KAIJU FIGHT #2
KAIJU FIGHT #2
▶ 001. IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
On the 1st of April, Outsiders will be rudely awakened by the sudden voice of Captain Yamakawa:

The alarm will sound in the base, urging all Outsiders to suit up, bring their weapons and get ready for the mission. A location pin will then be downloaded into their implant, along with an associated mission briefing. The location will lead to an abandoned amusement park that might be familiar to some - Tokyo Disneyland. The brief will report that according to intel, there is an unauthorized research facility hidden within the premises. Outsiders are to locate it, storm it, and seize any lab specimens they can find.
To get to the theme park, characters will be able to take trains to the edge of Neo Tokyo where they can then be transported by armored trucks through what remains of old roads. Eventually, when the terrain becomes too destroyed and overgrown with brush, they’ll have to travel by foot the rest of the way. However, they will have to be careful because it looks like someone has laid out traps. Some of them are designed to capture animals but others are clearly booby traps meant to deter intruders.
From the outside, nothing looks out of the ordinary in this old park - there are classic attractions such as Cinderella’s castle, the Haunted Mansion, Alice’s Teacup ride, the Western River Railroad, and many, many more. While most of the rides are weathered down and no longer functional, there are plenty of old gift shops and carnival game booths with prizes to take home for free (if you don’t mind a really old Minnie Mouse doll).
LILITH was not able to pinpoint exactly where this secret laboratory is hidden within the enormous park, and it’s now up to the Outsiders to find it. All implants will be fitted with a heat-seeking function to allow Outsiders to detect anomalies within the park.
The first part of the mission is simple: Scour the rides and attractions and find the entrance.
Outsiders may encounter more booby traps while searching the park. Traps will range from making parts of attractions and buildings collapse on intruders to more elaborate and high-tech ones like electric fields or explosive traps. Players are more than welcome to come up with their own traps so long as it fits the setting.
"Angels of Lilith. I require your immediate attention. Through your efforts at extracting information from our captives, and intel collected by our intelligence team, we have located the culprits who have stolen our specimens and are conducting illegal experiments. Your mission briefing will arrive shortly. Take caution, however. The Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is reporting strange abnormalities in their readings. We will look further into this. For now, stay sharp and be prepared."

▶ 002. BOO WHO?
Eventually, Outsiders will find themselves drawn to the Haunted Mansion, where there appear to be several abnormal signs of life. While the mansion would hardly have been scary to anyone but children several hundred years ago, centuries without any sort of maintenance have turned the place into a real nightmare. Pitch darkness, decrepit fake graves that look like they could be real ones, and the mysterious chatter of – is that a ghost? There are flickers of life within the old animatronics, and ever so often you might see a skeleton or zombie twitch. They might even take a swing at an unsuspecting Outsider.
The deeper into the mansion you travel, the more power it appears to have, until the Outsiders reach a door that appears to be heavily guarded by a group of humans holding vicious chimeras on a leash.
Once LILITH receives this intel, the next order is given: Storm the lab immediately!

▶ 003. LET'S GECK-GO!
As the Outsiders infiltrate the lab, the air buzzes with electricity and everyone's hair begins to stand on end not from fear but from the sheer amount of energy generated. There may be a lot of machines generating a lot of power and some of it may be spilling excess electricity into the air but this feels different. It feels more potent.
Suddenly, the park comes to life. Old generators buzz to life, staticky music begins to play on the worn out speakers, and the lights begin to flash. From the overgrowth surrounding the park, trees begin to topple over. It is obvious that something is approaching and whatever it is seems to have a lot of energy. From the trees, a giant, gecko-like creature emerges. The air around it sparks and each step it takes generates a wave of electricity that follows the many wires and systems laid out underground.
The energy at the park seems to be drawing the unknown kaiju towards the park and more geckos appear from the forests behind it. They move quickly through the park and climb over the buildings and attractions. When they see a hybrid or a person nearby, they will stun them with their electric fields and try to eat them. As they begin to swarm the park, they go into a feeding frenzy that infects the air around them. Rides begin to spin faster, the music grows louder, lights explode, and the more electricity and power the geckos absorb, the bigger they become when they shed their skins.
One gecko in particular grows faster than the others. This one will keep growing with no apparent end in sight and begins climbing over the highest rides until they topple under its weight. Outsiders will have to avoid collapsing rubble and climb over ruined attractions to take down this kaiju while also stopping the other geckos from growing to the same size.
After dealing with the gecko kaiju for some time without any information, a report will finally come in:

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEETThe Outsiders will have to cut off all energy supplies to stop feeding the newly named Yamadenki and then defeat them.
NAME: Yamadenki
HEIGHT: 3 metres- unknown (does not stop growing)
WEIGHT: 1,500-70,000 kg
CLASS: Dangerous
LOCATION: Kanto, Japan
ABILITIES: Stores electricity within its body. Uses static electricity to climb up and stick to objects. Can use electric shocks to stun and injure prey. The more energy they absorb, the bigger they grow. When close enough to a human, it kills them by biting into their flesh and absorbing the electrical currents within the cells, disrupting the heart rate and nervous system. It then eats the flesh.
WEAKNESS: Attacks to the head and body. Ice and extreme cold (they are cold blooded).
EXTRA NOTES: Can regrow appendages. Their severed appendages and bodies can retain electricity for an unknown amount of time so proceed with caution.
█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Cut off the supply of electricity at the park by disabling all generators
✖ Bring back the Yamadenki (alive or dead) for research purposes
✖ Bring back the hybrid specimens
✖ Capture all suspicious persons for interrogation
█ █ █ ATTACHED PHOTO:
▶ 004. A RIFT IN SPACE-TIME
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY! Unknown energy signal detected! Reaching maximum output! Our sensors are detecting a breach in the inter-dimensional fabric!"
An hour into battle, Outsiders will receive a sudden warning signal, urging them to complete their mission and eliminate the Yamadenki before it’s too late. All that concentrated energy generated at the park is being corrupted by the Yamadenki, and it’s not long before a rift bursts through from beneath the Haunted Mansion, causing a huge explosion and a rain of rubble and mysterious energy. It’s the first of its kind. A rift has never opened this close to Neo Tokyo!
Energy from the rift seems to affect anyone standing too close to it, transforming any unprotected human into a snarling, groaning, human-reptilian hybrid. These hybrids have electrical qualities similar to the Yamadenki and are just as ferocious. The plugsuits issued by LILITH should protect characters against any nasty transformations (unless there is some damage to them or they have taken them off), but exposure to the rift can still result in increased headaches, vertigo, irritability and impulsiveness.
The rift is growing larger by the minute, and from the other side of it - the growling of a number of unknown beasts can be heard. Even the higher ups within LILITH are anxious about this. The only way to stop the rift is to cut off its power supply.

▶ 005. AFTERMATH.
As the Outsiders shut down generators and take down the Yamadenki, the rift shrinks in size until finally it closes. Everything at the park goes still now that there is no more power to run things. Some of the corrupted humans and hybrids still linger and will have to be taken down or captured but they are in weakened states now that the rift has closed.
Outsiders will be tasked with capturing the Rift-infected humans who will then be transported to LILITH base for treatment... if they can be treated, that is. Outsiders will also need to report for treatment. Characters may experience the lingering effects of the rift such as the vertigo, headaches, shorter tempers, and impulsive behavior. The LILITH medics aren’t sure what to do other than prescribing bed rest and maybe offering some medication for their headaches. The worst cases may be prescribed sedatives.
Normally, LILITH would order the Outsiders to retrieve specimens from the field but given the events that unfolded, they are told to standby until a special research unit can inspect the area for contamination and give the all clear.

The kaiju has enough time to get back onto its feet, since the physical blow has dealt Raidou a defensive electric shock that slows him for a moment. But at this point in the fight, he's taken so many, he feels like he's shrugging them off. Not true - he's showing signs of fatigue, his arms shaking slightly as he raises his sword, his clothing charred and bloody in several spots. The rift's side effects have him being more reckless and unyielding than ever.
The monster hisses and leaps at the new assailant, and Raidou rushes forward when it does. He's aiming for its throat, but manages only to cleanly slice off a front leg. He grimaces; his timing is suffering. It will be enough to slow it down for a moment, but with the energy it just absorbed from Yuji, it will be regrowing it quickly.]
no subject
[ Yuji is completely heedless of his own wound, the way his arm is hanging a little close to limp at his side, twisting around. He recognises that whirl of dark colour, the ping ping ping of his tracker ring alerting him even if he wasn't aware. Before he even thinks about his own exhaustion and trying to heal himself, he's moving, reaching behind himself with his good arm to grab at his club.
He winces as he does, stumbling a little, having to lift his bad arm up to grasp it with both hands. This isn't good, and if he can't swing it around then... The idea of Raidou getting hurt because of him is utterly intolerable, and he pushes himself forward, sliding his way along the ground and swinging up with the club, ignoring the thundering pain in his arm. It hits the kaiju, rocks its body with a miniature earthquake, and the club slips out of Yuji's fingers as he crashes to the ground, rolling across the pathway with a cry of pain.
It's just pain. It's just pain. He can do this - he has to be able to do this. It hurts, but if it's just pain, he can do it -
Pushing himself up, he feels his hand slip on the ground, and when he looks down it's just blood. Thrumming through his open wounds, and it makes his eyes narrow. Leaning back, he twists, he lifts it, angles it and he shoots it, a direct line at the kaiju, the sharp point of it hitting the beast in one of its eyes just as it rises to try and take another bite out of Raidou. Choso would be proud. ]
Get out of here!
no subject
The use of blood as a weapon is new surprising him, and is cuts off the creature's attack. Raidou had his arm up defensively, expecting the creature's jaws to clamp down when it's knocked back, screeching. He doesn't let the opening go to waste.
Slashing these kaiju with his sword hasn't been very effective, something he noticed rather quickly. Stabbing is the best option, which requires more prolonged contact with their electrified bodies. As the beast writhes in pain and tries to get its other eye on its prey, Raidou rushes at its blind side and plunges his sword deep into its chest, holding it there for several seconds. It's hard to tell whether he's doing it intentionally, or it's the electric shock, but after an agonizing few moments, the kaiju collapses, and Raidou falls to his knees, hands still on his sword.
One more done. So many more to go. He cannot let the kaiju reach the city. The evil must be cleansed. His blade is the--
Yuji. Yuji was hurt. With a hefty tug, Raidou removes his sword from the monster, and turns to find him, shakily getting to his feet.]
Yuji... Are you...?
no subject
Damnit. Damnit - he has to keep fighting, he can't just stop, not when there are more geckos around them and Raidou is in trouble. It hurts, but he keeps moving forward, pushing himself up and scrambling a little, moving forward as fast as he can to collapse down at his partner's side, reaching out to touch his arm, to wrap weak fingers around his elbow.
He wasn't expecting any of this. Last time had been rough, but he'd been able to take it, had been able to handle it... So what's different this time? What changed? Yuji doesn't consider his own mental state, the desperation to keep fighting, to prove himself, to play his part and slide into a role; he doesn't consider how his own recklessness and impulsiveness could play a part here. He focuses on the failures and feels the pain stab him, worse than any injury.
Leaning forward, ignoring the still bleeding bite, he hisses out a noise. ]
C'mon, you can't stay here. Let's - let's go. Lean on me, Johei.

▶ 001. IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL.
There are other people Yuji can partner with, and Bakugo's aware it's a rotating sort of team ups, but the sorcerer remains one of the few Outsiders the young hero trusts implicitly and feels comfortable working together with, despite their clash in personality. He's silently glad whenever they get to work together.]
Oy G- [*clang!* Bakugo's shoulders jerk up at the sudden noise, loud in the abandoned park.]
Dammit, Gari Head! Stop kicking shit over! [They don't need their quarry knowing their every fucking location! Bakugo's in full costume like normal when he's on missions, scowl hidden behind the high collar of his body suit. He snorts before waving the other boy over.] C'mere. Look at this.
[Bakugo gestures to a thick cable running out the back of a stall-based carnival game.]
These things are still operational. They just don't have power. [Curious for an "abandoned" theme park...]
no subject
[ Yuji shakes his head, trying not to pout at Bakugo, because if there's anyone in the world who would not be affected at all by the expression, it would be this particular friend. He's still a little sad that the theme park is totally dead, especially since he had been excited about some of the rides, but he's getting over it - slowly, but definitely getting there. It helps that they've got a mission to focus on, so he doesn't have to worry as much about thinking of himself.
Fighting shouldn't be so comforting to him, but it's what he knows best these days, so he can turn his attention to it without overthinking. A blessing, after the last few weeks.
Stepping around the trash cans and abandoned memorabilia, Yuji sighs and walks over to Bakugo's side, leaning down to examine what he's pointing out. He's not the greatest when it comes to science or anything like that, but even he knows that this is clearly connecting things together and sharing power, and that's curious. LILITH had been totally sure that this place wasn't working the way it should, so that means...
The scientist guys, right? Turning his head to Bakugo, he nods. ]
Yeah, so - those guys we're tracking, do you think they're using the park as a hub or something?
[ He shifts his weight, walking around to try and see if he can follow the cable, see where he ends up. ]
no subject
What Is something else is controlling your leg?
[No one's making you kick things, Yuji. He's right in assuming that pout would do zero on Bakugo; he's got two other people in his life back home that like to pout at him for things, so damn right he's got practice in ignoring those puffy lower lips and puppy eyes. That doesn't mean Yuji can't get away with some advantages that others wouldn't when it comes to Bakugo. It's one of those not!friends perks you get from managing to wriggle past the spiky blonde's outer shell.
Fighting's always been a way to distract from heavier feelings. He knows that well enough himself, having gone out of his way to clash with someone in order to process and get out backed-up emotions that wouldn't be released any other way.
But there's another reason he's pointing out the connection.]
They have to. This place is housing their headquarters, so they have to be running power from somewhere.
[Bakugo kicks a little at the cable, more in indication than trying to knock it free. Looking behind the other stalls also showcases the wiring and power cords are mostly all hooked up.]
It also means if we can find the power source, we can turn this whole park back on.
[Rides and attractions and all. He follows after Yuji's idea to walk the cord to its source.]

And anyway, Yuji looks way worse than he feels, so he becomes Ryoji's immediate priority, even if it's the other boy offering to help him to the medbay. ]
Me? What about you? Your shoulder — you need to see a doctor right away.

It would make sense for the lab to be based inside or under an existing attraction. It would give them an extra layer of coverage.

wildcard!
as amusing as it was to chase down exotic creatures and interrogate human captives, none of it scratched that particular itch, y'know? he needs a challenge; he has yet to find one. his interest in locating a lost scientist is pretty fuckin' low, so he has spent most of their time in disneyland fooling around.
it isn't until the geckos begin to swarm that he feels even an iota of actual excitement, which only grew exponentially once the yamadenki made its appearance. long story short, he had a couple of concerning moments during that fight, but overall? it was fuckin' fun.
sated by that bout of violence, gojo has now trained his sights on the remaining geckos and the dismal horde of hybrids. time for a bit of cleanup, yea?
spotting yuji from afar, he teleports next to him, a wide smile on his face. the next second? the surrounding geckos around them have been sent flying in every direction, effortlessly repelled by him. ] Hey Yuji! I got you a gift~ [ don't ask where it's coming from, but he produces forth +1 mickey mouse headband. ]

Either way, he wouldn't say the fighting has been 'fun' necessarily, but it has been enough to get his blood pumping, and there's something enjoyable about that. This isn't like his fight against Sukuna where if he doesn't succeed everything is going to go wrong; if he fails there are people here to pick up the slack, isn't there? That doesn't mean he's not taking it seriously... He's still not good at sharing that burden.
Jumping a little at the sudden appearance of his teacher, Yuji tilts his head up and breathes out a little noise, huffing a laugh. Of course this is the kind of thing that Gojo-sensei would get himself into, and he wipes his face of a little dirt before he smiles. ]
What's that...?
[ Leaning in, he peers at the headband before he shakes his head and offers himself out. Go for it, sensei, bless him with the headband. ]
Where did you even find that?
