For those Outsiders on the younger side, Raidou has sent out a blanket text message to one and all inviting them to a hanami picnic at a park near the base. Everyone is encouraged to bring whatever snacks and entertainment they like, but it's not a requirement. Yukata are also encouraged but not required. This isn't anything formal, just a chance for everyone to hang out, for the newbie kids to get acquainted with their fellow Outsiders, and to get a little comeuppance on the adults who got to go out on a bar crawl without them all. The only rule is that adults will be turned away from sitting with them! Sorry, folks.

Raidou Kuzunoha is not exactly a person known for his social aptitude or party planning skills, and it's a miracle he's even come up with this idea, so it's definitely a good idea for people to bring want: food, drinks, games. Someone needs to sneak in the sake, because this straight-laced kid will not be. Not to fear if you come empty-handed though, as there are plenty of snack stalls nearby. Most of his efforts have gone into finding and securing the perfect spot for them to hang.

This log is for mingling top level comments for any kind of hanging out and activities. Whether you want your characters affected by the sakura hay fever is up to you. Have fun!

[ Parties are certainly not her in any way. But Lucy isn't going to turn up her nose immediately. No, instead she plans. Plans and cooks and, when she can't cook anymore, she buys. It's just a one-time thing, right? And besides, Kiritsugu went to the trouble of getting her this nice yukata and everything, so why not use it?

The spread she brings is quite the sight. Her picnic blanket is covered with the many tiers of a fancy lunchbox, five in total. Two are packed full with onigiri and sandwiches, one with two rows of skewered odango, one with pink daifuku, and the final one is just...well, a wide arrangement of sushi but especially big futomaki rolls. There's also a plate with homemade cookies shaped like cherry-blossoms, and bottles of alcohol-free sake.

Both Lucy and Nyuu can respond for this! Nyuu will be much more responsive and eager to have people eat with her. Lucy...well she won't stop you if you sit down but she's been silently sipping away at a suspicious bottle of sake she's been keeping for herself. ]

[Izuku doesn't hesitate to take the free seat next to Lucy, instantly seeking out a familiar and friendly face. And...okay maybe her towering lunchbox holds a bit of appeal as well, especially once she begins opening it up to display what's inside.]

Wow, you really made a lot. It looks delicious.

[ Instinctively she tenses a bit as Izuku draws near to sit. She eases up again when she realizes who it is, but she doesn't meet his gaze. Mostly to hide the pink stain creeping up on her cheeks. ]

I only made some of it. [ She vaguely gestures to the onigiri, sandwiches, and the plate of cookies. ] The rest is from the store.

[ She clears her throat. ]

Go for whatever you want.

[Her blush goes unnoticed, as his eyes stay firmly planted on the food as she points out the items she made herself.

He doesn't waste any time grabbing up one of the onigiri and taking a hearty bite. Flecks of the sticky rice stick to his lips as he chews.]

Hmm...this is delicious! [He takes another smaller bite before speaking again.]

Do you enjoy cooking, Kaede-chan?

[ Whatever answer she meant to say, she stalls as her mind stamps on the brakes. There aren't many who've called her "Kaede-chan" before. Especially not with that amiably.

Maybe... Is he trying to kill her...? Get her so flustered her head or heart explode?

...no, that's silly. ]

It can be fun, yeah.

What is your favorite thing to cook?

I don't have a favorite yet, but I think... [ A lot of her dishes have had rice as a side or a main ingredient, now that she thinks about it. Doesn't hurt that it's the easiest to prepare out of everything. ]

Dishes with rice are the easiest to make, so I guess those? Since it's so versatile. You can throw in whatever you want and it'll taste good.

Rice is very easy to make. It's probably the only thing I can cook reliably on my own. My mom is a good cook and I would help her out a little in the kitchen, but nothing really stuck.

[He's moved on to taste testing the cookies.]

You can bake as well? These are really good.

It was my first time baking sweets like this. Their shape is still a little weird, but...as long as they taste good, that's the most important thing.

[ Something something, she used a bit too much baking soda. She doesn't remember the specifics. ]

Don't be hard on yourself. I've heard that baking is really hard. Harder than cooking even. The fact that you made these on your first try is amazing. I'm sure the next batch will be even better.

[Don't think he's only being nice seeing as he's cramming cookie after cookie into his mouth.]

[ She watches him for a moment before scoffing out a tiny laugh. ]

I'll have to make a new batch soon, seems like. [ What with him gobbling them down like that. ]

Perhaps a bigger one since the test batch turned out so well.

[ Yuji is dressed in his own simple yukata, definitely enjoying the chance to see the flowers and have a bit of a break from the intensity of the missions and White Day all mixed up together. He's come with an armful of onigiri, all with pink and red ingredients decorated them, and he places the small container of them on a side table before he turns to greet Lucy.

He recognises her from their brief conversations before, so he lifts a hand to wave happily. ]

Hey! Do you want one of these? I promise they're not too bad.

[ Oh, that's Itadori. She remembers him from other times they've spoken, but now...well, she won't tease him about seeing him and Raidou together. Not yet anyway. ]

Oh...mm. Sure. [ Between her own lunch and what others are bringing, they're going to be stuffed with so much rice. Well, it's not a bad thing. ] Did you make these?

[ Yet...

Yuji holds the container out for her, his smile unfaltering despite her lacklustre reaction. He's clearly used to it. ]

I did! They're good, I tried one myself. I tried to keep them on theme, too...

[ Pink... ]

[ His time will come. That's how he'll know he's made it past level one. ]

Oh...that's good. [ She was already reaching for one, but there's just that much more urgency to her movement now as she plucks one out of the box. She doesn't notice the faint tug at her mouth that looks like a smile. ] Homemade tastes better.

Putting the container down, he rocks on his feet a little. ] If you hate it, I'll do better next time.

[ This guy...she wants to tell him to hush, but that'll probably have more effect if she actually tries the food first. Thus, she takes a bite out of the onigiri to test it.

She's pleased to find it tastes no different than what she'd expect. Nice seasoning with both salt and the seaweed wrapping, the rice isn't too hard or cold like it might be if it was store-bought, and the filling isn't too strong. The one she picked is umeboshi; always a fine choice with its sour tang a nice contrast to the sweeter rice.

She swallows and chuckles once. ]

You really need to chill. It tastes fine.

[ Yuji does need to chill: that's 100% his problem.

At least she's laughing a little, so he'll take it! Beaming, he leans back and nods his head, looking thrilled with himself. He did it! He made a good riceball (like it's hard, Yuji, please). ]

I'm glad! I'll make sure to share them out, then.

[ He huffs a sigh, relaxing. ]

Did you want to go and see the flowers?

[ His good mood is infectious. She'll give him that. Even she can't stay completely sour-faced around someone like this. It's why she actually gives some consideration to taking a walk to see the flowers more like he suggests. Once she's finished her snack. ]

Can't hurt I guess. There's enough people around to mind the spot in case anyone gets any funny ideas.

[ Yuji is bright and happy at the agreement and he looks around, trying to find a quieter area. She seems like the kind of person who would appreciate that... ]

It seems pretty relaxed over there. We could start with that one?

[ A quiet walk with a guy, under the cherry blossoms. If anyone told her about this kind of thing even a few months prior, she wouldn't have believed it. She supposes it's even funnier now since he's the not!boyfriend of a friend of hers.

Friend...huh. Even a few months ago, that would be a weird thing to say. ]

Here. [ She hands Yuji one of the sakura cookies she made once she's up on her feet. ] Can't hurt to eat one while we walk.

[ Yuji does not think for even a moment about the possible romantic implications here; he's too busy getting ready to start walking, enjoying the fact that he can spend a little free time with someone without any pressures. It's nice, isn't it?

Relaxing. Comfortable. He's having fun, the kind that Gojo-sensei was always bugging them to have.

Taking the cookie, he beams at her without hesitation. ]

Woah, thanks! Yeah, let's go. [ He takes a bite and hums his approval, eyes wide, giving her a thumbs up as they walk. ]

[ Lucy falls along in-step with him with a small laugh. She keeps her hands folded in her sleeves as they go and goes quiet as she takes in the petals flying by on the breeze. ]

It's so pretty here. Not what I'd expect for a city.

[ Yuji chews and swallows before he speaks, nodding his head. ]

For how modern it is, I expected less nature, you know? But it's nice! I think it's relaxing.

I wonder if there'll be those big, puffy flowers around more in the spring. The pink, blue, and purple ones...

[ Why can't she think of the name right now? Ugh... ]

Ah, hydrangeas. Those were everywhere in Kamakura.
