▶ 001. SEAS THE DAY.

On the morning of the 1st, sirens will blare, forcing every Outsider and Neo Tokyo civilian awake. While it hasn't been activated for a while, every citizen within the city knows this alarm all too well - it wails through the city whenever a Kaiju has been detected, ordering everyone to return to their homes immediately and stay there until they receive further information. Outsiders gazing at Neo Tokyo will see the armored city in its full technological splendour for the first time today. Once the civilians have returned to their homes, machinery within the buildings will work like clockwork, sinking each and every LILITH-augmented building beneath the ground. Just in time, too, because the waves are starting to roar again, crashing beyond the shore and flooding the city once more. Observant Outsiders may note that not every building has been modified. The older ones remain standing, vulnerable to the impending flood. Does anyone live in those buildings? The answer is yes, but that's not a priority at the moment.

Every Outsider will receive a summon, ordering them to prepare for battle. The Kaiju has been identified and located. It's show time.

"Angels of LILITH. We have located the Kaiju coming from beyond the sea. A full mission brief including the information we have gathered will be sent to you immediately. For now, make your way to the bay where your transport will be waiting. Be prepared for anything, but mostly, be prepared to swim."

Waiting for the Outsiders at the bay appear to be ... expensive-looking, personal yachts? This has to be a mistake, right? It's no mistake. Through intel LILITH has exchanged with international companies, it appears that this particular Kaiju has a fondness for overturning civilian yachts, and there's no better way to attract it than to leave it its favourite bait. The goal is to attract these Kaiju towards the boats and then attacking.

The ships may look like they're outfitted for a fancy yacht party. In fact, some exploring down below deck in the lounging room, one may find caviar on fancy ritz, oyster tower, little finger sandwiches with the crusts cut off and bougie smelly cheese that nobody in LILITH's pay grade can identify. On another table, there is fancy ramen spoons filled with microgreens, crystal jelly vinegarette, and a thin slice of parmesan cheese. Some further looking may find some fine aged wine, but you're not here to drink and party, you're here to fight a Kaiju! Right? Right.

Despite the fact everything about these yachts just look like... fancy yachts... they are actual warships that are mounted with naval artillery such as swivel guns, missiles and torpedos. Spears, harpoon guns and fishing nets can also be found and used if an Outsider is more comfortable getting extremely close to the monsters. There's no time for a proper seafaring course, so Outsiders will be given a quick run down on how the controls work, and be sent on their way. They will also be given a special jewel-like implant that attaches to the skin, right along the forehead, and told to wear it if they need to go into the water. "Don't worry about it," the LILITH crew says. "But it'll be one hell of a ride if you use it."

Alongside the crew, Seok Dang seems to be also assisting (?) though he's gotten a hold of the reception food down below. Did he smell like fine wine? Possibly. But that's definitely a fancy, half eaten cracker in his hand. He's also got on a bright, neon life preserver. Maybe someone doesn't know how to swim.

"WHOOO HELLA YEAH, MOTHERFUCKERS. Don't know how to swim? Don't'cha worry. Daddy Dang has got you covered. I know CPR! I give the best CPR! 💖 I'll rescue ya. TONIGHT, WE BALL!"

Nobody uses that phrase anymore, but you know what? You do you, SD.

▶ 002. WHALE WATCHING.

Minutes into their ship's course, the boats will rock violently, as if those already violent waves have somehow come alive. There is something in the water! The mission brief would have been shared with them sometime during their trip, but maybe Outsiders want to pull up on their implant the image and debrief shared once again now that there is some action. The orca-like Kaiju trying to reach the shores of Neo Tokyo is called Shachimon, and she's been the cause of the violent waves and flooding we've seen for the past few weeks. Alongside of her and are her children orca who love to mimic everything their mother does. The biggest one, the matriarch of the pod, is over 60 meters in length - large enough to swallow a boat whole. The younger ones are smaller but just as ferocious, spanning from the size of a car to the size of a bus. The youngsters are a size small enough that they can leap out of the water, sometimes crashing down onto people and ships. Beware!

Shachimon will be fighting to knock over boats, or climbing on boats with their amphibious legs. Once they get their hands on humans or Outsiders, they pull them into the water, tearing them limb from limb to feed. Their control over the waves are no joke, either. With a powerful swing of their tail, they can conjure up tsunamis capable of overturning ships. The matriarch, if left to her own devices, seems bent on submerging Neo Tokyo to make food of all its citizens.

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: Shachimon
HEIGHT: Younger whales are 4 - 18 metres. The matriarch is 60 meters in length.
WEIGHT: 1500kg - 5000kg
CLASS: Highly dangerous.
LOCATION: Large bodies of water
ABILITIES: Use of sonar to detect any water movement. Fast swimmer. Very sturdy body thanks to all that whale blubber. High intelligence - commonly works together as a pod to take down prey. Capable of creating tsunamis that overturn boats. The largest Shachimon can sink a city if not stopped.
WEAKNESS: Electricity (since it will be inside water), dissection, spearing its eyes or blowhole. Loud vibrations within the water can stun or confuse it.
EXTRA NOTES: Dislikes and will attempt to overturn civilian yachts. Carnivorous, eating marine life and human flesh. Sadistic personality, may play with their food prior to eating.

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Lead the Shachimon away from the shore.
✖ Extermination of Shachimon in the water and if they reach the shore.
✖ Protection of nearby fishermen's boats and civilians within those boats.
✖ Teamwork to destroy the matriach Shachimon.
✖ Bring back specimens (live or deceased) for research purposes.

As a note, Outsiders who wish to remain on land and help civilians there may do so. There are waves flooding the city, and some of the smaller, quicker Shachimon will have made it to shore. They will need to be taken care of before they can terrorise the city.

▶ 003. OCEAN GEMS.

Shachimon are most deadly in the water and their go-to strategy is to pull others into their turf, where they have the advantage. That's where those jewel-like implants come in. These implants, called OCEAN GEMS, when attached to the skin, temporarily modify the body. Once activated, nanobots will invade the bloodstream and alter the user's lungs, giving them a set of breathable gills. Their legs will also be altered, giving them fins and the tail of a fish. This is a recent invention by LILITH ever since the first Shachimon was spotted a few years ago, and the technology is still experimental. This means that the transformation process will be significantly uncomfortable, feeling a bit like being asphyxiated and having your legs sewn together at the same time. Deactivating the gem and turning back feels just as uncomfortable, and being experimental technology, it can take a while before the user can successfully revert back. Those who want to fight in the water and lack any weapons or abilities that can be used can request Seok Dang for a weapon. There's a limited supply, but they will be given a special trident. Directly driving the spear into one of the kaiju will electrocute it, giving a higher chance for higher damage. These tridents will be handed out to those who want to use their Ocean Gem and ask.

It's up to Outsiders whether they want to use this new technology or not. Being able to fight the monsters on their own terrain is certainly an advantage, so LILITH would highly encourage it.

▶ 004. MEDICAL BAY.

Healers and those with medical experience will be placed on the warship with a red flag on it. Dr. Spim & Alex will also be present on this ship to assist any major injuries to both LILITH and civilian fisherman alike. This ship is bigger than the others, and while stocked up with the same artillery, it is also stocked with beds and medical supplies. This will be the Outsider's naval medical bay during the siege on the Shachimon and all injured Outsiders or civilians will need to be transported there. This ship will also need to be protected heavily, because once the Shachimon catch on that all the injured, vulnerable prey are being transported to the larger ship, they will start to target that ship in particular. Characters that need immediate medical help should be transported to this ship via a dataportal. Each yacht has a dataportal that can teleport anyone instantly to the medical ship. The dataportals are also located down below deck to prevent them from getting damaged.

▶ 005. THE CALM AFTER THE STORM.

It's a bloody, soggy and gruesome battle and the seas' waves begin to calm down, the sea filled with kaiju carcasses. LILITH's clean up crew is working hastily to collect these corpses, but with the Outsiders' occupied and recovering from their fresh battle, help is limited. Search and rescue scavenges the sea to find any civilians who didn't make it or may need medical help. Meanwhile, the valiant teamwork and effort has paid off. After many hits from many different weapons, artillery, natural abilities, etc. the matriarch kaiju has been downed and sank to the bottom of the ocean floor. LILITH's team will work to retrieve the massive carcass, though it will take awhile. Those who put in notable effort will receive praise and a little extra payout. Outsiders will see an instant transfer of funds to their account: 340,000,000 KRYPTOS. This is roughly about 2500 USD.

The intense battle will have lasted several days and Outsiders are free to go from land to sea as little or as often as they like. It is all over, though, and Outsiders will be called to return to the MAIN BASE for rest and recovery. LILITH will also be searching for the rift where the kaiju came from while Outsiders recover. A message from an unknown voice will pop up an hour or so after all Outsiders have returned to the MAIN BASE. Outsiders may use this time to socialize in a commons area, wash up in the showers, get a meal in the cafeteria or rest.

"Good work."

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our first Kaiju log! All prompts are highly encouraged but OOCly optional. ICly, characters can choose to fight in the ocean, on the ships or stay behind on land and protect the city. At the end of the siege, characters who accepted an Ocean Gem will be asked to return it. It's experimental technology, so LILITH will need to do more tweaking before they can properly release it. Outsiders who use the gem may have whatever fish tail they like, as long as it is a sea creature.

Feel free to NPC your characters' fights with the smaller kaijus. The main fight with the Shachimon matriarch will be determined via a HP-based system (See below).

Please note that all tags in this log count for 2 reward points each. Ask any further questions below!

Below is also the month at a glance. We understand the CALENDAR has been a little inconsistent, but the mod team is sorting all of this out. Expect a FEEDBACK POST this month as well so we can check in with the playerbase and make any adjustments to the game. This log, even if the time stamp says JANUARY, will count for FEBRUARY AC.

❀ WHALE WATCHING I

(The ship rocks against the ever growing waves and it's a miracle if anyone is able to settle down at all like this. Suddenly, it lurches hard to one side, undoubtedly sending its inhabitants tumbling where ever they may be. It manages to right itself back up but before anyone can wonder if they hit something… it becomes obvious that what had actually happened was that something hit them.

Another great wave comes, sending the ship turning over once more. The waves splash onto the deck and what emerges from the spray are the first Shachimon. They kick and claw their way across the deck, tearing at the wood and chasing after prey on board.

Tsurumaru moves quickly on deck, his sword striking at one of the younger creatures on board. Despite the tossing and turning in the waves, he never appears to lose his balance. In fact, it almost looks like he's dancing from target to target, taking advantage of the momentum of the ship to move about, )

Haha! Tonight, we ball!

(Yeah, he said that.

A brief pause in the fighting and he looks back at you,)

❀ WHALE WATCHING II

(It's when the matriarch rises that things take a turn. Just by size alone, it's obvious that there's no way a single person can take it down and Tsurumaru is wise enough to see that his preferred weapon and fighting style of choice are not going to be the most advantageous here. From a distance, they'll need to rely on artillery and if they're lucky (or unlucky) enough to get close, it's clear that they'll need more specialized weaponry to really bring down the matriarch shachimon.

A pod of young shachimon charge at their ship at the same time, sending a great wave at the ship. Tsurumaru and anyone on board finds himself splashed by the powerful wave but that isn't all. From the wave, the matriarch emerges and swipes a heavy claw across the deck. Stunned by the wave, Tsurumaru takes a hit. It knocks him off balance, he slips, and hits the railing. His sword clatters down onto the ground and he lunges for it just as another wave besets them. He's more focused on getting his sword back than he is about the wall of water or the matriarch trying to bring them down with her aggressive flailing. He doesn't even care that she's about to snap at him with her jaws.)

❀ MEDICAL BAY

(When the battle is over, Tsurumaru can be found in the medical bay. He'd been brought there a little while earlier. He's mostly dried off and is wrapped up in a blanket to keep him warm. He coughs violently, practically gagging.

Hoarsely, )

Water. (He wants water. ) And give me my sword—

(He's reaching for an ornate blade on a nearby table. A nurse scolds him telling him the battle is over so he doesn't need to go back out anymore while keeping him back.

Impatiently, he snaps back. For some, it may be the first time they've seen him lose his usual cool and whimsy,)

I said give it to me.

(Or maybe instead of a nurse, you're the one taking care of him in which case you may know he was brought back in after being stunned in the battle. His symptoms match with consuming too much salt water but unlike most of the others, he can't seem to recover. Maybe he still has water in his lungs…?)

[ Aki didn't get severely wounded in this battle - he was being careful, which is both illogical and odd for him, but he is trying - but he's got enough cuts and scrapes to get him to go to the medical ship and the med bay before he lets himself wander off home. If Denji caught him with any sort of bleeding or bruising that he didn't have checked out, he'd inevitably end up in trouble.

His new arm is aching, the water acting like cold rain to leave him wincing as he flexes the metallic fingers. Yeah, it aches, but he's not about to ask for any kind of painkillers or anaesthetics when he got through the initial surgery without it.

Hearing a familiar voice, his eyebrows raise as he sees Tsurumaru, stepping over and settling down in a chair at his bedside. ]

Do you really need your sword here?

[cranekin]

(He tries to grab his sword only for the nurse to push him back down on the bed. The fight is over. This isn't a place for carrying weapons. He should focus on recovering. Maybe get an x-ray to see if there's any fluid in his lungs--)

We're always together.

(His sword and him.)

No one knows what they're doing here.

(A glance a the nurse who is beginning to wonder if they should go get help. Is Aki going to help? Why just sit there when this patient is clearly being stubborn!!!)

Get me water. I need to rinse off.

(Not to drink.)

Like me and my sword.

[ Aki looks at the nurse, then back at Tsurumaru, and then sighs. It seems as though he is doomed to end up babysitting people who get themselves into trouble, and he steps forward to take charge. It gives her leave to back away and go elsewhere, which she seems more than happy to do.

This is just his life now, yeah. ]

Lie back and get comfortable. I'll get you water and your sword, if you're sensible.

[ He steps away from the bed for a moment to get a glass of water, filling it from a nearby jug, then he's passing over both it and the blade, careful as he handles the hilt. He even uses his flesh hand, just in case.

Even with the 'rinse off'... Aki assumes he's going to drink it. ]

(The nurse seems relieved when Aki steps in. They have better things to do than deal with a fussy patient.

As for Tsurumaru himself, he gives him a look, as if assessing if this really is better or not. It's clear he's trying to get a read on the situation but then he begins to sputter and cough again. It's a wet cough that doesn't seem to go.

Watching Aki get the water and his sword is a good sign and he reaches to take the sword, still coughing and the first thing he does is immediately draw the blade. Another nurse nearby shrieks at him to put it away but he isn't listening. He takes his scabbard and turns it upside down.

Water spills out out of the scabbard and he gives it a good shake to try to get as much out as possible. As he does, he coughs, and coughs until... he seems to catch his breath. He sets the scabbard upside down next to him and then reaches for the glass. If Aki lets him take it, he'll dunk it over the blade itself and all over the floor.

Is this making any sense so far...)

[ Aki shakes his head at the nursing staff, urging them away. He's got this one, even if they'd rather Tsurumaru... Not do whatever it is he's doing.

With the sword in the other man's hand, Aki can watch him curiously. He's not blind, he can make connections, wise and smart enough to figure things out - when people have Devil contracts, when people work together, when he has to fight against creatures with all kinds of powers and techniques. He adapts, he learns, and he survives... Or he survived.

He's not really too sure about his own future any longer. Not with how Denji has been.

Settling down in the chair beside Tsurumaru, Aki takes his own sword off his back and rests it across his lap, watching him for a long, quiet moment before he sighs. ]

Do you want to explain? Or do you want to keep it a secret?

[ He'll survive either way. ]

(Water drips from the blade onto the floor. If he had room, he'd give it a good swing to shake the excess off but instead, he settles in with his sword on his lad and uses the blanket to start wiping it dry.

He doesn't answer right away but after a few seconds, some of his edge seems to die down and he looks more relaxed.)

(So the choice is his if he wants to explain...?)

[ Sooyoung is so close to completing the slice-of-life anime schoolgirl look with a sandwich sticking out from her mouth except she's much older than a high school student. It should have been a toast instead of a fancy sandwich, too. Not to mention that the kaijus crawling across the deck just don't make a good background for a slice-of-life story. ]

You sounded like an old man, so... I guess you did good.

[ After swallowing that sandwich, Sooyoung feels like slashing one of the monsters ... the thing is, she's not as good at keeping balance. At best, she's looking comical trying to fend off one of the kaijus. ]

(Because he is, in fact, an old man and he maybe it's because of his nature as something made by humans... but it's nice to be praised. And because his mood is so good, he's more than happy to practically dance his way over to Sooyoung.

While he's always been a strong fighter, his true strength has always been in his skill-- in his ability to move quickly, gracefully, and accurately. He uses the momentum of the ship to give himself a little more air when he leaps to kick one of the smaller shachimon in the jaw.)

Relax.

(If he needs to, he'll even reach out to help her keep her balance,)

[ Sorry, Seok Dang, Sooyoung jut does everything better (does she really, though). Maybe save for maintaining balance at the moment. She can see Tsuru reaching out to her but it's easier to ignore to his attempt to help and struggle rather than simply accept. ]

I'll be fine. You've got some cool moves, though.

[ If she compliments him a lot now, will he clear most (or preferably all) Shachimon... only time will tell. ]

(And wow, stop struggling. He isn't going to force anything though. He has bigger fish (heh) to fry so once he's at least sure she isn't going to fall on her face, he's already moving for another one of the mutated orca,)

This isn't my first time at sea.

(He's been on a ship before! And he's slashing at the same shachimon now.)

[ If he's so impatient, he can get his first free slang lesson now. The rest will come later, though. ]

[ Or she should just watch him do all the job while trying to maintain balance. ]

(The sea wasn't as violent. The enemies were more familiar. This battle is more difficult.)

[Not on Raidou's watch. He's having a hard time staying upright himself, but seeing Tsurumaru almost get turned into dinner has him bolt into action, waves be damned.

In this fight, Raidou had hesitantly left his sword with the med ship crew. It wasn't the best weapon in this situation, and best that he keeps it safe for later. Now, he carries a spear. It's trickier to wield, but it can actually do some damage against such giant, thick-skinned monsters.

As the shachimon attempts to take a bite of Tsurumaru, Raidou slides across the deck, spear pointed upward. He gets right behind him, so that when the matriarch does bite down, she gets a spear to the upper palate instead of them. It only gives them a few extra seconds though, as she shakes her hear trying to free the annoying intrusion.]

Move!

[cranekin]

(It's really lucky that saves him this time. If Raidou hadn't been around, he definitely would have been fish food. Still, despite the danger, he's more focused with getting back his sword. He manages to get ahold of it just as Raidou strikes.

The matriarch hisses and flails, shaking the ship with her. The ship rocks violently and Tsurumaru only just barely manages to get up onto his feet. It's obvious that he's been stunned and he struggle to keep his balance but he can't just back down. He can't leave Raidou like this. Not someone on his team. Not someone he feels responsible for.

What happens next is quick: He shifts position and the air around him seems to shift from cold, salty, and chaotic to warm, fresh, and almost light like a warm spring's day. Cherry blossom petals mix with the ocean spray and in an instant, Tsurumaru slashes up at the matriarch. It's no ordinary slash-- in its wake, it leaves a a bright white light. Raidou may be able to sense a strong, concentrated burst of divine energy behind the attack. The light dissipates, white feathers fall like snow, disappearing into the seafoam. The matriarch frees herself and slips back into the ocean... for now.

... And Tsurumaru collapses. )

[With his current weapon lost, there isn't much Raidou can do other than make sure the two don't become the matriarch's next meal. But all he can do is hang on a the ship is tossed around, eyes on Tsurumaru and his incredible attack, impressed at the power behind it.

He snaps out of watching the spectacle of it all when Tsurumaru falls to the deck floor.]

Tsurumaru!

[He's over in a flash, and in what might seems like a strange move, pulls off one of Tsurumaru's gloves and takes his hand. Whatever might be wrong, Raidou is hoping his healing factor can fix it.]

[cranekin]

(He groans, his entire body aching from wear. It takes him another second to realize what's happening but once he does, he closes his hand around Raidou's, making a point to lock their fingers together and squeezing it,)

My, my... (He looks up at Raidou's face,) What a scary look...

(On his face, that is. Raidou looks so concerned, he can't help but feel how serious everything is. Tsurumaru smiles tiredly, a weak attempt to dispel any concern,)

Don't worry, don't worry.

[Raidou tries to be as gentle has he can, circumstances aside. He's so very glad he got this healing upgrade, no matter how horrendous the process was. He's already used it so much already, and will continue to do so. It's not the fastest process, but even a few minutes should make a marked difference in Tsurumaru. Or so he hopes.

Having to continually be touching people has been a bit of a trial, though. He'll get used to it. He shakes his head at Tsuru, smiling ever so slightly now, glad he's still conscious.]

Just hold still, and I won't. I can fix you up a bit.

[ jing yuan's manning one of the artillery to shoot down some of the smaller kaiju when the wave hits them, his foothold nearly slipping if it weren't for his grip on the railing. but he scrambles when he sees some of the crew assailed by the water, and even worse, when his eyes land on the monstrous figure rising from the depths—

on its way to snap at the closest figure seemingly flailing to grab at a weapon.

summoning his glaive, he attempts to go over but finds himself harassed by two other monsters. instead, he summons lightning-lord to drag tsurumaru back before those jaws can snap him into two just as jing yuan halves the kaiju before him and slides towards them. ]

(Disoriented, his senses somehow both simultaneously heightened but dulled, he can sense the danger approach. Even without help, he would have managed to get away but it would have been close. His fingers brush against the hilt of his sword and the ship jerks, the blade slipping just out of reach and sliding across the deck, catching in a tangle of rope and life vests.

He senses a great burst of energy and the next thing he knows, that same energy comes at him and practically knocks him off his feet? No, it takes him back. He stares at the spirit, taken by the brightness, the energy, and the power he feels...

How thrilling.

and Tsurumaru's own eyes seem to glow brighter, though, if it's from the lightning lord's glow or something else, it isn't clear. Regardless, he seems to find his footing again and he tries to brace himself, regaining his composure once again and eyes instantly spotting where his blade is.)

[ she's not really here to take care of him per se. or anyone here, really; the medbay needed more people to keep the kaiju at bay, and ishmael can't risk using her E.G.O and corrode all over them again. so here she is, octopus legs and all, supervising a coughing tsurumaru and -- ]

Just give it to him. [ she shakes her head at the nurse who's been having second thoughts. ] I'll make sure he stays put.

[ she'll even restrain him with her tentacles if it comes to that. ]

[cranekin]

(The nurse tries to complain, arguing that the patient needs to rest! he shouldn't be trying to get up and fight now. Tsurumaru sputters and coughs, still trying to grab the blade until finally the nurse relents but not without a glance in Ishmael's direction. If anything happens.... they'll both face the nurse's wrath.)

I'm not going anywhere.

(Tsurumaru insists but now that he's managed to get his hand on his blade... he sure is drawing it now. He hasn't even noticed Ishmael really. He's been so focused on getting his sword and now that he finally has it, he turns the scabbard upside down... letting water spill out onto the floor.

... He coughs again.)
