CONTENT WARNINGS: thalassophobia, natural disaster, drowning, body horror, violence, blood & gore.

▶ 001. SEAS THE DAY.

On the morning of the 1st, sirens will blare, forcing every Outsider and Neo Tokyo civilian awake. While it hasn't been activated for a while, every citizen within the city knows this alarm all too well - it wails through the city whenever a Kaiju has been detected, ordering everyone to return to their homes immediately and stay there until they receive further information. Outsiders gazing at Neo Tokyo will see the armored city in its full technological splendour for the first time today. Once the civilians have returned to their homes, machinery within the buildings will work like clockwork, sinking each and every LILITH-augmented building beneath the ground. Just in time, too, because the waves are starting to roar again, crashing beyond the shore and flooding the city once more. Observant Outsiders may note that not every building has been modified. The older ones remain standing, vulnerable to the impending flood. Does anyone live in those buildings? The answer is yes, but that's not a priority at the moment.

Every Outsider will receive a summon, ordering them to prepare for battle. The Kaiju has been identified and located. It's show time.

"Angels of LILITH. We have located the Kaiju coming from beyond the sea. A full mission brief including the information we have gathered will be sent to you immediately. For now, make your way to the bay where your transport will be waiting. Be prepared for anything, but mostly, be prepared to swim."

Waiting for the Outsiders at the bay appear to be ... expensive-looking, personal yachts? This has to be a mistake, right? It's no mistake. Through intel LILITH has exchanged with international companies, it appears that this particular Kaiju has a fondness for overturning civilian yachts, and there's no better way to attract it than to leave it its favourite bait. The goal is to attract these Kaiju towards the boats and then attacking.

The ships may look like they're outfitted for a fancy yacht party. In fact, some exploring down below deck in the lounging room, one may find caviar on fancy ritz, oyster tower, little finger sandwiches with the crusts cut off and bougie smelly cheese that nobody in LILITH's pay grade can identify. On another table, there is fancy ramen spoons filled with microgreens, crystal jelly vinegarette, and a thin slice of parmesan cheese. Some further looking may find some fine aged wine, but you're not here to drink and party, you're here to fight a Kaiju! Right? Right.

Despite the fact everything about these yachts just look like... fancy yachts... they are actual warships that are mounted with naval artillery such as swivel guns, missiles and torpedos. Spears, harpoon guns and fishing nets can also be found and used if an Outsider is more comfortable getting extremely close to the monsters. There's no time for a proper seafaring course, so Outsiders will be given a quick run down on how the controls work, and be sent on their way. They will also be given a special jewel-like implant that attaches to the skin, right along the forehead, and told to wear it if they need to go into the water. "Don't worry about it," the LILITH crew says. "But it'll be one hell of a ride if you use it."

Alongside the crew, Seok Dang seems to be also assisting (?) though he's gotten a hold of the reception food down below. Did he smell like fine wine? Possibly. But that's definitely a fancy, half eaten cracker in his hand. He's also got on a bright, neon life preserver. Maybe someone doesn't know how to swim.

"WHOOO HELLA YEAH, MOTHERFUCKERS. Don't know how to swim? Don't'cha worry. Daddy Dang has got you covered. I know CPR! I give the best CPR! 💖 I'll rescue ya. TONIGHT, WE BALL!"

Nobody uses that phrase anymore, but you know what? You do you, SD.

▶ 002. WHALE WATCHING.

Minutes into their ship's course, the boats will rock violently, as if those already violent waves have somehow come alive. There is something in the water! The mission brief would have been shared with them sometime during their trip, but maybe Outsiders want to pull up on their implant the image and debrief shared once again now that there is some action. The orca-like Kaiju trying to reach the shores of Neo Tokyo is called Shachimon, and she's been the cause of the violent waves and flooding we've seen for the past few weeks. Alongside of her and are her children orca who love to mimic everything their mother does. The biggest one, the matriarch of the pod, is over 60 meters in length - large enough to swallow a boat whole. The younger ones are smaller but just as ferocious, spanning from the size of a car to the size of a bus. The youngsters are a size small enough that they can leap out of the water, sometimes crashing down onto people and ships. Beware!

Shachimon will be fighting to knock over boats, or climbing on boats with their amphibious legs. Once they get their hands on humans or Outsiders, they pull them into the water, tearing them limb from limb to feed. Their control over the waves are no joke, either. With a powerful swing of their tail, they can conjure up tsunamis capable of overturning ships. The matriarch, if left to her own devices, seems bent on submerging Neo Tokyo to make food of all its citizens.

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: Shachimon
HEIGHT: Younger whales are 4 - 18 metres. The matriarch is 60 meters in length.
WEIGHT: 1500kg - 5000kg
CLASS: Highly dangerous.
LOCATION: Large bodies of water
ABILITIES: Use of sonar to detect any water movement. Fast swimmer. Very sturdy body thanks to all that whale blubber. High intelligence - commonly works together as a pod to take down prey. Capable of creating tsunamis that overturn boats. The largest Shachimon can sink a city if not stopped.
WEAKNESS: Electricity (since it will be inside water), dissection, spearing its eyes or blowhole. Loud vibrations within the water can stun or confuse it.
EXTRA NOTES: Dislikes and will attempt to overturn civilian yachts. Carnivorous, eating marine life and human flesh. Sadistic personality, may play with their food prior to eating.

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Lead the Shachimon away from the shore.
✖ Extermination of Shachimon in the water and if they reach the shore.
✖ Protection of nearby fishermen's boats and civilians within those boats.
✖ Teamwork to destroy the matriach Shachimon.
✖ Bring back specimens (live or deceased) for research purposes.

As a note, Outsiders who wish to remain on land and help civilians there may do so. There are waves flooding the city, and some of the smaller, quicker Shachimon will have made it to shore. They will need to be taken care of before they can terrorise the city.

▶ 003. OCEAN GEMS.

Shachimon are most deadly in the water and their go-to strategy is to pull others into their turf, where they have the advantage. That's where those jewel-like implants come in. These implants, called OCEAN GEMS, when attached to the skin, temporarily modify the body. Once activated, nanobots will invade the bloodstream and alter the user's lungs, giving them a set of breathable gills. Their legs will also be altered, giving them fins and the tail of a fish. This is a recent invention by LILITH ever since the first Shachimon was spotted a few years ago, and the technology is still experimental. This means that the transformation process will be significantly uncomfortable, feeling a bit like being asphyxiated and having your legs sewn together at the same time. Deactivating the gem and turning back feels just as uncomfortable, and being experimental technology, it can take a while before the user can successfully revert back. Those who want to fight in the water and lack any weapons or abilities that can be used can request Seok Dang for a weapon. There's a limited supply, but they will be given a special trident. Directly driving the spear into one of the kaiju will electrocute it, giving a higher chance for higher damage. These tridents will be handed out to those who want to use their Ocean Gem and ask.

It's up to Outsiders whether they want to use this new technology or not. Being able to fight the monsters on their own terrain is certainly an advantage, so LILITH would highly encourage it.

▶ 004. MEDICAL BAY.

Healers and those with medical experience will be placed on the warship with a red flag on it. Dr. Spim & Alex will also be present on this ship to assist any major injuries to both LILITH and civilian fisherman alike. This ship is bigger than the others, and while stocked up with the same artillery, it is also stocked with beds and medical supplies. This will be the Outsider's naval medical bay during the siege on the Shachimon and all injured Outsiders or civilians will need to be transported there. This ship will also need to be protected heavily, because once the Shachimon catch on that all the injured, vulnerable prey are being transported to the larger ship, they will start to target that ship in particular. Characters that need immediate medical help should be transported to this ship via a dataportal. Each yacht has a dataportal that can teleport anyone instantly to the medical ship. The dataportals are also located down below deck to prevent them from getting damaged.

▶ 005. THE CALM AFTER THE STORM.

It's a bloody, soggy and gruesome battle and the seas' waves begin to calm down, the sea filled with kaiju carcasses. LILITH's clean up crew is working hastily to collect these corpses, but with the Outsiders' occupied and recovering from their fresh battle, help is limited. Search and rescue scavenges the sea to find any civilians who didn't make it or may need medical help. Meanwhile, the valiant teamwork and effort has paid off. After many hits from many different weapons, artillery, natural abilities, etc. the matriarch kaiju has been downed and sank to the bottom of the ocean floor. LILITH's team will work to retrieve the massive carcass, though it will take awhile. Those who put in notable effort will receive praise and a little extra payout. Outsiders will see an instant transfer of funds to their account: 340,000,000 KRYPTOS. This is roughly about 2500 USD.

The intense battle will have lasted several days and Outsiders are free to go from land to sea as little or as often as they like. It is all over, though, and Outsiders will be called to return to the MAIN BASE for rest and recovery. LILITH will also be searching for the rift where the kaiju came from while Outsiders recover. A message from an unknown voice will pop up an hour or so after all Outsiders have returned to the MAIN BASE. Outsiders may use this time to socialize in a commons area, wash up in the showers, get a meal in the cafeteria or rest.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our first Kaiju log! All prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, characters can choose to fight in the ocean, on the ships or stay behind on land and protect the city. At the end of the siege, characters who accepted an Ocean Gem will be asked to return it. It's experimental technology, so LILITH will need to do more tweaking before they can properly release it. Outsiders who use the gem may have whatever fish tail they like, as long as it is a sea creature.

Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the Shachimon matriarch will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).

Below is also the month at a glance. We understand the CALENDAR has been a little inconsistent, but the mod team is sorting all of this out. Expect a FEEDBACK POST this month as well so we can check in with the playerbase and make any adjustments to the game. This log, even if the time stamp says JANUARY, will count for FEBRUARY AC.

Raidou Kuzunoha XIV | Devil Summoner

▶001. SEAS THE DAY

[Any doubts or reservations Raidou might have been showing in the last few weeks seem completely gone when the kaiju arrive. He leaps into action without hesitation.

However, he does arrive a little late. After hearing that there might still be civilians in the buildings above ground, he heads into the city to help evacuate them underground, despite the constant admonishments from LILITH popping up in his field of vision telling him to return to the scene of the devastation.

Eventually he heads to the bay, but waiting for the next round of yachts is not an option at the moment. One of the smaller monsters has slipped past the boats, and has gotten close to the shore. His katana won't do against creatures this size, with skin this thick, so he picks up one of the spears. He's not familiar with it as a weapon, but he's well-trained and strong, he'll figure it out.

If you're caught fighting the 8-meter long baby that made its way to the docks, you'll suddenly find yourself being protected by the spear-wielding teen. He parries the incoming attack from the monster, and holds it off with his new weapon. This will give someone ample opportunity to strike another way. Raidou's face is deadly serious, his voice calm.]

I'll hold it back. Go!

▶002. OCEAN GEMS

[It's not that Raidou is exactly eager to be an experiment for LILITH. He just went through one of their surgeries earlier this week, and isn't too happy to be repeating the process so soon. He'll do anything to help, though, and reluctantly takes them up on the offer of breathe underwater. The process is incredibly unpleasant, and the result makes Raidou wonder if he's become one of the demons he's used to commanding. At least he makes for a pretty merman, for whatever that's worth, with the flowing fins of a black and blue betta fish.

Now he gets yet another new weapon, and his build and speed is tailor made for this new form. He's fast underwater, but these creatures are still huge. After coming at one from the back with a stab of the electrified spear, he gets walloped with the tail and sent sailing back into someone else nearby. Head's up, incoming fish boy your way, 10 o'clock!]

▶003. MED SHIP

[When the battles have finally being to wind down, Raidou can be found in the med ship. He has a few bruises and abrasions himself, but nothing too severe. That's not why he's here anyway. For anyone who enters the room to look for assistance that isn't totally unconscious or in lethal danger, Raidou will shyly but politely try to get your attention. He's glad to have his healing factor to help others, but it doesn't make it any less awkward for him. As if holding someone's hand was a big deal.]

Excuse me. Have a seat. I can help, if you want.

[ Yuji is limping as he makes his way into the med bay, his leg clearly damaged from what can only be described as a rather savage bite mark. He might not have been too badly bullied by the matriarch herself, but one of her children had taken a good go at tearing his leg off - or, rather, had attempted to go for Bakugo and Yuji had literally leapt in the way.

He still feels a little bit like his head is tangled up, thanks to the sonar ringing in his ears, but when he spots Raidou he waves his hand and puts on a grin, some of his tension fading away. He might trust the cat doctor and Alex, since they did his surgery, he doesn't want to bother them when there are people worse off than him.

This is just pain. He can deal with that. ]

Hey, Johei. Think you can handle this?

[the_fourteenth]

O-Oh, yes, of course.

[That looks awful. Raidou looks immediately concerned. He himself has some bruises and a bandage on his left arm, after taking a bite from a smaller shachimon and getting tossed by the large one. But as they both know, the healing factor works much better on others than yourself. His wound is much better than it was a few hours ago.

However, that brings up a point to Raidou as he has Yuji sit down, offering a hand. Offering both, actually, after a moment of hesitation. Let's get that leg helped up fast.]

Hopefully won't won't waste any energy trying to heal me up in return. Um. Try to concentrate on yourself, okay?

[Does it work that way? He has no idea, but it sounds good.]

[ Yuji, at least, doesn't seem even a little bit concerned about the leg wound, hobbling over and sitting himself down beside his friend.

When you've been in fights that have ripped off body parts, pierced your liver, damaged your feet and hands and spine... Either you adjust quickly or you get used to it. Unfortunately, Yuji Itadori has done both, which might be a longer term problem than he cares to deal with. ]

I'll do my best, but I'm already pretty tired. I don't think we need to worry about it.

[ He might fall asleep right here if he starts using his own healing rather than letting Raidou focus on it. ]

[the_fourteenth]

I'm sure you are. [It dawns on Raidou that this must be what Narumi felt like, every time Raidou dragged his bleeding and bedraggled self back to the office after a mission. Narumi patching Raidou up despite his protests, complaining about the medical bills as a cover for his worry for the kid.

He's not sure what to do here, hand in hand. Even if he was good at small talk, this didn't seem like the time.]

How did things seem out there?

[He's been inside helping for a few hours now. He's getting pretty tired himself, but he's good at not showing it.]

It was kind of like what you'd expect?

[ Yuji flops down a little closer to Raidou, leaning into him with a huff. When he's done his own healing for other people, it's just been like this - casually touching one another and enjoying the quiet comfort of being near someone. It helps, especially after an intense fight like this... Maybe that was kind of the point.

They're all about team building and letting people get close. It seems to be the point of a lot of the stuff they do.

Lifting his head, he tries not to yawn. ]

It looks like it's calming down now.

[the_fourteenth]

[It's still a feeling that's so foreign to Raidou, but every day here it gets a little easier for him. Especially now that he has this healing factor, he has no choice but to do so. It is nice though, after how tough things can get for them all here. It makes you feel a little less alone - another foreign feeling for him.]

Good. I came in here a few hours ago to help, since it looked like there were a lot of people waiting. Seems to be waning, finally.

[After a beat, he adds:] Everyone did a great job out there.

[eyescar]

I was going to head in earlier, but the little ones just kept coming.

[ It was intense, and if he hadn't been so determined to make sure that everyone was taken care of he might have been able to get here a little bit sooner, but... It doesn't matter, he's here now and getting healed, so that's what matters.

Tilting his head, he beams. ]

It's been a good first mission, hasn't it? All things considered.

[the_fourteenth]

It sure seemed like it. A wonder they could all hide out there for so long.

[The ocean is an intimidating place.

Raidou nods, smiling warmly. It's early, but there are signs things went as well as they probably could have.]

Looks like we can all work together after all. And people seemed to have been evacuated in time. We're very lucky.

[ seeing another body hurled his way isn't exactly surprising in the grand scale of all this chaos. even now, he hasn't committed to using the ocean gem just yet and so he seems perfectly content traversing over the carcasses of the defeat shachimon and the remnants of some yachts that have been served their purpose as bait. on the bright side, they did make decent footholds for traversing. hence, he's been hanging out where he can, busying himself in trying to create a perfect circle for which to draw the shachimon in. he even using one of the younger carcasses as "bait," letting its blood soak into the area around him.

it's when he thinks a perfect trap is set for any of its potential siblings to come filtering his way, he sees the flash of something black being flung his way.

he's about to dodge it, but then— is that a person?

he holds his arms out, as if to catch them and lighten the impact. they're flung back slightly, but his feet plant side ways against some wreckage. ] Got you. [ he doesn't offer any words of checking if they're okay. if anything, they seemed fine and he's going by that unless they say otherwise.

but, he should probably change positions before this little piece of ship sinks. ]

[Not just a person, but a fish person. Raidou got flung further than he expected, and is honestly the most glad for the fact that he managed to hang on to his spear, held close to his body.

He looks alright, though that hit is going to leave a hell of a bruise, and it's knocked the wind out of him. Combined with the fact that he was gills to worry about at the moment on top of that, it takes him a moment to stop coughing and catch his breath.

He looks at Yuwon a little surprised. Did someone really catch him?]

Ah... thank you...

[yuwon]

[ oh,

he has to wonder how all this technology really works. he notices the gills and his eyes seem to assess him silently for a few seconds. so these are the full abilities these items had. but, he doesn't dwell on it for long as he shifts his weight slightly.

at the thanks, he doesn't seem to respond at first, before shaking head head. as if telling him not to worry about it. ] It's just a coincidence. [ but that said, he looks at the water, before looking back at raidou. ] Do you need to go back in? Or do you mind coming with me to that yacht over there?

[the_fourteenth]

[Raidou wasn't exactly thrilled about taking the gem, but he's not famous for his good decisions. Whatever he can do to help he'll do, and this seemed like his best bet in this fight.

He looks out into the water to make sure that whatever slapped him this far didn't decide to follow immediately. Not yet. He's also feeling very lucky to not only be caught, be having been able to hold on to his trident through that. He gives Yuwon a nod.]

No, I'm okay. [He thinks.] I can, sure.

[yuwon]

[ while it's difficult to discern from his features alone, his shoulders seem to become slightly more relaxed when he realizes the man in his arms wasn't about to suffocate from being removed from the water. relief aside, he also isn't sure how he'd feel about having to be responsible for another person's life like that. ]

I sense there are more of them down by the yacht, so be ready just in case. [ or maybe he's running on assumptions here. it's difficult to see, but he does seem to staring in that general direction, and speaking as if he had some conviction.

with that, he tilts his head. ] Should I throw you over my shoulder for now? [ is that easier...

he guesses he could sky walk over there, but he didn't exactly want to use all his mana right out of the flood gates. ]

[the_fourteenth]

[Raidou looks a little embarrassed at the suggestion, face reddening slightly. As if being in this form and getting knocked out of the water like a tennis ball wasn't embarrassing enough.]

No, I-- I'm fast in the water like this. I can head over and meet you there.

[He looks that way as well.]

The one that hit me might not be far off, either.

[yuwon]

[ maybe it was because he seemed pretty composed despite being hit straight out of the water that the reaction kind of surprises him. not to state he didn't have a reaction at all, but he presumed everyone called forth by LILITH seemed to be no stranger to combat and it showed.

so, it's a little funny to see that his words got such a reaction. albeit, judging by yuwon's expression, it isn't so easy to tell he even acknowledges it, beyond seeming a bit puzzled. ] Okay. [ but, he presumed having someone in the water would work well enough. it'd cover both bases, at least. ]

I'll watch from above then. [ with that, he moves forth in that general direction, following what he believes to be traces of kaiju activity.

... and just like that he sees something circle beneath the surface. ]

[Typical Raidou, more embarrassed about needing to be rescued than actually getting hit. All the adrenaline helps with the latter. He gives Yuwon a nod.

Once his head clears enough in another few moments, he'll get back to the water. If the transformation he had to go through to get into this form was any indication, he wouldn't be in much shape to fight immediately if he reverted back. He really isn't looking forward to that again. For now, he's stuck as a merman, so he'll use it to his advantage. Raidou holds his weapon close and dives back in.

The shachimon was able to sniff him out again, it seems. Raidou stays near the surface, trying to lure it his way. He's not sure how Yuwon can help from above, but that's fine. Most Outsiders has incredible abilities he couldn't even predict.

Head above the water, he holds his spear forward as it makes a bee line right at him, mouth open.]

[Ren has fought alongside friends more often than he's fought alone and he falls in easily with the flow of Raidou's movements, backing up and using his grappling gun to stagger their positions, making it more difficult for the kaiju to track them both.

He lands atop a lamppost and yanks the mask off his face, calling for "Arsène!" and the Persona shimmers behind him. It takes even less time for Arsène to unleash one-shot kill, a piercing attack like a massive bullet. It staggers and stuns the kaiju in front of Raidou, blood pouring from the wound.]

All yours!

[Teamwork was still new to Raidou, but he'd been trying his best in the sims. He's not so proud as that he wants to fight alone, but summoner work mean it was just your and your demons to help. As far as he is concerned, he's still a shield for others. It's just for Neo-Tokyo and his Outsider teammates now instead.

Once the kaiju is down, Raidou rushes forward, spear out ahead of him. LILITH says the eyes are the weak point, and that's where he aims. even with the unfamiliar, heavier weapon, his aim is still great, and he drives the spear in. That's the end of that orca. Once he can confirm that, Raidou yanks the spear back out with surprising strength, taking a moment to catch his breath, and give Ren an approving nod.]

[Ren responds with a thumbs up, before he drops to the ground in one slinking motion that doesn't quite align with physics.]

Nice aim.

[It's almost a little jaunty, brazen when there isn't another threat to immediately swoop in. Though Ren isn't so incautious to ignore their surroundings; his eyes casually sweep along the shore, lingering where a kaiju could potentially ambush them.]

They're faster than they look on land.

[the_fourteenth]

[The adrenaline and the thrill of combat has Raidou feeling much more like himself, which he'd be hesitant to admit. It's true, though. He feels useful again.]

And there are so many. How can that even be?

[Seriously, how does one monster matriarch have so many offspring?

Raidou also keeps an eye on the water, but turns to Ren for a moment.]

How are you? I can heal you if you need it.

[Ren only shakes his head in response to Raidou's ponderings on the shachimon matriarch; the bay really is teaming with them.

But his eyebrows arch in response to the healing offer and his head tilts, curious.]

I'm alright for now, but I didn't know you had healing abilities.

[Though he supposes he never asked outright...]

Ah... I got the healing factor upgrade last week.

[He looks a little embarrassed about this. He felt the need to do more to help, since he doesn't have powers like so many others have. This way, he can be even more useful.]

So, if you need it, don't hesitate to say something.

[This is super rich coming from Ren, also an Everlight and also reckless, but he's still connecting the dots.]

Miss holding my hand that badly?

[I'm sorry he's like this.]

Oh. I suppose we are...?

[They absolutely are. It's no surprise the two are best friends already.

Who has time to get flustered when there are kaiju to fight? This kid, apparently, since his face turns red.]

I-I didn't have much choice in how it operates, I'm afraid.

[Because he wishes it worked literally any other way.]
