter but that sounds way better.

After a few moments, Sooyoung pulls out her sword and jumps off, flying down at a high speed. Before she's gone, she manages to send Elan one voice message. ]
