TRAVEL LOG #1
TRAVEL LOG #1
ⶠ001. A RUDE AWAKENING.
On the morning of the 15th, the Outsiders will hear an alarm sound in the early hours. No matter what youâre doing, the alarm will not stop sounding, and itâs because theyâre playing directly into your oculars. If one is sleeping, they may even be roused by the spark of colors on their oculars dictating an emergency. After a few minutes of this, the following message will appear:
PLEASE REPORT TO THE DATAPORTAL AT THE TOKYO BRANCH AND BE PREPARED FOR DEPARTURE.

Following the success of the dataportal testing, the engineering department was able to fine tune its abilities and widen the reach of the portals. The portals can connect even abroad now!
Despite their best efforts, however, they cannot guarantee that the same symptoms wonât appear, and ask all Outsiders who are utilizing them to practice caution. Additionally, through all their testing, they found that people who hold hands or make contact with others as they pass through will be hit with less issues.
PLEASE REPORT TO THE DATAPORTAL AT THE TOKYO BRANCH AND BE PREPARED FOR DEPARTURE.
"Captain Yamakawa speaking. Youâve done a great job in testing the data portals. Now that we are able to travel, we were sent a call for help in another city due to lack of personnel and resources abroad. You will be looking for evidence of a new kaiju around the rendezvous point. It may be a difficult journey, so prepare yourself. SYNTHIA will still be online to help you make it to the city. Report to the POD CHAMBER where we have installed an international dataportal and prepare for transportation."

ⶠ002. WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS.
When one passes through the data portal, they will see the refuge city of Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Similar to Neo Tokyo, it is also rich in life and known as the city that never sleeps. Incidentally, it is also famously noted as a place of endless vice. The city is built up around a strip of land of roughly 4.2 miles. A vast majority of the city was built up over the wreckage of the old, and some fixtures were simply made new with whatever was left preexisting. The Mojave Desert has expanded towards surrounding cities, though it will take a vehicle to get there in a timely manner.
The city has no shortage of hotels and with each hotel, a casino. While Outsiders here are on a mission, thereâs no stating they couldnât participate in the fun of Vegas while LILITH crew begin their investigation. While some hotels will be clearly abandoned or less traversed, there is no end to all card tables and slot machines, all asking for your KRYPTOS.
The hotel the Outsiders are slotted to stay over the course of the next few days is one where they built directly over the hotels of the old. While it offers a decent place to sleep, itâs not without a refurbished pirate themed bed, or the columns of what appears to have been from Caesars Palace. Is that a giant clown face staring at you in the room? Donât worry about it. The hotel offers that this is the best place to depart into the desert from. For this mission, Outsiders may bunk up with whoever they would like, and each hotel provides two queen sized beds.
Excited to venture out into the city? Even under the threat of kaiju, the city doesnât sleep. Outsiders may venture through the Las Vegas Strip and treat themselves to a fun night of drinking, gambling, shopping, partying and circle-style performances. The Grand Canal Shoppes, a Venetian-inspired high end mall, boasts a man-made canal with gondola rides for a fee, along with many retail outlets and restaurants. There are also numerous spas and carnival-style rides to enjoy. Las Vegas was once known as the âMarriage Capital of the Worldâ, and in a world besieged by kaiju, the people donât seem to think they have anything to lose. Outsiders may spot a few bride and grooms-to-be partying in the street.
(LILITH does not have a stance on whether or not Outsiders are permitted to get hitched as long as it does not affect their performance. )

ⶠ003. TROUBLE BREWING.
Itâs normal for fights to break out with so much alcohol being passed around, but something ⊠isnât quite right with some of the locals here. Outsiders who keep an eye open might notice people acting erratically, and not just from being intoxicated. There are people ready to pick a fight from just being looked at, people falling into despondent sadness and lethargy, people wandering mindlessly and people becoming distressed from seeing things that arenât there. Ask the locals and they will tell you these cases seem to be popping up more often the past week.
The most concerning of all are the stories of people disappearing completely. One little girl will tell you she cried as she saw her mother mindlessly walk into the desert, as if called by a voice no one else can hear. There are many other accounts of this happening. In fact, all the people acting erratically seem to disappear within a few days âŠ
Outsiders may interact with civilians who are acting erratic and aggressive, but asking questions they may receive answers that do not make sense, are perverse and inappropriate or may trigger aggression. Any Outsider to gets into a fight and is severely injured may report to a local hospital here and will find they are pretty packed with other civilians acting strange, hurting each other and themselves. Certainly, this was the main cause for concern that got LILITH's attention anyway.

ⶠ004. FOUR FOR THE ROAD.
Within a day or two, the Outsiders will once again be called to action by a blaring notice in their implant.
YOUR VEHICLES ARE PREPARED. ASSEMBLE OUTSIDE THE CITY IMMEDIATELY.
When they gather at the location provided to them, they will find a fleet of armored campervans waiting for them. Each campervan comes equipped with beds, a kitchenette, and bathroom facilities, and will fit about 4 people. Within the campervans, they will find desert-appropriate attire designed to protect them from the scorching sun. These campervans also come with some basic artillery such as a mounted machine gun. There are also supplies in the form of water bottles and MRE ration packs.
Those who have driven large vehicles in the past are encouraged to take the driverâs seat. If the group does not have any driving experience, they will be given a crash course on driving recorded by the man himself, Seok Dang. (He probably shouldnât be doing this with the stunts heâs pulled, but the Commander does not have any time to be teaching anyone driving, and Seok Dang volunteered so eagerlyâŠ)

If it eases anyoneâs worries, the campervans are armored and highly shock resistant, so they should withstand a crash or two.
(Those who finish his course and successfully drive 100km while supervised will receive an international driving license.)

ⶠ005. THE HUNT IS ON.
With everyone settled into their campervan, the large scale road trip begins. LILITH has a general idea of where the biggest energy signal is located for the rift and they will feed the coordinates to the Outsiders. The journey will take about a few days into (and around as LILITH is searching for both people & the source of the rift energy) the Mojave Desert, and Outsiders will be permitted occasional rest stops to give drivers a break and to investigate the terrain. The terrain itself is a harsh desert, with cacti and small local fauna abundant. (Those not wanting to eat ration packs can take this time to hunt the local fauna such as birds, lizards and desert foxes.) While there is nothing else around, observant Outsiders may notice signs of human life - footprints in the sand, a shoe or torn piece of clothing being left behind, and even the odd human carcass being torn apart by vultures.
The logical conclusion would be that those missing humans have been here, and the only thing left to do is find them ⊠but Outsiders and civilians aren't all that lurk here, and time will tell what lies beneath the desert surface ...

ⶠ005. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our very first travel log! Each campervan will accommodate anywhere between 3-5 people, with 4 being the ideal and 5 being a squeeze. Players are encouraged to connect with each other to fill up a van but the mods will not be enforcing it. If you need help finding roommates, there is a FIND A ROOMMATE header below that you can make use of.
If you'd like to test your gambling luck, we also have an IC SLOTS HEADER for you to comment to for you to see how well your character does at the slot machines. This is entirely for fun, and of course you are always welcome to have your characters winning or losing at the slot machines as much as you want in your prompts so long as they aren't winning jackpots.
Following this log, all characters who have purchased style upgrades will receive an update to their chip enabling them access to desert attire and popular styles within Las Vegas.
All tags on this log are worth 2 points.

They're all about teamwork and working together. This is probably one of those things, like making us give out Valentine's Day chocolate.
[ Yuji is doing his best to be polite, to be sensible about this, to make sure he doesn't get into trouble. Gojo-sensei will probably be mad if they fight, and Choso will definitely come to his defence, so... He scowls, glancing between the portal and Geto for a moment before he offers his hand, weird and twisted and all clawed as it happens to be. ]
I'll take you through.
no subject
The same rampant exhaustion that had driven him from the school, maybe. It's almost like sympathy, if he knew what that was anymore. )
Why?
( Cautious, body still. )
How do I know it's not a trick, mm? I'm sure your sensei warned you away from me.
no subject
Shaking his head, he frowns, almost a petulant, teenage pout. ]
I'm not smart enough to trick someone like that.
[ He would say he's 'not that kind of person', but... ]
Or you can ask Gojo-sensei or someone else.
no subject
No.
( It's bad enough living next door to each other and leaving the fucker on read. Geto shifts slightly, eyes drawn back to the portal. )
Nauseous? Or will I start bleeding from my orifices?
no subject
If you go alone? Probably just nauseated. People who used the teleporters before felt sick, light-headed and threw up a bunch.
[ Which is why Yuji hadn't gone to Kyoto, before. ]
Or you could just hold my hand for two minutes.
no subject
Is it cowardice or stubborn-mindedness?
He already knows he has to rely on monkeys here. Isn't this a good start? With the world's most frustrated exhale of breath, Geto unwinds his arms from where they've been crossed and holds out a single hand to Yuji. ) No funny business.
no subject
[ Like he's gonna what, grab him and throw him around like Mahito did to him?
Almost rolling his eyes, a little sour and annoyed, Yuji grabs at Geto's hand and starts to tug him towards the portal. That's probably another giveaway of just how strong that he actually is: he tugs, and it might be enough to almost pull Geto off his legs if he's not making sure that he holds himself up.
Looking back over at the portal, he huffs. ]
Let's go through quickly.
no subject
The portal still gives him pause, a momentary wariness. He eyes it carefully, fingers on his free hand flexing.
But he isn't a coward, and so he nods, steps into it at the same time as Yuji. It's ... strange. He sways on the spot once he's gone through, as though his body isn't entirely sure what's happened. The change in scenery takes him a minute too, vision spotting when he screws up his eyes too tight. It's a little disorientating. Maybe it's enough to make him nauseous on that merit alone. But they made it, and Geto's quiet curse is only a mild swear so. Don't come after him, adults. )
Do they make us do that often?
( Because he does not like it. And how he's extracting himself from Yuji's grip, putting a good space between the two. A pause, distracted. ) Thank you.
( GENOCIDAL CULT LEADER HE MAY BE-. )
no subject
He probably deserves it, though.
They slip through the portal and, thankfully, it doesn't mess around with any of Yuji's upgrades, which is a sweet relief. He huffs out a sharp noise, reaching to rub at his forehead briefly to push away the threat of an oncoming headache. If it's this bad weeks after his surgery, how bad would it have been if he had tried to go to Kyoto...? Damn.
His hand pulls away from Geto and Yuji groans, shaking his head. ]
This is the first time we've been teleported anywhere. It's new.
[ Glancing back up, he gives Geto a look before a just-there smile appears. ]
You're welcome. If it's the same coming back, I'll help again.
no subject
What happened to your hands?
( It's not what he means to say at all, but he keeps his expression placid, curiosity getting the better of him. If Yuji is like any old monkey then it's something different, isn't it? It's something different.
Though he does step away from the portal entrance, just in case anyone comes through after them. )
no subject
It's a side effect of my cursed technique.
[ Looking down at his hands, he flexes them absently. The claws, the weird musculature, the... Size of them. It all happened after what he chose to do, so... ]
It's just part of that, so it's nothing special or anything.
no subject
( Stubborn, despite all of his other misgivings. ) If it's a part of your technique that is.
( For his part, Geto really doesn't know how he feels about someone like Yuji. It's easier to hate people like the Zen'in reject, simply because they don't have any power to speak of ( or didn't, he amends, another thing he's learnt since his arrival ). This boy is a special case. Still, he hates the feeling that the world has changed without him, that his way of thinking might need to catch up. )
Satoru wouldn't like you helping me. ( Idly, even though invoking Gojo's name makes him feel like throwing a middle finger up at the sky. ) I can probably find my way back again.
no subject
[ Yuji remains, as ever, unable to accept that he is in any way unique, despite being the one in a million chance of a cage for Sukuna. His hands, to him, aren't special: they're claws, weapons, a danger, a threat, something ugly and horrifying, not necessarily a good thing.
He also isn't sure how he feels about this guy calling them 'special' either, considering the whole 'monkey' thing... ]
Gojo-sensei won't mind as long as you don't make me beat you up again.
[ Aha. If they say it a third time, sensei might appear. ]
I'd rather be nice to someone than hurt them, anyway.
no subject
( It's not his fault that his handsome face deeply upsets everyone he comes across! But they'd long since started the fight before Geto brought his terrible personality to the fore, and so he's considering himself the wounded party here. It's what he said to Satoru anyway, refusing to puzzle out anything related to what happened to him after his death. )
That's a foolish thing to believe. ( Without bite. ) Most people will use that against you. And kindness isn't an effective shield. You're probably more likely to be hated by everyone around you in the first place. You don't fit in on both sides.
( If it's cruel he thinks it's incidental. And he doesn't need kindness himself, absolutely not. )
no subject
[ It's not Geto-san's fault that Kenjaku took control of his body to use his technique no more than it's Yuji's fault for misunderstanding who he was - it was the nature of who that guy had been, using bodies to do whatever he wanted without hesitation, not caring about who he hurt or tortured along the way. Yuji can still remember the way he had shouted, desperate for Gojo-sensei's return, and the way that Choso had shouted at him... Noritoshi Kamo...
Lifting his head, Yuji shrugs a little. ]
That's the thing, Geto-san. Most people around me hate me already because I was the Vessel of Sukuna. It didn't matter what I did or how hard I fought, their perception of me was just that. So why would I want to use all of that to be angry and hurt people, when I could use my strength to help them instead? It just seemed like the better thing to do.
[ Rubbing the back of his head, he sighs. ]
One time, my grandpa told me I was strong, and good, so I should help people. That's what I want to do, even now. I might not deserve to do that, or have the right, but if I can do something to make people live and have less regrets, then I'll be happy to do it. That's kind of my role in this, I guess.
no subject
Geto keeps silent throughout Yuji talking, his own mouth twisted into something that could be bitter or could be dread. It's the earnestness, he thinks, the desperate need to do good in the world. How could he not recognise it? It had been in him once, had been in Haibara, had been in Amanai. None of them had escaped alive, and while Geto still walks he wonders just how long there's been a part of him that had withered off just the same. Long before Gojo Satoru finished the job, anyway. Maybe ever since he had a girl's blood soaking into his shoes and no one out there to help him. He wonders if Yuji has ever had to deal with that. Doesn't know what it means that he does. )
It's going to eat you up.
( It isn't goading this time, it's just tired. He tells himself he doesn't care, why should he? What happens to the kid is none of his business and his stance has long been clear? He'd been executed for it, and he clings to it even now. Humans are still the reason for so much death, so much pain. But this one - this one had learnt. Hadn't that been the other side of the coin that Yuki Tsukumo had flipped that day? That they could be taught?
Is he wrong?No, he can't be. )
You're useful to them, but they don't hide their hatred, right? They don't care. They never will. And when you've done what they need you to do they'll find a way to bury you.
( A pause, a sigh, thumb digging in between his brows. )
It's nice. That you have hope. I just don't think it's going to do you any good in the end.
no subject
[ Or maybe it already has. Yuji might have those kinds of hopes and dreams, might be determined to do something good in the end, but the reality is different. He is suffering, he has lost so many people, has had their blood on his hands and their last words ringing in his ears, and it hurts. It hurts to think about how many people have died for him, because of him, all for him to be left here, thinking this: I am a cog.
Part of a machine, part of some great plan he doesn't understand, with him as a vessel for someone who had already stolen his life once before he took it a second time, ripping Megumi from his hands.
Lifting his gaze back to the other man, he hesitates for a moment. It's brief, a flicker of his gaze, but he allows it before he nods his head. ]
Sure, it's like that, but I agreed to it. I could've run away, but I chose to stay. If I can do something to kill Sukuna, even if it costs me my life, then it would be worth it to me. I want to save the people I care about.
[ Ah, this was getting too heavy... But they'd ended up here because of his stupid hands, his stupid, too-big mouth, and now all he can do is shake his head a little. ]
Let them hate me. If I can kill that guy, then that's okay. I can handle their hate easily enough!
no subject
He shouldn't even be considering talking to this kid anymore. And yet, instead of a dismissal what comes out of Geto's mouth is vaguely amused. )
Well. You pack a punch. ( How long had the bruises taken to heal? ) Who knows. Maybe you'll do it.
( A beat, and he glances back to the city before them. It's all so exhausting. Everything he remembered, history repeating itself, this. ) We should be going there, right? You can tell me more about the school on the way.
( Because he is a nefarious criminal after all. Without waiting for a response he just starts walking, throwing a question over his shoulder. )
Do you have any other teachers other than S- your Gojo-sensei? I can't see him sticking to a curriculum.
no subject
He does, at least, feel a little bit bad about the bruises and blood he had left on Geto-san. He hadn't earned those, and it makes his stomach twist - nausea from the teleportation, surely. ]
Sure, I guess that's fine.
[ Gojo-sensei had told him to be careful, to not hang around with Geto-san too much, but this should be okay, right? It's not as if they're going to beat each other up again, and it's just questions about stuff that would probably be public knowledge to a guy like him. ]
Gojo-sensei taught me the most, but I've been taught by Kusakabe-sensei too. [ In a special and painfully unique way. ] I also had Nanamin to teach me, but he didn't like being called 'sensei'.
[ Trotting along beside him, like a good boy. ]
no subject
Mm, that doesn't surprise me about Nanami. He was very quiet.
( He'd still been Geto's friend, once upon a time. Impossible to share a space together and not get along. )
But I can see him being a good teacher. He had more patience than some of us. Is he still very serious?
no subject
Either way, it's confusing, and he wants to know more. He can't help himself, endlessly curious about his sensei. ]
Yeah, he's the best. I miss him a lot.
[ No need to let on that Nanami died. He could come back here, be here, and that... It would be the best. Yuji does miss him, painfully and endlessly.
Laughing, though, just a little chuckle, Yuji nods. ]
Almost all of the time. Getting him to smile was a real treat.
no subject
Yeah.
( Thoughtful, a little wistful. He shakes it off between one step and the next. )
Does Satoru still drive him crazy?
( There's no point in asking, it's not exactly intel. But he finds himself greedy for it. There's no one else he can ask. )
no subject
[ So it's possible.
Yuji's well aware that there's a complicated relationship between Nanamin and the rest of the world they're in, and that complicated relationship probably extends to Gojo-sensei as well... It makes him wonder, absently, how much Nanami thought of him, in the end, given how much he is like his teacher sometimes. Other times Yuji is softened by the knowledge that Nanami's last words were to give him strength, the memory of that both a shot to the heart and a comfortable blanket around his shoulders.
He's got it from here. That's okay.
Yuji has this. He has the weight of Nanami's final words, and it makes him feel... A great deal of things.
It probably shouldn't make him happy. ]
Nanamin was here for a little while, but he disappeared about a month ago. LILITH sent him back.
no subject
( Maybe he truly would be worried about the state of the world if it had been any other way. He's about to ask more but then Yuji's other comment throws a spanner into the works. Something troubled crosses Geto's features, his thoughts skirting too close to the things he has been choosing not to think about.
Going back.
Is that an option? Does he want it to be one? )
How often does that happen? People being sent home?
no subject
It's not super common, but it's not rare, either. I've known a few people that simply disappeared one day, Nanamin being one of them. We don't get to decide who comes or goes, or how long we stay.
[ His arms cross absently behind his head. He doesn't mind explaining this kind of thing to Geto-san, since it's part of how this world works. It's not exactly a secret. ]
I went home for a few weeks, too, but it was only one night here.
